Welcome to our Plotting Plus+ guide, for advanced / experienced members of Aeipathy looking to expand their writing skills and character stories. If you feel that you have explored all of your characters' current connections and relationships to their fullest and still want more content to sink your teeth in, try some of our features below...
Muse-Power
Firstly, our
Discord server has a
#muse-power channel dedicated to
boosting the muse and inspiration of our community. Members and staffers alike post here regularly with wanted characters, story prompts, aesthetic muse images or match-making ideas between players.
If you're looking to proactively seek new story ideas, give this channel a read and remember to keep your
notifications on in case someone tags you with an idea.
Please Note:This channel is not for plot discussion. It operates like a notice / flyer board for people to post ideas. Further discussion or tagging of story ideas should be carried out in our #plot-discussion channel.
Teater-Feed
If you're looking for ideas more interwoven with characters already on site, check out our
#teater-feed channel on our
Discord, where players post
teasers and
gossip notes regarding their current, in-play threads. Aeipathy has an all-inclusive policy, so you can join any thread you see that takes your fancy!
If you're looking to insert your character into
current stories, give this channel a read and contact the members already playing in the threads!
Please Note:This channel is not for plot discussion. It operates like a notice / flyer board for people to post current story gossip. Further discussion or tagging of story ideas should be carried out in our #plot-discussion channel.
IC Events
Diving into our
on-going event threads is one of the best ways to get your character involved with
bigger plot lines. Our latest
broadcast always gives ideas on how to introduce your character into all active events, based on current writing. To access our broadcast, go to our
Encyclopaedia and select the
bull-horn icon on the left. You can also find helpful information on how to join an Event within the event itself (again, links can be found in our broadcast or on our
homepage).
IC Challenges
Also in our broadcast is a bi-weekly
IC Challenge. This might be to post in a particular area, to engage in a type of character interaction, to use a certain word in a post or hit a new writing target. The challenge is a great way to bring a fresh novelty to your writing and changes every two weeks with each broadcast release. To access our broadcast, go to our
Encyclopaedia and select the
bull-horn icon on the left.
'Seeking Plot' Ads
Our
character compendium is full of accepted characters who may have advertisements up for
wanted plots and character ideas. Use the search features on the left hand side of the compendium to search for accepted characters in your geographical area and then open up each profile and have a looksie! This can be a great way to explore our character roster and you may find a plot idea or request that your character can partake in!
Thread Roulettes
Aeipathy hosts a special Event every RL month! For January, May and September, this event is the
thread roulette. This is a voluntary event (sign-ups are opened before each month begins) where your character is
matched up with another participant. Other than ensuring that your character can , geographically meet, the pairing is randomised and you're given a
story prompt / challenge. You and your match-made partner then have until the end of the month to write a thread that tackles the prompt / challenge! Not only do you have the chance to be paired with character or player you've yet to meet but you gain member points for participating! It's a win-win!
To sign up for one of our thread roulettes, we recommend keeping an eye out in your PM messages on site and / or
joining our server on Discord so you'll be alerted to sign-ups being opened. You can also check the dates of these sign-ups in our
site calendar (just go to our
Encyclopaedia and select the
calendar icon on the left).
Seasonal IC Events
Each year we have a series of
season-themed IC events and challenges. These are sometimes AU-based and help your develop your character beyond the realms of our world. Some are in-game and specific to the world of Aeipathy. In the past, we've had chariot races and hot spring visits. We've also had water challenges and speed dating! Keep an eye on your PM messages our our
Discord server's #announcements channel for up-to-date information on when these events are launched each year. You can also check them out in our
site calendar (just go to our
Encyclopaedia and select the
calendar icon on the left).
OOC Events
Our
Pinterest games and challenges (hosted in March and July),
Aeipathy Olympics (hosted in June),
Aeipathy NaNoWriMo (hosted in November) and
Aeipathy Advent (hosted in December) are primarily OOC events but they can also spark some great AU and outside-the-box plotting! We recommend keeping an eye on your PM messages on-site and our
#announcements on
Discord to see when these events open each month. You can also check them out in our
site calendar (just go to our
Encyclopaedia and select the
calendar icon on the left). You might also find similar, silly OOC inspiration in our
Fun and Games board.
Character Spotlight
You may have noticed that our
Discord server is always
promoting a focus character in our Character Spotlight event. This spotlight emphasises plots that a member is looking for or ideas they are open to. The Character Spotlight changes every
six weeks and is done on a first-come-first-serve basis.
To put add your character to the Character Spotlight list, complete the following steps:
OneFill in at least two 'Seeking Plot' ads in your character's profile.
TwoComplete the form below and send to our staff team.
CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT - REQUEST
Your Alias: Self-explanatory.

The Big Red Button
The above options for new plots are very 'you'-driven.
You read the gossip,
you check out the muse boosts,
you tell us how you want your character advertised to others. If you are looking for something a little more spontaenous and challenging for your skills and stories we also have:
the big red button. And yes, it should be read with a dramatic tone of voice.
Choosing to press the big red button is basically a message to our staff team that you want your character to be
more involved in
global plotlines and to be
challenged. And it is down to the staff team to decide how this might go down. Your character's father might suddenly decide that they should be engaged for the benefit of the family name. A relative might suddenly die in a traumatic fashion, leading to a twist in your characters' own fortunes. Your character might be suddenly kidnapped, accused of treason, discover a buried treasure, be revealed to be illegitimate, have their lover imprisoned, stolen away or crowned king. Events stemming from the big red button can be good or bad for your character but they will always be dramatic. Events
do not GM your character; they are always events happening
to your character rather than stating your character has done something they have not.
The only limit to these storyline twists are your own
trigger warnings. When members press the big red button, all trigger warnings are taken into consideration and a fresh global plot is written to include, as best as possible, everyone who has 'pressed the button'. This is why staffers cannot promise positive or negative outcomes: we don't know who we have to include in the new global plot until we come to write it.
Pressing the big red button is final and, once written into a global plot, a character cannot be written out. That being said, we always aim to make these dramatic story twists exciting and engaging for
players, whether they be good or bad for the
characters, so we're confident that members won't be disppointed.
To press the big red button, complete the following steps:
OneFill in at least two 'Seeking Plot' ads in your character's profile.
TwoComplete the form below and send to our staff team.
BIG RED BUTTON - REQUEST
Your Alias: Self-explanatory.
Main Character: Which character do you want to be thrown into global plots? Please be aware, you can 'press the button' for more than one character at a time but each must have their own request form. Please also make sure you can accommodate a heavier post-load for all characters you want more involved in global plots. Please #tag the character that this form is regarding so that we have the link to their account.

The House Cup
When all else fails, sometimes writing comes from
building habits. You may not feel inspired, you may not feel particularly muse-y but, some days, the best option is just to soldier on. Our
House Cup at least gives you a reward for these efforts! Each month, we update our points totals for the House Cup Teams. The more posts you make in a month, the higher you are in that month's rankings. Your rank dictates the points you achieve for your team. This means that long-term post totals and site-longevity don't give any advantages: each month's points are calculated on
that month's results. At the end of every 6 months, the winning team are crowned and member points awarded!
There's no need to sign up for the House Cup - every member is
automatically entered and calculated into the totals each month!
Click here for more information on the Current House Cup.
Bi-Annual AU Event
Revamped every six months, alongside our House Cup, our
Bi-Annual AU Event, gives a long-term space to explore your character outside the historical setting of Aeipathy. This section of the site can always be found at the bottom of our
homepage. You can find all the information there on how to be a part of something wild, whacky or whimsical depending on our current setting of choice!
