Saro had landed in Egypt after what felt like forever at sea. Not that he was usually one to complain about being on the ship and on the water, but the extended trips could wear on a person, and sometimes it was nice to get on solid ground for a few days. Not to mention they were running a little low on supplies and a little heavy on illegally procured goods. It was as good of time as any to make it to port and offload their things and restock for their next sail. Not to mention Saro was looking forward to sleeping in a real bed.
Normally he would be planning on hitting up a whore house and spending his few days off there, but he had been avoiding such things recently, as hard as it was. He was in love with a man, and he didn’t want to do anything to hurt him. While he could easily do it and never have Adre find out, he didn’t want to do that though. He was trying to be faithful, and he hoped that Adre would appreciate it. And besides, he didn’t want to lie. If he did slip up and sleep with someone else, he would likely admit it.
Right now he was just glad to get off of the ship and have the solid, un-moving wood of the docks under his feet. He took a deep breath, the air smelling of water due to the proximity, and then took a moment to take his surroundings in and get his orientation. His stomach was growling, not having eaten yet for the day. They had spent the morning sailing towards Cairo and docking the ship, there had been no time for the crew to break bread and have anything to eat. Though there had been time to dip into their ale supplies, Saro had made sure of that.
He stretched as he began walking down the dock, mind intent on a little tavern that opened early and had pretty good food, if it was still open. He found that sometimes because he was gone for such extended periods of time, his favourite places were no longer there upon landing once more on the shores. At least the bigger places such as Cairo tended to be a little more stable, and places seemed to stay open much longer.
He continued his walk towards what he hoped would still be the tavern, reaching back behind his head to let his long hair out of the leather tie he had used to hold it back out of his way. He tied the strip of leather instead around his wrist for later use.
He was delighted to find the little tavern still stood, and the owner welcoming him in with a happy smile, knowing full well the sailor would spend some decent money on food and drink as long as it was in supply. Saro just felt like sitting and taking some time for himself at that moment, though if someone interesting came through the door, he wouldn’t mind a bit of conversation.

Adrestus was always cautious in Egypt. Greeks were not as welcome as much as others, and he had to be sneaky and cunning about where he went. But it was just like Adrestus to keep coming for the thrill, for the adventure that it gave him. Of course, as he even docked he made sure that no one saw him as he moved onto the land. He put a hood over his face, covering much of his skin with it to make sure he wouldn’t be noticed. The hood covered most of his face, except for his mouth, and his arms and legs were covered as well with a cloth. His overall plan was just to blend into the background, eat some good Egyptian food, maybe go to the whorehouse… and then leave. The sailor wasn’t planning for a long trip.
The sailor cautiously walked through the city, reaching a tavern. Figuring that he could use a drink or two, Adrestus snuck into the building behind a crowd of men so that he wouldn’t stand out as a lone person. Sure, the hood covered his identity, but he didn’t want to chance anyone to acquire curiosity. He moved with the crowd to the counter as they ordered their drinks, and Adrestus softly ordered his own. He kept his head down, mostly, and kept to himself. His ears were doing most of the work, observing every movement within the tavern, and any movement that could pose as a danger. So far, things had a halcyon atmosphere. He received his drink, and as he tipped his head up to take a drink, he saw a familiar face amongst the tavern. He felt insides tearing apart as he saw the man’s face, and Adrestus stopped dead in his actions. It was him.
He felt his lungs working harder as his breath became short, and slowly Adrestus lowered his drink. He didn’t want his identity noticed, but at the same time, he had a strong urge to go over to the man. He wasn’t sure what he would even say, or even do, but… he had to do something. He didn’t know that he would see Saro again, and he knew that this would probably be the last time. He had to take a chance… to talk to his ex. His movements were intricate as he arose from his seat, and, keeping his head down, he walked towards Saro. There was no way the man would know who he was, but he knew Saro would figure it out as soon as he spoke. He didn’t exactly want the others to know that he was greek. He then had an idea, which would certainly get them alone…
Adrestus quickly grabbed Saro’s glass and threw it to the ground. It shattered as soon as it hit the tavern’s floor, though no one seemed to take any mind to it. The sailor motioned to the back door of the cavern, implying that he wanted Saro to go with him alone. The man didn't dare say a word, or give Saro even a hint of who he was.
