Damascus is a large city, and one of the hottest amongst the cities in Judea, despite being settled in a curve of a mountainous region. The border of the city was surrounded by large, vast flatlands that left anyone an open target for miles if they chose to run there in pursuit, but while its days were hot, the nights were cooler, nicer in a way. Despite the hot, desert-terrain of the city, sparse greenery grew, and what grew was well treasured by the people, not least of all by Gwyneth.
She enjoyed the contrast of dry, dusty terrain and how it made the green - however little there were - look bright and welcoming. It was where she usually escaped, to the edges of the city to find some refuge from all the responsibilities she now held after the death of her sister and mother. It had not been what she had grown up expecting, so to have it all thrusted upon her meant Gwyneth had little time to get used to it, and in the early days, she even found herself having difficulty breathing when it all became too much.
But she found refuge here, right on the edges of the city, where if one climbed a little higher on a small hillock, one could see the mists that surrounded the Sheleg mountains. She came when her mother had died, and when her sister had been stoned, and now, she came whenever her father got too much, and she wanted some time alone on one of her off days. Now she came... simply because she wanted to think.
Gwyneth often wondered what it would be like right on the top, where it was capped in white. Would it be cold? She had only heard of the cold frozen water falling from the sky called snow, but she would love for nothing more then to feel it. Did it feel odd? Was it like the rain that occasionally showered down upon their dry city? Or would it feel different?
Many questions ran across her mind, the young woman naturally curious, but they were all questions no one could answer for her. She neither had the gold nor the position in life to attend the university in Damascus, as much as she'd want to, so all that was left for her to do was wonder. And it was a pasttime she often did too, right where she sat on the edge of the small hillock, her legs swinging beneath. They were covered by the material of her dark blue dress, her headscarf the same color but made of a more sheer material. Outside of her clothing, Gwyneth wore nothing else of import, for she was no one of import afterall.

He had ruined everything. He knew that. Thaddeus, for the past two weeks, had been moping about his house. Amiti helped, but he knew nothing could truly fix the fact that Gwyn had most certainly rejected him. There was no question about it. He hated losing people, absolutely hated it, especially as it triggered something within him that just made him sad. And Thaddeus had made it his life’s mission to avoid being sad, which was impossible when something like this happened. All he could do was avoid Gwyn, as it embarrassed him to be such a way, plus he didn’t need Gwyn to worry about him or to ask any questions. He just…. Couldn’t handle it. Thaddeus went about his business, which was basically all he could do, and like most things, tried to hide everything beneath everything else. Soon enough, he was the happy go lucky man everyone knew him to be.
Thaddeus liked to go for strolls in nature, as it reminded him of Yahweh’s creation and their beauty. Which is why he ended up in the forests of Judea, smiling at each and every animal as he went along. He hummed with the birds as he heard them, thankful that he had the time to still be by himself in nature. It was surely a magnificent sight. He continued to hum cheerfully to himself, before he thought of Gwyn again. He thought of how she looked, and how she had once looked at him and he stopped humming. He missed her… and as he continued to think of her, he suddenly saw her, and he stopped in his tracks and widened his eyes. What were the chances?! It must be a sign… but Thaddeus was hesitant, after she had left him like that what seemed like ages ago, and the dark haired man hung back. He leaned against a tree trunk, some feet away, and fiddled with his fingers. He watched her for a moment, before his eyes lowered to the ground. He let out a sigh, though it was pretty loud, and pretty dramatic. Enough for Gwyn to hear that he was behind her. Thaddeus again, looked miserable.

It was a peace Gwyneth treasured each time she was here, something which momentarily made her forget the immense amount of responsibility that waited for her once she returned from the hillock and had to deal with the expectations (or so she imagined) of her dead mother and sister, and the taking care of her father who was slowly getting an illness of the mind, if he didn't already have it. No physician Gwyneth brought him to knew what to do, and whatever physician she hadn't visited, she could not afford.
When a sound startled her from behind however, the girl would've almost fallen off her perch had she not caught herself in time. Quickly, she spun on her heel to take a look at what it was - only for her breathe to catch a second time when she noticed and identified the person whose sigh had been so loud, they had shocked her.
The young master of the house she served perplexed Gwyneth, and had been half the reason why she had been unable to find a peaceful night's sleep over the past two weeks. By all intents, means, purpose and logic, Gwyneth should want nothing at all to do with him. That her last attempt to find information had been foiled when she had entered the family's study room did not mean they were innocent and that it had been Ayala's fault that got her executed. That was a fact Gwyneth simply did not wish to entertain, for that meant changing her perception of the elder sister she worshipped.
But to think the worst of the Jaffe Manheeg would mean to think the worst of... Thaddeus. But how could she? His brother's may be mopey and suspicious, but Gwyneth could not believe the man she saw smile at the way stars lit up would be capable of telling a lie, could he? She had felt the cavity of her chest flutter that evening, two weeks ago at the backyard of the manheeg, and it had scared her. She couldn't.
Could she?
He had seemed suspiciously absent after that, and while Gwyneth should technically be happy that he actually did leave her alone. She found herself looking for him, giving a sigh of relief when she saw him at a distance one day still smiling. She liked his smile, Gwyneth realized. It was as if it could light up a room... thoughts she really shouldn't be having. Really.
But there he was, the sigh she had clearly heard ringing in her ears. Could it be, he wasn't as fine as he showed himself to be? Gwyneth couldn't imagine someone like Thaddeus sighing. And Yahweh forbid it be due to her actions. She had been deplorable in running away mid-sentence of his, but he had freaked her out. She had set ideas, set duties as a servant. And she had a goal to finish, she couldn't deal with feelings right now!
Yet, it didn't feel right to leave him here, and slink away. So against her better judgement, Gwyneth cleared her throat and anxiously straightened the brunette locks plaited up beneath her headscarf, before softly murmuring. "Master Thaddeus? What are you doing here?"

He had been hurt when Gwyn had walked away from him, and he felt a sinking feeling in his heart that he had messed everything up for good. Thaddeus had kept away from Gwyn for the past two weeks, wanting to give her the space she seemed to want. He, however, couldn’t help but feel abandoned for no reason at all. Which made him feel even more sorrowful, and he watched Gywn work from a distance. She was the most beautiful woman… and yet, she was becoming more and more off-limits. It was extremely frustrating and heartbreaking. Thaddeus tried to let it not destroy his heart too much, as he never really liked to have his heart be too obvious. Sometimes it was harder than usual to stay happy and bright, but he was good at keeping a straight face. He went back to business, trying to keep what was going on in his mind and in his heart, hidden.
He was out taking a walk in nature, which wasn’t out of the ordinary. He was enjoying his walk, too, humming with the birds and taking it all in. Thaddeus saw her, and even though he was surprised, he didn't show it. His posture changed, and he didn’t make a sound while he watched her. Gwyn’s back was turned, so she hadn’t seen him yet…. Thaddeus thought of turning back, and not letting her see him at all. She’d be oblivious, which would probably be better, forever. But, Thaddeus’s heart wouldn’t let him. He didn’t look up as Gwyn turned, and he continued to lean against the tree, feeling the bark underneath his weight as he rested his head against the trunk. His eyes flickered up, after what seemed like ages, after she spoke, and his mouth slid into a frown. He let out another heavy and dramatic sigh. He was upset, and this was his way of making it known how he was really feeling.
He didn’t answer her and instead scratched his arm in silence. He looked away from her before turning his whole body so that he was directly facing her. Finally. Thaddeus looked into Gwyn’s eyes. “What have I done to you, Gwyneth?” His voice was serious yet filled with despair. He looked towards the ground, towards his shoes in the dirt, planted against the tree’s roots that he was currently leaning on. There was a breeze that ran past, making the leaves shake, and yet Thaddeus still didn’t speak. Until he finally did. “You left me.” He said, looking frustrated and confused. “Why can’t we be friends?” The truth was… Thaddeus wanted to be more than friends. But it was practically forbidden. But even if they were or weren’t, it seemed like Gwyneth wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.
He just didn’t understand it.

Gwyneth bit her bottom lip, uncertain of how or what she should do in such situations. This was the sort of situation she needed Ayala's advice with the most. Her sister would know what to do! Ayala always knew what advice to give Gwyneth whenever she had a crush on a guy, albeit it didn't happen very often. So what was she to do when she didn't have her sister's words around for her query?
The girl picked at her fingers held behind her, but frowned when he finally spoke, a question that made her perplexed more then it explained anything to her. "I... You didn't do anything! I-" she paused. What was she to say? That she freaked out over her own reaction to him? That it was entirely her fault, and really nothing that he had done? It sounded cliche, even to her own ears.
So instead, silence fell again for a long moment, neither one of them meeting the other's gaze until Thaddeus spoke again. The very idea of them being friends was laughable. How could she be friends with the family of someone who was her sister's murderer, or so she believed? His voice held a tone of despair that picked at the deepest recesses of Gwyneth's heart though, and she couldn't help but look up at him, the wind whipping her brunette locks as she pondered his words before coming up with a reply.
"It's unheard of for us to be friends, young master. You're.... I work for your family. I do not imagine your brothers, or your father, would be happy to find us conversing as two equals would, when we're obviously not of equal status." It was the only logical explanation she could come up with. The logic she wanted herself to remember, because she was in trouble if she forgot. The truth was, Gwyneth wanted to get to know Thaddeus better herself. To know what was it that enabled him to laugh so easily, see the world with his gaze that was so simple yet so true. It was quite unlike Gwyneth's own jaded view of the world, yet it was so fascinating to the girl. But it was inconceivable.
"I do not want to get you in trouble, neither can I risk to lose my job. I... Trust me when I said it was nothing you did, Master Thaddeus. It is simply ... not to be done. Not in Damascus, at least."

Thaddeus was quite simply avoiding eye contact. The forest seemed peaceful behind him, unaware of the mess that was going on in his head. The birds were still chirping, and the creatures on the forest floor were still going about their business. There was a certain quiet that hushed you into a comfort that you could feel creep into you. Thaddeus barely acknowledged Gwyn when she spoke, and instead stared intently at his feet. As if his feet were the most fascinating thing in the world, when really they were ordinary. He finally looked over at Gwyn, as she continued to speak. He heard her words, and started to shake his head. He didn’t want to hear it. He really didn’t!
“I don’t care, Gwyn…” He spoke under his breath, only wanting her to hear him. He didn’t care that they were not equals. That didn’t matter to him, and while Amiti would probably stop him, soon enough his brother would get married, and leave. And father, well… he wouldn’t let his father come him and someone whom he cared about. He had worked hard enough… he did all the right things! He deserved just a little bit of happiness… right?
“Stop.” He commanded softly, his eyes peering over at Gwyn. “Stop stop stop stop…” He understood that she was trying to be logic, but he refused to have any of it. “Stop talking, just come here.” He reached to take her arm, and gently, and carefully, tried to pull her into a hug. Any physical touch between a man and a woman outside of marriage was almost unheard of, but within the secrets of the trees, Thaddeus felt safe. “You won’t lose your job, I don’t want to ruin anything.” His voice was kind, and genuine. “Why can’t we just… try? I don’t understand why we can’t try.” He looked at her, before touching her arm.
“I really like you. I am not about to give up.” Hopefully it seemed obvious that he wasn’t going to let her go. He looked down and moved closer to her, before looking around them to make sure not a soul was watching. “It can be our secret.” Thaddeus kept many secrets, more than anyone would ever find out about. Thaddeus’s eyes gleamed at the possibility of Gwyn and his friendship working out, them being happy together. He only hoped Gwyn would be brave enough….

He seemed innocent, far too innocent. But then again, with his upbringing and family background, why wouldn't he? To them, everything could be solved with a little bit of money and connections, both of which Gwyneth was born without. What was it to him that other people cared? He had money and the name of his family behind him to not care. But what Thaddeus didn't know was that while one may not care, one would certainly be alerted to the fact that other's cared. Be it by whispers, or even more loudly spoken words irregardless of how one felt.
Eventually, you'll be made to care.
She frowned when he commanded her to stop, repeatedly over and over again. Yet, where Thaddeus was a wisher, Gwyneth was a realist. As much as she'd like to believe Yahweh was a fair supreme being, of which he was, the humans which he watched over were far less fair then he'd like them to be, regardless of how devout they say they are.
Her eyes darted down to where he gripped at her arm, but Gwyneth almost swore her heart stopped when he pulled her into a hug. It was a warmth that was comforting, the kind Gwyneth had not felt in a long time. Her father had no sound of mind to provide such warm hugs, and Ayala had been her last source before even she was taken away from her.
For just a moment, Gwyneth allowed herself to savour that feeling of warmth enveloping herself. She had always enjoyed such feelings, that there was actually someone else available for her to lean on, to rely on. Of late, it's felt like she carried the weight of the world on her shoulder's, even her neck was beginning to have kinks in them. But physical touch was forbidden, and the brunette was surprised Thaddeus even tried, especially when her brother was known to be such a stickler for propriety.
Too surprised to formulate words properly, she only blinked with no syllables forming when he looked at her again. How could he, sounding so kind and genuine, be related to the stoic block of ice that was his brother?
A brief moment of softness led Gwyneth to seeing where his touch lingered on her arm, and she bit her bottom lip, quavering in her resolve. Ayala's innocence relied on her... but Gwyneth had never been able to resist genuineity. It was a value difficult to find in days such as these. Surprise was obvious in her eyes when Thaddeus admitted to liking her - never did she think it'd get to this point.
But perhaps this would be a boon? He was sweet, but he also seemed... somewhat gullible. She would feel guilty of course, but perhaps offering a possible friendship with Thaddeus would allow her to access to parts of the manheeg she couldn't ever think of going? Turning the possibility around in her head, the girl simply considered for a moment, before taking a deep breathe and meeting his eyes with her own chocolate gaze. "I'm flattered, young master, but... perhaps friends is all we should... try, for now?" Gwyneth started hesitantly, the hesitance easily mistaken for nervousness on her part. "I'm not good at keeping secrets though." she added with a nervous smile. In a way, it was true - she had never had to keep a secret before this. But ever since she had started her job at the manheeg over the last five months, the girl had gotten decidedly better at it.

He had feelings for her, that much was for sure. The fact that she continued to reject him, hurt him, and this time he wanted to try his best to persuade her otherwise. He understood why she was concerned about it and he didn’t want her to get into trouble but…. They could find a way to work around it. Right? Knowing that no one was around other then the trees, he pulled her in for a hug. He rarely had the experience, much less from a woman, but it was nice to feel her sweet form close to him. He could feel her breath and that was enough for him to feel the need to bring her even closer… even though he dared to do no such thing. He wasn’t going to let anything ruin Gwyn’s path, he just…. Maybe they could try. He really did like her! He watched her closely as she thought it over, and smiled even brighter as she gave into his wishes. “Really?” His voice gave away that his utter surprise, but he was incredibly happy about Gwyn’s decision. “Bless you, Gwyn. Thank you.” He said his hand resting on her shoulder. Friends! They were going to be friends! He wasn’t about to ask for more, and honestly he knew that it was pretty impossible anyways.
He nodded as she mentioned that she was bad a secrets. “I can help you.” He spoke softly, looking into her beautiful eyes. “It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it.” There were things not even Amiti knew, just due to Thad’s practice with it. “What they don’t know will not hurt them, right?” right. “You just find things to speak about instead of something that’s a secret.” Thaddeus continued to speak quietly, before moving to sit down indicating that he didn’t want to leave just yet. He went quiet, finally, and looked her over. He tried to think of ways that they could try to be friends, and all the ways he could think of were probably either too dangerous or something Gwyn probably would shoot down just as he said the words. He continued to be quiet, before he suddenly decided on something in his head and sat up straighter.
“You know, Gwyn.” He started slowly, before giving her a grin. “When we are away from my family, maybe you can just call me Thaddeus? Now that we are friends of course.” Not master. It just seemed less equal. He moved closer towards her, reaching for her hand. “What do you think of that idea?” Of course, she wouldn’t be able to call him just by his name in front of his brothers… they would punish her for sure. But…. if they were alone…

Torn between guilt and the knowledge that she needed to do this, it was her way to fulfill what she had promised Ayala when she witnessed her sister on the execution platform, Gwyneth did her best to bite back the bile forming at the back of her throat and instead, wore a smile as the other spoke. He seemed elated... over a simple friendship? The girl couldn't deduce why he was so easily overjoyed, so much unlike his elder brother who always looked as if the world owed him a boon.
Swallowing a gasp when he suddenly pulled her in for a hug, Gwyneth had stiffened in his arms, not at all knowing how to react in such circumstances. Touch between unmarried man and woman had always been expressly forbidden, a rule that her parents had instilled in her far before Valence had lost his mind, that it was now ingrained in her instincts.
Somehow the idea of someone helping her to learn how to keep secrets and in essence lie, seemed laughable to Gwyn, who wore a wry smile as Thaddeus further implored upon her. Not that he didn't have a point. Although what in her case, what Thaddeus didn't know probably wouldn't hurt him... but that was a topic she'd revisit on another day. Instead, she put on a show of nodding as she listened to him. Following his movements to sit down, the girl shifted uncomfortably when his eyes studied her, not at all used to being watched. Her life as a servant meant she was supposed to know how to be invisible, not be the center of attraction.
Turning to watch him, her vision slightly blocked when her head scarf slipped a little, she raised a brow at his request. The girl gave it some thought, her eyes sliding to watch the flight of two birds above them, before she bit her bottom lip in contemplation. "I guess.... I guess I could. Try, that is." she murmured, unconsciously shifting so her hands rested in her lap, not at all aware of how Thaddeus was moving closer to him. Instead, she turned to give a hopeful smile to the man. "I'll try M-... Thaddeus?" Chuckling at the slip up, she paused again, and then couldn't help but ask. "But don't you have many friends amongst... your people?" While she wasn't sure how to put it, Gwyneth assumed Thaddeus knew she spoke of the class and status divide between those of her birth and those of his.

Becoming Gwyn’s friend was huge for Thaddeus. Not only because he had been wanting it, but because he really cared about her and in his mind it was an important thing. It might have been simple, and, of course, they were only trying but that didn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things in his book. He pulled her into a hug, not really caring that it was forbidden. He wanted her close. He didn’t notice that she was uncomfortable, and while he would have stopped an apology if she had said something, he had only done it because he knew there were no eyes watching. He of course would teach her secrets, fully motivated to keep their plan of friendship. There was nothing in his mind that said this wasn’t going to work. Of course, it wasn’t like Thaddeus really experienced failure at all in his life.
He sat down and smiled as she sat down with him. His eyes watched her every move, as if he was trying to take in all her beauty at once and memorize it. He looked for more words and when he spoke, he listened and watched her response to it. He turned more towards her as she agreed to his request that she say his name. He noticed her head scarf falling, and moved to help her fix it carefully. “Of course, trying.” That was all they were doing here. If it didn’t work, well… at least they could say they tried. He listened to her words and laughed- though, tried to laugh quietly - as she started to slip. He could admit he liked how his name flowed off her tongue. He approved. He raised a brow at her question, and paused. Of course he had friends…
“Yes,” He said, looking straight into her eyes. “I do, I have a lot of friends.” He let out a sigh, knowing exactly what she was talking about. “Well, first of all, none of them are you, and second, you may be a servant but…” Thaddeus saw her as special. She was different then the others. “Well, I don’t know.” Thaddeus frowned slightly, thinking deeply. “I just feel a connection to you. I want to have your attention, I want to hear my name on your tongue ...” He started to trail off, and he looked away. He was quiet, and some moments passed. More wind came, brushing against the leaves and against them. Thad shook his head a little. “Again, it all comes back to the fact that I have never met anyone like you before. Amiti would say that it isn’t at all logical but…. I like it.” He could just tell. Suddenly, his mind whirled and he just began to blurt out the words. “I don’t want to scare you, if this is… you know, making you uncomfortable.”

She couldn't help watch the animated way in which the young son of Tzephaniah spoke, with a glee many didn't have in Judea. Of course they had friends, the family was one well respected in the Damascus due to the position they held within the Council of Elders. Many of her neighbor's had praised Gwyneth for being able to secure a job with the household, a fact that the brunette smiled at outwardly, but scoffed at inwardly. She believed she knew them better then the image they portrayed to the public - knew them for their lying, heartless ways.
Still, it would do her no good to show Thaddeus what she thought. So instead, Gwyneth kept a straight face as he spoke, even as he spoke of wayward things such as connections and being special. Who was he trying to kid? Gwyenth couldn't help but wonder if he too,w as just pulling a trick on her. Did Amiti find out who she was, and they were now trying to ensnare her in the same trap Ayala had fell for and got herself an execution?
Wary to still keep herself looking lighthearted at least, she cocked a head when the younger man looked away. While Gwyneth was quite certain of her assumptions to the young man, some of his actions and mannerisms struck Gwyneth as odd, and she couldn't help but wonder if he was simply different from his brothers.
Not eager to continue entertaining that thought in her head, however, the brunette quickly shook her head to rid herself of them, but a movement Thaddeus could easily mistake as her disagreeing with his statement. "No no, it isn't... uncomfortable per say. Like I said... we just have to test it out, right?" Far be it from her to shy away when she's come so far. She would be in a far better position as a 'friend' to the young Master, then she would to simply be a servant. "Perhaps... perhaps we could take a stroll around the study, one day? I've always been interested in the literary tomes available, but have never even been able to visit the library." While that was not a lie however, there was more then just tomes she wanted to look at. She knew the study was one of Amiti's sanctuaries, and they kept many work-related documents in there.
If onnly she could take a peek.

Thaddeus was happy. Gwyn liked him again, and she was even open to trying to be friends. This was a massive step in the right direction, and Thaddeus had a mind not to mess it up this time. He was also fully aware of how things are right now, this was incredibly forbidden, not just because Gwyen was a woman but because of their social status. They were completely different, but… nothing was going to change how Thaddeus felt about her. Nothing. She was incredible and smart, and…. Thaddeus smiled over at her. Of course, he had other friends… but they were nothing like her. He didn’t want her to be uncomfortable.
“Right, right.” He nodded. “Just testing things.” That’s all it was. Plus, they had to keep this all a secret, on top of that. Thaddeus couldn’t have his brother find out about any of this… He listened to her next words, before looking at her, confused. “The study?” The idea made Thaddeus pause. He knew Amiti had a lot of books, but he never really went into the study. It was his brother’s space, and while he wasn’t barred from going in, he never really did unless he had to talk to Amiti. He looked Gwyn over, before grinning. “Sure, Gwyn. But I am just curious, why are you interested in the tomes?” It was not like he was going to say no to her, but… it did bring up some questions in him.
“I never really go in the study myself.” He confessed, before reaching up to brush his hair with his fingers. “But if you want to… anything for you, Gwyneth. It’s the least I can do.” He leaned over towards her, lifting his hand to touch the back of her hand. He began to think of a way that wouldn’t be so unusual. He paused for a moment before looking into Gwyn’s eyes. “We’ll go to the study when Amiti is busy with other things. I should probably read more, anyways.” He struck a smile before leaning back and glancing away from his friend. Again, he was quiet before he broke the silence once more. “Is there anything else I can do for you, Gwyneth?” his voice was barely a whisper, but his words were genuine.

He was blind, of that she was quite sure. Not an actual vision impairment, but in terms of how easily he trusted and wanted to speak to someone. Was it not somewhat dangerous, to a certain extent? Gwyneth was almost certain it wasn't safe or advisable to simply agree to bring someone into a study as easily as Thaddues had, but who was she to complain? Afterall, it got her to her goal, which was all she wanted.
Plastering a smile on her face, she shrugged as her gaze flickered to watch the breeze swaying the grass, the clouds travelling overhead as the harsh daylight of the sun began to gentle as time passed. "I like reading?" she murmured, deciding that she shouldn't lie all the time. It would be hard to keep up a ruse if she tried to lie her way through everything, so Gwyneth's plan was to tell as little lies as possible, and only what was necessary to get her to where she needed to go. "I've always had, ever since I heard a tome being read in a market when I was much younger. The stories they tell are fascinating."
Would he understand if she told him she saw pictures in her head as they told of a story? That she could imagine every ripple of the wind, the vibrant hue of the colors in the story? Every breath and every step? Most people didn't. Ayala definitely didn't, and her father was a lost cause for now. "I was never taught to read though, and neither do I have the entry to go into the University." She's always thought it was a pity, for her to love reading and coincidentally be born in the city with a University, only to have it so far away from her simply because of the social status she was born into.
She started a little when his hands brushed the back of hers, but Gwyneth made no move to remove it, and merely flicked her hazel brown gaze up at his, and gave a lopsided smile. She felt bad, in a way. Thaddeus meant well... what would he feel if he found out how she was planning on using him? She didn't want to, truly. If it had been different circumstances, maybe Gwyneth would have even wanted to be friends with someone so friendly and bright as Thaddeus. But the situation is as it is... and there was nothing either of themn could do about it.
The girl shook her head, her headscarf slipping off her head a little as the breeze picked it. Quickly, Gwyneth shifted it back, before standing up. "We should head back, shouldn't we? before the hour grows late."

Thaddeus could describe everything he liked about Gwyneth. Her demeanor, her voice, her looks… He couldn’t get her out of his head. When she had rejected him, it was like the whole world came crashing down, and now that she was willing to try, it was like everything was coming together. Perhaps it made Thaddeus a little more sensitive, a little more on edge but.. Gwyn made him feel things intensely. He also knew that his feelings for her probably would never change, not really… When she asked to see Amiti’s study, he was hesitant. But deep down, he wasn’t going to say no. He couldn’t say no to her. He had to wonder, though, as even he didn’t use the study that much. It was mostly Amiti’s…. He heard her answer and smiled brightly. She liked reading? Well, that was something that he could participate in with her! He listened to more of her words and nodded. “Oh yes, I love stories myself!” Thaddeus commented. “I like the visuals the stories bring out.” It was quite amazing.
He heard how she couldn’t get into university and looked at her curiously. “I could read to you,” He said gently. Well, not could per say, but would. He was going to bring her to the study. Even though he was hesitant about it, he would do as she wished. Thaddeus touched the back of her hand and was happy when she didn’t pull away from him. It was a good sign that, unlike last time, she wasn’t going to reject him. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to handle another rejection. Thaddeus watched her stand up and pushed himself up off the ground as she spoke. She was right, it was getting late, and he needed to be home.
“Yes, of course, Gwyn.” He gave her a light smile. “Come, let’s go home.” and with that, Thaddeus turned his body and headed forward towards the path that would lead them out of the forest. Although the mission was clear, he couldn’t help but watch Gwyn as he walked with her. He longed to be able to put his arm around her and keep her close but… soon they’d be out in the open. Soon, they’d be vulnerable to peering eyes. Thaddeus for once kept his distance, quiet but happy that Gwyneth was near him. When they finally arrived at the house, Thaddeus gave her a small grin and a wink. “I will come for you when it is safe to go to the study, beautiful Gwyn,” Thaddeus whispered. He forced himself not to touch her in fear they’d be caught and instead gave her a huge smile. With that, Thaddeus left Gwyn and headed towards his room.
