If Phaedra had been under the impression that Silanos had been learning some sort of lesson from their interaction, she quickly realized that she had been mistaken. Sure she had been needling him a bit, but what did he expect? This was a military unit, whatever discomfort he felt at being ordered around by a woman was nothing compared to what he would experience on the battlefield. He had to respond to orders and show respect to his superior officers even in his most miserable experiences.
Since he asked the question, Phaedra could think of a handful of things that, had he been a normal soldier, he would have deserved punishment for. Insubordination at the very least. Still, as a noble, she supposed he wasn’t used to having to suffer any real consequences Likely if she reported him to his superior officer, he would get little more than a slap on the wrist, though given Silanos’s propensity to complain about every little thing he’d probably think that was the worst thing that had ever happened to him.
If it was just him being a whiny jerk, she probably would have dropped it. Let it go with just a threat to try to get him to fall into line, but to her as if she was the stupid one in this situation, and to insult Zosime. That was the last straw. Phaedra’s jaw clenched resisting the urge to backhand him right there. No, it was only her experience that had taught her that acting on her first angry instinct spelled disaster that kept Phaedra from violence right then and there.
Apparently, no such thoughts restrained Zosi, and Phaedra couldn’t help but grin as she saw Silanos suddenly and efficiently sprawled on his ass. Good girl Zosi. What she wouldn’t have given to be the person who had done that instead. However, she knew that with her rank she had to be seen as someone professional and fair. Sometimes being in charge sucked.
Phaedra tried to force her face into one that expressed some level of disapproval of what Zosi had just done or at the very least a more neutral expression. “Zosime, that’s enough,” Phaedra said sternly. Zosi had not been there when the man had almost introduced himself as a lord, so she didn’t know that she was playing with fire by assaulting him. She had no desire to see her second in jail or worse when this man decided that he was done playing soldier.
She turned her eyes to the man, the anger simmering just behind her eyes. “I think you’d better go.” Or else she was going to be the one to hit him next, and that was not the sort of trouble she was looking to get into right now. As much as she would love to get her revenge on him, at the moment, the only thing she wanted was for him to be out of her sight.

What.The.Fuck.
Sil almost bit his tongue off when he suddenly found himself sprawled on his back on the sand. The air was knocked from his lungs in a whoosh, and he’d barely managed to shove the straw dummy away when the younger of the two women was on him, and not in a good way. He was still a little stunned, blinking up at the darkening sky, so when her hand fisted in the tunic he wore, Sil didn’t react outside a half-hearted attempt to push the grip away.
‘You want to get smart with me, boy? Shall I teach you a lesson in humility? You’d better learn how to hide your disrespect better, or you’ll be eating a lot more than sand.’
His expression was comedic at the threat, caught somewhere between incredulity, annoyance and concern. (His face, after all, was a useful asset) and Sil struggled a little, angry but with some part of him thinking what a wasted scenario this was.
If she wanted to straddle him some other time and be a bit less aggro about it? Well maybe, but right now she wasn’t endearing herself to him. And disrespect? He couldn’t wrap his head around the hierarchy here, a little less than used to be being the bottom of the heap, literally, as at this precise moment.
“Get off me you fucking lunatic” he muttered, glancing up at Phaedra to see if she was going to rein in her dog or just let this continue. God, he fucking hated soldiers and their dumb-fuck pecking order.
Still, he didn’t have anything smart-mouthed to say in response as Zosime got to her feet, rolling off and up to his own feet with as much dignity as he could muster, which wasn’t a lot, to be honest. He dusted himself down and shot a dirty look at the straw dummy who was clearly at fault in this.
‘I think you’d better go.’
That earned Phaedra a disbelieving look because wasn’t that what he’d been trying to do, but as Silanos glanced between the two archers, he bit down on saying anything along those lines. Instead, he gave a nod and snatched the dummy up from where it had spilt more of its guts on the sand, making more work for him.
“It would be my pleasure” he muttered almost inaudibly, dusting himself off before he offered a begrudging nod and the earlier requested “Yes Ma’am”. Safe to say his curiosity about female archer units had been well and truly sated, and now all he wanted to do was get away from these two shrews and hope he never had the misfortune to cross paths with them again.
Not giving the blonde time to change her mind, Silanos spared a glance for Zosime in which he did his best to disguise his irritation, one final nod and then made himself scarce. They could go both go choke on a dick as far as he was concerned.

Zosime loved watching men squirm.
Unfortunately for her, since her vow of celibacy had been renewed about a year and a half ago -- the only way for her to do that was with physical dominance. So there was no denying the rush that she felt in knocking the spoiled brat down a peg or two. He truly was in over his head with a woman like her, someone who completely ignored the fairer points of her sex. Aggressive, domineering. She was a hell of a combination which was probably why she was best dealt with in small doses, why she had no patience for the constraints of being in command herself. Let Phaedra handle all the sensible matters, the politics and diplomacy. Let Zosi be the blade.
“Get off me you fucking lunatic” He said, but she didn’t move. Her blue eyes danced with amusement, as she lifted her chin as though he was beneath her. Which...technically he was. She looked at him like he’d said something particularly amusing, a vicious smile spreading over her features. Lunatic. Bitch. Whore. Crazy. She loved little pet names. She’d not always been those things, hell -- she’d even been somewhat normal once. Grief and trauma did strange things to a woman. She’d hardened on the inside, the softer parts of her cut out and tossed aside like trash.
“Zosime, that’s enough,”
Phaedra’s voice was like water dousing flame, and the soldier straightened her training attire as if nothing had happened. A few of the dark curls had fallen from her hair, hanging loose around her face. She blew one, sending it flying as she got to her feet. She had hoped that she might be met with a little bit more than venomous words, disappointment flickering across her features as the male got to his feet. He gathered himself and his dummy too, offering the appropriate pleasantries before hurrying along.
When he made the point to look at her again, Zosi showed her teeth. They clicked together menacingly as she turned back to Phaedra. As he retreated, she laughed. Phaedra was all too accustomed to Zosi’s impulsive and unpredictable nature.
”Bet he won’t make that mistake again.” She said, her voice clearly amused. She rolled her shoulders, bringing her fingers together to crack her knuckles. ”I think I’ll go check on the unit.” She said, not giving her commanding officer much time at all to scold her. Her smile was one of pride as she turned away, heading back towards the barracks.
