He’d missed the fucking window again, the pebble bouncing uselessly off the stone. It was the third attempt, the first had ricochet back and nearly taken out his eye, the second had flown past the building entirely. Something was off with his aim, or whatever. Silanos bent down to pick up another handful of pebbles, wobbled slightly and then stood upright again. Slightly rumpled in a dark coloured chiton with his hair falling over his face, the young man was clearly intoxicated, his movements a little uncoordinated, not that it seemed to be dissuading him from trying again. Perseverance was key, Sil thought. Carefully, he took aim once more, let the projectile fly, and this time it skittered off the shutters before clattering to the ground.
Surely that would wake Nana? Sil looked around to make sure it hadn’t woken anyone else, the manor and ground were huge and if they had dogs or guards then he’d be screwed. He figured he had a clear enough run to the gate if he needed it and he was fast, over short distances. It’d be fine.
He hadn’t seen the Leventi girl since...well since that night, and Silanos felt the need to redeem himself somehow. He wasn’t entirely sure he remembered how it had ended but sometimes he got little flashes that made him wonder if...Anyway, what he wanted to do was wake the girl and either have her invite him in - which might be difficult because that window looked fucking high - or coax her down. They could walk in the gardens or some shit. Girls liked that romantic stuff. And then they could talk and he could casually mention that he hadn’t seen her around and maybe they could have a do-over where he might actually remember stuff.
Silanos had decided on this course of action as he had wandered in a zig-zag fashion back towards his own lodgings. And when he’d decided, it had only taken a coin to the peasant for them to point the lord in the direction of the Leventi manor, and that was about as much as plan as Sil had arrived with.
He levelled another missile at the shutters, missed and cursed under his breath. Why was this so hard? Who even closed the shutters? It was fucking hot. If it wasn’t the middle of the night he could have gone to the door like a civilised person, but somehow he doubted the staff would find it favourable if he were to do that now. The thought made him snort, and he had to pause in his efforts to stifle his laughter, putting out a hand to brace himself again the wall.
No, he needed to FOCUS. Nana.
Blinking, the young man stood upright once more and took a couple of steps backward this time, so he was standing in the flower beds that had been so carefully placed to showcase the manor from its best angle. He drew back his arm to launch another stone.

The night was too warm and the air too still; the ocean breeze that usually reprieved the inhabitants of Taengea, strikingly absent. It was for this reason (alongside her sudden rise of boredom) that Eirini had departed from the intimate party she had been attending early. The guest list had been a small collection of people that Eirini herself had suggested to the hostess –– even so, the stifling heat and apparent sullen mood of those in attendance had made the evening remarkably lacklustre.
As the carriage arrived to take her home, the matriarch of the Leventi family inwardly grimaced at the thought of stepping foot inside the enclosed space, yet did so anyway and was quickly joined by the maid who had accompanied her that evening. The handheld fan within her grasp was little relief, merely wafting hot air upon features and so as the carriage rounded the familiar corner to the road that would take them up to the manor, Eirini called for the driver to stop.
Small pearls of perspiration beaded upon the back of her neck, the thickness of her dark curls as burdensome in the heat as they were enticing –– she should have taken the advice of her ladies maid and pinned it up for the evening ( not that she would ever admit to such things. )
Although the night being was warm, it was a great deal more tolerable than the carriage had been and so Eirini did not mind the short walk back to the cooling walls of the manor. The ladies and the driver parted ways, the clip-clop of hooves echoing into the distance as the driver steered the steeds and carriage towards the stables. With her lady trailing closely behind her, Eirini held the crimson train of her chiton in the crook of her arm as they walked along the path.
Despite the walk being short, Eirini felt relieved as the imposing Manor House emerged in her line of sight. With her husband out for the evening, she would have some time to herself and she planned to spend the remainder of the evening in the refreshing waters of the plunge pool, sipping wine. It was that pleasant thought in mind that Eirini approached her home…
…Thunk
The noise startled her a little, stopping her in her tracks and soon enough the showering of small stones distinctly penetrated the otherwise still and quiet evening –– .he saw the source of the racket then.
With a furrowed brow, Eirini’s dark hues settled upon a young man beneath one of her widows, clearly intoxicated by the way he swayed and stumbled and not to mention by the terrible inaccuracy of his aim. Her lady approached her side, “allow me to fetch the guards, mistress.” Eirini held up a hand to silence her and watched as he trod in her flowerbeds and raised his hand to throw another stone… “I do not appreciate you treading all over my hyacinths..” Her voice sounded firm. “…nor you throwing stones at my house, young man. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't call for the guards? ”

Silanos was squinting up at the still very shut shutters above him, wondering how the fuck Nana hadn’t woken up yet. There was playing hard to get and then there was just being ridiculous and he scowled as he looked back down at his feet to try and locate more pebbles. He was entirely oblivious to the arrival of the lady of the house and her attendant, and so when the voice sounded from the darkness, Sil reeled back in surprise, and it was certainly the small shrub that had him lose his balance and fall sprawling into the flower beds and not the copious amounts of wine that had fuelled this rather misguided midnight adventure.
“Fuck! Ow” came the muttered exclamations from beyond the bush until the young lord managed to right himself and got to his feet, brushing some of the detritus off him as he went. There was some further muttering that sounded an awful lot like ‘shouldn't fucking sneak up on people like that’ before the intruder focused on his assailant and what had been said. He shuffled sheepishly off the flowerbed before focusing - or at least attempting to focus- on the older woman.
“I was just…” he waved a haphazard arm at the window. “Looking for Lady Nana. It was a guard that pointed me to the right house. Or I don’t know..he looked like a guard. Big guy. Like..muscles.” Silanos blinked and seemed to realise he’d gone off on a tangent. “I’m..is she here? Lady Nana. See last time I saw her there was this mix-up, and I just really need to set things straight you know? I don’t know what she thinks but it wasn’t…”
The young lord’s voice trailed off as he blinked, clearly deciding something about that line of conversation displeased him and he sighed and pushed a hand through his hair. “She must sleep like the fucking dead or something”
Picking a twig off his sleeve, he wobbled a little. “Did I wake you up? That would be ironic wouldn't it?” The young man laughed quietly and then dipped into an unsteady bow. “Slanos. At your service. Fully serviceable and fit for servicing”
That seemed to amuse him again and he broke into a fit of what might be most accurately be termed giggles that faded into a dismayed sort of sigh. It was then that he seemed to finally catch on to the disapproving stare of the maid and the implied threat that might have been behind that original address that had startled him so.
“...your house?” he observed faintly, looking properly at the dark-haired woman chewing on his cheek. “ That would make you...Levent... Lady Leventi. Lady Nana’s esteemed mother. I assure you my intentions are honourable. Indeed it is a matter of honour. Most important.” He seemed to forget he bowed already and did it again.

Eirini waited for an answer as he stumbled, flailed and swore; any amusement she may have felt (and it was present) was muted by the impatient tapping of her foot and critical arch of her brow. Clearly inebriated to staggering extents, Eirini started to suspect that an explanation was just wishful thinking and as he swayed in his spot, she had half a mind just to call the guards and have done with it. Of course, when he did open his mouth to speak (even if he did go off on a tangent) her curiosity did peak at the mention of her niece.
What an interesting development…
The tapping of her foot stilled and her expression softened as she listened, seemingly sympathetic to his cause. She let him prattle on, asking question after question and if he had even left her enough time to mutter a reply, she likely wouldn’t have interrupted his incriminating tirade – a little trick she’s learned from her husband.
As he asked her whether or not she was Nana’s ‘esteemed mother’, Eirini let out a small laugh of amusement; at that and his multiple bows. “Gods above, no – though I am flattered and Lady Leventi, I am not that one.” Taking a step forward, Eirini placed her hands upon his arms, almost a gesture of maternalism to steady him. “I am Lady Eirini of Leventi, my husband is the head of this family and I must say, you are fortunate that it was not he who stumbled upon you.” Not that he wouldn’t find out about this little rendezvous anyway, she did tell the man everything.
“I do sympathise to your plight, my dear, but I cannot possibly send you in the direction of my niece in your current state.” Gazing up at him, she plucked a leaf from his hair, “nor do I think she would find it very honourable of you to present yourself like this.” Lips pressed into a line, Eirini gave the impression that she was deep in thought. “Why don’t you come with me, let me sober you up and come the morning, I shall escort you to the Lady Nana myself.”
Slipping her arm through his, Eirini gave him little choice in the matter as they started moving towards the grand manor. Though she would ensure his safety that night, it was not a gesture of goodwill or concern regarding her niece's perception – something had happened between the pair and Eirini would endeavour to discover what exactly had happened. After all, the Leventi name and reputation needed to be protected at all costs.
Through the threshold and up the stairs, she leads the young man up towards her private rooms, the ones adjacent to the bed chamber she shared with Fotios. “Bring us some cool water, a basin and some food.” She directed to her maid who quickly scurried off to see to her mistresses demands.
Leading Silanos over to a chaise, she helped him down onto it before offering him a small smile, “your gesture might have been romantic had you not been so intoxicated… but tell me, why the need at all? What could a charming and handsome man like yourself possibly have done to earn Lady Nana’s ire?”

The young man frowned in confusion. Not that one? “But I thought this was..” he twisted to look at the manor house, only to turn back again when the woman settled her hands upon his arms. All the movement made his head spin a little and he had to blink a few times to stop the woman’s face from being two faces. Oh there she was.
‘I am Lady Eirini of Leventi, my husband is the head of this family and I must say, you are fortunate that it was not he who stumbled upon you’
That caught his attention, and Silanos gaped at the older woman, who was, now he was paying attention, pretty godsdamned spectacular looking. Huh. “Is it..not?” he was muddled now about where the fuck he’d ended up. How many of these Leventis were there? He was still trying to figure out when the Lady Eirini continued talking, reaching up to pull something out of his hair and talking to him soothingly like he was...
Fucking drunk. Which he was, he realised belatedly. “Right yeah” he agreed because what she was saying seemed vaguely to make sense and she was so..like old but hot. He moved when she moved, a little bit unsteady in his course. “I can just escort myself..” he began, looking at the gates just once before he seemed to surrender any idea of protesting and just shambled along beside her.
It took a lot of concentration to master the steps that led up the door, with Sil muttering a ‘shit’ as he nearly toppled right off the curved edge of one, saving himself with a hand thrown out to brace himself on the doorframe. “M’ sorry if I woke you up,” he said to his unexpected benefactor. “I was looking for Lady Nana” Because he’d forgotten they'd covered that ground already and it seemed of import. But then he was distracted taking in the inside of the vast manor house and trying to remember where they were going and why.
Deposited unceremoniously on a kline, the young lord sprawled over it exactly as he landed, save for the arm thrown up over his face. The room was definitely spinning. He fucking hated that. Looking somewhat blearily up at the Lady Eirini he frowned at her words’
‘“your gesture might have been romantic had you not been so intoxicated… but tell me, why the need at all? What could a charming and handsome man like yourself possibly have done to earn Lady Nana’s ire?”
Right. Nana.
“Not..ire,” he said dejected, pushing himself up onto his elbows. “I just need to clear a few” he broke off, interrupted by a sudden hiccup “ We...there might have been a misundre. Misunre..fuck,. Misunderstanding. Is all” There was a stubborn lock of hair that kept falling over his face and he pushed it away clumsily, staring at Eirini from some very blue if slightly unfocused eyes. “I don’t really remember all too much. But..fuck.” Again with that stupid bit of hair in his face “ It might have been bad. And I’m not bad! I know my skillsets you know?!”
