Having already seen that Stephanos had all the information that he needed for the trip to Egypt and the military concerns that they would see to once there, Vangelis had hoped to also speak with the Taengean's wife before departing from their chambers that day, but Pia had been engaged elsewhere at the time. A man who was more about getting a job done than the concerns of etiquette, however, he simply corrected that issue that morning by tending to their chambers once more.
This time, he knew Stephanos had left the manor to see to some matters regarding the unit he had been assigned for the war campaign so Olympia would be alone, yet without thoughts of the kind in his head, Vangelis was slow to register that this might therefore not be the most appropriate time to waylay her in their suite.
With pure intentions and a desire to see the matter complete, however, Vangelis strode the corridors of his home, arriving quickly at the guest quarters that had been assigned to the previous King and Queen of Taengea. Raising a hand, he curled his fingers into his palm and offered a very dull and quiet knock, fully aware that there might be a sleeping babe on the other side of the door. The last thing he wanted to do was to have to try to conduct a conversation with the woman whilst her baby clamoured for her attention with wails and shrieks.
Vangelis wasn't particularly a baby person.
Waiting for the door to be opened or for him to be permitted inside, Vangelis called softly through the door.
"Lady Olympia." He spoke calmly and whilst not in the friendliest way, most certainly not with a tone of hostility. He didn't bother to identify himself as surely his voice was known to the other woman by now? "I wish to speak with you for a moment. It will not take long."

Rocking the cradle holding her infant daughter, Olympia sang softly and watched as the blue eyes identical to Stephanos' own grew heavy and finally closed. In the first months of her life Tisiphone had grown quickly from tiny, fragile, wrinkled babe into a healthy, beautiful, sweet child. She still had her moments of screaming as if her heart would break, and woke at the oddest hours imaginable, but the more time passed the more the queen found herself entirely in love with her daughter. It helped that her husband had found it within him to hold and care for his child at last.
She knew how much of a disappointment it had been for Stephanos to have a daughter instead of the son they had both so desperately wanted. It would have given them something stronger to fight for, an heir to a throne to return victorious. It had very nearly killed her, and she was still nowhere near as strong as she had been before the birth, but she was recovering and as she looked down at the creature she had tried so hard to love, she knew in her heart it had been worth it.
The quiet knock on the door was a surprise, and she frowned for a moment before watching Tisiphone to see if she would stir before standing to see who it was. Stephanos would not have knocked, and he had only left to see to the new duties Vangelis had given him. The voice of the crown prince of Colchis had her stilling with a hand on the door and her lips pursed in a scowl of distaste at his address. She knew her sister had taken the throne, but to hear herself called "lady" once more instead of "highness" or "majesty"grated on her nerves. Taking a deep breath to center herself, she opened the door to the familiar figure of Vangelis, just enough that she could see through it but not enough to welcome him to the chamber within.
"Prince Vangelis. Do you have a regiment to assign me to as well as my husband?" Pia kept her voice low for the sleeping child, and sweet enough it could be in jest though the smile on her lips did not meet her eyes. "What do you wish."

Holding true to his nickname of the Stone Prince, Vangelis offered only a nod to Olympia's humour at the door and wondered at her refusal to let him inside a chamber that he himself owned. Then again, he was unfamiliar with the mothering tendencies of women who had recently birthed offspring and he simply chalked it up to an over-active protectiveness where her child was concerned. Especially as he could note a crib still swaying with motion on the other side of the room.
Vangelis tilted his head as if to offer her a point in some kind of verbal sparring and whilst he offered no smile or joyful tone as she it was clear from his words that he was equally open to the jest...
"I think you likely to be more fearsome a warrioress than some of my men, my Lady." He told her, the look in his eye one of calm and mature respect.
"But, on this occasion, I am hoping to be able to help you, not the other way around." His gaze looked towards the chamber over her shoulder before coming back to her features. "Might I step inside for a moment?" He asked. "I swear I will not stay longer than a minute but this is not something I wish to discuss in the hall."
Knowing that she was a young woman who might be alone inside the chamber depending on where the servants were at this time of day, Vangelis wondered if his friendship with her husband and his position of royalty would be enough to encourage her to open the door wider and permit his entry. He was not interested in discussing such things were all manner of slave or servant might overhear...

”I have birthed a child, your highness. Any horrors of war would be nothing to me.”
There was little humor in her tone now, uncertain if Vangelis spoke true or if he was simply trying to patronize her. Not only had she birthed a child she had been through the gates of Hades more than once. The sights of the Circus on the fateful day of Stephanos’ ascension, nearly losing her child, the pain of her husband’s infidelity, betrayal by the court and fleeing for her life, it all gave her varying nightmares. She had seen enough misery to last a lifetime and though she felt her heart growing hard, she was trying her best now with Stephanos on her side once again to be herself once more. The problem was she had been someone else for so long, been changed by so many things, she didn’t know properly who she was anymore.
Vangelis’ request to come into the room brought a frown to her forehead, and she glanced over her shoulder at the sleeping form of Tisiphone in the cradle before looking back at him with a sigh, her voice still soft.
”The baby has just fallen asleep finally, keep your voice down and do not disturb her else it will be another age before she is quiet again.” Olympia stood back enough to let him into the room, allowing him to deal with the door as she checked to ensure that the little eyes were fluttering in dreams and not in waking. A little sniffle left Tisi before the child shifted and fell into a heavier breathing pattern once again, and only once she was fully settled did the queen turn to the prince before her.
”What do you wish to speak of then, if it is not to give more orders.”

Vangelis gave no comment over Olympia's assurance that war was equal to childbirth. Such a thing was one of those topics that no-one of either gender could surely answer upon a confident conclusion. For no man could ever understand the difficulty of such an ordeal as birthing a child, whilst no woman was permitted upon the most gruesome of frontlines. Vangelis knew well enough from the example set down by his parents that he was not to enter into an argument of superiority between the sexes. Each held their own strengths, their own purposes in life - neither one more important than the other. Simple difference.
With a simple nod in affirmation of her words when she mentioned that the child had only recently fallen into slumber, Vangelis stepped into the room behind her and then turned to ensure that the door was closed with as quiet a sound as possible so as not to disturb Stephanos' daughter.
Vangelis ignored any potential jibe over his giving orders. Mostly because he simply didn't notice it but also that he would he have understood why the bestowing of a well-paid position of power in his armies was so insulting an offer to a man with military experience, if he had. Instead, he simply continued on with his purpose in visiting the woman and stood close to the door where she might not feel threatened by his presence within the chambers and spoke with a low and quiet tone of voice, in the hopes of not disturbing the babe she tended.
"I'll not keep you long. I wished only to confirm that regardless of the fates before your husband and I overseas, you and your daughter will be welcome here as long as you need." He stated, getting the simple part over and done with. "I wished only to warn you of the lay of the Colchian courts whilst we're gone. Including that of the Thanasi who I would encourage you to avoid in every way possible and to avoid the south eastern quadrant of the Lower Levels in the capitol. Thievery and crime have escalated there and whilst I have soldiers currently tending to the matter, I would not have your family at risk until the issue has been resolved."
The message was simple and basic enough but Vangelis had seen fit to deliver it in person. Such promises were perhaps more finalised on paper but they meant more when delivered in human form and Vangelis' word had always been his bond. In an uncharacteristic moment for the man, his understanding of human empathy had led him to offer the assurances himself.

Olympia blinked as Vangelis spoke, grateful he kept his tone low but puzzled as to why he thought this had to be kept secret from the rest of the world. She had certainly hoped that they were welcome to stay since he was taking her husband from her for this war, and for a brief moment there was a flash of panic as to what might happen to her if something happened to Stephanos. Would he give her a widow's pension or would she be forced to leave and find some other way to keep herself alive? Or would his kindness continue to extend and allow her and her daughter to occupy this suite of rooms indefinitely.
It was the warning that caused her to frown, crossing her arms over her chest as she considered his warning. Already she had been discussing what would be best for them all with her family and husband, her mother wanted Olympia and Tisiphone to return with them to Taengea to be closer to her sisters, but if Selene was staying in Colchis, would possibly become its queen one day, she did not want to leave her side. Pursing her lips in thought she finally gave a nod and met his gaze.
"Thank you, your highness. I shall take those words into consideration. I have no intention of tangling myself in additional political trials, like those who attempt to murder your father the king."
The lady Thea had always been kind to her, the first person other than Desma who had known Olympia was with child, even if she hadn't been anyone important at that time. But to be told not to consort with the sort of people whos patriarch would make a blatant attempt to kill an anointed king in public, and injure her own husband instead, felt as if Vangelis for all of his redeeming qualities, did not think her capable of rational thought.
"Perhaps my mother's request that I return home with them is more pertinent than I had thought. I thank you for your warning, I have one of my own to give."
There had been a time not long ago when she had technically outranked the crown prince, though she supposed it was more an equal footing to be queen to crown prince than a true step up. It was with that air that she now spoke to him, unafraid of this stone prince after the monsters she had faced down before.
"Stephanos is everything to me. Your generosity to us will never be forgotten. Nor his service to you. Should anything happen to him in service to your family it would not be something I forgive lightly."

Vangelis stood and watched as the young woman offered her thanks for his warnings and his assurances but seemed to do it with an air of propriety. As if she saw his and his family's generosity as inconveniences. Or as expected contingencies when she had so been wounded by the loss of a crown. Regardless, Vangelis paid such observations little mind. For he was neither this woman's father nor husband. And despite the fact that he had arranged for the room over hers and her family's head, he was not about to leave his friend and his familial unit without a home or food simply because he had a personal distaste for his wife.
Ergo, Vangelis said nothing, keeping his features calm and expressionless as was becoming of the 'Stone Prince'. He neither did or said anything over her comment about leaving for he saw that entirely as to her own choice or perhaps something to be discussed with Stephanos rather than himself. He had offered her a roof; he didn't necessarily expect nor order her to use it.
What he did react to though - just a little - was the comment over forgiveness. That she would offer him none if something was to happen to Stephanos while upon their war campaign in the southern continent. She warned him that despite all that she had given her and her husband and child that he would immediately be worth nothing in her mind if he was to permit said husband to perish.
As he was a man who could neither understand the feelings of a woman, nor the emotions of a married spouse, Vangelis made no judgement upon the lady over words that he personally considered to be ignorant and naive. Instead, he simply stated the record as he saw it and did little more to make promises that he could not keep.
"I fear that if you are looking for guarantee of safety for your husband, you have made a foolish decision in choosing one whose career lies in the military, my Lady." He offered to her, knowing that Stephanos was a military man back in Taengea too. His career here was hardly a novelty. "Whilst Stephanos will neither die by my hand nor that of my lack of effort, I offer you no promises of his safe return and will have to suffer your poor opinion should such a fate be chosen for us. Good day, my Lady."
And with a soft and slight bow at the waist, Vangelis turned on his heel, left the room and was careful to shut the door softly behind him so as not to disturb the sleeping babe...
