He was just passing time really, waiting to meet up with some old acquaintances later, and Sil had made a head start on the wine, sat languidly at a corner table, watching the coming and goings of Midas’ populace with a lightly bemused air. He’d forgotten how industrious everyone was here. Always doing something, being useful. After spending the past two summers in Taengea, Silanos was missing their neighbour’s easy affinity for good wine and company. Colchis took everything so seriously.
It was change most pronounced in his elder brother who’d barely broken from his work since Silanos’ return. Baron of Eubocris now, and my didn’t it show. Sil thought Timaeus had been lacking someone to pull his head out of his own ass and pour some wine down his throat, and was already considering a time and a place where such a thing could be undertaken.
Not today though.
Sipping idly at a cup of wine, his gaze lifted toward a rather pretty dark-haired thing, and Sil deliberately let his gaze linger long enough for her to realise, smirking a little as she blushed and looked back to the table she was clearing. Wait for it. One, two... There. She’d looked up again, and this time the Lord smiled widely, tipped his chin to beckon her over to him. No harm in passing the time with some attractive company after all.
“Hello” he said simply, as the young woman drew nearer, clutching an empty jug before her as if it might protect her from his charm offensive. Hah. Silanos patted the seat next to him, tilted his head as he looked up at her. “ Won’t you join me a moment? I’m waiting for a friend and it’s terribly dull sitting by oneself.”
Which was true, and now she was closer, Sil could more appreciate the sweet little bow mouth and big dark eyes that she shifted towards the bar a moment as if she thought she might get in trouble for tarrying with this forward young Lord.
He decided to head that off at the pass “ Don’t worry, I’m spending good coin here, I’m certain your master won’t object. Sit down. Tell me your name”
And so the girl did, after setting down the empties she had been collecting upon the bar top, she came back over and perched timidly on the edge of the bench seat. Silanos raised an eyebrow, decided he would have to work a bit harder to get her to relax.
“Your name, then?” He tried again, with an encouraging smile. She was Rhea, it turned out. Her father a wheel maker, her mother the cook in the tavern kitchens. Seventeen years of age, two older brothers. She was chatting away quite happily to Silanos within the space of a few minutes and a few more smiles. It was too easy really, no fun. Which was why, when she got brave enough to ask who he was, Sil decided maybe he could make it fun in a different way. And, if there were irate siblings to be dealt with later, then all the better they weren’t looking for him.
“Oh me? You may call me Timaeus of Valaoritis, Rhea. Baron of Eubocris. At your service”
He poured her a cup of wine, grinning at the stunned expression on her face at the idea that a baron was entertaining her. Sil waved his hand loftily at the bar keep. “Hey, another jug of wine, if it's not too much to ask. And something better than this slop?” Might as well settle into the role and make the most of it.

Traveling and adventure was in Adrestus’s blood- that’s how it would always be and that’s the way that he liked it. Things had changed slightly then how they used to be. Disaster has occurred, he had lost a friend and he had his own ship now. Although he had traveled many places, he tended to stick to the places that held some meaning to him. Athenia, because that was where his family had been, Colchis, as that was where Tim was, and perhaps egypt, due to many adventures there. Of course, there was business to be done, too, and Adrestus had done well his family’s business. He was a good trader, said all the right things… which is probably why his family hadn’t discouraged his adventurous heart. His future was still up in the air, and although it bothered him, he tried not to think of it as he entered the kingdom of Colchis.
Timeaus was here, and while he had a mind to stop in and say hello, he wouldn’t probably had the time to have much more than a short conversation with him. Tim was busy, and Adre was busy himself. He was getting more supplies, trading, and overall just doing his job. He also spent some time looking to see if Sokari was here, as there was always hope… though he was sure if Sokari was in Colchis Tim would know about it and it’d be obvious. After some hours of work, then, Adrestus set foot into a tavern, looking obviously like a sailor that he was, and not so much like a nobleman. A drink would do him good… settling into a seat, he smiled over at the worker and ordered himself a glass. He didn’t really talk to those around him, mostly in his own thoughts. Thinking about what he was needing to do, Sokari, his ship…
He wasn’t even paying attention to the younger man’s and woman’s conversation, until he heard his best friend’s name. He hadn’t seen Him anywhere? Adrestus turned, his eyes narrowed in confusion. The man that was saying he was Tim was definitely *not* his friend. He didn’t know who the fuck he was, but as Adrestus stared at him he realized the other must be a relative of Tim’s. Adrestus took a big gulp of his glass, and rose up from his seat. If he played a long, and perhaps foiled the other’s plan, maybe his friend would avoid getting scammed, or whatever the other wanted to do under his dear friend’s name. Adrestus certainly wasn’t going to let the other get away with it.
Adrestus gave a big smile to Silanos before walking right up to the other, and giving a pat - a rather hard one - to the other’s back. “Ah, Timaeus of Valaritis! My dear friend!” He said loudly, his eyes giving away that he knew Silanos was a fake. “You should tell this fine lady of our adventures out at sea, I’m sure she’d be fascinated.” His voice hissed out the last word, giving away that he was angry with the other for being an imposter. Adrestus never understood the need to lie. He looked over Rhea, before looking back at Sil. “Go on, Tim, tell her!” Adrestus commanded, looking at him expectantly.

Sil hadn’t blinked an eye dropping his brother’s name instead of his own, it was an old trick when he did not necessarily want to be immediately traceable, or when he just fancied winding Tim up a little. In this case, he thought the title of Baron would be enough to dissuade any over protective brothers from trying to trace whomever had lured their sweet sister to his bed. Which was where Sil’s thoughts were leading him now, if he were honest about it.
She was passing fair, and fairly low effort which had its own appeal sometimes. It wouldn't take much to warm her up and keep her on ice for later when he was done with his friends. Just a little bit of expressed interest and he’d have her where he wanted.
Which was why he wasn’t much taken by the goon who was grinning at him and walking over towards their table, the Lord’s face making no secret of how unwelcome their uninvited guest was. Sil was wondering if the man was drunk or high up until the point he slapped him on the back a little too hard, and fired off some crap about Tim.
Well shit. That was unfortunate. Still, he didn't bat an eyelid at the realisation that he’d been caught in a lie, because it seemed as though even if the twerp knew he wasn’t Tim, he hadn’t twigged on to the fact that he was Tim’s brother, so he couldn’t know Tim that well. What was this one’s game?
With an apologetic glance at Rhea, Silanos tilted his face up to look more closely at the other man, to see if he could place him. He’d been out of Colchis a couple of years, and so it was entirely possible that this was some friend of his brother’s that he didn’t know. He held the other’s gaze for a few beats, eyes narrowing only a fraction when the man didn’t look away, and Sil flashed a faint smile before he replied.
“Right. Of course. I would, but you see, I’m more interested in learning about Rhea here. Didn’t your parents teach you it’s rude to talk about yourself all the time?” And then he smiled again, baring teeth and added “So why don’t you fuck back off to wherever you came from, and let me get on with that”
And with that said, Silanos looked away from the other man, back to the girl sitting at his side, rolling his eyes at her before nudging the wine back toward her. “Sorry, Rhea, where were we?”

When arriving at the Tavern, he hadn’t planned on being very social- he was only in Colchis in business, and while his friend Tim was not too far away, he was in much of a hurry and hadn’t planned on being in the kingdom too long. There’d be many opportunities to come to Colchis for social reasons and to hang around his close friend, but this time wasn’t it. Adrestus had all the intention to relax with a drink and be on his way… except for the fact that he heard Tim’s name used by someone who was not Tim. He couldn’t help but go over to the other man- he already assumed the man was apart of Tim’s family, but couldn’t place *who* he was or how he was related to Tim.
Nevertheless, Adrestus smiled and made it blatantly apparent that he knew the stranger was lying and using Tim’s name for his gain. The gain, that is, of picking up a girl. Adrestus didn’t like his friend’s name being used without his knowledge, and he was sure Tim would want him to stick up for him in his absence.
Adrestus narrowed his eyes as Sil spoke with him, and the sailor looked offended. He was silent for a moment, glaring over at Silanos now that the other told him to fuck off. A liar and rude too? Well, that was not going to do. He thought for a moment and looked over Sil. He had to be Tim’s younger brother… When Silanos turned his back on Adrestus to then give attention to the lady, Adrestus reached over and clamped his hand down on Sil’s shoulder, his grip tight enough so that he wouldn’t be ignored. It was not enough, however, to hurt him. “Well that was uncalled for,” Adrestus spoke, his eyes not moving away from Sil. “I don’t appreciate being told off,” Adrestus leaned against the counter, pausing for a moment as he continued to try to figure out who the other was.
“I know you are apart of Tim’s family. Are you a brother or something?” He wasn’t sure. He knew Tim had talked about his family at some point, but he could not remember much of what he had said. The more he thought about it, the more the other seemed more like Tim’s younger brother. “I would like the truth; if you are a younger brother, I doubt Tim would be pleased to hear that you were using his name to court women.” Adrestus could quickly get in contact with him, and he knew for a fact he wouldn’t be pleased to hear his younger brother had pissed off a friend. “I, however, don't need to tell Tim about this..if you convince me not to,” Adrestus explained, but he wasn’t hopeful about the fact that Sil and him could be friends. He wasn’t dumb- he had outed the other as a full-on liar and Rhea probably didn’t like that. He looked over at Sil. “Why are you using Tim’s name to talk to women anyways? With your looks, you do not need to do that.” Well, he was pretty cute but…. Considering how Tim looked, Sil was not far off that tree.

Fuck’s sake this guy could not take a hint
When a hand clamped none too gently on his shoulder, Silanos made a point of looking first at it, and then at the man, it was attached to, openly scowling now. “Well I don’t appreciate people sticking their nose into my business” he replied tersely, before accepting that the fool wasn’t going to go away, and sighing dramatically as he twisted back away from the tavern girl to here whatever the idiot was so intent on saying.
Trust his luck that one of his brother's lackeys would have to be in this particular tavern on this exact day. It was like the Gods hated him. Or at least didn’t want him to get laid.
“Why do you even care?” Silanos asked, eyeing the man up and down as he was interrogated. This guy was seriously cramping his style, and even though he wasn’t exactly distraught about losing whatever ground he’d gained with the girl next to him, it was still annoying and unnecessary.
“Hey, sweetheart, why don’t you go find out where that wine got to” he threw over his shoulder to Rhea, whose dark eyes were flickering between the two men doubtfully. And when she had obediently got up and crossed the room, the Valaoritis Lord looked up at the blond man. “ Look, I don’t know who you are, you don’t know who I am, so I don't know exactly what you think you’ll gain by running off and telling Timaeus anything, or why you even think he’d be bothered?” he tried, wondering exactly how interested his brother might be if somehow this did make it back to him. Timaeus could thump pretty hard when he wanted to.
Silanos was still considering his options when the stranger went on, and he looked offended at the man’s assumption, glancing over to ensure Rhea was out of hearing distance before he replied. “ It’s not because I need to use his name to get women” he said indignantly. “It’s because she’s got two older brothers and I don’t need them coming looking for me now do I. The Baron is better equipped to deal with such things. Besides, it’s funny.”
And then he frowned belatedly at what might have been a compliment from the other man because even though it was sort of flattering, the idiot had still sabotaged Sil’s chances with a person he was actually semi-interested in, and being sweet-talked by someone he absolutely wasn’t interested in was not a consolation. He reached for the cup of not so good wine, and as he lifted it, gestured towards Adrestus and asked a question of his own.
“Do you often go around cockblocking complete strangers? Does it make you a lot of friends?”

Adrestus narrowed his eyes at the other man. He didn’t like him using his friend’s name just for his business, and he also didn’t appreciate how he was treated. “I am protecting my friend.” Adrestus snapped, his body becoming tense. He honestly didn’t care what the other’s business was, he just wanted the man to leave Tim out of it. “I care a lot,” Adrestus said in the most serious tone he could muster. He was too angry to realize the man didn’t realize Tim and his history, nor didn’t even realize that perhaps if he had come at this a different way, they wouldn’t be glaring at each other. Especially since he had blocked the man, things were quite tense. He watched as the other man sent the lady off, and he turned his full attention towards Sil. He shook his head at his next words, realizing that he probably should tell the man why he was so bothered. “Look…” He told Sil that he didn’t even understand why the other man needed Tim’s name anyways… he’d do fine on his own. The other still seemed quite frustrated. Adrestus let out a sigh.
“Look, I’ve protected Timaeus for a while now, I will continue to do so. I’ve traveled the world with him for many years.” He spoke, his eyes not leaving Sil. “We’ve lived on a ship together and met many challenges, I’ve put my life on the line for him. I’m not about to stand by and hear someone using his name for a fuck.” Adrestus shook his head and just about rolled his eyes.
“He’d do the same for me. So yes, I do care, and yes, he will listen to me. I’m not stupid. And no, I don’t go cockblocking strangers, just ones who use my friend’s name for stupid reasons or what have you.” With that, Adrestus started gesturing towards the bartender for another drink. He moved his hand through his hair, as if in thought. He glanced back towards Sil. “I’m sorry I got into your business, I wouldn’t have bothered you if I hadn’t heard Tim’s name.” He paused for a quick moment. “Aren’t you his brother?” He knew the man was related to Tim, he just couldn’t figure out exactly who he was. Silanos was beginning to wonder if this little confrontation was going to end in a fight. He sort of hoped not. He didn’t particularly like getting punched, and though he could hold his own after growing up with two brothers, he wasn’t brawny, and with the brief once ove he’d given Tim’s croney, he wasn’t sure he fancied his chances. It would thoroughly spoil his afternoon.
Rolling his eyes and giving a dismissive snort as the man continued to lecture him, Silanos was hard pressed not to snap again that he wasn’t using Tim’s name ‘for a fuck’. He managed that perfectly fine on his own, thankyou. He’d turned away, making his disinterest in the scolding perfectly clear when the other seemed to catch on to himself, modifying his tone to something almost conciliatory. Sil nearly choked on his wine when he heard the apology. This guy couldn’t decide if he was coming or going.
“Yes I’m his brother” he said, turning a cool gaze back to the man. It was even more irritating that the guy had gotten so up in his face if he knew who he was anyway. Idly, Sil looked out for Rhea, but the girl had made the sensible choice to leave the two men to sort out whatever their argument was before she returned. It only made Sil frown more.“I’ve been away a while” he answered when the man expressed his surprise that Timaeus hadn't talked about him. And then with a vague wave of his hand “Also, me and my brother have an arrangement where he talks and I try to not listen, so….”
It hadn’t always been the case. There had been a time where he would have happily listened to Tim’s stories. He was his big brother, and with that went a certain degree of hero worship.Sil had spent a good part of his younger years trailing around after Timaeus thinking he was the best thing since honey cakes. Now though...somehow everything out of his brother’s mouth felt like an order, and Silanos had never taken well to orders. It was a persistent problem.
He eyed the other man again. “You haven’t told me your name anyway so it’d be hard for me to know if Tim has mentioned you” That was a lie. When the other had mentioned the boat, there had been an immediate spark. Timaeus had come back just before Nico died, and Sil had left just after. There were a couple of guys his brother had talked about he thought, though he couldn’t recall names.
When the barkeep brought the fair-haired man over a drink, Silanos couldn’t help but wonder how he had gone from such an attractive drinking partner to...one of his brother’s friends who was probably now going to give Tim another reason to be mad at him. He decided maybe it was worth trying to smooth things over a little, it wasn’t as if anything had actually happened anyway.
“Look, it would really help me out if you didn’t go and shoot your mouth off to my brother about..whatever. No harm, no foul?”

Adrestus was annoyed, but he was slowly calming as he spoke to the other man. He apologized, and almost grinned when the other man practically chocked. It was a bit funny. Adrestus nodded when Sil told him that he was Tim’s brother, and the sailor nodded. “I knew it.” He spoke softly, before giving the other a smile. He didn’t hate the other, and even though he didn’t appreciate the other’s actions, he was Tim’s family so he couldn’t hold a grudge. Adrestus wholeheartedly believed Silanos when he said he didn’t really listen to his brother, and Adre leaned against the counter as he drank some more from his glass. “Tim can be a lot when he wants to be.” Not that Adre was going to go into much detail, but it was an estimated guess. He loved Tim, but when Tim took charge well… it was his way or bust. Then again, in Adre’s eyes Tim seemed to be right 99% of the time anyway, so it had been better for him when he had listened to the man.
“Adrestus of Nikolaos.” Adre spoke as Sil mentioned he hadn’t yet said his name. Well, there he was. He didn’t really care if Tim hadn’t mentioned anything about him to anyone in Colchis… it didn’t really matter. It was just interesting, after everything that happened to them on the seas, Tim just… went back to his normal life. Adrestus hadn’t given up his adventurous spirit…and he wasn’t exactly planning to. He looked towards Sil and nodded in agreement to his next words. He put up his hands as a surrender and shrugged.
“Okay then,” Adrestus agreed, before reaching and taking his glass into his hand. “I won’t say anything about this to Tim. Promise. He won’t ever know.” Adrestus kept his word, and Tim wouldn’t be hearing anything about their encounter. “No harm, no foul,” Adrestus repeated, giving Sil a small smile of acceptance before moving away from him. He had had enough of this arguing as well and- he just wanted to finish his drink. He was sure the other man wanted to continue with whatever he was doing as well. Adrestus was kind enough to want to give the other man his space back. Adrestus turned away, then, and moved back towards one of the empty tables.
