Celine had taken a couple of days to think over the idea formulating in her head, and finally at least a little bit of a plan had begun to come together. The next time she saw Essa would be a wonderful opportunity to bring up the subject. On the evening of the next banquet, before everyone ate, she noticed people milling around and went to find Essa. Perhaps there would be a relatively quiet corner of the courtroom where they could talk, though she knew they could not possibly remain secluded for long.
"My lady, is there some place where we might speak a little more privately? I have an idea I believe may help us both when I go home in a few days...and I think you know that we both like to read," Celine whispered.
In some ways, for both of them, it no doubt protected both their sense of well-being as well as preventing them from becoming boring, silly court fixtures who often fixated on gossip and couldn't- or wouldn't- be bothered to expand their horizons. While Celine was prone to showing the kind of literature she truly loved only to her best friends, Essa was fast becoming a friend as well. Celine had to admit she would enjoy having someone to laugh with. People were so serious at court, and while the fire in her childhood had changed Celine's personality, she hoped she wasn't so serious and wary as to become stiff like some people were! For all their education as far as etiquette went, Celine had met many people who, if they had one at all, seemed to have checked their personalities at the courtroom doors. That being so, Celine had come to find over the years that court was awkward for her due to her lack of nobility, tense because of what she felt was a need to dispel any possible rumors, and seemed ridiculous overall.
