It was not often that Nethis called Mihail to one of the private meeting rooms within the Thanasi home like this. They were far more often reserved for those with which she held her conferences; at times his father and at times his elder siblings. As the youngest, he had always been a little more coddled by his sisters and a little less privy to the goings-on of the world of mysterious business and secretive transactions in which Nethis, in particular, appeared to live. Nonetheless, today she had requested that he come and attend her in one of those very chambers, and he had, of course, been obliged to do so.
With no information whatsoever to go on save for the rarity of the occasion, he could only assume this meeting would be a formal one. Panic ran through the back of his mind, a fear that this would be the meeting where Nethis would reveal she had known of his dalliances with the same sex and show her disapproval, or that she would use the opportunity to throw him into a betrothal he had no want of. He hated to say the words, but Mihail was never absolutely convinced he could trust his oldest sister. She knew how much he loved that girl he had met by the temples twice now, the beautiful Euphemia, and yet, Nethis had not seemed so keen to let him ramble.
And ramble he could, for hours and hours, for that woman had so quickly stolen his heart. He could melt in her gaze, spend forever watching the light dancing in her irises and shifting the colour of her eyes from a gorgeous mossy green to a shining brown and everything in between. He so dearly wished to run a hand through her honey-blonde hair - that copper-blended chaotic gold - and tug her close enough to...
He stopped himself. Now was not the time for such fantasies.
He had thus dressed somewhat elegantly, the deep red of the chiton made darker still by the whiteness of his skin, a metallic belt and clasp holding both in place. It was a smarter outfit than he might have worn to merely spend time with his family, though not as dignified as what he might wear to court. For added intimidation - to counter that apparent belief that the Thanasi brothers were weaker than their female counterparts - he had wrapped his beloved snake around his shoulders, a slight warning to any who might have been awaiting him alongside Nethis that he could harm just as easily as she.
Thus, at the appointed time, he had made his way to the meeting room to find his sister. "Net!" he exclaimed, rushing forwards to wrap her in a tight embrace, although he knew his sister was not always one for such closeness. Call it a defence mechanism of sorts, to prevent her attempting to control him too soon, to try and obtain what he wanted from their meeting before she had a chance to speak. He was just as manipulative as she, in his own. "You're not going to try and force me into anything horrible, are you?"

There will soon be a new meeting with the Baron of Skleros, which prompted Nethis to meet with her youngest brother to explain where his place in everything will soon be. Mihail currently doesn’t have a clue to what Nethis has in store for him, though he should soon expect there to be because he is of age to marry. Both of Nethis’ brothers, were old enough to marry, but the opportunities may not have been the best… Nethis is a careful planner, she doesn’t do anything until she knows the timing is near perfect, which will minimize any faults or problems. Other than the problems the Fates have stitched into Nethis’s destiny, the Lady has accounted for the possibility of failure despite it not being an option for Nethis. Still, the only issue she currently has may not even be an issue, but Nethis hasn’t told her brother of his marriage with a niece of Skleros. When Nethis is making her plans, she is assuming all her sisters believe in the same future as she, because everything that is being done is for the generations after. If Mihail doesn’t understand that, then Nethis did not know her brother as much as she thought she did.
Nethis sat in her room, comfortably dressed in her black robe as she held her snake with gentle care, the black adder coiled itself on her hand and down her arm as she kissed the head of the venomous snake. Scylla was a very beautiful snake, she is grey with brownish spots that goes down her body like smoke clouds, but what makes her even more unique is the horn upon the tip of her nose. Very venomous, Scylla’s venom once injected will cause necrosis and the bleeding from external areas. Nethis rarely uses the venom of her own snake to end the lives of her foes, because the symptoms and effects are closely related to that of a viper. The one thing Nethis would hate to return to her is the news of her committing murder, and there are some Colchians who would love to see Nethis of Thanasi fall. Nethis loves her vipers, she was gifted them by a man of a Noble house, who shall remain unnamed, as a reminder of his allegiance to her. The Nobleman gave her two vipers, she named Scylla and Typhaon, who are vipers of different species. Typhaon was larger, black, and has a nastier attitude than Scylla, and Typhaon only allows Nethis to handle him – outside of her would mean danger. Scylla and Typhaon had several hatchlings together, but she’s only gifted one to Mihail. A little token of appreciation from his sister, though it has always been a motive of power and duty towards Nethis.
Scylla continued to flick her tongue as she was smelling the room around her, though she remains tangled in her owner’s grasp. Nethis eyed her prized viper with awe as she took a finger on her opposite hand and gently grazed the Scylla’s head until she was interrupted by one of her handmaids. Without jumping towards the sound of a knock, Nethis voiced her command, “Enter.” Almost immediately, she heard her door open and a handmaid entered, bowing her head in respect. The handmaid spoke calmly, “Well met ma’lady, you’ve sent for me.” Nethis didn’t even turn to address the handmaid as she stood up with Scylla still in her hold as she answered, “No, I did not ask for you, but that of Antheia,” The Lady then turned to look at the handmaid for a second, before turning around to place her viper outside in her small orchard. Nethis finally turned around to look at the handmaid, “You will do, after I am done with you, please send Antheia to me – I am curious to why she refused to adhere my call for her.”
The handmaid was about to speak, but Nethis interrupted, “I am not interested in your reasoning, just adhere to what I need you to do.” The handmaid quickly fell silent as she allowed Nethis to continue speaking. Nethis walked towards her bed as she continued to speak, “I want you to go and gather my brother from where ever he may be and bring him to the chamber on the eastern wing." Nethis continued to say as she dropped her robe appearing in nude as she began to change into a chiton robe, which she grabbed from her bedside. “I do not need you to guide him there, I am sure he knows the way – what I want you to do is emphasize the importance of him meeting me today. He needs to see me before the night blankets Colchis.” While she was halfway nude, her breast still visible, Nethis questioned the handmaid, "Do you understand?” The handmaid quickly nodded, before Nethis spoke, “Good, then why are you still in my chambers?” The handmaid bowed her head, “Very well my lady.” Nethis eyed the handmaid as she turned from her and exited her room, while she finished getting dressed.
After getting ready, Nethis slipped out of her room heading in the direction of the meeting room that she often sets for business. Upon arriving, she kept the doors opened for her brother to have easy access into the room. The Lady gracefully walked inside of the meeting room in her white chiton robe as she read a few notes that were still on the table that she made a few days before. Nethis was brought out of her thoughts from the presence of her brother, who entered the room with joy that unmatched her serious expression. Nethis looked up, a smile quickly sprung unto her face, despite the mood she was in prior. Nethis accepted her brother’s hug as she responded warmly, “Little brother,” the elder sibling continued, “I will never force you into anything that will cause you harm.” Nethis said she pulled back to look at her brother, “Though, everything we do is for the fate of her family, yes?” Nethis said as she expected an answer that would please her. Slave girls will not please Nethis.

Mihail had been right to assume this meeting was one of a pressing nature. It was evident from the moment he walked into the meeting chamber and saw his oldest sister, and even more so once he had wrapped his arms around her and heard her words. It was enough to understand what she was angling at with this conference: he was old enough now to know precisely what Nethis meant by each of her quips and mannerisms. Everything the Thanasis did was for their good as a family; everything was carefully planned and coordinated with the ultimate goal of ensuring their future and bettering their position in the world. Either she had discovered something he would sooner she hadn't, or she wanted to talk about the girl who had so quickly captured his soul.
Releasing her from his embrace, he fell back onto a soft-cushioned klismos, allowing the reptile on his shoulders to slither onto the table beside him so that it might roam the room as it willed while he spoke to his sister. The expression on his face implied this was not the first time Nethis had brought up the unofficial family saying. "Everything we do is for the good of the family. Forging victory. I am well aware of our words, Net. I doubt you called me here for a lesson on our family history." Nodding his head towards the snake now moving freely, he added: "Besides, Draco has missed you, I'm sure." It was true that brother and sister had not had so much opportunity to meet lately as they had in the past, and Mihail would play that to his advantage as was necessary. "You've been so busy lately that we've hardly had the time to talk. Don't let's spend this whole conversation on political matters. I want the time to chat with my oldest sister just a little."
He glanced up at Nethis through thick eyelashes, a small and ever-so-slightly petulant pout on his lips as he tried to deter her attention from the matter at hand. It was a challenge to distract his sister; it always had been. Nethis was even tougher than people assumed, and people tended to think quite a lot of her. She had always been incredibly strong-minded.
"Sit, Net," he told her, gesturing at the seat across the table from his. "I don't like seeing you so stressed all the time, always looking over notes and planning things. You need to spend some more time with your favourite brother." Mihail paused for a moment to give a much more serious look, as though to make sure he knew he wasn't just being childish. "I know you wish to talk about Euphemia with me but could we not talk about something else a little first before we're forced to get onto the subject? I know you must have some sort of love life as well, mustn't you? We never get to talk about your secrets. Surely there must be some man you have your sights on. You'll have to tell me all about him. Is he handsome?"

Nethis is strategic, whatever she does and will do is based off strategies made prior to her actions. In other words, she rarely does something without purpose or without carefully weighing the odds of consequences. The Lady has been doing something right for a very longtime, because her name has not been tainted as a criminal, yet it is tethered to serpent though the world shouldn’t have had to guess that. Coming from the Thanasi House, being cunning and manipulative is like their eyes being blue and hair as dark as a raven’s feather – its innate. Although, not everyone is willing to challenge Nethis, because of who she is and what she is capable of… Generally, her siblings do not want to receive an ear full of their elder sibling, which is what they will get if there was ever a challenge to her plans. Nethis dances around her brothers, which is why she is hesitant to find Dysius a spouse being he is the eldest male… He will have rights to be the head of their family House, which means the power Nethis currently has may not be so once he is married. Even now, as a nobleman and baron, Dysius has a lot more capabilities than Nethis who is simply the Lady of the House. Again, that is why Nethis has been conditioning her brothers since they were young…providing kindness and trust, so one day the likelihood they would totally depower their sister is slim.
Marrying Mihail is a lot more pressing than Dysius, because Nethis isn’t willing to lose too much of her power right away. Mihail can bring more children into this world that would bore the Thanasi name, continuing the line that exists in Colchis. What concerns Nethis is the possibility her brother is not willing to accept marriage outside of his own wants, which is not something that will please his sister. If he does not wish to marry a woman his sister has chosen, then he should find a woman of a noble upbringing that will satisfy her. Otherwise, there will problems within the Thanasi court, which are problems Nethis would hate to bring about Mihail… Her young, sweet brother doesn’t deserve the wrath of Nethis, no one of her family should meet that fate.
Still standing, her eyes remaining upon her brother, and she quickly responded, “Although, it seems you are in need of a constant reminder, little brother,” Nethis went on to say, “I will not bore you with our apparent family nuisances.” Nethis takes their family traditions and meanings very seriously, because the Thanasi House is everything to her and her want to lead was just as important. If you do not fall in line, then you will be left behind – simple as that. Nethis would truly hate to do that to any of her siblings, but the future must be protected at all cost and she hopes her brother will find the necessity in understanding. She is very focused right now, changing the subject isn’t going to shift Nethis anywhere, because she has a purpose in calling her brother into these chambers – catching up on lost time, in some details, is not what she wants to accomplish.
Nethis was to speak, but her brother continued to speak and what was said made the elder sister arch an eyebrow. The woman in white, who remained standing watched her brother like a serpent would watch its prey, focused and unnerving, she wasn’t angry in anyway but the topic at hand deserves her attention. Nethis was glad how upfront her brother is about the discussion of Euphemia, but in no way is the elder sister willing to share anything further than what needs to be said currently at the table. After her brother was finished speaking, Nethis sat upon the stool behind the table, keeping herself erect as she looked at her brother. Silence. It is unnerving, sometimes terrifying and now it is a little bit of both. If these were normal circumstances in a place of work, someone speaking to Nethis in a way that was just done would have ended with a very vile Nethis. “The reasons of my stress is because my psyche is not resolved… It is not healing, because I cannot rest until you my sweet brother is wedded to a bride of suitable standing.” Nethis kept a serious look upon her face, “I am glad you know of what needs to be discussed today, but my love life cannot currently make or break our family line, generations ahead,” Nethis continued, “Therefore no my brother, the discussion of my love life is not up for investigation quite yet. The discussion of your infatuations of a woman not born of noble-blood is our focus”

All this fuss about his marriage and Mihail barely understood why. He was the youngest of all the Thanasi siblings: he would have assumed his future union was one of the least important of the lot. Dysius would be a priority, the need to secure an heir lest something happen (Mihail, of course, stood as his heir at present but the position of Baron did not seem as appealing to him as it might have to some) and then perhaps he would be considered, but only as a secondary option. All this priority and responsibility that Nethis was placing on him seemed utterly unnecessary. Why not let him have the woman of which he so often dreamed?
"I am not in need of any reminders, Net. I know that family is everything, I have said as much to you on various occasions, and yet I believe you might have come to an incorrect assumption that I do not care for us as much as you." He cocked his head to one side slightly as he spoke, attempting to gauge his sister's reaction. Mihail did not usually have a problem reading other's emotions, but Nethis had always been a complicated one, and she was the sort who might still give a bright smile as she plotted your demise, and the sort who might not shed a tear despite being torn up inside. He doubted he would ever gain the ability needed to probe her mind so easily. But, on this occasion, it did not seem to him as though his sister was too angered by his words so far, and thus he continued speaking, choosing to make it clear exactly how he felt about the implication that he was not interested in the family's benefit. "But I am here to produce more Thanasis, is that not the case? Dysius will have his children, and they shall be his heirs, and you and all my sisters will end up married away as benefits the family, and there is no need for me save to continue our name. I can do that regardless of my choice of bride." His expression had shifted to one he rarely used with his siblings, darker and angrier, with brows furrowed and lips pressed together as he awaited a reaction.
Evidently, all the cuteness and the charm that Mihail favoured when handling his sisters would be of no use today. He could be harsh, and it appeared harshness was to be a necessity. He waited for Nethis to seat herself, watching her almost inquisitively to see what she had to say. It was nothing surprising, only confirming his suspicions that Euphemia would indeed be the focus of their conversation. He was prepared for such a discussion.
Mihail crossed his arms, raising his gaze to meet hers. "Euphemia may still be of noble blood. I do not know her birth house, nor does she know mine. As far as the girl is aware, I may as well be some peasant from Pieria. I am bringing no wrong to the Thanasi name, and she is not using me for it. Besides, even if she knew my House, she would be stupid to attempt to wrong us. Last I was aware, we are not particularly well known for our hospitality towards those who attempt to ruin us." Nethis did need to understand that Mihail could hold his own despite what it might appear. "What is so wrong with Dysius that you are so concerned by my future marriage and not occupied attempting to pair him off?"

Nethis did need to understand that Mihail could hold his own despite what it might appear. "What is so wrong with Dysius that you are so concerned by my future marriage and not occupied attempting to pair him off?"
Nethis placed a finger on her lip as she leaned lightly on her thumb, while listening to her brother speak. All should could think about was the possibility that her brother has fallen in love with a servant girl, the horror it would be for the family to have a wasted line. A servant girl will have nothing to offer, because what could she offer other than her womb? Getting just any kind of woman off the streets of Colchis would be like trying to pick up a street dog and bringing it inside the house. Gods awful if that were to ever happen. Nethis is putting her foot down with Mihail, he may have his wants, but nothing in this world will ever go exactly as planned or in your favor. Therefore, there are always contingencies, or at least that there should be other options, if something goes wrong. Mihail has been coddled all his life, does he truly understand the role in this family? Being a Baron means some stature of power and influence, adding relevance to his name, but that shouldn’t have to be the only thing he should be after. Being a Master of something should appeal to himself, which only makes the family stronger… Ambition is something Nethis needs to draw out of her little brother, hell, being able to sacrifice his wants is another thing.
There are things Nethis has done for the family that she has kept to herself, because she sees the vision of Thanasi greatness. Everything that was done has been done to get everyone to a state of luxury as well as power. All Nethis’s plans are crafted carefully, very carefully and she doesn’t appreciate any means of impediments coming from her family, she does expect it from outside forces. Nethis can already see her brother being a problem needing correction, because this Euphemia will be the end of him and Nethis will be damned before that happens.
Mihail spoke in a way that Nethis has yet to hear from her youngest sibling, which was surprising for her. He was putting his foot down, Nethis could tell by how guarded he grew over the mentioning of Euphemia. Nethis tilted her head a bit as she arched a brow in small surprise towards her brother’s words. Mihail believes he holds all the answers, which was adorable because he only has an inkling in comparison to Nethis – this is a game the eldest sibling has been playing for a very long time and was taught by the biggest player, their father. What Mihail believes he knows is premature notions, the truth of the matter was that the love he has for a peasant girl will not get him to the places he needs to be. Maybe it is about time someone speaks to Mihail in a way that challenges his ideals, because he never questioned his sister before. Now is not the time.
“That is where you are wrong, Mihail.” Nethis said as she sat up to address her brother, “Your place as a son to Dionysios of Thanasi is much the same as for Dysius. Of course, he has first claim as head of the House, but gods prevent the chance that for some reason he does not rise – you will have to take his place as head of the house. You will have to be prepared for that possibility, marrying a woman of noble status who has lived in a House of politics will be better prepared to stand by your side than some servant girl or a peasant.” Nethis eyed her brother down, he believes he could argue with his sister, but she never called him in to argue, “You may argue otherwise, but brother I have played this game much, much longer than you have. Arguing the status and ability of a peasant will never be a stance to win. Peasants may learn of truths and secrets, but you cannot expect their loyalty to sway only to you. If your lover is of the Kotas Househould, then her loyalty will not be to just you but to our enemies as well. Do you know see the complications?” Nethis continued, “Or are you just too enthralled by what you call love to see the truth of the matter?”
Nethis eyed her brother intensely, “You speak to me as if you are prepared for this world, little brother,” Nethis continued, “Our reputation is true to our actions, but that has never stopped enemies before. You do not know everything Mihail, and you will not act as if you do,” Nethis continued, “Marrying the first woman you believe you love is a dangerous game that I am not willing to play. The fact that you must question her status of nobility is only clear to me that she is not, but that she is in fact a servant or that peasant Evras spoke of.” This time Nethis was growing agitated, “You do not know Mihail and you are acting as if you are sure of everything…. I have coddled you long enough – what I have taught Dysius is what I will teach you.”
“You will learn of this girl’s true identity and this will be the last I hear of your infatuations of a peasant.” Nethis rolled her eyes in annoyance, “There is not a drop of peasant blood in your body, the gods have blessed you with nobility, and mixing our line with that of peasantry or servitude is disrespectful. If father was in his prime and heard of how you are speaking, or even the fact you are considering anything less than a Lady – you would get a lot more than what I am giving you.” The mentioning of Dysius only bothered her more. “Dysius’s fate is already in the works, though it is only you I have to be concerned with – he is not considering marrying a peasant, but a noble woman from the Leventi House. A NOBLE, woman.”
Nethis laid back, calming herself in the char that she sat, though her eyes were still on Mihail, “Even if you wanted to marry this Euphemia, there is an entire process we must go through. Meetings must be hand. Plans must be made. Nothing is made off of a whim. Therefore, her nobility is important. What do you even know of her life, Mihail? What is it that she has to offer that will bring our House into greatness?”

Mihail's gaze naturally turned away from Nethis, unwilling to face his sister as she spoke so harshly. She was not wrong when she said she had coddled him: he was acutely aware of that truth of which he was so commonly reminded, as though to assure him that any fantasies he might have of political or military greatness were nothing more than that, that his sheer upbringing made him weak. It was not his fault he had been born after his brother, nor 'twas it wholly his fault that Mother had been incapable of having more children after he and he was hence the youngest. Mihail was just as capable of his elder brother, but he could not believe for a moment that he would one day be forced to become head of the Dynasteía Thanasi. Solely because his brother could not do the job, he doubted Dysius would be so willing to give up the position.
"And if I am forced to become the head of this house, then I am sure I can teach my wife that which is necessary." Besides, Mihail highly doubted that even if he was thrown into such a position, it was unlikely Nethis or Thea would lessen their hold over him, always so eager to maintain their power over the Thanasi household. Drumming his fingers on the tabletop as he spoke, the rhythm matching his words, he added: "I cannot help that you are older than I; of course you have had greater experience with political matters. But surely, Net, surely[/i] you can understand that people are not always so untrustworthy as we deem them? Solely because Euphemia may reside within the Kotas home means nothing negative - do you not crave the opportunity to have someone within their home who might steal away their secrets in a manner Evras never could?"[/b] Granted, Mihail did not doubt that, much like he, Nethis had her spies around Colchis, but he could not imagine her turning down an opportunity for more. "Perhaps I might love her but love," he spat the word at her, almost as though horrified with himself that he might feel something so common. "Love has nothing to do with it. I know full well what I am doing."
Draco slithered back across the tabletop, intertwining himself around the youngest Thanasi's arm and pulling his gaze away from his sister as he listened to the rest of her words. While Mihail was not unintelligent, and he could often prove self-important about that very fact, but this was no place to make clear that he knew more than Nethis appeared to think, half-acting as though ignoring her while playing with the viper. He said nothing, allowing her to finish speaking and granting himself the opportunity to think through his response more clearly. Mihail way well have had the skill to manipulate many, and there was no doubt in his mind he had achieved some degree of trickery when it came to his family as well, but he could not manage so quickly without a moment of consideration.
Once she was silent again, relaxed in her seat and opening the floor to him, it was another moment before Mihail spoke, chewing on his lower lip in his moment of hesitation.
"What do I know?" he repeated, admittedly struggling to come up with much that he indeed knew about the girl. For what was he aware of save for her name and her beauty? He knew she was religious - but that was nothing strange - and he knew her hair appeared like bright gold. He knew of his feelings, and the way his extremities shuddered with a thrill at even at the merest thought of the woman. But what else Mihail could say about her...he knew not. It was a flaw he had not reflected upon before entering this confrontation, and he had to admit to finding himself lost for words. Nethis did not care for such fancies as looks and feelings; she only desired material points. Thus, he did what he did the best and diverted the conversation elsewhere.
"And what do you know, Net?" he demanded, expression now matching hers, a fierceness about him that was rarely seen by his dearest siblings. "What reason have you that there may not be one Thanasi who brought a peasant into the bloodline for love, save for politics? My blood is royal, our children would remain royal, and her blood would become noble. She might not begin as such, but she shall become it from our union. You have no reason to deny me this marriage."

Nethis finished her rant, though her eyes remain to hold fire of both passion and anger; although, she is not very angry with her young brother, because there is an understanding of his resistance… Nethis was once his age, though her values and ideals were very different… Still, she too had young love that she too was reluctant to give up. Young Love is not real love but the fantasy of something you yearn for, and it may not be of the ideal person. Mihail maybe in love with Euphemia, but he doesn’t know enough of the slave woman to marry and Nethis doesn’t just mean her background and her faults. Nethis cares about the family history, name, and wealth. She just wishes Mihail would grow into that kind of mindset as it would better prepare him. Even if he doesn’t become the head of the family, he will become a Baron and his denial of that role or any role of power is non-negotiable. Everything Mihail needs to be as a noble was ingrained in him at a young age, at least enough so where he can understand and hold his own. Marrying a woman who is not of equal measure would mean she has to be taught the same things a babe would have learned.
The black-haired woman rubbed her temples as she tries to relieve the tension that’s growing in her head. The Lady sighed, “It will take time Mihail, time that she does not have.” Nethis said as she kept an eye on her youngest brother, “I do not expect you to be able to teach a woman her role as a Lady and as a wife – a feat I do not doubt you are able to do, but she will gain more from a woman who is already of that status.” Nethis would rather have a woman who is born of noble birth because she would have been taught all things necessary of being a Lady starting at a young age. Being a Lady of a House is a specific role deemed for women, which can also be a powerful role if she uses it wisely. Nethis, personally, does not a woman she cannot trust stir the hand of her House by simply being the wife of the Head or Baron. If Nethis cannot control her brothers, then the wife at question should and will understand that Nethis of Thanasi is not someone to play with.
“That is where you are wrong little brother – all people are untrustworthy.” Nethis spoke with a serious tone, “She may be of the purest heart, but all it takes is a simple threat to tremble her bones and move against us, or them.” Nethis leaned forward as she questioned her brother, “Are you so sure, this Euphemia, will die protecting our House? Will she die to protect you? Will she do everything in her power to make sure that House Thanasi lives several generations from now.”
The Head Lady leaned back in her chair as she rested her arms on the rests as she tilted her head to the side. She was growing bored of the topic, because it was obvious to Nethis that Mihail isn’t letting go of Euphemia. Nethis asked him what he truly knew of the woman he was so in love with and she was not surprised that he could not deliver. Fact of the matter is, Mihail only feels what believes could happen, but not what is there. He believes he could make Euphemia something that she is not and Nethis would hate to waste all that time prepping a girl who could not tell the difference between a Baron and the Head of a House. The Elder sibling looked at Mihail, her eyes were almost pleading as she wanted her brother to just drop the topic altogether. Releasing himself of a woman who holds unrequited love, Nethis is protecting a brand that she has maintained for a few years now, especially since she has unofficially taken the mantle as Head of the House.
Everything she has done for House Thanasi has been in its best interest. Keeping all their secrets secret and doing just about anything to keep the outside world outside of family business. Nethis was especially hell bent when it comes to Mihail’s privacy and his life… She wants him to excel and marrying a peasant woman is not excelling, not in Nethis’s eyes, not in their father’s eyes, and most of the Noble world. Nethis only has a few moves left to keep Mihail in check, because him and his emotions are going to get their family into something less beneficial.
Mihail then turned the question on her and she was honestly not surprised by his change in direction. Mihail should never want to go there with Nethis, but perhaps today was fate… Maybe today is the day Nethis discloses a secret only three people had knowledge of… One of them being their mother. Nethis listened to her brother, she could hear the uproar in his voice, and she has to say it was interesting to witness such backbone. Mihail does not know how much Nethis has done for him, she has coddled him intentionally, because she doesn’t want him to know a life where his next meals are privileges, instead of his right. To why she did what she had to do. Mihail does not understand how far Nethis is willing to go to get what she wants, and shedding a white lie on a truth is not out of the question.
Once Mihail was done with his rant, Nethis spoke immediately with a sharp tone, “I have every reason to deny it little brother – every reason.” Nethis said as she held a long look with Mihail, “Everything I have done for you has been in your best interest. You deserve nothing but greatness Mihail as a Lord hailing from the Thanasi House…. A Lord to be, but your Lady cannot be the representation you could have been.” With that Nethis pulled back, intentionally saying too much to rile her brother. Nethis has done far too much for any of it to slip out of her grasp and she will be damned by the gods before she lets servant woman live off of what she has built.
The older sibling already had the papers on her desk in case she needed to use them. The Dark-haired woman moved some papers around, before finding a scroll with a broken seal that resembled the Thanasi House. Nethis held the scroll in her hands and she was ready to deliver it to Mihail, because it is time he knows of a new identity, whether it is his or not… Maybe then, by the grace of the gods he would drop that silly girl from his life. Nethis looked up at Mihail, “I’ve done everything in my power to keep you safe and to keep you here – I love you, because you are my brother.” She said as she handed Mihail the scroll, “For the future of your children, read this scroll and understand the blessings the gods have placed upon you.”
