Aeipathy is a
member-grown forum. Our lands, guilds, houses, factions and character roster grow because of contributions made by our community. Our staff team work hard to encourage this involvement whilst maintaining
diversity in the world lore. This means managing the formation of unique contributions and working to launch them successfully onto the site.
The process for adding to our world is simple: find the appropriate application code below, complete it and submit it to our staff team. The execution and level of detail required is a little more challenging, so please read the appropriate section and advised research pages carefully.
There are
three key ways in which a member can contribute to Aeipathy's lore:
Suggestions
Critique / feedback on the OOC running of the site.
Nuggets
Nuggets of IC details for our world lore.
Contributions
Applications for large additions to our IC lore: noble houses, new areas or member-created guilds or factions etc.
Suggestions
Corrective Suggestions
Corrective Suggestions might be things like broken links, pages that don't load properly or issues you have with site function or the community / members. These classify as
urgent issues and should be
reported immediately. Check our
Report an Issue page for more information.
Additive Suggestions
Additive Suggestions are ideas that might
expand or
improve the Aeipathy experience. This might include (but is not limited to): new event ideas, new challenges or socials, additional badges or reward schemes etc. In order to streamline these requests, our
Feedback Form is open from
14th - 21st of every month for you to submit as many ideas as you like! In the meantime, you can also check out our
Improving Aeipathy page for ways you can contribute to the site, right now!
Nuggets
Ever heard the expression a 'nugget of wisdom'? Or a 'golden nugget'? Our nuggets are the little ideas that members might want to throw out there to help
give colour and texture to our world. This might be special details for map locations or historical events between kingdoms or families for our background lore. These additions don't need to be connected to your own character in any way; they can just be for the fun of it! So, if you have a small detail idea that you want added to the Aeipathy lore, we're totally here for that - the more the merrier!
Accepted nugget submissions come with writer credits (where possible) and the 'Golden Nugget'
profile badge! You can gain as many of these as you like, one for every 'nugget' you submit! 'Nugget' examples include:
Historical Timeline
Our historical timeline is vast and detailed, stretching back nearly a thousand fictional years. In that time, many events and personal dramas have occurred. If you are looking to build a rivalry or amicable history between families, characters or lands, we can
add to the history of our world to give you that foundation. Also, our history is roleplayable! You can check out our
Character System to see how to roleplaying deceased or historical characters (known as
'Legacy' characters). To add to our historical lore, just complete the code below and submit to our staff team!
[div][attr="class","submission"]World Contribution Submission - Historical Timeline Nugget
Date What is the BC date of the event in question?
Level Is this an International / Intra-Land / Familial / Personal event? I.e. how big an impact does it have on the world lore? For clarity on the terms / levels, see our Historical Timeline (https://aeipathyrp.com/board/598).
Houses Which Houses (if any) are involved in or will have been affected by this event at the time?
Description Tell us about your 'nugget' historical event![/div]
Please NoteNo historical addition is confirmed as canon until you receive notification that the details have been added to our timeline. Our staff team may be aware of other suggestions, intentions or needs regarding your suggested characters or events and may need to work with you before your ideas can be confirmed. We never like to reject nuggets or contributions, so we will always come back to you with edits or workable suggestions, if necessary. As soon as the addition is added to our timeline, it becomes gospel lore.
NPC Roster List
We all know those moments when writing a post and you need 'Mr. Baker' to cause an accident or 'Mr. Candlestick-Maker' to make a pass at the pretty girl so that drama unfolds in a helpful manner. At Aeipathy, we encourage these
NPC ideas and want them to become communal. So if, in your post, you've made up a 'Mr. Aeleaus of Arcana' who is famous for selling very spicy meats in the Midas marketplace, tell us! We'll add them to our
NPC Roster List. That way, when another creator is looking to add detail or maybe some spicy sausage to their post, they'll find 'Mr. Aeleaus' on the list and use him too! You can also build on these NPCs. Perhaps in 'Aeleus'' second appearance the new writer mentions his limp and a crooked smile. You can submit the addition after making your post, so that we add these details into 'Aeleaus'' entry on the roster. Eventually, we hope that this resource becomes a diverse range of colourful NPCs for the whole community to use.

Description Tell us about your 'nugget' NPC! Describe anything mentioned in your thread: what happened, what they look like etc. This could have a lot of detail or barely any - whatever you wrote in your thread is what goes here. Others can always add to it in the future![/div]
Geographical Details
At Aeipathy, we take great pride in the
details we've included in our world-building. If you have an idea for a place you would like added to our boards or a description you think would be a cool addition to a
province or place, just complete the code below and submit it to our staff team. We'll do our best to see it added to our world. Examples might include: a patch of woodland famous for bandits; a wishing well that the locals believe to be real; an area in which a mythical silver stag has been reported; cliffsides where rock falls are common; a tavern that famously sells the best mead in all of Roma. Whatever you think would be a fun plot device, let us know! We'll be happy to add it to our boards and maps.

Contributions
A contribution is a
large-scale addition to our lore that will affect numerous players and characters. It may be the creation of a new guild, a new House or noble family, or something like a faction, built to bring havoc and mayhem to the lawful world. At the moment, there are six kinds of contribution open to our member base, which require their own kinds of application. Find the appropriate section below, complete the code and
submit it to our staff team.
If you have an idea for a contribution to the site that doesn't seem to fit with one of the options below, please message a member of our
staff team and we'll be happy to discuss your idea further and perhaps create a custom style contribution.
Accepted contribution submissions come with writer credits (where possible) and a 'Contributor'
profile badge! You can gain as many of these as you like, one for every 'contribution' you successfully submit!
Please Note'Suggestions' and 'Nuggets' are open to everyone. 'Contributions' are only open to members with 100+ posts across their characters.
Antu's
The Antu' houses of Hattusa are
not open for original creation. As they all stem from a direct royal line, entirely new families cannot be introduced without upsetting current and past storylines. There are still, however, plenty of powerful roles to be played in Hattusa in the world of politics and trade without the need for a new lore contribution. See the
Trade and
Law pages for Hattusa, for more information.
Alternatively, Hattusa is one of the few lands on Aeipathy where it may be possible to
create new canon characters. As the Antu' royal family tree is large, it is easier to create sub-branches, or illegitimate lines through concubines, provided that the introduction of new characters does not upset storylines already in play. If you are interested in contributing a new character to the Hattusa canon list please speak to one of our
staff admins.

Bêlus
The Bêlu royal houses of Babylonia are
not open for original creation. As they all stem from a direct royal line, a new branch cannot be introduced without upsetting current and past storylines. There are still, however, plenty of powerful roles to be played in Babylonia in the world of politics and trade without the need for a new lore contribution. See the
Trade and
Law pages for Babylonia, for more information.
The Bêlu houses of Assyria, on the other hand,
are open for original creation. With regular inter-marriage, there is little distinction in Assyria between noble and royal houses: they are simply families of power. The only exceptions are the ruling house of Kushiq and the previous rulers of the now municipality of Mitanni: the Tyareh. Other families are interconnected with the royals but are not eligible to rule. These powerful Bêlu families are open for member creation. They are defined by bloodline and legitimate offspring, passed down through the male line. They also own the land they manage, therefore making their peasantry, produce and natural resources bargaining chips in the halls of political power, even if the family themselves has no royal blood.
If interested in creating a Bêlu, we highly recommend reading all of the Assyria information pages, particularly the political structure of Bêlus in the Law page and the geographical laws between Assyria and Mitanni in the Land page. |
|
To create an Assyrian Bêlu, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
Two Characters Rule A maximum of one in-play Bêlu with fewer than
two accepted characters. If more than one Bêlu has fewer than two in-play characters, a new Bêlu cannot be created at this time.
Two Characters Rule - WorkaroundIf two players each wish to create an active character in your new Bêlu, from the beginning, it
can be created and the above rule can be ignored.
One Bêlu / One Member RuleNo member can contribute / create more than
one Assyrian Bêlu.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Dynasteías
The Dynasteía royal houses of Hellas are
not open for original creation. They each form the main branches of royalty in the three kingdoms, the families are too tightly woven together to have another branch introduced without upsetting current and past storylines. There are still, however, plenty of powerful roles to be played in Hellas in the world of politics and trade without the need for a new lore contribution. See the
Trade and
Law pages for Hellas, for more information. Alternatively, see the 'Varónos' entry below for noble family creations in Hellas.
Factions
Factions are groups of people held together by a
common philosophy or moral code (or lack thereof). They can be political, religious or militarial based. 'Orders' operate
within a nation's legal and political structure and are accepted groups to which characters can belong. 'Factions' operate
outside these structures and are often anarchical in nature. They can be peacefully divergent from the norm or actively antagonistic to the current status quo and ruling powers.
If interested in creating a faction, we highly recommend reading our
Factions and Orders page and
all relevant pages for the land in which you wish to create the faction.
To create a new faction, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
No Similars RuleAll factions should be
unique within their land. For example: You can create a religious faction, even if we already have a dozen religious factions, but
not if one of those dozen is in the same land you wish to create
yours in. Too many of the same thing in the same place is bad for writing diversity.
No Similars Rule - WorkaroundExceptions may be made to the above rule for factions created as deliberate
rivals / plot devices. Please speak to a staff member if you believe your faction idea might qualify.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Gesins
The gesins of Bedoa'mt are nomadic,
tribal groups living in the Saharan desert. They are ruled by a particular family/bloodline but this family is not given a different name to their own people. Everyone who journeys with a gesin, and is accepted as part of that tribe, takes its name. New gesins can be created if a large enough number of people decide to journey alone in the desert and begin their own nomadic group. Gesins possess no land or power beyond their own inclusive community.
If interested in creating a gesin, we highly recommend reading all of the Bedoa'mt information pages, particularly the geographical information in the Land page, political structure in the Law page and the every day living described in the Social page. |
|
To create a Bedoa'mt Gesin, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
Six Characters RuleA maximum of two in-play gesin with fewer than
six accepted characters,
two of which must be canons in the royal family. If more than two gesins have fewer than six in-play characters (with two royals), a new gesin cannot be created at this time.
One Gesin / One Member RuleNo member can contribute / create more than
one Bedoa'mt gesin.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Guilds
As guilds are
site-wide and not tied to any land, kingdom or realm, they require careful building so that they fit with every context. As such, we encourage any members interested in creating a new guild to speak with a member of our
staff team before any application process begins. It may be that we recommend your guild idea to be made into an Order or Faction instead or we may wish to discuss the idea further and help implement it as a world-wide guild.
Heis
A Hei is a
family of importance in the K'm't land. The own no land and do not rule over the people of K'm't. All people and land belong to the Pharaoh. A Hei is
meritocratically attained but then remains
within bloodline only. A family becomes a Hei by having a male relative achieve the rank of Sirdar in the military. The reward is his family becoming a Hei and gaining economic benefits from particular provinces of land.
If interested in creating a Hei, we highly recommend reading all of the K'm't information pages, particularly the political structure of Heis in relation to the Pharaoh in the Law page and the Sirdar / General lore in the Military page. |
|
To create a K'm't Hei, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
Two Characters Rule A maximum of two in-play Heis with fewer than
two accepted characters. If more than two Heis have fewer than two in-play characters, a new Hei cannot be created at this time.
Two Characters Rule - WorkaroundIf two players each wish to create an active character in your new Hei, from the beginning, it
can be created and the above rule can be ignored.
Two Heis / One Member RuleNo member can contribute / create more than
two K'm't Heis.
In-Game Creation RuleNew Heis must be created in-game / awarded in present story. They cannot be created retrospectively / historically.
In-Game Creation Rule - WorkaroundHeis can, however, have been Heis in the past, lost their status at some point, and are now being
reinstated in-game.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Mahnheegs
The Phoenician Mahnheegs are
not open for original creation. As there are only six cities of rule in Phoenicia, with a canon family in charge of each, there is no geographical room for original Mahnheeg families. As Phoenicia runs strongly on its economy more than divine right of rule, however, it is still possible to play powerful characters in Phoenicia without the need for a new lore contribution. We recommend reading the
Trade,
Social and
Law pages for Phoenicia, for more information.
Nobilis
The Nobilis families of Roma hold
political power but are not connected (unless through marriage to royal blood) to the royal lines of old. The Nobilis rule over parcels of land, their leading pair referred to as the duke and duchess of their Nobilis house. There are already canon Nobilis families in play, with others open to creation.
If interested in creating a Nobilis, we highly recommend reading all of the Roma information pages, particularly the political structure of Nobilis vs. Regnums in the Law page and economic information in the Trade page. |
|
To create a Roma Nobilis, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
Two Characters Rule A maximum of two in-play Nobilis
and Regnums with fewer than
two accepted characters. If more than two Nobilis or Regnums have fewer than two in-play characters, a new Nobilis cannot be created at this time.
Two Characters Rule - WorkaroundIf two players each wish to create an active character in your new Nobilis, from the beginning, it
can be created and the above rule can be ignored.
One Nobilis / One Member RuleNo member can contribute / create more than
one Roma Nobilis.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Orders
Orders are groups of people held together by a
common philosophy or moral code. They can be political, religious or militarial based. 'Orders' operate
within a nations legal and political structure and are accepted groups to which characters can belong. 'Factions' operate
outside these structures and are often anarchical in nature. Orders might include peace-keeping militias, temple workers, peaceful cult groups or merchant organisations.
If interested in creating an order, we highly recommend reading our
Factions and Orders page and
all relevant pages for the land in which you wish to create the order.
To create a new order, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
No Similars RuleAll orders should be
unique within their land. For example: You can create a military order, even if we already have a dozen military orders, but
not if one of those dozen is in the same land you wish to create
yours in. Too many of the same thing in the same place is bad for writing diversity.
No Similars Rule - WorkaroundExceptions may be made to the above rule for orders created as deliberate
rivals / plot devices. Please speak to a staff member if you believe your order idea might qualify.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Regnums
The Regnum royal houses of Roma are
not open for original creation. Cannae and Veneti are openly accepted as the last remaining branches of royal blood in Roma meaning that a new family cannot be introduced without upsetting current and past storylines. There are still, however, plenty of powerful roles to be played in Roma in the world of politics without the need for a new lore contribution. See the
Trade and
Law pages for Roma, for more information. Alternatively, see the 'Nobilis' entry above for noble family creations in Roma.
Sippes
The people of Ostjord are divided into clans. Clans are not dictated / segregated by residence or bloodlines but those of the same place or family do
usually end up in the same clan. Clans are groups formed, instead, by
loyalty and
trust. People can live thousands of miles apart and retain loyalty to the same clan and its leader (the konungr).
If interested in creating a clan, we highly recommend reading all of the Ostjord information pages, particularly the political structure of clans in the Law page, the Battle Master lore in the Military page and the every day lives of clans in the Social and Faith pages. |
|
To create an Ostjord clan, make sure to follow the below rules, then complete the following code and submit it to our staff team via the paper airplane icon at the top of this page.
Six Character Rule All currently in-play clans must all have
six accepted characters already in them, before a new clan can be made.
One Clan / One Member RuleNo member can contribute / create more than
one Ostjord clan.
Complete the FormComplete and submit the
form below if the above rules have been met.
Varónos
The Varónos families of Hellas are
noble houses, the leader of which is referred to as a Varónos or Baron / Varoni or Baroness. They rule over particular provinces as vassals of one of the royal Dynasteía houses. Whilst the title is passed from father to son and several Varónos households are long-standing nobility, the title is awarded and removed at the discretion of their ruling Dynasteía and is more a bestowed occupation than a birthright.
If interested in creating a Varónos, we highly recommend reading all of the Hellas information pages, particularly the political structure of the three kingdoms and how Varónos and Dynasteías inter-relate in the Law page. |
