As Imeeya walked home from the Kotas manor, she couldn’t help but find herself worked up again. How dare Lord Silanos yell at her? She had only wanted to show him that she actually had a reason to care whether or not he threw his life away by doing something stupid. In that moment he had seemed almost like he might have real feelings. Clearly she was wrong and that kiss was a mistake. Now she could care less whether or not he lived or died. The man was horrible, leading her on like that, making her believe that he actually could feel bad about something. It was obvious he had only been playing on her feelings so that he could laugh at her. It was so typical of the man to only want to rile her up.
And Vangelis had been no help. Gods knew why she had attempted to convince him not to drag Silanos to Egypt with him. It was more than that idiot deserved and it had just made her make a fool of herself in front of her cousin. She wasn’t sure how, but she was certain that that was somehow Silanos’s fault as well.
By the time Imeeya entered her house she was in a boiling rage. The front door was slammed behind her, shaking the doorframe. Her cloak failed to find a hook in the entranceway, and fell to the floor, whether to be left there or for a servant to pick it up later, it didn’t matter in the least to Imeeya. She could care less about her robe when Silanos of Valaoritis was out there no doubt laughing at her expense. Her footsteps fell heavy and fast on the stairs as she made her way up to the second floor, where the house’s bedrooms were situated.
She walked quickly to her room and closed the door firmly behind her, more loudly than intended, but Imeeya didn’t care. All she wanted right now was to be alone in her own bedroom where no one could bother her. She could pretend that nothing had ever happened with Silanos. In fact, she could pretend that he didn’t even exist. Imeeya flopped down on her bed and began unlacing her sandals. The only thing she was planning to do for the rest of the night was to curl up in her bed, pull the covers over her head and forget about everything that was happening. Under there there wouldn’t be any Silanos, nor any war with Egypt, or even any obnoxious pirate rumors and being grounded. Little did Imeeya know that her sister had other plans for the evening.

It had been a quiet day for Essa. Just the sort of day she preferred really. Tomorrow, the menfolk of Colchis would be sailing off to Egypt for war. She’d be going to the send off tomorrow, of course. Her cousins were leaving, as well as a few soldiers she had made an acquaintance of. She wouldn’t want to let them leave without saying goodbye. She would certainly be praying that each and every one of them would make it back safe.
But with so much commotion due for the next day, she had been grateful to have a simple, quiet day of rest. A day to curl up with a book - or two - and just disappear into a place that was far from here.
At least until she heard the door of their family home slam closed. The sudden noise in an otherwise silent house startled the young girl. She simply stared in the direction of the door for a moment, wondering what was happening. It wasn’t until she heard the heavy rage-filled footsteps up the stairs that she began to relax.
She would recognize her sister’s temper anywhere.
Taking a moment to mark the page of her book with a pale blue ribbon, she set it aside, moving from the library to the front entryway. She found Imeeya’s cloak discarded on the floor, making her sigh softly. Some things never changed. She paused to hang it up properly, smoothing out several wrinkles with a swipe of her hand.
Essa quickly ascended the stairs herself, knowing that her sister would stew in a temper for days if left to her own devices. Anger felt safer to her somehow. Essa didn’t understand it, not in the least, but she adored her sister.
Usually, she was always careful to knock before entering her sister’s room. Today, she didn’t dare give Imeeya the luxury. She’d never willingly let her in when she was in this mood. Even if talking about it was exactly what she needed. Instead, Essa simply slipped inside, closing the door as quietly as she could behind her.
“What’s wrong? And don’t you dare lie to me, Imeeya.”

“What’s wrong? And don’t you dare lie to me, Imeeya.”
Imeeya had only just wriggled her second foot out of its sandal when the door opened and Essa slipped into the room. As if she needed anyone else to criticize her decisions this evening. Only Asia, or perhaps her mother would have been less welcome to intrude on her space and discuss her problems. Asia, because they had decided that Silanos was only trouble, and Imeeya would have to reveal her own hypocrisy if she had that conversation. Her mother would only use it as an excuse to claim that her judgment could not be trusted. While speaking to Essa wouldn’t cause the conflict that speaking to those others might, Imeeya had no desire to speak with her sister, who seemed to have a certain talent for being able to finagle information out of her. She didn’t want anyone to know about the embarrassment she had suffered at the hands of Silanos tonight.
Imeeya looked up at her sister in annoyance. Didn’t Essa have any respect for personal space? “Don’t you ever knock?” Imeeya snapped at Essa. The door had been closed for a reason, and that reason wasn’t so Essa could come in and ask inconvenient questions. “What’s wrong is none of your concern.” That wasn’t a lie, as far as Imeeya was concerned, she wasn’t about to drag Essa into...well whatever it was that had just happened between her and Silanos. That man was utterly infuriating and she just wanted to forget about the whole incident. What little she had done to try to make things better by talking to Vangelis had only managed to embarrass herself further so it was best just to leave this whole incident to be forgotten. If only Essa would stop being so nosy.
“I’m about to head to bed, so unless you have something else you wish to talk about, you can leave.” It was best to be direct about these sorts of things with Essa, otherwise, she would find some excuse or technicality where she might try to continue the conversation. She could only imagine what kind of silly ideas Essa might get about how she felt about Silanos. Those books she read filled her head with such fanciful ideas about romance. It was just a kiss, and clearly a mistake at that. What did it matter what she felt about the man if he didn’t return her feelings? No, it was best to forget that he even existed.

The younger sister knew how Imeeya could be when she was in a temper, and yet still that did nothing to soften her words as she snapped. She couldn’t stop herself from physically recoiling. She knew admitting that she had only not knocked because she knew that her sister would simply send her away would not be helpful, so instead she said nothing.
She bit her lip as her sister repeatedly tried to send her away, trying to focus on her concern for her sister rather than the hurt that was growing deeper with every dismissive word that fell from her lips. Essa quickly turned her head, hoping that her older sister wasn’t looking at her closely enough to notice the tear that slipped from her eye, even as she blinked rapidly to try to clear it away.
“I know you still see me as a child, and I know that I’m not Asia,” she began, fighting to keep her voice steady. She knew Imeeya confided everything in their cousin. They were the closest of friends, and Essa had always been a little envious of their relationship. Much as she cared for her sister and cousins, she was not lucky enough to have anyone so close in age or temperament.
“But I love you, and I worry when you come home like this. I’m sorry if that doesn’t mean anything to you, but its the truth regardless.” Essa swallowed hard, tipping her head back as though to will the tears that threatened to fall back. She hated that she was so weak. Always getting upset over the littlest things. No wonder her sister never wanted to confide in her. She didn’t have an ounce of the same strength that defined the women of Drakos. Finally she forced herself to look back at her sister.
“I just wish that for once you’d let me be your sister instead of always shutting me out.”
Essa sighed heavily, turning towards the door, wondering if she should just give up and leave. “I’m sorry for barging in. I knew you wouldn’t want to talk to me. I should have just left you alone to begin with.”

When Imeeya had spoken to her sister, all she wanted was for Essa to go away so that the day could be over. The evening had gone spectacularly badly. She had managed to upset both Silanos and Vangelis. If Essa hadn’t come into the room, she could have been under her blankets by now with this frustrating and confusing world on the other side of her eyelids where she could safely ignore it. Instead, Essa had come prying about what had gone on.
Imeeya hadn’t meant to make her sister cry. If anyone else had made Essa this upset she would have made sure that they were sorry for that decision. But here she was being just as bad. Imeeya sighed, what was it with people today? It just seemed like absolutely everything she had to say was coming out completely wrong. Why on earth couldn’t a single person take anything the way that she actually meant it? But Imeeya couldn’t be angry with her younger sister. Certainly not when she was trying so hard to pretend she wasn’t upset.
“Essa, come here,” Imeeya said, patting the bed next to her. “It’s not that I think you’re not good enough to talk to. I don’t want to talk to anyone about all this.” It certainly was true that she had no one she even could discuss it with. It wasn’t like she was just going to run to Asia or her mother to discuss what had just happened. “I just made a huge mistake and I don’t want to have to think about it anymore.” Imeeya frowned and shook her head. She couldn’t believe it had ever seemed like a good idea to kiss Silanos of Valaoritis of all people. What had she expected? Of course, all those jokes from him had been just that, jokes. Well, she supposed the joke was on her.
“I just can’t believe the nerve of him!” Imeeya exclaimed, lost in her own thoughts. She had said that out loud. Of course, now Essa was going to have loads of questions. She needed to learn to keep her mouth shut and away from Silanos of Valaoritis.

Essa’s hand hovered over the door when her sister’s voice called her back. She turned to look over her shoulder, hesitating slightly before finally moving to sit in the offered spot beside her sister. She wiped at her eyes before any tears actually fell, trying to calm herself as her sister explained. Her words were more comforting than expected. It was easier to accept that Imeeya didn’t want to speak to anyone than that she simply didn’t want to tell her younger sister about whatever it was.
She listened carefully with wide eyes, her mind silently racing as she tried to guess what sort of mistake her sister had made that was troubling her so deeply. It was a delicate situation when her sister was in such a mood. If Essa said the wrong thing, she’d clam right up and they’d likely both end up feeling more miserable. She was just pondering the right thing to say when her sister suddenly exclaimed loudly.
“Who?”
She asked without even thinking, so jarred by the surprise of her sister’s sudden outburst. It was quickly apparent that Imeeya had never meant to say it, which only told Essa that she would have to convince her to explain. That was never an easy task. Her sister was incredibly stubborn after all.
“Come on, Meeya, tell me. It’ll be impossible to forget about whatever it is until you get it out. You know you’ll just keep stewing over it all night, and for days even if you don’t talk it out.” She reached out to lightly rest her hand on her sister’s arm in a comforting gesture. “Tell me all about it so I can help you feel better.” She tilted her head slightly, looking up at her elder sister. Even sitting their height difference was significant.
“I swear, I won’t breath a word to anyone, and after tonight, I won’t even bring it up again. You can trust me, Imeeya. Please.”

Imeeya instantly regretted saying anything at all, but it wasn’t like she could just take back what she had said. It was so embarrassing that she had even gone through what she had just earlier that night. Now she was stuck having to explain herself to her sister or she knew she’d never hear the end of it. Besides Essa had said she wouldn’t tell anyone, perhaps it was fine just to say something. As much as she hated to admit it, Essa was right, these thoughts were lurking just beneath the surface and she wanted to get it out, at least if her outburst was any indication.
It wasn’t like there was anyone else that she was going to tell. “You can’t tell anyone,” Imeeya reiterated, even though her sister had just assured her that she would never tell a soul. “It was Lord Silanos. He’s just so absolutely infuriating.” Imeeya didn’t want to get into her own mistakes in the matter. She definitely didn’t want to talk about the fact that she had kissed Silanos and that she had been rejected. It was almost too much to bear. The man had always been so flirtatious that she couldn’t have even imagined him saying no to a kiss. What could possibly be so wrong with her that he would reject her?
Imeeya’s jaw clenched in anger at the thought, but that anger was only masking a deeper hurt. Her eyes glinted slightly with tears only her ire was holding at bay. “Can you believe that man dared to call me insane?” Not one to curse, she cut the obscenity from the ‘fucking insane’ descriptor that had actually been attributed to her. “He of all people shouldn’t be throwing that term around. I mean, for one, who flirts with everyone and then reacts like that?” It was too much information yet again, and Imeeya stopped abruptly clenching her jaw and swallowing hard to try to keep her eyes from watering. That was the last thing she needed right now. She wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of making her cry. If Silanos ever learned of this, he’d be sure to mock her mercilessly, not that he didn’t have enough reason to do that already.

Her only reaction to Imeeya’s repeated insistence that it had to remain a secret between the two of them was to scoot slightly closer to her on the bed, leaning in to her sister with wide eyes and waiting ears. The answer she offered was suprising, but for now, Essa said nothing, merely absorbing what her elder sister was willing to reveal and waiting for the details that would follow. Assaulting her with a barrage of questions was always quick to backfire.
Getting information from Imeeya required the finesse of a gentle hand. Perfectly timed questions that were neither too invasive or too disinterested. It was a delicate balance. The more she got her sister talking, the more her words would flow freely, needing only subtle nudging here and there to get all the details. Anything more and she would begin to overthink sharing and it would become like pulling teeth.
She could see the way her sister’s thoughts progressed in the silence as she clenched her jaw and her gaze grew narrower. She was angry, but it went deeper than that. This wasn’t the shallow temper of a woman who hadn’t gotten her way. This was something more. What precisely that meant was yet to be seen.
Essa’s spine straightened slightly in surprise as she mentioned he had called her insane. “Why ever would he think such a thing, sister?” She carefully avoided the question of how believable that was. That was not an answer Imeeya would wish to hear. Not that she was anything close to mad, but she had a way of not just hitting a person’s last nerve, but doing so repeatedly much like a battering ram.
That flirting was relevant intrigued the younger sister. That seemed an odd detail for her sister to focus on. “That sounds terribly infuriating,” she agreed sympathetically. “What was it that he was reacting to? It seems like an odd reaction indeed.” She hoped that by layering her probing question with reassurance and validation for her sister’s upset, perhaps she wouldn’t think too much to stop herself from revealing whatever it was that had caused the argument between Imeeya and the young lord.

This was it, she had already said too much. Imeeya hadn’t wished to discuss this evening’s humiliation with anyone and now here was her sister who had managed to cut to the heart of the matter in only a couple of questions. It was just too embarrassing to have to admit that she had been rejected. And by Silanos of all people. The man had a reputation of hitting on anything that moved and now he had rejected her? How dare he?
Maybe Essa thought she was being subtle with her questioning, but Imeeya knew her sister too well. She could catch the subtle implication that maybe it was something she had done wrong and it just made Imeeya even more frustrated. But Essa had managed it just subtly enough that Imeeya couldn’t call her out on it. If it hadn’t been so infuriating, Imeeya might have almost been proud of her sister’s diplomatic skill. Unable to call out Essa on defending Sil’s actions, Imeeya’s frustrations were again turned on Sil. “I did absolutely nothing that he hadn’t been practically begging me to any other time we met.” Where did that man get off taunting her that she might actually be interested in her and then when she actually acted on a sudden impulse, he acted all surprised and offended?
“He’s clearly just playing some sort of horrible, manipulative game. I don’t know what else I should have expected from a man.” No that was unfair to men, Silanos of Valaoritis was a special breed of idiot. He and his brother both. “Or what I should have expected from a Valaoritis.” Imeeya still hadn’t forgiven Tim for how he had treated her when she was only trying to help in the fire. Not only that but then he had to recount the whole tale for her mother and make her look like a complete idiot when she was only trying to do her best to help. But that also was not a topic she wished to discuss with Essa.

“Oh Meeya...” she said softly, pulling her sister into a one armed hug. She could sense the frustration that was practically rolling off of her. Her hand gently rubbed her shoulder, hoping it might help calm her a little further. After all, what she was currently sharing, while interesting, wasn’t doing much to offer any context or real information at all about what had happened.
Her eyes widened as she realized the implication of her sister’s words.
“What!?” The volume of her voice startled even her. She quickly lowered her voice to a shocked whisper. “You and Silanos... you two... you had sex?” she gasped. Her mind, of course, went to the most extreme option. After all, Imeeya was so upset, surely it must have been dramatic. What could be more dramatic than that? Besides, what else would Silanos want badly enough to beg for? She didn’t give her sister a chance to interject though, barreling ahead with questions.
“Did he spurn you, after the deed?” she asked quickly, trying to think what sort of horrible action he could have done to leave her so distressed. “How dare he use you in such a way. I don’t care if he is leaving for war! That’s beyond cruel! We cannot let this stand!”
As much as she was distressed for her sister, a tiny part of her reveled in how like a good book this was turning into.
“We have to come up with a plan. He cannot get away with this!”

It was nice to have a sister that was willing to take her side on something. She could see that Essa really cared about how Silanos had hurt her when she put her arm around her trying to comfort her. Or at least she had thought Essa had understood, right up until she had some sort of sudden realization. Imeeya pulled out of her sister’s hug in shock as her sister accused her of sleeping with Silanos. As if she’d do something like that! If she’d been any less in shock she might have wondered where Essa would even have gotten an idea like that. She was far too young to be thinking such things about men.
“What? No! It’s not that! I just kissed him!” How could her sister even imagine her capable of such a thing? She was bold enough to have kissed a man, how could Essa imagine she would just hop into bed with him? “I can’t believe you’d think I would do something like that. With Silanos? Really? I can’t understand why everyone seems so convinced that I must be sleeping with someone.” First, it was the pirate rumors, and now Essa seemed to think that she might be sleeping with Silanos. She hadn’t even been flirting with anyone. How on earth was everyone now convinced that it was possible that she might be sleeping with anyone, much less two different people?
“Please don’t try to come up with a revenge plan. Can we just forget it even happened? Please?” Clearly she had been the fool in this case, and she didn’t want to think about what had even happened any longer. It was embarrassing enough that she’d had to admit her mistake to Essa, she didn’t wish to make it some sort of continuing topic of conversation.

Relief flooded through her as Imeeya confessed it had been a kiss and nothing more. “Oh, thank the Gods,” she murmured as her free hand lifted to her heart. “Why do you think I was so shocked! It didn’t seem like you at all, but you said it’d been what he’d been begging you for, so that was all I could think of given what little I know of him. I’m sorry, Meeya,” she hastily explained, hanging her head in shame.
“I didn’t mean any offense, I swear it. You were just so upset... I assumed the worst.” Her lip wobbled slightly as she shyly glanced at her sister. “Please don’t be mad...”
Essa sighed heavily, afraid she had ended all chance of her sister actually confiding in her. Still, her mind turned back to the new information she had. Instead, she continued on without even acknowledging her sister’s plea to forget about it entirely. “I hadn’t realized you’d been spending much time with Silanos,” she mused thoughtfully.
“So, let me make sure I understand this correctly. He’s been flirting with you for awhile now, but when you kissed him, he called you insane?” It seemed like something was missing, but she couldn’t know what. Was it something that her sister wasn’t telling her, or something she didn’t even know?
“Maybe the timing was the issue. He is about to leave for war... maybe he is worried about not coming back and starting something he can’t finish?”

Imeeya sighed at Essa’s confession. “No, I’m not angry. Though I’d have thought you’d know me better than that.” She couldn’t be mad at Essa just for jumping to the absolutely worst conclusion. She’d only hoped that her reputation would have been enough to keep her younger sister from thinking of that. But perhaps her reputation really had been dragged through the dirt now, what with the rumors of a pirate lover. Still, she would have expected her sister to know better.
“Well, we haven’t exactly been spending time together. It’s just we keep running into each other.” Imeeya was reluctant to tell her sister about the circumstances of their previous meetings. The first meeting at the bar was a whole host of things that she never wanted anyone to know. Firstly, she had been in a seedy part of town entirely unescorted. The fact that she was looking for Chares hardly would have mattered to her mother. Then, she would have had to explain the context of why she had slapped Silanos. Asia’s kiss with the man was something that she did not want to have to explain to Essa. It was because it would be dangerous to Asia’s reputation for that to be spread around, she told herself, but if she was honest, it was something that she didn’t wish to think about. He had kissed her cousin without a second thought, and yet he had yelled at her for the same action. Then, of course, there was the matter that he had drugged her in that same interaction. While it had seemed like such a funny mistake at the time, her resentment over that action had only grown as she sobered.
Then there was the last time she had run into him before today. Silanos had decided to insult her about the pirate rumors right to her face outside the house. He always seemed to say exactly the wrong thing. And yet, she had kissed him, for some reason she still had yet to understand. If Essa thought she was angry with him, how could she possibly justify kissing him? Imeeya couldn’t explain it to herself, she wasn’t ready to explain to Essa how she had decided to kiss a man who she found so infuriating.
The last meeting of court. Now that interaction was one she could speak on, as long as she left out dousing him with wine. That would have required an explanation of why he had been so infuriating in the first place. “We ended up sitting together at the last court meeting. He tried to protect me when the doors were being broken down.” That was a good enough explanation. Was that why she had kissed him? He showed some semblance of bravery, even if he had to ruin it shortly thereafter by referring to their unfortunate run-in with the drugged wine.
Then Essa had to go and ruin it all by trying to excuse the man’s actions towards her. She could feel her temper rising again as she addressed Essa’s assumptions. “Are you really defending his behavior, Essa?” Imeeya was not yet ready to give Silanos any benefit of the doubt. She had done absolutely nothing that should have made him believe the way that he had. “If that was the issue, he could have just said so, and not insulted me. Leaving for war is absolutely no excuse.” The thought of Silanos going off to war did nothing to help improve Imeeya’s temper. He was going to leave and she had ruined everything between them with no hope of salvaging things. Not that she cared. She had nothing she wanted to say to the man if he wasn’t going to apologize to her first.

Essa winced slightly at her sister’s admission. She was glad that she hadn’t upset her, but she hated to think that she believed Essa thought poorly of her. “I didn’t truly believe it,” she said softly, hoping to soften it a little. “I never believed that ridiculous thing with the pirate after all. But for awhile, you were older, you had more important things to do than spend time with your kid sister. I don’t know you as well as I used to.” It was said kindly, without any hint of bitterness and just a small shrug. Essa couldn’t blame her sister for drifting away as she learned of court and politics and who knew what else. She confided in their cousin mostly, not the sister she likely still viewed as a child. It was a simply fact of life.
“Oh, that makes more sense,” she agreed with a nod. She couldn’t imagine Imeeya seeking the noble out. She didn’t know much of him, only that he seemed to usually be attached to Mihail’s side. Though he had always treated her kindly, which was more than she could say of his friend. But he definitely wasn’t the serious sort. Unlike her sister, who was if anything too serious.
It seemed to become more clear as she mentioned what had happened at court. “He did!?” she exclaimed before a knowing grin spread across her lips. She had read enough to know exactly what must of happened. “How very chivalrous of him. No wonder you felt endeared to him.” She giggled a little as she imagined her sister swooning over a man defending her. Who would have thought?
“I didn’t!” she exclaimed in surprise as her sister’s temper flared defensively. “I’m agreeing with you, that doesn’t make sense. So I’m trying to figure it out. That’s hardly defending him. It’s no different than when you try to guess at why someone is voting one way or another. It’s important to at least have an educated guess, right?” Clearly Imeeya was still too upset to approach this any other way. Essa pursed her lips as she tried to figure out what to do next. She still thought there was more to the story her sister wasn’t sharing, but it seemed she wasn’t meant to know whatever it was. Not tonight at least.
“No, you’re right. There’s no excuse at all. I’m sorry, Meeya. I was just trying to make it a little less confusing somehow. I didn’t meant to upset you...” She paused a moment longer before adding. “I mean, men can be pretty stupid though. Especially when it comes to romance. You see it all the time.” Well, in books. But those had to be at least a little based on reality, right?
"Are you going to confront him before he leaves? You could demand an answer. You deserve one."

It was a relief to hear that Essa had not taken the rumors of a pirate lover seriously, nor had she seriously considered that she would have slept with Silanos. Had she not been so preoccupied with her anger and disappointment over what had happened when she kissed Silanos, she might have regretted that she and Essa had grown apart as she had entered into adulthood, while Essa remained firmly a child in her mind. But that was not a conversation that Imeeya could have while her anger was still directed at the man who had rejected her.
At least Essa seemed to understand how she could have kissed Silanos. That was good, because she still wasn’t sure she understood how it happened herself. One moment he was angry at her for admitting that she didn’t want him to die, and the next thing she knew her lips were touching his. It made no sense. The only thing worse than that was just how unhappy the man had seemed that it had happened at all.
Imeeya was a bit surprised that Essa met her temper when she accused her of defending Silanos. It made her own anger stop it its tracks. Of course Essa, as sweet as she was had to back off of that stance immediately, but it had done its job. Imeeya’s anger was diffused, and she let Essa continue with her explanation. She snorted when Essa said that men were known to be stupid. “Well Lord Silanos has never been one to make particularly smart decisions,” Imeeya admitted. It was somewhat reassuring to know that perhaps it was a failure with men as a whole as opposed to something wrong with her that would cause Silanos to reject her so vehemently.
“What would I do Essa? Show up at the barracks in the middle of the night? They leave in the morning.” It all seemed hopeless, especially because she “Besides, I can only imagine what it would do to my reputation to have a shouting match with the idiot in front of all those soldiers. Mom would have my head.” Imeeya quickly squashed any idea that it might be possible to confront the man. Nothing good would come of that, especially because what she wanted to do most at that moment was strangle that smug smirk he often wore right off his face. Besides, he had claimed he was going to go out and get spectacularly drunk tonight, so what were the chances she’d even be able to find him.
Imeeya collapsed back on the bed with a groan. “What’s wrong with me, Essa? How on earth could Lord Silanos of Valaoritis of all people have gotten me so angry? He’s an irresponsible idiot and he doesn’t deserve another second of my time.” It was mostly a rhetorical question, though if Essa had some sort of answer that she had managed to overlook she wouldn’t have been averse to hearing it. She would take advice from anyone if it meant she didn’t have to feel this way anymore.
