Whatever good intentions Silanos might have been nurturing had gone out of the window when tequila kisses and wandering hands had been offered instead. So when Eliana grabbed his hand, he didn’t resist, just patted himself down to make sure he had cigarettes and he was good to go.
“Uhm...sure?” he answered as she began tugging him toward the service elevator. He was beginning to think he’d maybe read this girl wrong because she certainly didn’t seem to be happy playing along with whatever that bitch of a woman had told her to do. Sil didn’t mind being used as an accomplice; he couldn’t say his own evening hadn’t looked up since Eliana had decided to inflict herself upon him.
The minute the doors to the elevator closed, she was on him again, like something about that interaction had lit a fire under her, and he wasn’t complaining. Hands moved freely down her back, over the curve of her rear and they settled their, comfortable.
Sil knew how many floors they had to go, counted off the dings and so he should have been more aware when the elevator stopped, but with his arms full of an enthusiastic Eliana his focus was quite happily elsewhere. He gave the caterers a wink as they exited, just about stopped himself swiping a finger through the frosting and was still laughing to himself when the cold air hit.
“Fuck. It’s freezing. You’re going to get hypothermia in that non-dress you’re wearing” He wrapped his arm around her at first before side-eyeing her bare legs and grumbling as he removed his jacket and offered it out to her. It was only once she’d shrugged it on that he reached into the pocket to pull out his smokes, fumbling around with cold fingers until an unlit cigarette hung from his lips as he shrugged. “What, by the water?”
He looked a little doubtfully at the throngs of people heading the same way. They could have just headed up to the roof if that’s what she’d wanted, rather than elbowing their way through all this lot. Still, Sil couldn’t be bothered to argue, so he wandered in that direction as he struggled to light to cigarette, draping his arm back around Eliana only once it was lit and he’d taken a drag.
“Such a wild child” he mused in response to her open-ended suggestion to where the night might lead them. They didn’t have long until the sky was lit with the first firework, and it soon became clear that getting to the actual waterfront was not going to happen, so Sil just tilted his head up to watch the rain of colour against the inky sky.
Sil blew out smoke from the corner of his mouth as he slanted a glance toward the girl at his side. She looked pretty, lips all kiss-swollen and wearing his jacket. He found he liked it, oddly enough.

“Happy New Year”
The next day Eliana might recount the events and wondered how it all happened. She started the night miserable but obedient, listening to her father’s wishes and conversing with a man she previously had no interest in. And now she ended the night with that same man, his coat around her shoulders, more than a bit inebriated. She ended the night happy and no longer obedient.
Such a wild child. What’s funny was that of her family members, except perhaps Erasmos, she was distinctly not a wild child. Independent, maybe, but she just… didn’t rebel. She was too attached to her money, and even beyond that, the idea of family wasn’t… something she could easily cut off.
And yet, with Sil just being there, Eliana changed. That and the alcohol. He was an asshole, but he wasn’t a mean asshole. In fact, Eliana had misjudged him. She thought she’d be fairly miserable having to talk to him when really… he was the best part of the night. Yes, he made her a bit slutty, but it didn’t diminish the night. In fact… it really made her night. He didn’t take her shit lying down, but never once did he try to stop her. He didn’t play games with her. He just… went along for the ride. It was refreshing, and yes he benefited from it but…
Why couldn’t she just admit she was having a good time? Eliana was far too stubborn.
The two had followed the crowd of people by the water. It was exciting, being in a mix of strangers, all counting down and celebrating together. It wasn’t like the parties, where there were a certain amount of… decorum expected. And it wasn’t like her friend’s parties, where most people were so shit faced they probably wouldn’t remember the countdown the next day. There were children with their parents, elderly couples, teenagers, adults, all sorts of people of every walk of life.
And when the fireworks started Eliana let out a ‘wow’ despite herself. Everything just felt so alive. She looked up at them with a real, genuine smile. Eliana didn’t need fancy things or the upper class to be happy. Hearing the cheers and seeing the explosions above her and over the water was more than enough.
Happy New Year. Eliana turned to look at Sil, her smile never fading. He really was handsome. And he… was really fun. She’d do it again- anytime. So, she took a step forward and leaned up, this time placing a gentle, New Year’s kiss on his lips as the fireworks exploded above them and said:
