Kesi wasn’t really caring about what the two girls were talking about. She vaguely recognized the one. She couldn’t place from where. Maybe a festival once upon a time? Kesi just knew if she slightly recognized someone- it probably wasn’t a good thing. She left some sort of impression on the girl… and she doubted it was good.
The other girl Kesi didn’t care about one little bit.
The only thing the snake charmer really thought about was how she wanted to get back home to her brother. (Well, that and how annoying the other girl was. That would be another impression Kesi would likely keep with her.) The two chit-chatting didn’t much interest her. Well, that was until the one girl said:
And the storm isn’t that bad.
The shutters roared off the window and Kesi went to go look. The wind was absolutely still there. But… there was a light at the end of the tunnel. The clouds were beginning to part and she could see Ra’s sun shining above her. The storm wasn’t gone but it was beginning to calm.
Hm, Kesi did love a little risk and chaos. Before it was stupid to leave shelter when death was just waiting on the other side? But now, with winds not meaning immediate death and the sun showing hope that things were about to end? Maybe now was the perfect time for her to get going back to the circus. Her brother was probably wondering where Kesi was gone. Maybe he was even worried!
Well I can’t have that. A worried Nem was never a good thing, and Kesi would have hated if she put him in that position. At the very least, Delia was almost certainly worried. Kesi’s mother too. She wouldn’t want either of them feeling that way about her. She should head back to the circus and reassure them that she was alright.
“Well, it was nice meeting you miss and miss! And angry mister!” Kesi said brightly before glancing over at the blocked door. With a shrug, Kesi decided the best exit was through the newly opened window.
With her hair going everywhere and her clothes following suit, Kesi began to navigate the streets squinting through the sand. She would get home, and then she would have a great adventure story to tell! Also, she could complain about that annoying girl. (Which Kesi certainly was going to do.)
