Wipe down the benches. Not a difficult task. Dawn should be finished with it in no time! Just a swishy of the rag here, and a brushy of the rag there. Turn around and- CRACK, She froze and her eyes shut tight. What just happened? Dare she look. She slowly opened one eye to see the bench, the bush, slight glance to the right...statue of Adonis missing his middle finger.
"Oh no...Oh no! Not again! Uh..uh..." She tried to calm down. She tried to just breathe; take a breath. She could handle this. She could totally handle this. She just had to find the finger. She bent over looking around for it, and incidentally getting an up close and personal with the statue's lower appendage. She frowned, It looked kind of small and sort of like a fat finger. She went to touch it and then at hearing a noise jumped and CRACK. She stared down at her hand there she held the crown jewels, of Adonis, in stone.
She bit her bottom lip and then quickly went around to trying to reattach the johnson to Mr. Greek Johnson while digging around in the bush for the finger. Where was it? It couldn't have fallen too far, the bush wasn't that deep!

Persephone had been walking with a member of the Marikas House all morning. Lady Sera - who liked to stretch her legs and refused to sit still for long periods of time and had therefore suggested a garden walk - had come to visit her over a few matters regarding a particular barony family in her lands. They had apparently taken an interest in one of Sera's daughters and yet she did not wish to either marry them off to him, nor offend the man in principle. She had come to ask Persephone whether she had heard of an alternative family looking to consider marriage for their own female offspring.
After a careful conversation in which Persephone had mentioned the Nikolaos' desire to marry off a newly returned Lady Thalia, the Lady Sera had seemed pleased at the suggestion; believing that the reputation of the Nikolaos House would sway the baron in question away from her own daughters after a polite redirection of his affections.
With this settled, the Lady Sera had departed on good terms with the princess and Persephone had considered it a successful meeting all round, as she now had an even better relationship with the Marikas matriarch than she had yesterday. After all - any piece of good faith would help at this point.
Sighing internally, Persephone blinked, get herself a mental shake and set about heading back inside, to continue with the rest of her responsibilities for the day.
It was as she was as she was moving through the rose garden that she heard a muttering. It sounded like a distressed female voice but it could have also been any number of things that her ears were tricking her to believe was otherwise...
Persephone paused for a moment but, upon hearing nothing further, continued walking back towards the main terrace of the palace, content that she was safe. Guards wandered the guards on regular shifts and in irregular patterns, ensuring a watchful eye at all times. She had no cause to be concerned for her safety within her own home.
It was when a cracking sound could be heard from the other side of the bush row she was walking alongside, that Persephone decided there was definitely something going on and so moved around its end.
Looking down the exposed pathway, Persephone spied a serving girl - one of Emilia's she recalled - scrambling around on the floor like an animal, grumbling and mumbling to herself, her head submerged in a rose bush.
"What exactly are you doing?" Persephone asked the girl, her tone firm but confused.

Dawn jumped at the voice and quickly arose to the voice swiveling around so fast she nearly toppled over. For once though she caught herself with a step or two. Her cheeks turned a light red and she swallowed hard at who it was. This was not good. Not good at all.
"Um I was swishing and uh brushing with the um..." She held up her hand which she happened to hold the stone phallus, realizing this she quickly switched hands raising the one with the rag. Her cheeks flushed deeply. "And...it broke off, they, I mean the finger too. I mean, not the rag." She switched raised hands or at least tried. It turned out both hands went up in the air. Perhaps this was the best position for her.
"I'm sorry my Lady I, I...I didn't mean to it was an accident I swear..." It came out as mumbled utterances as she quickly dissolved within herself in hopes of escaping what was going on around her. Her eyes adverted from the woman, her shoulders sagged. She was after all just a pitiful slave.
Oh why couldn't she do anything right? Tears began to well up in her eyes though she suppressed the sniffles. She still had no idea how she was going to repair the statue, or where the finger was. For a moment her head moved looking back to the bush. There was the finger peaking out just beyond the shrubbery. "Uhm..." She moved her foot so as to maybe get it slightly out from under the bush, nudging it with her toe, all while still standing there with her hands in the air, her upper half in itself statuesque.

Having completed her prayers for the week in the shrine of the Gods within the palace, Emilia had wandered back into the library, intending to swap the book she had just finished with a new one. She had instructed her servants and slaves to leave her be for the day, for Emilia had not intended to go to anywhere out of the castle for the day. Not needing the attendance of her retinue when she was within the castle, the princess had relieved them and allowed them to handle their other tasks as she spent the afternoon in prayer for her sister and father.
With her peach and white chiton around her ankles as she stood up, the girl fetched her book from the rooms, before heading to the library, where she spent a good half an hour browsing before finally deciding on the works of one of her favorite authors, Epistle.
Holding the maroon, leather bound book under her arm, Emilia headed towards the gardens, intending to settle and enjoy the summer sun with her book, to soak up as much of the heat as she could before the seasons changed again. She had tied her hair up with a leather band, and the brunette curls were in a tail on the top of her head, leaving her shoulders bare.
Taking a deep breathe as she entered the rose garden, Emilia was just about to take a seat on one of the many stone benches, when she heard her sister's voice, catching her by surprise. Was Persephone not busy with a meeting with some noble or the other? That was as far as her sister had told her the morning when they had shared their morning repast before parting for their daily activties. What was she doing here?
And then another voice caught her attention. Dawn?
Tucking the book back under her arm, she picked up the chiton she had on and quickly hurried over to the source of the voices, just in time to see her female slave in her stammering apologies to her elder sister. Only then, did Emilia realized the broken phallus and finger from the now suspiciously lacking statue that was next to Dawn.
Oh, she knew her slave was clumsy. Helen often complained, but the young lady meant well, even if her actions did not always translate her heart's desires well. At the most, Emilia could trust Dawn to always have her best interests in heart, and that was why she kept the slave close to her, despite her clumsy actions. "Sissy, I'm sure Dawn didn't mean it." she jumped in, hurrying over to stand in between Persephone and Dawn, facing the elder princess with a sheepish smile. "I'm sure our... our stonemasons can fix it right? It is... er, well. Isn't too ... bad?" Emilia finished, a little skepticism entering her final tone as her gaze flickered to the fingerless and phallus-less statue, and then to the items held in Dawn's hands.

Persephone held it together for as long as she could. She really did. First there was the quick realisation of what had actually happened. The idea that the slave girl had broken off the finger of the harp-playing Apollo was bad enough but when the small creature raised a hand to indicate that she had also succeeded in breaking off the Gods manhood, Persephone could only blink. Next came the girl's attempts at apologising, hands waving up and down, alternately and then together like she was attempting to direct traffic. Her rag flew about like a signal sheet and very nearly caught the head of the statue (which, on her next downward swing, would have likely toppled the statue over entirely) which the girl didn't seem to notice.
The follow up to this comedic act was her young sister, the Princess of Athenia, desperately trying to insist that the statue was fixable despite isn't missing... appendages.
As the three of them stood there, the younger two looking doomed upon facing the elder princess's wrath (was she really that scary?), Persephone couldn't help but play the part...
"Are you suggesting to me..." She began, her tone dark, "That I should send the statue to our stonemason with a note attached claiming that our slave girl got too excited and somehow castrated the great God Apollo?" She asked, her tone beginning stormy but by the end unable to maintain its severity.
Because, by then, Persephone had already gotten the giggles.
It was a childish notion and one that she hadn't felt in a long time, but a chuckle bloomed in her chest and she started to laugh quietly. The entire situation was so ridiculous...

"A-Apollo?" She stammered, "No no this is..." Dawn swiftly turned to see the carved features of, "Apollo!" Her eyes widened. Her jaw slackened. Her legs trembled before giving way beneath her form and she crumbled as if she were a statue herself. "No no no!" She said as she tried to fix this predicament she was in ever so frantically. So much so that she had set down the phallus to pick up the finger, and failed on multiple attempts to fit it where his penis should be. Furthermore, due to her hysteria, she could not seem to comprehend why it was not working. "No no, you have to stay...you have to, you have to stick!" At least the finger would give him a bit more length?
Tears trailed from her eyes as she tried fruitlessly to fix the God of the Sun, Healing, Truth, Prophecy and....PLAGUE! "Oh no! No NO! NO!" All of Athenia was going to rot and die because she a lowly, stupid, clumsy slave girl had taken his penis!
"I...I...I disfigured a-a God...The sun will never shine on me again...I'll be struck down for-- for sure...darkness will befall us!" Her utterances dissolved into mutterances as tears clouded over her expression giving those around her not the foggiest idea of what she was saying. Persephone's laughter seemed distant and beyond comprehension as her mind reeled with the misfortune which had fallen upon her. Emilia's words in regards to having a stone mason fix it, were drowned out.
She was now in a ball, a sobbing mess before the statue's feet, and without a clue as to how to fix it. She was a slave. She could neither afford to pay the Priests of Apollo to make an offering for her, nor could she pay to have the statue itself fixed. She wasn't talented in music or poetry, and well she was far too distraught to recall whether or not she had any knowledge in the way of healing, which she did.

For a moment, Emilia had been genuinely afraid that Persephone would be unhappy with Dawn, and in turn with her for trying to defend her slave. Dawn had been with her for a good eight years now, enough time for Emilia to be quite partial to the young slave, clumsy as she may be. But she had seen the growth, and so long as she was not disturbed or anxious, Dawn performed fine!
Biting her lip when Persephone's was dark, the young princess immediately had a thousand arguments in her head. She did not often argue with Persephone at all, loving her sister too much to cause her distress. But she could not allow Dawn to just be... well, she didn't mean it!
So when the dark tone dissolved to mirth, it was a sigh of relief that released all the tension from Emilia's body, before she giggled along with her sister. Now that the heir to the throne was laughing, Emilia could now see the hilarity in the situation, especially when she turned to look at the statue of Apollo, standing just between her sister and Dawn.
Her eyes widened at Dawn's tears, and Emilia quickly rushed forward to pick up the girl from the feet of the statue, urging Dawn to sit on a nearby stone bench as she picked up the broken off finger and phallus. For a brief second, Emilia froze, unsure of what she would do with the item (considering she was entirely unfamiliar with that particular limb). Gingerly placing it back at the foot of the statue, she turned and rushed over to Dawn's side, and sat down.
"Tis alright, we'll get the stonemasons to fix it, right Sissy?" she looked up at Persephone and gave a pointed glare, motioning at the sobbing slave asking for assistance.

For a moment, Emilia had been genuinely afraid that Persephone would be unhappy with Dawn, and in turn with her for trying to defend her slave. Persephone's giggles diminished as the slave girl clearly panicked and headed on a downward spiral of guilt and shame. When Emilia stepped forward the comfort the girl, Persephone's royal temptation was to tell her not to openly give compassion to one of such low rank but, with a quick glance about them, Persephone noted that they were alone and therefore allowed her personal ideals (of kindness over propriety) to overrule her.
"I doubt we could get it fixed." Persephone commented, despite Emilia's pointed gaze towards the blubbering girl. "Even the finest stonemasons would not be able to hide that it's been damaged." She shook her head. "I will have a new statue commissioned." She said aloud as she planned. "Statues suffer wear and tear over time. I shall simply have a new one created that is fit of the God's greatness. I'm sure he shall be pleased with a newer and more elegant piece."
"Emilia perhaps you would see fit to attend the Naos in the next few days..." Persephone commented, her eyes dipping to Dawn in the same way her sister's had to her. "You might wish to take a slave with you and present a gift to Apollo... I shall have a basket of the finest fruits prepared from our gardens..."

Dawn's eyes only lifted from the earthen floor when Emilia sat at the bench. An apology that filled her blood and racked her bones reflected from the depths of her dark brown eyes. She had heard the stories of the Gods as a child. She had seen both their blessings and their wrath pass through the world over the years. She never wished for such on those she cared for.
Still Emilia, though younger, and perhaps more naive, seemed calm, and the slave took refuge in her gentle voice. Her sobs eased into sniffles, and she finally gave a bit of a nod as he lent an ear to ideas of appeasement to the Great Apollo.
Persephone spoke, new sobs were almost renewed at first but were caught in her throat as with poise and grace her Ladyship spoke. She gave a bit of a hiccup and then nodded. A new statue sounded like a good enough idea to her. After all royalty, though not clergy, surely knew more of the divine than she, as well as how to subdue their wrath. "You will surely lead Athenia to greatness some day." She said in all earnest. She was not one to suck up per say, but she did in general have a sweet nature. "Thank you, I--I will be more careful from now on." Or try. Try really really hard. Alright, chances are she would fail, but Alpha for effort right?
Her gaze then looked to the pieces. The middle finger and the phallus. A nervous giggle was emitted as she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Perhaps it was a bit funny now that their future was no longer in imminent danger. "What shal come of the old, dear Ladies?"

At her sister's suggestion, Emilia nodded earnestly, wanting nothing more then to stop the tears that came from the slave. While the princess herself was an emotional little thing, she was at a loss of how to handle the emotions of others when it was at such a high scale. In her years of being with Dawn, Emilia also knew that Dawn felt everything at a high degree, and she did not want to prolong her distress.
"See Dawn, tisn't so bad. The princess will comission a new one, and the gods will be happy to have a new, beautiful piece in his name." Emilia reassured in what she hoped was her most calming voice, patting Dawn's shoulder. Looking up, she nodded in agreement to her sister's solution, already making a mental note of what to bring and when to go. She would have time in the next few days, so she'll inform Nicholai so her bodyguard would have the time to escort them.
Straightening up from the seat once it seems as if Dawn had regained her composure, Emilia was quick to straighten her spine again in accordance to the poise and grace her sister always reminded her to have due to her status and position. However, she did permit a small smile when her slave made a small joke. She shook her head wryly, amused at the clumsiness of her slave... although her sister would probably disagree, in all honesty. "The material will suffer wear and tear, so don't you worry Dawn." Picking up the book she had dropped to the ground in her haste to reach her slave, the princess dusted the covers off, and addressed the other again, "Dawn, would you please run to Nicholai and inform him we will be heading to the Naos two days hence, at daybreak. He will arrange our retinue."
Waving at Dawn for her to go on her tasks, the young princess waited till she was out of earshot, before turning to Persephone with an apologetic look. "I usually keep her by my side, because she's a little... unsure of herself, sometimes." Emilia winced. "I'll keep an eye on her from now. She's fine as long as she's not nervous." God knows, Emilia thought she would probably break enough to cost the royal family a fortune one day, so the young one was attempting to prevent that for now.

Dawn gave an apologetic smile to both Princesses thought her eyes quickly lowered as she listened to Emilia ever so sweetly stick up for her. Still, she had never been so happy to receive a command. She gave a nod rising to her feet. A bow to each before she moved out of the Garden. She neither moved with haste nor dragged her steps. Fear of breaking something kept her from doing the first, fear of hearing what she was not meant to kept her from the later.

Persephone narrowed her eyes once the girl was out of sight and earshot and then turned to consider Emilia's words.
"I understand your desire to show kindness and commend it, Emilia." She told the girl. "But also hear in mind that your retinue is a reflection of yourself." She told her younger sister, watching the maid she was so fond off run off through the bushes. "A broken statue, pot or plate is not a disaster... Such a thing occurring in front of royal dignitaries or something happening that could injure an important guest? Such things are not so easily recoverable from." She warned. "I would watch her carefully and be sure that your personal feelings for the girl do not override the better choice that is befitting your station."
Persephone reached out to put a hand on Emilia's shoulder to indicate that her words were meant to be kind over harsh and her sad smile told Emilia that she clearly wished not to be giving such advice.
But give it she had to.

The younger one gave a sigh, her shoulders drooping. She recognized her sister's words and wisdom, don't get her wrong. While she may not be as well versed in the depths of political necessities and manners as Persephone, Emilia had watched and learned over many years from her sister.
"I understand, sissy." she responded, laying a hand over Persephone's one that she had gently on her shoulder. Giving it a squeeze before letting her hand drop, Emilia brightened up with a smile. "I'll ask Helen to watch over her more... and I will keep her away from breakables."
A glimmer of laughter shone in her eyes at her last words, before Emilia reached up with her tippy toes to press a kiss to her sister's cheek, and proceeded to run off back to her rooms again, eager to get engrossed in her new book.
