Selene had been in the stable, where she could usually be found while in the Kotas Manor. She had been trying to keep herself distracted, trying not to worry about everything that seemed to be bothering her. For while Stephanos has been sure that the Leventi curse only involved the gender of heirs, the eldest daughter was wondering if it had chosen to affect her in a different way.
She had been certain that marriage for her and Zacharias was in the works, waiting contently for him to finally make his move to secure an advantageous marriage. While she was not getting any younger, there was no one more worthy of being Queen than she was. At least, that had been the thought prior to the missing body of the crowned prince and the head of the King. The more time she spent in reflection, the more she doubted her desire to be a Queen. Taegnea, from a political aspect, was confusing and full of people wishing to kill for power. That was the last thing she wanted to be associated with.
But now, with the death of Colchis, and the ascension of Vangelis to the throne, Selene was becoming more and more concerned about the possibility of being cursed herself. She had thought that her life had been in server to the Gods, doing her best to honor them in her daily life. But somehow, perhaps in her stubbornness, she must have angered them. And all she could do while in Kotas was think specifically on that. On how she seemed to be the common link to it all.
Of course, had she told anyone, they most likely would have pointed to the positions of power the men held that directly resulted in their deaths. But guilt and superstition were a funny thing. And she wasn’t able to think on much else.
With news of a Taegnean ship making port, she didn’t waste any time. She knew the city well enough now that she didn’t feel the need for an escort. And she wasn’t about to wait for one. Perhaps it was Irakles, coming to question Vangelis about his knowledge about the disappearance of Stephanos and Olympia. Even if it wasn’t, it would be people with news from her home country. And she longed for more information, to know if Theodora was married and what rumors were circulating around.
Her disappearance would not have gone unnoticed. Not with her sister so publically getting married to the now Crowned Prince.
She wanted to saddle a horse, to quickly make her way to the docks without haste. But it would take the ship longer to dock, and she needed to blend in with the crowd as much as possible to avoid being seen. Whomever was on that ship might want to know what she knew, and she wanted to use the crowds to vanish if she needed to run. So, dressed in a simple chocolate brown chiton, Selene headed to the docks.
It was easy for her to blend into the crowds as business was picking up towards the docks. She was no master spy, but she knew how to blend in when she didn’t wish to be bothered. Hair pulled back into a simple bun, Selene was still a beautiful woman who stood out. But with head down, her fluid walk kept her identity a mystery to most of the people who looked at her.
It took just long enough for her to make it on foot for the ship to dock. And relief washed over her as she saw the Leventi colors flying. Even if it was her uncle, Selene was certain that Fotios would at least appreciate the fact that she had positioned herself close to the new King.
Selene found herself standing behind a crowd, her petite frame hiding her easily. Eyes locked on the ship, she waited silently for whomever was on board to disembark.

Evelli couldn't remember the last time she had been so sick on a sea vessel. Travelling on boat was a normal occurence to Evelli, especially when Senate and court sessions required her to accompany Georgios every other month to mainland in Vasialiadon. The trip was a few hours at least, and it was especially boisterous back when all five girls had been younger and the whole family had been aboard. Of course, Evelli wrote it off as the fact that the ship they were on now was alot larger, and that she had been travelling for days instead of a few hours - but none of that helped the fact that she was green around the gills, until the boat slowed to a sail as they entered port.
In truth, the woman had been looking forward to the trip. Partially, because with five girls, spending time with each one was hard, and it was why she had decided to bring only Nana with her. Imma was quieter, and as she came into age and just started attending court sessions, Evelli and Georgios decided that Imma would be better carving a name out for herself amongst the Taengean nobilities first. Nana however, has had a fair few years, and now would be a great time to expand her horizons, especially with her... picky tastes.
She had been thinking of spending time with Nana, but half of the time found Evelli either hunched over the railings of their vessel, or green in her cabin. She had lost much weight, and was now looking forward to firm ground so she no longer needed to feel the rolling of her stomach at a perpetual motion.
When the captain called for the boat to a halt, no one was happier then Evelli.
Instructing Nana to ensure all her stuff was cleared and packed before she descended the ship, for once, Evelli did not wait, and hurried down the gangplank as the two servants she had brought along with her came down, each hauling one chest. One contained her own items of clothing, along with some gifts Georgios and Imma had sent to make sure Olympia's new baby would get it. The other, larger chest, contained Olympia and Selene's clothings (or as much as Evelli could fit, as well as her own gifts for her first grandchild.
And Evelli couldn't wait to meet her.
Stepping finally on solid ground, the brunette heaved a sigh, her pale yellow chiton hanging a little loosely on her then usual after a week of tossing the contents of her stomach to feed the fish. Despite the fishy air (as all docks are, so Evelli was no stranger to them), she took in a deep breathe of the fishy, salty atmosphere, and sighed with a smile as her hazel eyes observed the bustling crowd of people at the Midas harbour. At least, she could stand on firm ground and likely have a proper meal again.

She was still anxious about the possibility of Irakles hiding behind his good friend’s flag. It was putting her on edge to think about what would happen if he was on the ship. The only thing she could be certain of was trusting Vang’s plan. So she watched, the pit of her stomach in knots as she kept a watchful eye on the ship.
Selene was certain she was seeing things. But it was the moment that the dark haired woman finally hit solid ground that she could clearly see the familiar face of her mother.
“Mama!” She cried out, not bothering to hide anymore. She pushed through the crowd, ignoring the stares of people around her. Her voice was drowned out with the distance, and she pressed forward, not wanting her mother to wander off without her. “Mama!” Her voice carried this time, she was sure, as she got closer and closer.
She was moving as fast as the herd of people would let her. She felt like she was swimming upstream, unable to gain any ground and the goal only further and further away. But what felt like hours was only moments, and soon Selene was within arms reach of her mother. “Mama!” Crying out in joy, the eldest Leventi threw herself into her mother’s arms, undeniably grateful to see her there.
There were a hundred questions poised on her lips, but none of them could come out through the sobs of relief that overtook her. The tears flowed as she buried her face into her mother’s shoulder, unable to deny the vast amount of comfort she took from this moment. The one thing she had wanted, from the moment Pia went into labor, was the supportive, guiding hand of her mother. She had felt so alone in the whole mess, continuing through to the boat ride. Now, settled into Colchis, she felt even more secluded.
But now, her mother was here, and everything would be alright.

It would be a lie to say that Nana enjoyed the voyage to Colchis. Though the Leventi was acquainted enough with water travel from traveling back and forth from Macendia to Serenn, the week-long journey she'd set out on was more difficult than she'd expected. The constant rocking back and forth and waves crashing against the side of the ship kept Nana from getting any good amount of sleep, which was evident in the foul mood that consumed her during their trip. Though, it was easier for the twenty-one-year-old than her mother, who seemed to be hunched over the side of the vessel more than not. In those moments, Nana could do nothing but avoid her mother like the plague. If the blonde so much as heard her mother retching, it wouldn't be long before Nana would find herself doing the same. The girl just couldn't stomach other people's sick.
Unsurprisingly, the Leventi was filled with relief when the ship had finally docked in the harbour of Midas, and upon her mother's instruction to pack up her things, Nana was quick to listen. The girl dashed about her cabin, unceremoniously piling dresses she'd worn on the trip into the chest she'd brought along with her, anxious to get on to dry land as soon as possible. It would do wonders to be able to sleep a full night, the girl mused, as she checked the cabin for anything she might have left behind, before instructing a servant to carry the large chest off the ship, reminding them to come back after doing so to retrieve the gift that Nana had brought for Pia's new baby.
As she stood in the empty room, Nana breathed a sigh of relief when she'd been left alone, for possibly the first time in days. Even the ship that they were on, though it was reputable, was far too cramped for Nana's liking. Though she expected she'd have nothing like her chambers at home, she would still be happy to sleep on a regular bed, and get a good night's sleep, and not have to commingle with sailors. The shores of Midas were easily a welcome change for the girl.
After stepping out of the room, Nana made a beeline for the gangplank, avoiding making eye contact with any of the crew on deck as she passed by. Yet, as she reached the top of the ramp, Nana let out a predictable sigh at seeing her eldest sister. Yes, of course Selene was here. Why wouldn't she be? She was the golden child, after all.
Nana stood at the top of the gangplank for a moment, eyeing her sister with no pretense of happiness at seeing her. To Nana, it made no sense as to why Pia would choose to take Selene over her. When had Selene ever stood up to Stephanos? Never, as far as Nana knew. If Nana didn't absolutely adore Pia, perhaps she'd be angry at her for up and running away without so much as a goodbye, but with what Stephanos had said on their unexpected encounter, Nana was almost relieved to hear that her sister had escaped. But why on Earth had she taken Selene with her? Why not Nana? Selene was no better than her. Certainly, Nana would be wonderful with the baby. She'd even brought a toy horse for the little thing! Yet, the girl could not allow her disdain for her sister show so loudly. If she did, her mother would just get cross, and Selene would just let out a sigh and say, 'Oh, Nana.' Nana hated that.
So, as the descended the gangplank, Nana consciously put a smile on her face, walking up to the pair and making her presence known by clearing her throat.
As the girl had no words to say to her sister, she simply acknowledged her presence with a calm, "Selene."

She had expected to have to hire a carriage, really. The Leventi family were largely in Taengea, and while they did have connections in Colchis, Evelli's departure and the situations that surrounded it meant that the woman did not wish to attract large amounts of attention to what was going on. She'd rather Theodora and her new son-in-law get most of the attention, and luckily for her, Taengea's current political landscape meant it all worked out for the matriarch.
What she did not expect however, was for one of her daughter's to actually be at the docks as she alighted. A voice calling out 'Mama' was no surprise, for many called their mothers that way. Evelli however, was very much attuned to all of her offspring's voices, that Selene's first cry itself had her turning. Her eyes widened when she saw the flash of blonde that was her eldest's golden locks, that by the time Selene had made it to her mother's arms, Evelli's was wide open to receive her, smiling in delight when she felt Selene pretty much melt in her embrace.
She had always strived to make herself a safe space for her daughters, and while Evelli was here to primarily check in on Olympia and how was she after her birth, it was undeniable that Evelli felt a great sense of relief in seeing Selene in front of her hale, hearty and well.
"Are you well Lene?" she peeled back from the embrace to run her eyes up, down, and tilted Selene's head left and right as if checking for any scars or marks on one of her daughter's. While Evelli was the picture of grace and elegance most of the time, she turned into an avenging tiger should it concern the wellbeing of any of her daughter's, especially if Georgios was not around to rein her in. "Do write to your father, he's worried out of his mind." she murmured softly, once she has assured herself all was well with the oldest.
Turning when she heard footsteps behind her, Evelli raised a brow at Nana's supposedly calm composure. It had been some time now ever since Evelli was beginning to notice some friction between the two sister's, and it was inevidable with five children, that sibling rivalry would rear it's ugly head. But with matters bigger as of now, Evelli had no wish to address the matter unless it got outof hand. Her children were afterall, no longer just children, and Evelli trusted them to sort it out themselves first.
Instead, Evelli turned to Selene with a question that had been on her lips since before she left Taengea. "How has Olympia been? Is she well?"

Instead, Evelli turned to Selene with a question that had been on her lips since before she left Taengea. "How has Olympia been? Is she well?"
It took her a long moment to gather her thoughts. Selene hadn’t counted on her mother arriving in Colchis. Yes, she had left her mother a letter letting her know what was happening, but it had been brief. She hadn’t been able to say much, in case it was intercepted by the wrong party. She had hinted at their location, but hadn’t been able to make it apparent what their plan was.
All she wanted was to sit in her mother’s lap, like she used to do when she was young, and breathe her in. She was suddenly anxious to unload everything that had happened-- her original plan, how she had begged Vangelis to assist, knowing that men had died because of her-- she needed to tell her everything. And yet, in this atmosphere, she couldn’t. Too many ears listening.
Selene let herself relax into her mother as she gathered herself. She pulled back a bit as her mother asked of her condition. A nod of confirmation with a smile was the best she could do. With another few breaths, she hugged the woman again before stepping back. “I am.” It was nice to have someone concerned about her well being, for the first time in a while. Letting her mother shift her head to see it for herself, Selene relaxed for what felt like the first time in weeks. “I have started several letters and have been unable to finish any of them. I am sure he was most disappointed when he realized what we had done.” Cheeks flushing a bit, her eyes falling onto her sister. With a grateful smile, the eldest gave her sister a brief hug before returning to her mother’s arms.
“Olympia is well, as is little Tisiphone.” She said, having no issue revealing the gender of the baby. “Oh Mama, she is beautiful and just the sweetest thing. She can cry something fierce, with a temper to boot. You will just love her.” Perhaps on the journey back to the Kotas manor, she could fill her mother on the birth. “I wish you had been there, Mama. I did not think I would be able to handle it on my own.”
Selene paused, “Did Theo get married? I feel awful for missing it.”

The woman chuckled at her eldests' answer. For someone famed to be well versed with words and unparallel in beauty, it amused her to imagine Selene starting and tossing many letters to her own parents - but then again, they were now caught in a most unusual situation, and Evelli couldn't fault any of her daughters for being a little at a loss.
Reaching out to stroke Selene's golden locks, she simply shook her head. "Your father is simply worried, Selene. Do you think he would be anything but? Your reputation matters naught to him, and definitely not more then yours and Olympia's wellbeing." Afterall, it had always been Evelli who pressed hard for a good marriage and strong family ties, not Georgios. Her husband was more concerned that his girls were happy with their future spouses - a point of contention between the two married couple of course, but over time, Evelli had found compromise, somewhat. She was unwilling to budge on the reputation and strength of whoeveer her son-in-law would be... but she would ask first if her daughters wanted the marriage.
Of course, princes were always preferred.
"Just write to him, I promise you it'll be fine." She assured, and then her face brightened when Selene spoke of her granddaughter. A part of her was dissapointed when she heard it was a girl, and internally, Evelli wondered if the Leventi's were cursed, like really cursed. But outwardly, Evelli could not show that. As it was, she knew how much hope was riding upon Olympia carrying a son, and she could not imagine how it would feel for herself and her husband now. So instead, Evelli merely grinned at Selene, and laughed when she heard Tisiphone had a temper. "Just like her Mama, is it not?" she teased lightly. Olympia may have a sweet natured disposition, but her third born had a temper when riled - just like Evelli did.
Nodding to affirm Selene's question on Theo's marriage, Evelli spoke. "Her marriage to Achilleas was a celebrated one. The ceremony.... well, I'll update all of you when I speak with Olympia and Stephanos as well, and see my sweet baby Tisiphone." she murmured. First, she wanted to see her granddaughter.
Looking beyond Selene to the crowd that bustled on the Colchian docks, she peered around before asking, "Did you get here on a carriage Selene? Any idea how are we to get to the Kotas residences?" Turning to look at Nana, she raised a brow and gave a small teasing smile to her younger one. "I'm pretty sure all of Nana's luggage would need their own carriage."

It wasn’t just her reputation which had made the letter to her father impossible to write. It was the entire situation. He would know by now the death that had been left in her wake, would hear of the consequences of the actions she had taken. He would know what she had done, and who had been involved. And he would have to decide on how to act. Because she had gone against the standing king, had put him in a situation that would have his loyalties divided. Family or Kingdom-- all because she had forced his hand. And that was the reason her letters had never been sent.
How did you face the disappointment of your father on a matter so grave?
Still, she nodded to her mother, knowing the woman was right. Her father would want to know, first and foremost, that she was alright. ”I suppose I can at least do that, then face the more difficult letter later on.” She and her father were close, but with his recent illness and everything else going on, she hadn’t had much of a chance to tell him the most current events. He certainly didn’t know of her growing feelings for Vangelis, nor did he know that she was certain that she would have to leave Greece to find any sort of sanity. Her reputation was so far beyond repair that she would be lucky to find a husband on her own shores, anyway.
”I ran.” She said, cheeks flushed at the unladylike way she had come to the docks. ”I heard there was word of a Taegnean ship and I was worried about who may have been on it. I did not wish to stand out on horseback.” It was not surprising that Nana had packed so much with her, as this was her first trip and there were more Colchian princes than she could manage. ”We are not too far from the manor, we can..” It was then that she looked up at the ship and saw the familiar, dark haired girl that she had left behind. ”Jo!” She cried out with joy, watching as she made her way down to meet her keeper. The blond didn’t hold back as she embraced the younger girl, laughing for the first time that everything seemed to work out for the best.
Kissing both of her cheeks, Selene’s heart felt lighter than it had in days. ”Jo can either stay with the luggage and we can hire a carriage, or she can go to the manor and send word that we are in need of one. Tis not too far a walk, Mama, and I find that the fresh air on stable ground is far easier to manage than the continued swaying of a carriage.” It was then that she noticed how pale her mother looked. ”But maybe a carriage would be better, so that we can get you settled and rested.” Her hands moved to her mother’s cheeks, brushing over her forehead, eyes darkened with concern.

Though she'd urged herself to remain calm and composed, it seemed that Selene always brought out the worst in her. Of course Mother was fawning over her, it wasn't as if she'd gone and left the entire family worried sick. Nana could only imagine that if she had been the one who fled with Pia, Evelli wouldn't be nearly as sweet upon their reunion. No, she would just get a lecture about how she should follow Selene's example. As usual.
In order to keep her mouth shut, Nana bit down on the inside of her lip, gathering fistfuls of her gown tightly and looking anywhere but at her mother and sister, knowing that doing so would only irritate her further. Yet, when Selene approached to give her a hug, she did not shy away, fully aware of the fact that if she did, she would be in the wrong. So, she returned her sister's brief hug before pulling away once again and focusing her attention on the servant carrying her belongings down the gangplank.
Yet, as she heard her sister ask about Theo's wedding, Nana just couldn't help herself. "Yes, it was a beautiful wedding. If only you'd have been there, you would have seen how beautiful a bride Theo was. What a shame..."
As she fiddled once again with her skirts, her eyebrows pulled into a thin line at her mother's comment. "Two trunks isn't even that much! Besides, even if I did bring more with me, I wouldn't be wrong in doing so. A lady can never be too prepared. I'm sure you wouldn't want me wearing the same thing every day. It would certainly leave a bad impression at court." Nana huffed. It seemed that Evelli had hit a sore spot. Or, perhaps, Evelli teasing at all was a sore spot. Nana wasn't exactly the easiest daughter to deal with, but she had her reasons. How could she be expected to laugh along at her own expense when she was too busy avoiding her mother's reprimand? Impossible.
Nana could only let out another sigh as her sister's handmaid appeared from the ship, to the immense joy of Selene. Nana could only watch and purse her lips, crossing her arms as she waited for the two to part and the party to start making their way to wherever it was that they'd be sleeping. Nana could see easily enough that Selene cared less for her than she did for some simple servant girl, and with the short moment they'd spent together at the docks, Nana was quite eager to get away from her eldest sister. She did not come to Colchis to feel lesser, after all. She came to see Pia and the baby, and to possibly hook a prince. There were so few left, and time was of the essence, after all.
"Considering she's been sick the entire trip over, I don't think that getting off a swaying ship just to climb into a swaying carriage is going to do anything but make her feel worse. Besides, Lene, you yourself said that the fresh air would be good for us... We should walk, right, Mother?" With a sudden need to show that she, too, had deep concern for her mother, Nana quickly captured one of Evelli's hands in her own, squeezing it tightly and giving her a small smile. "You can hold on to me if you need to."

We should walk, right, Mother?" She nodded when Selene conceded. While Georgios had been shocked at the actions of Selene and Olympia, and the distraught it had wrought on their family after had her husband wearing a grave face for days following the event, it did not mean he loved them any less. If anything, Georgios had wanted to come along on this voyage to Colchis, but only stayed back because Evelli reminded him how suspicious it would look if their whole family set sail for Colchis. Georgios conceded only upon Evelli's promise that everyone would receive the messages he had for them, and as such, she would insist Selene contact her father soon.
Satisfied with the response of her eldest, her attention was quick to turn to the way in which they would find a method to arrive at the Kotas manor, the quickest way possible, for Evelli did want to meet her granddaughter. Turning as Nana responded to her light tease, the mother of five hid a chuckle, and merely shook her head ruefully at Nana's huffing. To a certain extent, her words held truth. Nana was unmarried still, and with two older sister's now wedded and the eldest one almost certain of her future husband (for Evelli would now accept nothing less), her attentions would now be on Nana, and securing yet another match in Colchis whilst they were here seemed strangely convenient.
It was why Evelli had allowed the ridiculous amount of luggage Nana had wanted to bring, and merely let her comment pass without a response, and only an amused smile as she watched Selene greet Jo. The handmaiden had insisted upon coming, even when Evelli had wanted to bring as little people with them as possible. Jo had said she would serve useful during the voyage, and in hindsight, Evelli had been thankful for the handmaiden's presence as she was throwing the contents of her stomach out into Poseidon's realm.
Turning to briefly look in on Nana, Evelli cocked her head at the petulant look upon Nana's face, and gave her younger daughter a small nudge. "You do not want to give the wrong impression to our hosts, Nana. Do you want them to think you angry all the time?" It was said with no scolding, merely a gentle reminder from mother to daughter, before she turend back to Selene as she addressed the manner in which they were to return to the manor.
While a carriage sounded nice and quick, Nana's words held truth. After a long journey in the ship, the idea of another closed carriage was enough to bring bile rising up the back of her throat, bile because Evelli has not managed to keep much food in her at all the whole ride. So she nodded after Nana spoke, managing a wane smile as she held Selene's hand and gave it a reassuring pat. "A walk would do us all well, Lene. I will ensure a carriage is hired for the luggage and for the handmaiden's, and we can all take a walk to the manor, shall we not? And you can introduce us to this lovely town." Letting Nana catch her hand too, Evelli chuckled, and gave the hands of the younger one the same pat as well, before tucking it into the crook of her arm. "It is the first time Nana and I have visited, afterall." The smile Evelli wore as she flashed to both her daughters was maternal and loving whilst she spoke.

”Oh, I am glad you are both here.” She said with such earnest joy that it would be impossible to think of it as anything less than truth. There had been an overwhelming sense of seclusion since she had gotten onto the boat here. Hells, even since she had pulled Vangelis into her escape plan there had been no one else to speak to about it. Stephanos and Pia were still mostly in the dark about what had transpired to save their lives. It weighed on her, to have to keep that to herself.
Then, the terrifying birth of Tisiphone and the almost death of her sister?
At least there was family to carry some of the weight. And while she may not have been able to tell them everything, she would be able to confide some of her fears to them. And while she wasn’t all that sure that Nana would care, it would be a relief to tell her mother.
Selene was beaming, ”Come, Jo has been to the manor before and will be able to help them prepare for your arrival.” Tucking her mother’s arm into hers, the eldest started to lead the way. ”I would go through the market, but I think rest will do you both good. The King has planned a feast for tomorrow and you both should be well rested for it.” She stopped, turning to her mother. ”I suppose the news hadn’t reached home. The king is dead. Vangelis of Kotas has taken the crown and is now King of Colchis.” It would explain the somber mood that filled the kingdom, although Colchians seemed to be a more reserved people. ”The feast tomorrow is a formal gathering of the lords, a show of Unity and to honor the late King.”
She was sure that it explained her own dark attire. ”Nana, if you do not have anything fit for a formal gathering, I am sure we could find something suitable in the markets here. The materials are not as fine as we are used to seeing, but there are a few skills seamstresses who have come up with some beautiful dyeing techniques.” She didn’t know exactly what Nana had brought with her.
Selene stopped to allow Evelli to hire a carriage for the luggage before taking the lead once more. ”Pia will be most happy to see you both. The birth took quite a toll on her, and she has been slow to fully recover.”

As she had hoped, the walk was nourishing to Evelli's soul after spending far too long cooped up in a cabin aboard a pitching ship on the Aegean seas, and Evelli found herself enjoying having stable ground to walk on once again. With an arm in Selene's, and an eye upon Nana as they walked through the Midas streets, Evelli found herself looking at everything in curiosity, comparing everything to how Vasiliadon was. This would be one of Evelli's first and rare few times abroad from her home kingdom, and while she had no wanderlust, curiosity was inherent in every human being.
A flicker of surprise appeared in her eyes when Selene informed her of the death of the Colchian King. Albeit, she had been on a ship over the last week, so even if the news had reached Taengean shores, Evelli wouldn't have heard of it, but this... was the same crown prince that Selene had been sweet with, was it not? Evelli smiled, but managed to infuse some form of regret in her eyes as she patted the back of Selene's hands. "I hope he's taken the news as well as he could." she murmured, extending a soft prayer to the departed soul of the Colchian former King. She heard of how King Tython had been a powerful and just ruler, and it would explain how sombre the kingdom was.
Glancing down briefly at her own attire which now seemed grossly out of place in comparision to the darker shades the grieving kingdom seems to have adopted, Evelli made a quick mental note to change as soon as she could, and then turned to watch as Selene addressed her yuonger sister. "Surely Midas has dressmakers, Selene. Don't you worry though, Nana has brought enough to outfit herself for the whole month, so there would definitely be something suitable in her luggage." Evelli replied with a smile, not at all doubting her words. She half suspected Nana had brought all her dresses with her.
"I am most excited to see Olympia, and my grandchild as well. I have brought many things, as well as gifts from people back home. Imma gave the most beautiful silver rattle I'm sure the baby would appreciate." Evelli remarked, her steps having renewed vigor at the reminder of her newly minted grandchild and daughter who was likely still on bedrest. Rather then ask, Evelli simply wanted to get her eyes on Olympia as quick as she could, and get to know her new grandchild. All Evelli could do over the last few weeks was ask questions, so now that she had a chance, she wanted to get some answers to her questions as quick as she could.

With the speed at which Selene spoke, it was almost a wonder that Nana was able to understand just what she'd said. But, she did, and her news left the girl more than a bit shocked.
Turning her head to look in her sister's direction, it was clear on Nana's face that she was taken aback, but with her mother's words, the look of surprise on her face softened, and she turned back to look at the road ahead of her, responding with a small nod to her mother's words. It was a shock, yes, but Nana never met the man, let alone knew him. If she felt anything concerning the matter, it was a feeling of pity for Prince...no, King Vangelis. She could not imagine being in such an uncomfortable circumstance. To lose your father, one of those closest to you, but to gain power that no man could dream of having in the process... It was odd. And yet, it occurred to Nana at the same time that if Selene had her way, she would soon gain a great share of that power as well. The thought left a sour taste in Nana's mouth.
Nana felt herself bite her lip to avoid coming off as snarky when her sister spoke again, this time addressing her. As usual, Nana could not help but see the elder girl's words as little more than a vehicle to patronize, but it could not be helped. Nana was steadfast in her beliefs, and it seemed it would take the Earth turning on its side for Nana to ever see Selene differently.
But, it seemed she would not have to be in such a bad mood for long, as her mother quickly spoke to fill the silence which Nana refused to, assuring Selene that her second-youngest would be fine. Chiming in at the end, Nana couldn't help the small smirk that appeared on her face as she said, "Mama speaks correctly. I can think of more than a few dresses that would suit the occasion."
However, any snideness which the girl seemed to possess quickly dissipated when Selene spoke of Pia and the baby. If anything made the horrid voyage to Colchis worth it, it was her. Granted, Nana was mainly here to see about finding a match, but she wanted at this moment little more than to see Pia - to sit with her, to hold the baby, and, of course, to fill her in on everything she'd missed at home. And, of course, it was little wonder that Nana felt this way. With Selene and Theo quickly growing out of needing nursemaids, nobody gave attention to Nana to the same extent that Pia did, and Nana loved her dearly for it.
It was clear to see from the small smile that appeared on Nana's face that she was excited at the prospect of seeing her dearly beloved Pia, and for that matter, her new niece. Though she was almost certain that she'd get little time to hold the baby with Evelli in the room, Nana was determined to spend time with Tisiphone. She was a proud aunt, after all. That was apparent enough from the ornately painted rocking-horse she'd brought with her from Taengea for the newborn. Granted, she would get little use out of it before the age of two, but it would at least prepare the little girl for the real deal.
Turning to her mother and squeezing her hand tightly to try and get her attention, Nana asked softly, "Mama, do you think we can see Pia today?"

She should not have been surprised that Nana brought as much as she had, but Selene had more meant that if she didn’t have something proper for mourning. There was serious doubt in her mind that her sister would have packed anything remotely muted for her first voyage like this. But she would trust both her mother and sister, glad that her own trunks had been brought along as well. A similar doubt floated through her mind as she tried to picture what would have been packed by her slave, but that would just have to wait until she was able to go through her clothing to see.
For now, she was too happy about being reunited with family to worry about her clothing any further.
”Pia will be most anxious to see you both, I’m sure.” As they wove through the streets, Selene explained a bit about the journey over, leaving out the traumatic birth to allow Pia to explain that. Instead, she focused on little Tisiphone, trying to describe every detail of the perfect little girl as they walked. There was far more she wished to say, but they were getting much closer to the Leventi manor than she had expected. Perhaps her joy had made the journey seem shorter than it was.
Selene spent the rest of the journey pointing out her favorite shops, waving to the few vendors who she had visited in the past. The city was bustling with activity, all in what would be a quick preparation for the crowning of the new king, as well as the troops leaving to head off to war. There would be plenty of time to share everything with the pair, she decided as the manor came into sight. The eldest took it upon herself to lead the way, to step inside and carefully orchestrate the pair settling in.
By the time everything was said and done, Selene was pleasantly exhausted. But as she left the manor to return to the Kotas home, she was excited to share this news with Pia. Reinforcements had arrived, and for that, the blonde Leventi was grateful.
