The crown, such a prize for any one of the three Kingdoms of Greece… The King and Queen had the utmost strength of their nation with power so easily readied at their fingertips, Nethis wishes it was at her own. Nethis wants power, she wants power for her family to grow as well as benefit from so that the generations to come should never know peasantry. The dark-haired Thanasi woman has used her body countless times to ensure that vision, and to Nethis that was simply a sacrifice, she had to have been willing to make. Anyone of the Thanasi will have to make a sacrifice, though they will come in different forms, they are all meant to serve their house. Nethis will bleed, kill, lie, and commit the utmost crime to make sure her family remains in the public eye of power and longevity. She is known for being undeniably cunning and it shows in how plans for her family’s future… Everything is done tactically, there is a reason behind her movements, so if something doesn’t go her way it isn’t the end for her. There will always be another way to achieve what she wants, and she expects her family to understand that sacrifices are inevitable. Hopefully, there isn’t going to be a need to sacrifice too much.
Nethis laid in her adorned Kline that was decorated with various designs, although the most noticeable would be the House emblem going along the sides of lounging furniture. The elder sister laid on her side comfortably as she accepted a grape planted in her mouth by her handmaid’s assistance. As she was being fed grapes, Nethis continued to think of past events that would affect her family’s future. Currently, Evras has been making her sister rather proud in her relations with the Kotas House. Nethis knew her sister would be able to pull off gaining the younger bachelor’s attention and time because that’s all they needed. Nethis was more of an upfront woman, her patience does not lie within warmth and generosity. Evras had the fragility of a doe, though she has the blood of Thanasi, so she is more than what meets the eye… Nethis already attempted one brother of the Kotas family, the crowned Prince of Colchis; instead of giving in to the temptations of Nethis, the Stone Prince lived up to his reputation. He was not receptive to Nethis’s advancements, but she was starting to believe he was more homosexual than a man of stoicism.
To remain discrete and House Thanasi’s plans remain unknown, Nethis had to withdraw herself from the equation, and doing so allowed her to substitute her sister into the fray. Evras wasn’t one to disappoint, though it has been some time since she has heard from her younger sister… Nethis believes in her sister’s success, but she would rather hear about it than hope for the best outcome. Nethis rose a hand to signal her handmaid to stop, before sitting up from a more restful position on her side, “Antheia my sweet, I am in need of further assistance, in which you have the power to complete.” Antheia sat the grapes on a nearby table, before turning to her Lady with a nod in acknowledgment, “Yes Lady Nethis, in what way may I serve you?” The blue-eyed woman smiled pleasantly, before whisking her handmaid away with the flick of her wrist, “Run along to find my dear sister, Lady Evras, and tell her I wish to speak with her – At her earliest convenience.” Antheia nodded and said before backing away, “As you wish mi’lady.”
Nethis nodded before sliding off her Kline still dressed in her morning robes as it was slowly reaching Apollo’s most active ride across the skies. The elder sister went to stand by her bed, where a table set with the purple grapes sitting enticingly in view. Nethis grabbed one grape, before looking at it closely, her thoughts already rolling, “It will only be a matter of time now.” Without difficulty, Nethis placed the grape inside of her mouth and popped the fruit to taste the sensation of sweetness.

Letter writing had never been her forte, Evras had not been lying when she had told Zanon that. The fact that they were writing back and forth when their residences were approximately a twenty to thirty minute walk away from the other was a laughable fact, but each time the runner arrived with a letter from the second prince, Evras found it hard pressed to hide the soft flush of her cheeks, the way she eagerly ran to her chambers to read and re-read his words to her. They were stilted too - he had admitted that he wasn't well versed in the art of the written word as well, but they had practiced with each other.
She did not flippantly dispose of the letters. Instead, the fair-skinned Thanasi kept each of them carefully in the last drawer of her bedside chest of drawers, under a hidden base. It wasn't that she was afraid anyone would find them. Nethis fully encouraged this, of that Evras was sure. Mihail probably would not agree, but he would never intentionally tell Evras to stop, or the wrath of their eldest sister would fall on him. No, Evras simply had the notion that somehow, she'd like to keep Zanon private. All to herself, for now. A part of her knew that technically, she was playing right into her sister's plans. Nethis had intentionally pushed her in the direction of the second prince, and a slight guilt nibbled at her.
But she did not, could not leave Zanon at this point. His words tickled her heart, her mind sang each time her eyes laid claim to his features across a crowded ballroom... Evras was falling, and she was falling hard.
When Antheia found her, the young girl had been at the study table of her room, perusing her latest letter from the prince that had arrived that morning. The entrance of the lady's maid made Evras stumble, hurriedly stuffing the parchment of scrawled words in the midst of other parchments, before she hurriedly stood up. Nodding at Antheia's request, Evras smoothened her crisp, seafoam green silk chiton as she followed the servant to her elder sister's quarters, heart thudding in her throat.
What did Nethis want with her? Evras did not know what she could tell her elder sister. If Nethis wanted her to do something against the Kotas family, well.... if push came to shove, Evras would do it if it was for her family. But it went against her instinct, clawed at her own conscience to do something which would knowingly cause harm to Zanon. She knew he valued his family as much as she did to her, it was part of the reason why she had been so drawn to him.
As Antheia pushed the door to Nethis's room, Evras took a deep breathe, rumpling her chiton's material as she gripped her hands into fists in a quick, last ditch attempt to gain some courage, before entering with what she hoped was a breezy smile. Oh don't get her wrong, Evras loved her eldest sister, even if she was closer to Thea. Nethis watched over them like the mother the Thanasi siblings had lost, and for that Evras was grateful. But it had always been a fact of matter that Nethis and Dysius were more of the political ones, while Evras had Thea and Mihail when it came to their more flippant matters.
"Nethis, tis early for you to summon me, sister." she greeted, gliding in to stand nearer to Nethis, a soft smile on her face that glimmered of a warmth she saved for her family, and of late, for Zanon of Kotas. "Is anything of import?"

Nethis picked a few more grapes until she heard her door slide open and the faces of Antheia with Evras following her heel, made the Lady smile in pleasingly. The Lady dropped a grape back into the bowl, before she embraced her youngest sister with a tinder hug, “And yet you do not appear at the least bit unrested.” Nethis stood back a bit from her sister to examine her, “Radiant my dear sister – a little more than usual.” The Lady said with a gentle of her eyebrow, a sign of sarcasm that rolled through her tongue all too easily. Nethis raised her arm to grasp the side of her sister’s left arm with a gentle squeeze, “We will discuss what has been so heavy on my mind,” Nethis said as she looked behind her sister to catch Antheia’s eyes, “You may leave us, return once you see my sister leaving to her own place of rest.” Antheia nodded, before backing out of the room and closing the door behind her. Nethis returned her gaze onto her sister as soon as the door closed, a small smile creeping onto her angular face.
The Lady showed her sister to some seating in her room, “There is no need for standing dear sister, you seem so…excited,” Nethis said as she sat unto a rather plush seating that sat opposite to a similar chair, “Relax sister, we have time on our side.“ The elder sister as she waited for Evras to sit in the lounging sofa in the space opposite of her. Nethis could be intimidating because she is a very tactical woman, very smart and often people will find that as an intimidating trait. Especially in a woman. Nethis was watching her sister with a trained eye, observing her behaviors, because there is a lot her sister is telling her before she even opens her mouth. She knows something, or at least has something of value that would make Nethis gleeful, and happy she became Cupid’s hand in guiding his arrows.
Once everyone became settled, Nethis leaned back as she inhaled deeply, before exhaling into spoken word, “So,” Nethis said with a grin, “How long were you going to wait before you tell me about you and Zanon of Kotas.” Straight to the point, though it may feel as an interrogation, but Nethis truly wants to know if her sister has developed affections for a man of a House that would be most profitable. Nethis didn’t doubt her sister wouldn’t fall for the second Prince, not because she is soft and expressive, but she actively knew that a woman like her could not be denied. At least not by a decent man. The Thanasi sisters have gifts in several places, Evras happens to have the gift of tinder beauty, but with the heart of a Thanasi. The Lady watched her sister carefully as she awaited a response, her expression was more than amused.

Nethis was an intimidating woman - of that, Evras had no doubt about. Others may not know, but Evras was privy of the fact that her sister had been the one running the House affairs in place of their old and ailing father over the past few years. Dysius could have easily taken over years ago, but Nethis kept tight reigns on the house, and everything went through the sharp eye of the eldest Thanasi.
Accepting Nethis's hug with one of her own, the show of affection was not at all a farce. Evras's own embrace was a warm one, the kind only a younger sibling would understand when receiving from the elder one, a sibling whom had watched over them her whole life. It was difficult to explain, the kind of skittishness Evras would feel around Nethis. She knew that Nethis would never harm her, yet her eldest sister still somewhat intimidated her in inexplainable matters.
She flushed, not giving Nethis an answer when she spoke of her radiance. Instead, Evras allowed the other to guide her to the plush seats, settling herself gently on the velvet covers of the seating. Her eyes flickered to Nethis, irises so different from her own. Unlike her two sisters who had inherited Dionysius's gaze, Evras had gotten their mother's eyes - sharp, piercingly so. They were a startling shade of blue-green that stood out against the fair skin of their family, and as expressive as the lady behind them.
Nodding, Evras forced her tense, nervous muscles to relax upon her sister's instruction, taking a deep breathe. An easier smile slipped to her lips - until her sister dropped the one name that would easily make Evras freeze.
Her breathe stopped, her heart skipped a beat. Anyone else's first instinct would be to lie, but Evras knew better. It was a futile effort to lie to Nethis, she would know in an instant. So Evras bit her lip, her uncertainty showing in her eyes, before she finally gave in. "I... I met him that night... a few months back? When you insisted I follow Thea to the performance. We..." she paused, but decided to glaze over details a little. "He invited me to a party at his residences, and we corresponded. I've been back a few times since." Evras flicked her gaze up to Nethis, and gave a tentative, uncertain smile. "Is there anything specific you would like to know, sister?"

Nethis kept her attention on her sister as she was very eager to hear what her sister has been up to with the second Prince. The elder sister could only imagine, but she seriously wants a bond between Thanasi and Kotas, because the best ways to defeat your enemies is to break them down. House Thanasi infiltrating Kotas will secure the family for generations, so already the Kotas are losing against Nethis plans. As soon as there is a child in the picture, the Thanasi would have defeated the Kotas House because now there would be someone of Thanasi blood destined to be King. Those are plans, because all Nethis really thinks about is the future of the generations after her. House Thanasi would still be growing, because of what Nethis has done and sacrificed for her familial blood… Marriage and a family for her will remain on the backburner until a generation has been secured – she refuses to bring in her own child into world where her family is not remembered. Nethis refuses her name to be forgotten and discarded.
The eldest child sat up with interest as she heard her sister speak, an eyebrow arched as she went on… Very cute, she was keeping a modest story, but Evras should worry not for her sister to judge her business with Zanon of Kotas. Nethis only counts her sister did what will secure the bond – make a man feel like he is a man. Nethis looked at her sister with a smirk, she almost giggled, “Little sister, modesty is an honest quality, especially in the crowd’s eye,” Nethis says with the shake of her head, “We are not in the crowd’s eye, your only witnesses are I and that of the gods – the gods already know what you’ve did.” Nethis said as she leaned back, while crossing her legs as well as crossing her arms, “I on the other hand is still waiting for details, you wouldn’t dare tell the outside world.” She wasn’t that impressed with the shorter told story, she wants it all. Everything should be told, because Nethis needs to know what she needs to do to move things along, or to sit quietly and let things be.
“You met him, he invited you to his home for a party, which is very interesting he done so quickly…. Seems to me he had an immediate liking to your delicacy,” Nethis tilted her head a bit, “Did your delicacy lead to the bedroom little sister? Is that why you visit so often, or are you saving your chastity to run away with Lady Artemis in the moonlight?” Nethis joked, also praying to herself that she doesn’t find an arrow piercing her heart. “Those are the specifics I would like to hear,” Nethis said lightly, before continuing, “Also, has he said anything significant about his house… How is doing?”

Trust Nethis to ask for details, of course. Her cheeks flamed when she saw the smirk her eldest sister wore, and she dipped her head in an instinctive response to hide the flush that warmed her cheeks. Brought up as a proper lady, she was unlike Thea and Nethis in that Evras simply did not speak of her exploits - not that she's had a lot. Nethis was cunning and held attention in court, attractive enough to attract others like bees to honey. Thea held the air of mystery and charm.
Evras? Evras only had beauty. She had intelligence, but none of the sly ways her elder siblings had. Instead, it was her loyalty to her family that had Evras doing as her elder sister bidded. With a heart that was soft and easily malleable, even if Zanon had not been as charming as he was, Evras would likely still pursue the relationship under Nethis's directive.
Now that it was a question of the heart however, it made everything a lot more complicated.
Of course, Nethis was right. Hera would no doubt frown upon her actions as an unwedded woman who partook in such actions - but Evras was powerless against Zanon's charms, great as they were. Biting her lip as the elder one pressed for details, her silence signified the way her thoughts turned, as she tried to figure out just how much details Nethis wanted. "His house... is doing fine, sister. Nothing untoward, although I doubt he would allow me to know of anything tha would be confidential within the royal family." she murmured, uncertainty clear in her blue-green eyes.
Clearing her throat, her words came out haltingly whilst Evras tried to comply to what Nethis asked without being all too crude in her explanations. "I... we have... Well... I have, somewhat, visited his bedroom, sister. I visit often on his invites, but... Prince Zanon is a charming man. I... do not think tis a simple matter of his position any longer, Nethis." For once, Evras's eyes turned to her sister, a question clear in her eyes. While she would not say no if asked, Evras was hoping her sister would not simply use her as a pawn in her games to gain the royal family's position for the House Thanasi.
She doubted Zanon would ever forgive her if she had to do something that would harm his family.

“I am only curious dear sister, because it isn’t like you have told me anything of this new brewing relationship as of yet…” Nethis wasn’t ready to tell her sister of her true intentions, because she wants the love between the houses to be true. If she learns of Nethis’s plans now, then the relationship would be too young before it disintegrates, because neither one would believe it was a mutual relationship. Nethis maybe overthinking this process, but she would rather be right and over-concerned than wrong and ignorant… The qualms of being the strategist, there will be times her sister will be angry with Nethis for going around and making moves with her life, but their lives are not their own. Everyone’s fates have already been pre-woven in the fabrics of time, so what is to happen will surely happen if the Fates make it to be. Evras’s happiness is being regarded, which is why Nethis didn’t choose just anyone to set the stage for Cupid’s aim – if anything, Nethis should be getting a thank in the later years for naming the two. “I am only curious of the House itself, because it is not everyday someone of House Thanasi just walks into the royal House – at least not on official business.” Nethis said with a small smile, “Trust me sister, I am very pleased you have found someone worth your time and at your speed.”
The elder sister sat up slowly as she stood from her sofa with mischief in her eyes as she walked towards a neighboring table, “Oh sister, you stumble upon your words – I am not sure if you’re nervous about the whole thing, or uneasy about telling me anything you’ve…discovered or felt?” Nethis said as she grabbed two chalices and filled them with wine made from the grapes of her orchard, she could already taste the smoothness of the brew – a blessing from Dionysus. Nethis turned to her sister with the chalices in her hands, the elder spoke with a smile as she offered her sister a chalice of wine, “Either way, allow Dionysus to ease your tongue and move your spirit,” Nethis said as she took her seat next to her sister, already taking a sip of the rich wine, “Are you one to ignore Dionysus’s gift to you? I would hope not.”
Nethis then laid back, before crossing her legs looking at her sister with an expectant look. Wine was not man-made, but a gift from Dionysus, so when one is offered his boon it is only polite to drink its contents. Although, she is hoping her sister would open up to Nethis a little more on her time with Zanon of Kotas, at least enough so to know that her sister is advancing forward and the other parts of Nethis’s plan can be set in motion.

Seated with her legs in front of her, Evras was unconsciously worrying at the fine silken threads of her chiton, her eyes darting every which way except for directly at her sister. "Tis naught much to tell, sister." her soft reply came as a murmur, as if she wasn't entirely sure how should she get to it. It had been Nethis who had pushed her to speak to Zanon. Evras was in the dark for most of her plans - as she was of most of Nethis's decisions. The youngest of three sisters, she had never been in the position to scheme such ideas - neither was she of the mindset to. Evras was pure of heart, loyal to her family due to the blood they share. Nethis had plans. Evras was honor bound to help her.
But now she had Zanon. And her heart pulled her in a different direction.
Nethis's small smile resulted in Evras giving a smile of herself to her eldest sibling, a shy flush on her cheeks. Yes, the whole affair was speedy, too fast for Evras to even explain. Like a fool, she had fallen quite true and fast for the handsome prince, yet he did not push her away, and they both simply found it more addictive to spend more and more time in his presence, or better yet, in his arms.
Watching as her sister stood, Evras momentarily allowed herself to be in awe of how easily Nethis slipped into such a stately attitude in such a short period of time, before the other spoke. "I have not discovered anything at all, Nethis. We speak of no serious matter, nor of houses or royalty. We simply speak of.... everything, and nothing at all." The true words of a smitten young girl in the first throes of love. Zanon had surprised Evras at how easily it was to tell him of her life, of her siblings and of her dreams.
Perhaps that was already the first indication.
Accepting the wine from her sister, Evras took her first gulp, the slightly acidic taste of the liquid awakening her tastebuds. "Of course not, Nethis." her sister had always received respect as was due to her from the youngest. Evras was well trained. Taking another gulp to finish up the half-filled chalice the elder one had handed to her, Evras bit her lips, tossing words in her mind before finally speaking.
"He... I have great affection for the prince, Nethis. If... I would continue seeing him, shall I not?" she murmured, flickering her glassy gaze to her sister, feeling the warmth from Dionysus's gift starting from neck up.

Love is an interesting concept, though what intrigues Nethis about love is that it’s very powerful. When used, the power to take over empires and destroy kingdoms, and all it requires is the affections of another. Men can be so easily swayed by their emotions, despite the discussion that women are emotion-driven, but is far from being truthful. Women are the drivers of emotion, men do not know how to control themselves, at least most of them cannot communicate or operate on how they feel. Therefore, love and anger are the easiest emotions to manipulate and drive me to a woman’s bidding, of course when done correctly. A man wants a woman who can support him, while he is away, and accept that he is the patriarch – the one in charge. What men do not understand is that their complex thinking is outmatched from that of a woman, so they must find pleasure in decreasing a woman’s worth to uplift themselves. Nethis is not that kind of woman. She knows she will be the smartest woman in the room, and the world knows it. If she is to be with a man, then it will be with a man she can control... If not control, then he must understand that she is not a push over.
Zanon of Kotas was being manipulated without knowing that his feelings were being used against him. Of course, Evras does not have knowledge of Nethis’s plans, but she counted on the two souls to find common ground. Cupid was on her side when he fired his arrows, now Nethis has her hands clasped around the necks of Kotas – Vangelis would have been her way in, but he denied someone who was undeniable. Sounds like a homosexual to Nethis. Homosexuality wouldn’t stop the elder sister from getting what she wants, instead of her sisters, she could use her brother to seal that deal. It is all about using your resources, and Nethis will never be the type to not use what she has at her disposal. Evras was being used, but not in a way that her sister wouldn’t necessarily disagree – what she doesn’t know will not hurt her. All she must know is how she feels about Zanon of Kotas, because everything else will fall into place.
Nethis took a sip of her wine, her eyes still upon her sister as she awaited an answer. The elder sister listened to her younger sister and was very amused as she took in what was being said. From how Evras spoke of Zanon of Kotas and refused to give much detail was already an indication she was guarded of him. What reason to be guarded over someone you do not fully know? There is no reason other than love. It is the budding of love, the wanting to see the other and embrace one another, and Nethis could see it in her sister’s eyes. It is there, the two will only need time to let what they have grow into something beautiful, because Nethis is counting on that love to mature into something else growing within Evras. Everything that Nethis is doing is to secure her family’s generation, so what needs to be done to give her family permanency is what Nethis plans to do. “Do what you feel is right my dear sister, I do not believe what you’re feeling now is to be ashamed of,” Nethis continued, “I believe Cupid has pierced your heart in such short timing – I don’t believe you should ignore it.”

Her cheeks flushed when Nethis pointed out Eros probably had a part to play in how she felt now. She was no fool to deny it - while Evras was not yet ready to call such feelings love, there was no denying she felt a great deal of affection for the one she called her prince. The words in the letters they exchanged - even the act of exchanging letters itself was what Evras would, had she been a third party observer, called twitterpated behavior. For two who lived a mere five minute carriage ride away, the exchange of letters was entirely unnecessary, yet Evras found a thrill each time the messenger boy returned with a parchment with her name written upon it in Zanon's familiar scrawl.
Her dark eyes observed Nethis, and Evras bit her lip, before nodding. She did not feel ashamed - merely wondering if her eldest would approve of their relationship, or if Nethis simply saw it as a gain in her favor.
But try as she may, Evras was no mind reader. She could only hope, and hoped she did. Standing up, the younger one gave a respectful dip of her head to Nethis, and placed her now-empty chalice on a nearby table. "I don't plan on ignoring it, sister. I... will inform you should anything else come up." With another dip of her head and a slight bend in her knee, Evras bent down to press a gentle kiss to her sister's cheeks as a means of bidding goodbye, before departing the room, her mind still going over the words she had just exchanged with Nethis.
