Being nameless wasn't all bad. Roxana could go about unnoticed by most because she was not important. Of course, that all changed a little when Tim claimed her as family in front of a whole slew of important people. She loved him for his intention but might have some resentment as to the after effect. She didn't want to be talked about or looked at funny. She did not want to be gossip or an embarrassment to her family. Outing this kind of information made those things inevitable though.
It wasn't too often that she sensed awkwardness or over head something, after all it wasn't as if her family were Gods and there was plenty of gossip to go around from other families. Still, her family had dirty laundry so she would get looks now and then and Roxana knew they were even more interesting with this new load of dirty laundry.
She was wearing her hair up which changed her appearance a bit and clothes not as colorful as she liked. Anything to blend in. Her new bodyguard, Leander, was a gentle middle aged man who she had known for years and was quite fond of. He also seemed fond of her as well so it was a good fit. As she spoke to him about the beautiful dancing and things for sale she had seen, he indulged her and pretended to be interested.
When Roxana saw Maximus in the crowd, she gave him a friendly wave. Leander looked him up and down once or twice to size him up.

Maximus was lost in the festivities until he saw a girl waving at him. Curious, Maximus squinted to see who the girl who was waving at him. "Roxana," he muttered to himself. She was the girl whom Maximus saved from the marketplace a few weeks ago. He never thought that he would see Roxana again given the fact he chewed her guardian up for abandoning her when she was harassed by drunks.
Maximus made his way towards the small girl. She was wearing a blue chiton with her hair placed up, Roxana looked pretty. "It's been a while." Maximus said trying to speak through the rowdy crowd. "How are you enjoying the festivities?" Maximus said smiling and staring at what appeared to be her new guardian. "So who's this guy?" he asked. "Is he your new guardian? I hope I don't need to chew him up." Maximus finished with a wink.

Dion's head spun around at the instant he heard his Uncle Mihail's voice. His face broke into a large smile as he began to bounce happily from foot to foot. He liked his uncle's pet serpent. Draco! he reminded himself sharply. His grin grew as he looked up at his favorite uncle next to him. He watched as he lifted Draco from his own shoulders and gently moved him onto his own.
Dion saw it as a privileged to be allowed to hold or cuddle Draco. "And I have missed you Uncle and Draco." he said as he reached up and ran a gently had over the snake's hide. Looking over at his mother, Dion nodded and then asked "Can I visit Unca Mimi, Mamma? I want to show him what Father has been teaching me." he asked, a note of pride in his voice as he mention his training.
He smiled at his Uncle and scooted closer to him as his gaze fell on the person that they were talking to. He made a face at the fact that this person wore a mask and to his eyes it was hard to tell if they were a boy or a girl. Why would one want to hide in public? What secret are you keeping that you don't want people to know? You stick out like a cat in a pile of dogs. he thought to himself.
When his mother said that he could go visit Mihail, he let out a whoop and then broke into a laugh. "Then I will come for a visit!" he announced sounding much like the princeling that he was and as if there was nothing more to decide on the matter.
Then as it totally out of nowhere he was heard to ask some of the things that had rolled around in his head because his mother had quite not kept him from seeing the oddity. "Whacha hidin from? Do you sleep with it on too? That has to be uncomfortable!"
He listened to his mother and tilted his head, a hand reaching back up to pet Draco. "Yes, and they brought Vang of the Four Paws?" his eyes lit up at that but he was actually enjoying his time with Draco and the masked stranger. He'd find his cousins eventually if they did not find him first and then drag him off to do something fun or to get into so kind of trouble.
He looked from adult to adult to adult and then up at the sky, his hand still petting Draco is slow, gentle movements as he worked to keep him calm. Slowly, his gaze moved to look up at the stars that filled the sky over their heads. Softly he begins to to count and then asks "How do they stay up there? They look like those light up bug we like to catch and watch light up." He lifts a his other hand and points to the stars, curious.

It would appear that the armoured person who had been speaking with Evras and Mihail under the protection of the steel plates seemed disconcerted when Dion appeared and had even lesser to say - something that Evras did not bother correcting. When Dion was around, the mother's first priority was the boy, and it was clear for all to see as Evras turned to focus on him.
Watching him carefully as the young prince addressed the stranged instead, Evras did nothing to stop. As a prince, Dion would eventually need to learn how to handle various characters, and she did not see why he should not start now. Should any trouble arise, all Evras had to do was call out, and any number of guards would come, for they were situated nearby should anything happen. But for now, the mother merely kept a close eye on her son, allowing him the liberty to experience life.
Turning to him again once he seemed excited at the prospect of his friends, Evras gave an indulgent smile as she nodded. Dion seemed quite taken with the pet the Eliades twins had. Occasionally, Evras wondered if the young boy would do better with a pet of his own, yet with life being the way it had been over the past few months or years, she had never been given the chance to mull over that idea. Perhaps she should bring it up with her husband one day?
"Indeed, they did Dion." the princess responded, amused eyes also watching the way he interacted with his uncle's snake. While many children shied away from reptiles or bugs, perhaps Dion's upbringing around the Thanasi pets meant he did not fear the scaled creatures as much. Evras had had her own, but had to allow the Thanasi household to care for her black snake once Dion had been borned, for she did not wish to bring danger to the child. And while she would like to return her Nyx to herself now, she needed more attention on future handlings.
"They fly, Dion." Evras replied, in response to her son's question. "They fly to watch over us all, for the night requires guidance in the dark, do we not?" Evras allowed Dion to digest the information for a moment, before she offered a hand to the young, growing prince. "We should get going to find Papa and your uncle's, do you hear that?" In the distance, the cheers and shouts rivalled the growing music that would be familiar to all who has seen the Dance of Knives before - the festivities had begun, and Evras suspected Dion would want to be watching the excitement. Turning to Mihail, the elder sister motioned at her brother. "Are you joining us?"

Spiro looked over the boy again and noticed the some what nicer clothing and figured that the boy was apart of one of the richer families in the city. But when he went to touch the animal it jumped back and growled. Now Spiro never really grew up around animals, other than the every other cat that milled around. The boy's sudden outburst cause Spiro to snap his hand back and rub his neck and give an odd smile.
"My- My bad, I don't spend too much time with animals." Spiro tried to play it cool but the truth was his heart was racing. He almost lost some fingers there- how would he work with out a few fingers?
Again the child caught his interest with the occupation of the dog. A guard dog, if that didn't show the kids family standing Spiro didn't know what did. The man knew he had to watch what he said around the kid and try and not be too much of a bad influence on the boy. 'Here let me show you' Spiro watched the boy as he grabbed his wrist and lead it to the dog. A part of Spiro still was afraid but he didn't let that show. The boy then asked a question that Spiro didn't know if he should ask truthfully or not.
His name. Real or fake- quickly now Spiro. The man chuckled and shrugged a bit. "I can ask you the same thing..." Spiro realized how bad that sounded so he added "Spiro... Nice to meet you." He hoped that the answer pleased the boy, Spiro didn't like the focus on him too much.

Babis wasn’t all that surprised to hear that his suspicions about Spiro not being around dogs before were right. “There’s a lot of strays around here. Some of them are friendlier than others.” Babis said with a small shrug as he dropped the man’s wrist. If Spiro didn’t want to risk losing his fingers again, then maybe he should spend time with a few of them who weren’t trained to attack if someone untrustworthy got a bit too close… Plus it also didn’t hurt that Vang was scary while some of the strays weren’t if Spiro had a bit of a fear of dogs after this, it would do him well to have some positive experiences with more friendly canines.
There was just something off about the man. Babis couldn’t tell just what it was, but for some reason, he refused to give Vang the signal to trust this dude. That within itself was strange as Spiro really hadn’t done anything to warrant the boy’s suspicions. In fact, the man had been nothing, but kind to the angry boy who had run into him and here Babis was, keeping his guard dog on edge without a just cause as to why.
Though maybe it was the friendliness that was causing the boy to be wary of Spiro. Babis may be a child, but he was still a member of the upper classes and this silly outfit his mother had coerced him into wearing clearly marked him as such. Normally, those who weren’t a member of the royal family like he was -- albeit he was so distantly related to the Colchian crown that he had a higher place in the Taengean line of succession -- treated people like Babis a bit differently than Spiro had done thus far, even if they didn’t know if Babis was a member of a Varanos or a Dynestia. Plus not to mention, there was the extra factor of Babis being a child as well. People tended to treat him just a bit differently than an adult… but not Spiro. That was the thing that was setting him on edge. Spiro was treating Babis as if he was equal in terms of rank and age, which was not simply the case.
It was frankly just a bit weird to the boy as he wasn’t used to it.
That strangeness factor was solidified though when Spiro immediately responded to the boy’s question with the same one but directed towards the child. Babis glanced over at Spiro with a wary expression, confused as to why someone would purposely try to hide his name from a kid, which is what the man’s deflection sounded like. There was no reason as to why on earth he would need to do that? Was Spiro a criminal? That was the only logical explanation that Babis could think of if he didn’t want a kid to know his name.
Glancing over his shoulder in the direction he came from, Babis decided that this was just a bit too strange for him and he really didn’t want to know whether or not Spiro was his real name. Especially not when he still needed to hurry and replace the food that Vang had eaten. So, quickly, he gathered up the leash as he lied straight through his teeth in response to what would be their parting question, “Aras” This wasn’t the young lord’s name, of course. He was too weirded out by this man to tell him what it really was. When he spoke, there was no hesitation in his voice and no other indication that this wasn’t the twin’s name. That was one of the bonuses of being an identical twin. You knew how to pass yourself off as the other at a moment’s notice. It was unlikely that Spiro would be any wiser about the trick this little imp had played, not unless the man actually knew who the twins were and knew them well enough to know that Vang normally stayed with Babis instead of the heir.
“Nice to meet you too.” Babis parroted back, bouncing on the edge of his feet, eager and ready to dash off. It only took a moment of silence from the pair for the young boy to quickly say, “Sorry, but I have to go find something.” The words tumbled out of his mouth just as quickly as his sandals when he was running, but the message itself was short, simple, and straight to the point. Then, without another word, Babis turned on his heels, tugged lightly on Vang’s collar and bounded off in the opposite direction, back from where he came, fully intent finding the bread he needed to replace what Vang stole earlier.
Maybe with a little luck, he might also run into his brother who might be able to use that big brain of his and figure out what just happened.

As the Nobles began to chat among one another, the child coming into play, Kairos took advantage of the moment. She turned on a heel, and rapidly disappeared back into the crowds, walking away, and into the darkness of the night. She cut through crowds, into alleys, and moved through the city rapidly.
After all, she had places to be. Things to do. She couldn't spend all night stuck in conversation with petty nobles. They weren't going to pay her for talking, after all. Or at all.
Kairos cast a last glance back into the city. She wondered if she'd see any of those people again. Probably. It was a small world. And people always had a habit of popping up when you least expected them. An interesting family, to be sure. She'd need to look into the rumors of witchcraft. Wouldn't that be wondrous, finding someone who could truly perform such acts? Was the boy, with his draping serpent, a member of their magical group? Or was he kept out? Questions, Questions. And so little time.
She chuckled a bit as she thought this all over. What a very strange evening.

Curveball Thunderous Applause
As the crowds swarm and the attendees of the event are warmed by the mead and ale for purchase - a temperate bracing against the cold as the night settles in - shouts and calls start to take over the crowd - yells of excitement and hushed tones of eagerness ripple over the heads of the crowd as a space seems to be forming in the very center of the plateia. Families pull their children back to watch as soldiers of the Midas unit encourage the people of the capitol back and away, before taking their place at the core of the crowd. In their hands rest large daggers used in the Dance of Knives. Let the entertainment begin!
