Our mentor system was designed to
help newcomers through their first steps on Aeipathy. We have a lot of lore here, not all of which is relevant to every member. We have a large roleplaying world, not all of which your own character might be able to explore. Our mentors work with new members from the moment they
join our Discord server 'til their first character is accepted and they have several threads under their belt.
Getting a Mentor
All members are assigned a mentor when they
join our Discord server. Use this icon or the one in the top right of every site page to join us. The assignment is done manually, so please give us up to
three working days maximum for you to be assigned a mentor. If you still have no mentor after three days of joining our server please DM a member of
staff team, indicated on the server by their coloured name.
The Process
Through tried and proven practice, mentors are required to complete the following process, allowing members to fully integrate their new characters into the site:
First HelloThe mentor messages their assigned newcomer through DMs on Discord, introducing themselves.
Regular ContactAfter this, the mentor will contact a mentee every
three days at minimum, unless the mentee has specified that they will be unreachable / unable to focus on roleplaying for a while. This may seem excessive but we find this works best for any nervous newcomers, looking to join but unsure of how to interact. Our three day rule stops them falling into silence for too long and then feeling awkward about reaching back out. More confident members tend to maintain more frequent contact themselves, making this rule irrelevant in their case.
SupportA mentor will
support the development of character ideas, answer any questions a newcomer has, provide any
resources and links that they may find useful and work with their newcomers to
build a character profile that will likely be acceptable on the site.
CompletionWhen a newcomer has completed their first character profile, they send a message to our
IC Admin confirming the profile to be complete.
ReviewWhen a character is accepted, a notification is posted to our community introducing the character and sparking plot suggestions. If a character is not immediately accepted, the newcomer is sent a Discord DM (or a PM here on the site if they are not a member of our server) confirming which details need altering. A copy of this DM is posted in our staffer server and their mentor is
tagged.
Further SupportThe mentor will then work with the newcomer, helping them with any additions or edits that were mentioned in the app review.
IntegrationOnce a character reaches acceptance stage, mentors keep an eye on their
recently accepted mentees. They are only released from a mentor's list when they have become involved in
three threads (including one Event)
or ten threads (no Event), just to be sure that the character has integrated well into the site's plots.
Our Mentors
If any newcomer, at any point, becomes stuck and wants to reach out to someone other than their own mentor, the other members of the mentor team will be
happy to help. Just pop them a DM on
Discord or a PM here on the site. You can also use the ticket service on our server to message the
On-Call Staffer, at any time. If you would prefer to keep with the mentor team, our current mentors are:
