Athanasia sat back quietly as she thought back to all she had been through the past few months, almost not even believing that it had happened to her and not in some story written by the creators of plays. In an attempt to distract herself, she asked her cousin if she had ever been to Taengea before. Hopefully, it will be a calm visit with nothing more happening than learning more with her bow and having some fun. "I agree, I think it could be fun to meet new people, see new things, and maybe learn new skills with my bow." The moment the water was calm, Athanasia noticed even as she wasn't sure she should move.
With a sigh of relief that accompanied Imeeya's suggestive comment, Asia nodded her agreement to fresh air being needed at that moment. "Thank you. Yes, I think it would be a good thing to go explore now." With that Asia made her way up the narrow stairs and out into the cool crisp sea air. The sound of the wind rushing around after being caught by the sails was loud the first moment stepping into the open air, but as her hair danced in the breeze, Asia finally felt herself relax as the confined walls of the hallway and cabin vanished from her thoughts. Closing her eyes while taking a deep breath, the cool air filled her with contentment as she moved with the soft rocking of the ship.
To think, if she wasn't so afraid of her room, she would think that the rocking could lull her to a peaceful sleep. "I wonder how fast we are going.. do you think Vangelis' horse could even compare in speed?" A fun question that Asia directed towards Imeeya, she knew that Vang's horse was very fast, but she would bet that the boat was faster. Leaning over the edge, she watched the water froth white around the edges as the bow created its own waves, giggling as the elegant dolphin creatures started to jump out of the water and seemingly race the large boat. "Creatures of Posideon, I wonder if you have any messages to share."
Moving around, Athanasia dodged around the crew as she made an effort to stay out of the way, watching with curiosity as they worked the ropes and gears to make the boat work with complete smoothness. With a turn of her head, she caught sight of her brother and Nike talking, making her way over to where they stood while avoiding the crew members.

Following his gaze to the deck, Nike's eyes fell on the re-emergence of the youngest Kotas and her cousin on the decks, and gave a relieved laugh when Vangelis offered to take watch of her. "Yes, you better. I am taking leave from Asia for a week after the market antics she got up to." Nike murmured with a dry, amused chuckle. While the Commander was fond of Athanasia, the princess was a handful and she swore it would give her white hairs one day.
Hearing his low voice, Nike raised a brow - but at least now, her gaze no longer held the brimming concern that used to be there when he had just gotten himself injured and abed. Instead, she merely remained patiently listening to him and rolled his eyes at his threat. He would use her fear of large bodies of water against her, now wouldn't he.
"I'll just drag you down with me." she muttered in return, shooting a challenging look at him before straightening up and relaxing. Her shoulders loosened the further they drew away and as Midas disappeared in the horizon. Her locks, brunette and short as they were, were still caught in the wind created by the speed of the moving vessel. "But I'll save that challenge for later - halfway through our journey maybe. It's been a while since we properly trained last."
With a last challenging glint in her eye, Nike cast her gaze down to the rest of where the men were moving their things in, interspersed with the ship's crew doing their various tasks in the process of getting them to Taengea. It'd be a week or so before they got there, but in all fairness, the Commander was hoping the winds and Poseidon would be in their favour, so they would be able to arrive earlier than the stipulated time. Not that she'd enjoy being in Taengea again - the woman had no love for that kingdom. But the earlier she got there, the faster they can finish their work and get back to Colchis, grounds she was much familiar with.
"I'll stay here - you go and make sure she doesn't dive off the side of the ship saying hi to the dolphins." Nike murmured to Vangelis as her eyes fell on Athanasia leaning over the edge of the boat, the small laugh escaping her.

Nodding in agreement at the idea of having a real sparring session with Nike again - for Vangelis was of the same opinion as she; that he needed to start working his muscles harder again - the crown prince then snorted in amusement at Nike suggesting Asia might fall overboard.
The amusement was short lived, however, when he saw Nike looking out over the ship and his neck almost snapped as Vangelis turned to look after his sister who was indeed leaning over the edge of the ship to see the animals below.
Groaning at the idea that his sister would never be the elegant princess that their mother hoped for, Vangelis made a face at Nike and then left her with the ship's captain by the help,
Holding the hilts of his dual swords, pressing his hands into the pommels in order to lift the ends of the sheaths out of the way of the steps, Vangelis jogged down the little stairs onto the main deck and made his way towards his sister with a powerful, long stride.
Ducking beneath cargo carriers and avoiding the men who were leaning back against ropes to tighten sails or rigging, Vangelis headed over to the young princess, meeting her half way across the ship as she had obviously finished greeting the sea life and had been making her way towards the rear of the boat to join him.
With a raised hand, his finger pointed towards his boots and spinning it in a circle, Vangelis silently told his sister to head in the opposite direction, reaching out to place a hand gently between her shoulder blades to encourage her forwards.
Together, the two siblings, Imeeya and the young Euphemia who had just joined them, headed to the front prow of the vessel, out of the way of the sailors.
At just a few steps up, the front of the ship was empty of people as there was no need to secure or fasten equipment up this end. It was here that they could interact, talk or just be - whatever the women preferred, and not have their presence be a hindrance to the sea folk that hurried about below...

Imeeya hadn’t known how to respond to Asia, still so focused on her archery even when they were on a trip to a new place. Imeeya was never one to judge her cousin on her interests, in fact, she had always been one to encourage her, she didn’t see why Asia should be denied the ability to learn something just for being a woman. It was just that it surprised her to find that the princess was so uninterested in the potential political implications of their trip. Imeeya managed to push the thought aside. It seemed that everything Asia did managed to rub her the wrong way lately. Ever since she had seen her kiss that man at the market night.
Imeeya breathed in the fresh air as she emerged from under the ship. The feel of the salt air in her face helped to settle her stomach and her mood, and Euphemia came up the stairs to join them out on the deck, but that relief was short lived as Asia practically flung herself out over the side of the ship to look at the dolphins. Imeeya resisted the urge to gasp out a warning to Asia. Imeeya couldn’t bear to think about what would happen if she fell over the side. Once it was clear the princess would manage to stay on the boat, Imeeya’s fear faded back down to the low-level annoyance towards Athenasia that seemed to be a constant these days. Imeeya knew that the only people of any consequence on the boat were people that Asia was close to, but even so, hanging off the side of the boat was hardly dignified behavior. Besides, it wasn’t like the sailors wouldn’t talk.
Imeeya tried to keep her annoyance out of her voice as she responded to Asia’s question. ”It’s hard to tell how fast we’re going when we’re surrounded by water on all sides,” she responded non-committally. She didn’t really feel like engaging in speculation with Athanasia at the moment. Imeeya was actually relieved when Vangelis stepped in and told them all to head for the bow of the ship. The view from the bow was better than along the side of the ship, and here she didn’t have to worry about being underfoot of the sailors. To be honest, she was fine staying as far away as she could manage from those rough men. The only downside was that being at the bow seemed to amplify the rocking movement of the boat, as the bow rose and fell with every wave that it plowed through.
Imeeya leaned with her back against the railing of the bow, hoping this might give her some sense of stability that might convince her stomach that this movement was normal. “So did the dolphins tell you anything interesting?” Imeeya asked Athanasia, intending it to come across as a joke, but distracted as she was by her own seasickness, she failed at masking the mockery in her voice at the idea that Asia had been talking to the animals at all.

Athanasia listened to Imeeya's comment about it being hard to tell just how fast they were going, looking over the edge as she was to glance at the water. Asia didn't lean to far, still fighting the fear that had filled her not to long ago as she became more comfortable within the open air. With her peek, she saw the dolphins and jokingly asked her question, never expecting any actual answer. With her forearms pressed against the railing, she dared to close her eyes as she took a deep breath through her nose, hoping the cold breeze would chase away the last of her terrors like a cold plunge in a lake deep in the forests of home.
Looking around, Asia focused on that cold breeze that chilled her even as she tried to think of some way to get her thoughts in order with a clearer mind, Vangelis walked over to them, directed them to an area that had no one else around, somewhere that they could talk quietly and with the rushing water it would be much more privately. At the bow, Asia never expected her cousin to answer her previous question or in such a tone as she did. What did she do to vex her cousin so? Was it because she peeked over the edge of the rail to look out at the water? Or was it something else?
Asia didn't even know how to respond to Imeeya, at a loss for what could have caused such annoyance directed her way. Usually they got along so well, more like sisters than cousins. Looking out at the water again, watching the mini waves ripple from the ship and the wind, she finally had a thought that she could possibly have a way to sort out her thoughts. With that held thought, Athanasia looked over at Imeeya, giving her an acerbic look that showed that she caught the mockery. "I guess I am not special enough for any messages from the gods. So no, they did not have anything to say."
With a sigh, she looked over at her good friend and hand maiden, Euphemia and smiled. "Euphie, why don't you take Lady Imeeya and go find a snack or something? Maybe you two can find something to make this trip seem to fly by with something fun to do?" Asia knew that she would probably play with her new bow, and maybe work on some of the cloth that her mother had tried showing her before they left. Though she was headstrong and wanted to do things her way, Asia did like to try and make her mother happy, even if they argued often. Looking over at Imeeya, she gave her a small smile. "I am sure you will find lots to do that will keep you entertained, cousin." 'And hopefully no longer annoyed with me.' Was her ending thought to that statement.
Once the two women left, she looked over at her brother, shifting around as she thought of how she would word things in a way that wouldn't have Vangelis in a foul mood for the rest of the voyage. "Vang.. could I talk to you for a moment? Please?"

Please?"
Vangelis was used to the sea. He had spent a large collective portion of his life on one form of vessel or another, sailing between kingdoms in his role as diplomat and crown prince, or sailing to the North where there seemed an almost unending supply of insurgent fighters to continue to cause skirmishes against their settlements in the Northern Lands. Either way, he was one of those rare beings who was now as comfortable at sea as he was on land. He neither walked with the drunken sway of a sailor when on the isles, nor did he wobble able to deck of a vessel - no matter how small - went out on the water. It did, admittedly take him a few minutes for his body and mind to calibrate his balance both in first getting into a sea fare and off again onto his destination, but after those few minutes he were perfectly content with a foundation that sway and one that stayed firm beneath his feet. As such, Vangelis was able to make his way over the deck with ease, his steps confident as he almost danced his way between the sailor crouched before the canon, the one bent over backwards the fix some rigging and the other who carried a long set of oars around the deck, swinging them dangerously, safe in the knowledge that any experienced sea voyager would know the keep an eye out for him and duck at the appropriate moment.
With his hand moving to her shoulder, Vangelis guided Athanasia, along with her cousin and servant to the front point of the ship where - Asia was entirely correct in her thoughts - harsh road of waves breaking against the prow would mask any conversations they might hold. Not to mention the fact that none of the sailors had a care to listen anyway - they had more important tasks at hand.
Vangelis had not intended to chat. That was not the purpose of guiding his youngest sibling up and out of the way of the ship’s crew. Instead, he had simply intended to find a spot on the deck where the young women would cause the least hassle or be at the least risk of being smacked in the face with an oar.
So, when Asia suggested that Lady Imeeya take her lady in waiting to explore the ship, and then turned to him with eyes expectant, Vangelis - internally - rolled his eyes. How on the Gods' green earth had he ended up being counsellor to his siblings? It wasn't exactly like he was known for his emotional connections.
Instead of denying her, however - for Vangelis of Kotas could deny his sister very little if it did not hinder her safety or their family name - Vangelis simply added to Asia's instructions.
"Watch your heads and your surroundings." He told the girls. "Go below deck if you must, but stay out of the crew's way."
It was only a few moments later when Imeeya and Euphie had decided where they wanted to explore and had set about it that Vangelis moved to stand against the front of the ship. Stepping one leg forward and straightening the other back, Vangelis rested his forearms on the ship's edge, not dissimilarly to how his sister had been inspecting the sea life just a little while earlier. He looked out at the horizon and noted the changing hues of the sky as it became noon. The sea breeze tugged at his hair and he casually wondered for a second if he should cut it again - it was getting long enough to curl - or if he would let it grow out once more and tie it back as he had done a few times over the course of his life.
It was then that Asia asked her query or whether she could speak to him.
Starting a conversation with a request of permission to begin it was never a good sign that the topic of choice would be small or insignificant. Which meant that Vangelis mentally prepared himself for whatever request his feral little princess of a sister was about to make of him.
His relationship with his sister was a strong and yet distant one at times. Abroad fighting for most of her childhood, his connection with Asia was less like a brother and more a second father. Someone to seek advice from but never play with. Someone to look to for aid and protection but never to bond with on a personal level. Such a relationship was natural when there was such a division of age and Asia had Silas to play the brother when such a connection was required. If an issue was so large to be brought to Vangelis' attention then it had to be dire. So, he steeled himself against the worst.
Never one to shy away from a dangerous fight - be it with weapons or with words - Vangelis did not hesitate in encouraging Asia to speak. Instead of answering her with words he merely looked back at her over his shoulder and raised an inquiring eyebrow, offering a clear indication that she now had his full attention.

Imeeya hadn’t meant for her remark to Asia, to be so cutting, but she could see the hurt in Asia’s eyes at the sarcasm in her voice. Imeeya hadn’t meant for it to happen but it seemed that the distance between the two of them had only managed to widen since the night of the market. Imeeya had hoped that they might be able to talk about what had happened during the trip, but the gulf between the two cousins seemed almost impossible to reach across in this moment. When the princess told her handmaiden that she and Imeeya should go find something to occupy themselves, she knew that Asia was firmly shutting the door to conversation.
Honestly, the last thing Imeeya wanted to do at this point was to go get a snack, her stomach was still rolling as the ship lurched through the waves, but she could take a hint. She turned to Euphemia as Asia went back to visit with her brother. “Let’s see if we can find something to do below decks.” Imeeya led the way, cautiously picking her way down the steep stairs into the boat’s interior. She did not entirely have her balance, and she didn’t want to make a fool of herself by falling over not even a few hours into their journey. Imeeya had no desire to return to the cramped quarters of their room, yet she wanted even less to run into any of the crew of the ship. Despite the presence of Vangelis and Nike right on the deck, her experiences with sailors hadn’t been the best, and she’d rather not chance it.
Imeeya sat down on her bed and scooted back until she was securely leaning against the back wall. Tucking her feet in beside her on the bed, Imeeya sighed and tried to convince her stomach to settle well enough. Perhaps a distraction would help take her mind off the seasickness. She turned to Euphemia. “Would you care for a game of riddles?” Imeeya asked. She always enjoyed a game of riddles, it didn’t hurt that she tended to be very good at the game.

Asia didn't even know where to begin as she followed her brother, the wind whipping around them to ensure their privacy was not to be interrupted as she fought for the right words. "Vangelis, have you... have you ever liked someone?" It was the best question she could come up with. She had an idea that Vang might be fond of the Lady Selene, but she was never quite certain and never dared to ask before. "I ask because I am not sure even how to start." It was now that Asia showed just how flustered she really was. Her eldest brother, her confidant, was one of the very few that she felt no need to hide how she was feeling as she fidgeted with the cloak that wrapped around her shoulders, leaning back against a pole as she faced her brother.
"How do you feel about Lord Silanos of Valaoritis?" There, she asked her first question, testing the waters as she prepared to open up about everything that had happened at the market that night. Nerves filled her as her heart raced, not sure on what she should even do as she opened up to Vangelis after seemingly forever of not having anyone to talk to really. "I ask because.." It was here that Asia took a visible breath in, a note to Vang that she was fighting with her own thoughts about all that she was about to blurt out. "He kissed me. That night at the market festival. When I went to go talk to him, asking him why he could not even bring himself to say hello to me when I thought that he was becoming a friend, he seemed to be panicked and kissed me before running away." Covering her face for a moment with her hands to hide her shameful blush at her remembering her first kiss, Asia couldn't help but pause to take a few more calming breaths before continuing. "I don't know what to do about this, brother. I never even allowed any man that close before, and I just do not know what to do. Should I do anything? Did I shame myself, even though I did not ask for the kiss?"
Athanasia stopped to get her wits again as she listened to her brother speak his mind, hoping with all that she could that he didn't think she shamed herself or their family. "Between Silanos and..." Quick as anything, Asia's cheeks turned bright red as she covered her mouth firmly, her eyes glancing over to where Nike was to make sure he was nowhere within listening distance. "*ahems* I just do not know what to do. Give me a bow, and I can go hunt down a deer in the woods and bring it back before nightfall. In the area of liking someone, I don't.. I do not know what to do." There were other areas too that Asia didn't touch, still remembering the smart verbal lashings her siblings and parents all gave her when she found herself in trouble after trying to help her family and city. Yeah, she wasn't going there if she didn't have too.

At the first question to leave his sister's lips, Vangelis already felt like he was drowning. A sense of discomfort, uncertainty, awkwardness and doom all mingled in his stomach and cemented themselves in his lower belly, as Asia began to conversation - directing it towards discussions of romantic feelings. None of aforementioned emotions were those of comfort to the Colchian prince; for he dealt with none of them on a regular basis. Which mean, even before she had fully broached the topic, he was already out of his depth.
Mentally he was already watching himself drown at the approaching subject.
Not that he would ever allow his features or frame to communicate such awkwardness.
Blessed by the Gods to feel no fear (so some said) he might be. But he was also "blessed" - if you could call it that - with years upon years of military training. And in the military, you did not show your emotions on your face no matter how hard they might have been pounding on the lining of your stomach or the inside of your skull. You kept your eyes cold, your features set and your muscles loose on their bones. And you did it consistently without pause or hesitating to trigger awkward jolts or shivers.
As such, the exterior Vangelis that was presented to Asia, as he lent against the ships rail, his forearms bracing his weight and his eyes staring out unseeingly upon the horizon, was one of calm serenity and stoic consideration as she began her verbal plight.
Had he ever liked someone...?
Physically? Which he suspected she wasn't asking the answer was yes; he was a red-blooded male and desired the intimate company of the opposite sex as much as any other man. But emotionally? With thoughts of romance and compassion and closeness?
The answer was a distinct and resounding no. Whilst the notion of Selene of Leventi popped into his head as an example of how he was finally starting to breach into the realms of friendship, he could would all certainty say that he was yet to experience that of romance.
In truth, the concept of romantic feelings or adoration were not ones he felt the desire to need nor want. As far as he was concerned, he would eventually marry in order to give Colchis a Queen rather than a life partner to himself. Whether it was his militant, cut and dry lessons in mortality, his courtly upbringing or stoicism and politics or just his personal nature in which he was never overtly emotional or desperate in his affections, Vangelis didn't know. All he knew was that he looked at the world of romance, flirtation and intimacy with cold and calculating accuracy. What his kingdom needed, what his family needed, what his body needed... In that order. What his heart needed had never seemed important enough to ever make it onto the list.
This being said, Vangelis didn't like the idea of shooting Asia down right off the bat. She was a confident (if a little naive) young woman and, if she was coming to him for advice on emotions, it was clear she felt entirely lost. Else a more appropriate tutor would have surely been chosen. For her to seek him out personally, desperation must have played a hand in it.
Ergo, Vangelis didn't immediately deny every having feelings of "liking", as she described it. Neither did he state that he had. He stayed quiet, looking back over his shoulder at her and, with his eyes and brows alone, encouraging her to get to her point.
When Athanasia continued, that doom that Vangelis had felt earlier started to rear its head again, this time in the form of patriarchal possession. His brotherly claim over Asia was feeling immediately threatened at the notion that she was interested in some man - some boy most likely - whom she had clearly shown enough interest in, or who had shown enough interest in her, for her to broach the subject with her eldest brother.
Vangelis felt his breathing hitch and quicken a little, as if in anger. As Head of the Kotas House, her eldest brother, crown prince to the kingdom and future King of Colchis, it was like his ego was telling him he should have known about this sooner. Before whoever the Lord was that had attracted her attention was by a fly in her peripheral vision.
Damnit, but he needed to be home more often than he currently was. Such matters needed seeing to soon...
Athanasia paused and looked awkward in Vangelis' silence, so the prince turned where she stood and rested his backside against the ship's boundary, his elbows propping his weight behind him. He slouched a little, straightened his legs and crossed one ankle over the other, watching her intently to show he was listening, but still refusing to speak a word until he was given a direct query that he could answer with certainty and fact.
That opportunity quickly came and passed, leaving Vangelis with rage so complete he thought it might eat a hole through his gut.
"How do you feel about Lord Silanos of Valaoritis?... I ask because he kissed me... He kissed me."
Now, that Vangelis had a fucking answer to!
But wouldn't you know it, it was on this point that Asia didn't wait for him and just kept talking, clearly nervous in revealing the finer details and so speaking with a speed that belied her anxiety. The description she gave painted a nasty picture in Vangelis' mind that he wanted removed or blotted out. Preferably with the blood of Silanos of Valaoritis.
Damnit, he should have stayed in Colchis and finished the business with that House before he left for Taengea!
Yet, if he had done that, he wouldn't have known about any of this with Athanasia and therefore would have let the bastard of the hook! That was what he had been planning to do when he had made plans to travel to Eubocris! He had been planning on offering Valaoritis a way to prove their loyalty once more and knock some sense in Silanos, whom Vangelis had given the benefit of the doubt to; that he was simply a over enthusiastic and - in that one instance - drunk young man who had yet to find his feel in the world of adulthood.
While his brother (quite rightly) wanted to kill the man, Vangelis had been willing to let the matter go. A kiss to his married and uninterested sister-in-law, he could just about cope with.
A kiss delivered to his naive and impressionable sister? A young girl with zero experience with men, who would trust too implicitly and love whole heartedly? Within a week of making a pass at said sister-in-law?
Yeah... that was not something even divine mercy could forgive.
Realising he needed to speak; that he had gotten lost in his own feelings on the matter as Asia had beseeched him for aid in coming to terms with her feelings and actions, Vangelis hesitated for a moment, his jaw clicking in and out of place at his ear as he restrained his fury.
"No." He finally said, the single word exiting his throat so garbled by the restraint he was inflicting on his chest that it was barely recognisable. "You've not shamed yourself, sister mine." He told her, before licking at his lips, his mouth suddenly dry. He glanced in her direction with a raised brow. "But you need to be careful of the place and time you indulge in such intimacies. A public place is not appropriate." His words were harsh but his eyes were kind. Until they blinked and the subject was changed from her to her would be beau.
With a dismissive lightness to his tone that he didn't feel, Vangelis turned back around to his former position of looking out to see as he spoke his next words.
"Besides, where Silanos is concerned I wouldn't worry... He'll show you no further attentions." His words, he realised belated, could have reflected back on her so Vangelis quickly clarified as he glanced back at her around the bicep that bulged in anger as his fingers gripped the side of the boat with a force he was wanted to exert elsewhere - namely the neck of one Silanos of Valaoritis. "Because, if he does, I'll kill him."

Asia felt lost as she fumbled with her words. Watching as her brother sat quietly as he listened, stoic in his demeanor but comforting enough that she kept on. His eyes told her that he wouldn't be opposed to liking someone, though she thought that it was possible that he already did. Wasn't Selene his companion as he got well for several weeks? Maybe she was wrong in thinking he might?
Her thoughts were jumbled as her heart felt like it might race out of her chest, a new development from her time in the dark, a taste of true fear and anxiety. So as Athanasia pressed on, asking about Silanos and if she did something wrong, and everything flooded out quickly and in a jumble, as she tried to voice her worry and confusion. She almost missed the change in her brother's temperament, how his muscles in his arms bulged as if he was restraining himself from hitting something, or someone. "I-I mean, I just... I feel lost. I'm sorry to bother you with all of this." Backing up a step before turning towards the sea, Asia wondered if she really just messed everything up.
So when Vangelis finally spoke, a simple word, 'No.' but said in such a way that had shivers go up Asia's spine. It was then that she could guess that he was indeed in a rage, but at what? Was he made at her? Silanos? Relief rushed through her like cold water when he assured her that she did not shame herself, turning finally to face him in time to see his arched brow as he looked at her, his next words making her face burn with the shame that he said that she didn't occur. Looking down at her feet, nodding in acknowledgment to his words. "I will remember no to, brother. I do not wish to bring shame to our family or myself."
Asia knew she sounded very proper right then, but after her brothers had finally gotten her out of that house and after she prayed to the gods in the dark she had a lot of promises to keep. One promise was to be better than the wild and feral princess that she was known to be. She wanted to make her family proud of her and not be their shame. So when Vangelis made the vow that if Silanos showed her further attentions he would kill him, Athanasia's eyes grew wide. "Why kill him? Wouldn't that be a bad thing for you? I do not wish to cause you any more strife!" She could feel her eyes burn as the thought of someone dying because of her, this was a person, not some animal at the end of her arrow. Running her fingers through her hair, loosening the binds to try and ease a growing headache as some strands came free to fly in the breeze. "Outside of training with princess Dorothea, what else is in store for me? How can I become better when dealing with men so I never bring our family shame?" There, a question that she hoped could get an easy answer, but was anything ever easy?

As Athanasia's eyes bulged and he watched their brightness shift and flicker as she clearly attempted to understand his anger or why he was so violent in his assertions towards her would be beau, Vangelis felt a frustration burning in his torso. Not anger - for he could never be angry at Asia. But a frustration at her waywardness, her naivete. She had not been listening to their mother when she had been told over and over the sanctity of herself, of her role; the significance of her position as princess of the realm.
Uncertain that he could do little where his mother had done years of work, Vangelis accepted that - whether it worked or not - he had to say something in response to his sister's beseeching questions.
But where to find the words...?
Vangelis inhaled slowly and at length through his nose, as he kept his gaze trained on the horizon for a moment. Then, with a sharp exhale, his arms bulked and his hands pushed his frame up from the edge of the ship and the spray of the sea. He felt the window tug his hair in a different direction as he turned to assess his sister, unsure how to go about expressing the ways of the world as she had to learn to see them...
Moving forwards, Vangelis set his hands on the girl's slim shoulders and turned her to face the front of the ship, moving to stand behind her. From around her shoulders, Vangelis pointed out towards the horizon where the sun had set the very edges of the world alight.
"See that?" He asked her, his finger tracing the line of the water. "You are that horizon." He told her, keeping on hand on her shoulder and the other stretched out in front of them. "The edge where sky meets water. Its where the sun rises and disappears, where it sets the water glowing. There is nothing more powerful than the sea and the sky - forces beyond our control and in the realms of the Gods. The horizon is powerful, beautiful and infinitely changing to any situation. No matter the time of day, where the sun is placed, where the ships upon its surface sail, it adapts and changes and never loses any of its beauty or vibrancy. A princess is a horizon. Always beautiful, always powerful and never diminished by its surroundings."
Moving around his sister in order to stand before her, keeping the horizon in view beside him, but meeting her gaze with his own, his face turned stern.
"You can never catch a horizon." He told her. "You can never reach it, never possess it. It belongs to the land and the sea and the sky." The crown prince reached out and placed a fingertip to his sister's chest, right over her heart. "You, belong to Colchis. You are Colchis. You are its heritage and its legacy. You are the power in its rocks, the soul of its waters and the strength of its people. Athanasia you are more precious than any and all stones and metals beneath our home. You are the entirety of Colchis."
Straightening and moving away from her, Vangelis loosened out his arms to dissipate the anger that was starting to swell once more.
"Which means..." He continued, speaking over his shoulder to her. "When someone - a single, mortal individual. A boy... tries to kiss you, or touch you, or in any way lay claim over you, it is an invasion." He turned back to her, anger on his face. "It is an invasion of everything that is precious to our home." At the word precious his eyes softened a little and he swallowed.
Vangelis was not a talker, he was not chatty. But when a situation of import called for it, his practice of watching his words meant that he could deliver them when he chose. He just had no idea of his choices of sentiment would reach his sister.

Asia was quiet as she started to lose herself to her thoughts, watching the waves splash up against the side of the vessel before showering them with a light spray of water, cool with the passing breeze. She never expected Vagelis to stand behind her, pointing out the horizon and comparing her to it. What could she even say in response? Powerful? Beautiful? All the things that she never really felt though had always chased to become. Powerful like her father and brothers, beautiful like her mother, a formidable opponent in any field.
"I always wished to be as powerful as you. To have everyone respect that I could take them out just as easily on the field. Just like you and pater." When he turned her to face him, continuing on with what he was saying as if she never said anything at all, his words struck something deep within her. She was a Cholchian. Belonged to Colchis in a way that did not allow for the freedoms most others had. Even less because she was a woman as well. Her future was probably already decided for her, and there she was, tempting fate by risking liking a boy that was afraid of he family.
For a moment, Athanasia had a temptation to lighten the mood, adding in a joke asking if it would be ok if a god wanted her then since he commented on mortal men, but she kept it to herself. The look of anger in his eyes stilled her, making her listen quietly as he told her how precious she was. At that moment, seeing his eyes soften, Asia risked wrapping her arms around his waist and hugged her big brother tight. "Thank you. I will try to make you proud of me, dearest brother. I won't let flirting and sweet words cloud my head again." At least do better than she did with Silanos.

Uncertain for a moment as Athanasia broke forward to wrap her arms around his middle; they were close siblings and Vangelis would die for his sister in a heartbeat but physical affection was not something they often carried out between them, Vangelis quickly readjusted and wrapped his arms around her, his body curling forward because of their significant height difference.
He didn't know if his words had really sunk in or gotten to her but, perhaps, he could hope that his feelings had at least seeped through; his conviction and his strong belief system. Perhaps he would be lucky in that his emotions were the real communicators rather than his words. Either way, when Asia spoke, promising to be more careful he was thankful.
"You don't need to lead men into battle to be respected or strong." He murmured into her hair, but he let the rest of the lesson go. He had already hit her with enough life lessons for now; already adjusted how she was to see her romantic life. How she was supposed to behave as a princess? That was for another time - hopefully one with his mother rather than with him...
