Sil grinned insolently at Eliana’s disgruntled shrug out from under his arm. She complained loud enough, but he’d spent enough time around her to read when she was really mad, and this wasn’t one of those times. Thankfully, the times he had seen her cross, it had been at her brother and he’d just been a lucky bystander. He really wasn’t in the right frame of mind to deal with any genuine bad feeling today.
“Funny, you never seem to try too hard at that” he observed as they wandered outside, but he really didn’t have any plans and given Pallas would be passed out for at least another three hours, Sil was at a bit of a loose end. He followed Eliana’s outstretched arm to look upon the tree-covered hill a way off. It looked suspiciously like a mountain. “Is that not a mountain?”
But there was something that sounded fucking idyllic about the scene that Eliana painted, and he didn’t have anywhere else to be. Giving a shrug, he glanced at her when she told him to not to make it weird, biting his tongue to stop from saying a thousand things that would do exactly that. He’d save them for later, catch her off-guard.
“Uh. No thanks,” Sil muttered when she mentioned he might like to go find her friend again. “That was a strictly one-time affair. The guy she was seeing wasn’t too pleased about it, and I don’t think I could outrun him today.”
That had been an interesting end to a romantic liaison, Silanos having to hide in the kitchen of a very confused baker until whatshisface had gone. He’d bought up half the shops worth of baklava to show his thanks afterwards though.
“And yes. You’re in luck, I do happen to be good at picking wine. And better at drinking it.” Never mind that the thought made his stomach turn a little. It was all about pushing past that feeling. He slipped his arm through Eliana’s and then spoke before she could complain. “Look get used it. If you’re dragging me up a mountain, I might need a helping hand. My head is fucking killing me.”
Sil was a terrible influence at the market, with all the enthusiasm of a child let loose at the sweet stall. Especially at the actual sweet stall where he proclaimed that something sweet was the only proven cure for a hangover and purchased far more than they needed. Or...at least went so far as to gather far more and engage with the shopkeep until he remembered he didn’t actually have any money, at which point he stepped back and made way for Eliana. “Uh...I’ll buy next time?”

Eliana shook her head and pursed her lips at his story. She felt… disappointed. Though it wasn’t towards Silanos. That story was perfectly within his character and Eliana expected nothing less from her brother’s best friend. She was more disappointed in her friend- whichever friend it may be. Then again, she knew some had also slept with Pallas. That… was within their character as well.
Eliana needed better friends.
She sighed, and allowed Sil to go with her arm in arm to the market. It started simple at first. Eliana bought a basket and some cheeses and breads. Silanos sniffed out two bottles of excellent quality wine and Eliana found a nice blanket she draped over the basket that the pair could sit on and things were set…
Until Silanos found the sweets stall.
Sweets are the best cure for a hangover, he had declared as he made his way towards it. It would be very in character for Eliana to nag him. He should watch what he eats, or he doesn’t even have money on him to pay for any of this. But if Eliana had one weakness… it was sweets. Pastries and honeys and candies, just the thought of them could cause the lady to drool.
Uh… I’ll buy next time?
At the same time Silanos said that, the woman at the stall spoke up. “Oh is this a date, Lady Eliana?” Eliana clearly spent far too much time at the sweet stalls, if the merchants knew her by name. And… well, it was true. Barely a day went by without Eliana stopping to purchase something. Hana, the merchant, turned her gaze to Silanos. “Her favorite is loukomadies, if you’re looking to impress her.”
Eliana shot them both a look, and unhooked her arm from Silanos. “Next time? Someone’s confident,” she first said to Sil, rolling her eyes. Then she returned her attention to Hana. “This isn’t a date,” Eliana said before hesitating for a full beat, “But yes, add on the loukomadies.”
Hana had pursed her lips into an amused smile before adding fresh loukomadies to the purchase. Now the basket weighed quite heavily, with wine bottles, sweets, breads, and cheeses. At least getting down the hill would be easier than getting up; All Silanos and Eliana had to do was roll.
Eliana offered half the handle to Sil, so he could help in carrying all their purchases up. Perhaps it would have been better if Eliana actually traveled with a maid today. But after being a handmaiden, she suddenly felt a little… uncomfortable with people caring for her. It was different now. Besides, Eliana valued her privacy and there was never a private moment with someone following you around. And… well, Eliana knew full well how those girls liked to gossip.
“Ready to climb the ‘mountain’?” Eliana asked, tilting her head. “Just don’t expect me to listen to you as you complain about the climb. I’m really good at tuning whining out. After all, I grew up with Pallas.”

“Ready to climb the ‘mountain’?” Eliana asked, tilting her head. “Just don’t expect me to listen to you as you complain about the climb. I’m really good at tuning whining out. After all, I grew up with Pallas.”
“Fine whatever, add it to your brother’s tab” Sil said with a shrug, shooting a grin at the shopkeeper as Eliana drew out her coin. “She wishes it was a date” he said conspiratorially. “But I’m playing hard to get. Got to keep these young ladies on their toes you know. Plus there is my virtue to think about”
He intercepted one of the bags of sweet treats so he could cram one into his mouth before it went in to the basket, licking his fingers free of honey before he pointed at Eliana. “No funny business from you young lady, you hear”
Pulling a face as Eliana offered out the basket like they might both carry it up the hill like children in a nursery rhyme, he took it from her and then immediately regretted it. Fuck. How the fuck did a bit of bread and cheese weigh so much?
‘ Ready to climb the mountain’ Eliana asked, and he thought she knew he was regretting his misguIded moment of chivalry from the way she looked at him. Well he wouldn’t give her the satisfaction. “ So ready. And hello, I don’t know if you’ve been to Eubocris - I hope for your sake not - but its all fucking mountains. So..bring it on.”
Of course, it had been a while since he’d been in Eubocris too, and though as not as steep as the gorge, Eliana’s choice of destination was a fair enough climb when one was sweating pure alcohol and carrying what felt enough food to feed Greece for a month. Silanos lasted all of ten minutes before he had something to say about it.
“ There arent any other pretty places you can go and think? You have to climb to the top of Taengea to do it? There is a reason nooone else comes up here” he griped, switching the basket to the other hand. “ And its because of this walk”
It continued much in the same manner as they wandered up through the tree line, Silanos at least able to appreciate the trees offering some shade from the hot sun drumming down on them. He was never drinking again. When could they stop and open the wine.
“Is this seriously what you do with your time off?” he asked, a genuine curiosity creeping in. Silanos was a social creature, and he was easily bored with his own company. He couldn’t imagine choosing to pass a day sat on his lonesome. Even if there was a basket of treats on offer. “ Haven’t found some lordling in the capital to sweep you off your feet then. I could ask around, get you a pity date? If you smiled, they might even stay a while?”
He was joking, but even as he said the words he wasn’t sure he entirely liked the idea of pushing Eliana toward one of his friends. Because she was Pallas’ sister and he wouldn’t like it, he told himself as he once again shifted the basket to the other arm. Maybe they could eat some of this crap so it wasnt so fucking heavy.

When Sil spoke of his virtue, Eliana couldn’t help it. She let out the most unladylike snort, caught off guard by what had to be the most blatant lie a human has ever uttered. It was like calling the sky green or the gods a myth. When Silanos stuck his finger in her face, she jokingly went to bite the air in front of it before rolling her eyes (for what had to be the millionth time today) at him. Sticking out her tongue at him, their journey finally began.
The first ten minutes was delightful. And then the whining started. “What were you saying about Eubocris?” Eliana poked him on the side before she walked ahead, which was how most of the walk went. She’d clear the path, help him up as he needed it, and tuned out the complaints. Eventually Silanos became background noise as she completely zoned him out.
The air was nice and gave a clean, woodsy scent. Compared to the capital and, well, most of Argothia it was different. Eliana didn’t really know how to describe it. The way people seemed to change the environment around them, how a city could quickly become… stuffy. This trek was a break from everything. It was almost like she was entering her own little world. Except this time, she wasn’t alone. It wasn’t as if Eliana was having deep thoughts while they walked. She didn’t linger too much on the smells. She didn’t think about Artemis or Demeter or the woodland creatures or how slow Sil was. She… thought of nothing. And it was glorious. To just shut down and exist, without the stress that haunted her at every moment.
Is this seriously what you do on your time off? Eliana blinked, refocusing on what Sil was talking about now that there was a sudden change of tone. Haven’t found some lordling from the capital to sweep you off your feet then.
Eliana didn’t turn to face him, so he couldn’t see how her face flickered darkly for a moment. It wasn’t as if she wasn’t trying to find some man she wanted to marry. How could she compete with so many single Leventis? … That was an excuse wasn’t it? Truth was, most men she met made her feel… like she had to be someone else. It was always this game of court that never ended. A giggle here, a flutter of the eyelashes there. Small talk. It was awful.
“What, are you telling me this isn’t a pity date? My you are playing hard to get,” Eliana chose to tease instead, as she stopped to grab the basket from Sil. They were almost there anyhow. Just through these small patch of trees and then they’d hit the clearing.
The truth was there was one man that Eliana found herself thinking about from time to time. Achilleas. What was odd about him was that… the kindness from him was genuine. He was polite, very much so, but it wasn’t offputting like other men. Eliana was still able to be herself around him. And the few moments where he actually smiles, really smiles it was… like she won a prize. But Eliana knew her place. She knew when to take a gamble and when just fold.
Going after Achilleas would just make her lose everything.
They pushed past the patch of trees. There it was, the clearing. A beautiful sparkling pond was in a center of grassy field. The hill overlooked the small city below them, where at night the torches that lit it made it feel as if the were above the stars. And the actual stars glimmered in a clear sky overhead. At day, the clouds looked close enough to touch. “We’re here.”
Eliana set down the basket close to the pond and grabbed the blanket, setting it out for the pair. “Anyway, I’ll politely pass. The last thing I want is to date a lord. They’re so… stuffy. I probably would suffocate.” She pulled out the wine bottle and uncorked it, pouring it into the mugs they bought, giving a sizable portion to Silanos.
Eliana reached in and pulled some of the cheese and bread, taking a nibble. “As for your first question, yeah. When I’m home, I do actually do this. Sometimes it’s nice to just… not have to deal with people.” After all, they constantly disappoint.

Okay, so it turned out that, surprisingly, a diet comprising mainly of wine and strychnine based stimulants did not lend itself well to overall fitness. And you didn’t walk through the mountains of Eubocris, you took a fucking horse like a sane person. Sil was sweating and feeling more than a little sick again as the incline increased. He was also regretting getting so carried away at the agora because the basket weighed as much as a small child he was sure, and he told Eliana all of this as he ambled along after her.
“Ow, fuck!” he exclaimed when a brach shed walked past sprung back to thwack him in the face. “Be careful, will you.”
He was very definitely not looking at her ass as they climbed the path, outside of what was a customary inspection. The problem was, now he’d seen her out of her chiton, his mind was a little too ready to supply etchings of what lay beneath, and Sil blew out a breath between his teeth and decided he must say something, so he at least had something else to focus on.
“Wait though, who is pitying who?” he asked, just to be sure. “Because I can assure you, I do fine for dates,” he grumbled but sighed a little in relief as she took the basket from him. “No, don’t complain about how heavy it is. It's those loukoumades someone insisted on”
He dis quit his bitching for a moment though as they stepped out of the treeline and into what was obviously their destination. Sil was a little stunned if he were honest, and he looked around the picturesque spot before giving a slight nod.
“Alright. It’s not horrible; I’ll give you that” He was still quietly admiring the place as Eliana laid out the blanket and it was only as she began to unpack the basket that he let himself flop back in an ungainly heap, pillowing his head on his arms where they folded beneath his neck and closing his eyes at he basked in the sun for a moment, like a lazy cat.
Sil gave a vague hmmm as he considered her words. He liked people, he got bored on his own and that inevitably lead to him doing dumb shit, so yeah, the company was better.
“You were really born into the wrong family weren’t you?” he asked, cracking one eye open. “Yours, the family who do more entertaining than the whole of Colchis combined, and you don’t like people.”
He rolled onto his stomach and reached over to pick up the mug of wine she’d poured, taking a big gulp before he remembered how gross he’d felt earlier. Sometimes he decided it was better to get back on the horse right away though, and so he drank a bit more before rummaging through the basket and pulling out the sweets first. Life was too fucking short to wait for dessert.

You really were born into the wrong family weren’t you? Silanos went for the jugular with that comment. She screwed up her face and playfully threw a small piece of her bread at his him, but behind the playfulness lie a girl with a stomach that sank to the floor. She didn’t use to be so estranged from her family. She might not have partied as much as Pallas, but she wasn’t a bore who couldn’t handle alcohol. She might now be as competitive as Esdras, but she certainly loved winning.
Eliana was very much a Kassotis in the ways the public knew the family to be. She could be charming. She knew how to have fun. She knew how to let loose. She knew… how to be personable. But it was what the public didn’t know that made her so different from her family. The secrets hidden in the shadows and maybe even dug in shallow graves within the forest. Eliana distanced herself as far as possible from that.
“I don’t hate people. Don’t you start thinking that my feelings towards you are what I feel towards everyone else.” Eliana teased Silanos. She leaned her back against a large rock as she took a good drink of her wine. Sweet, just like the treats that she was about to feast on. She leaned forward and took a loukoumades. It was sticky and gooey and so, so amazing. “I just find my family to be… a little much sometimes.” Much was an understatement. There was always something going on in her household. Between her Uncle Diogenes and his larger-than-life personality to Pallas and Esdras and their antics to even her twin and her schemes. Eliana never got a break there.
“Besides, if I didn’t do shit like this then I never would have found this place. And then where would I take men when I give them pity dates?” Eliana said as she licked the honey off of the tips of her fingers. “To watch a play? I don’t pity people that much.” Although there were some good comedies that floated around Argothia...that wasn’t the point.
Eliana yawned and looked up at the sky. The sun was was so warm and soothing, almost like a blanket that was hugged around her. The sky was the clearest blue she had ever seen, with fluffy white clouds making fun shapes in the sky. It was a really nice day. It was one of those perfect days that you dream or read about but rarely do they actually happen. How… weird that it was spent with Sil.
“Anyway,” Eliana said as she poured herself some more wine. “I’m very much like my family. I know how to have fun, Sil.” She said taking an even longer drink. She would feel this. Then it was going to be hell getting back. She’d probably say leave all the shit they bought here. Reaching into the basket she pulled out a deck of playing cards. Always a Kassotis.
“When my friends were little it was too much to teach them how to play poker. So I taught them another fun little game. I’ll split this deck equally, and then we’ll take turns flipping cards. If a Jack comes up you slap it and take it and all the cards beneath it. The first one to have all the cards wins.” She shuffled them expertly before dealing. “You don’t have money so… why don’t we play for dares. If I win, I give you a dare. If you win, you give me one?”

The bread bounced harmlessly off Sil’s head he gave a snort. Didn’t change his statement though and he raised his eyebrows when she tried to deny it. Whatever she wanted to say, he was pretty damn sure she didn’t hate him. But he could understand her feelings towards her family.
He didn’t always see eye to eye with his either, it was a big part of why he’d left to Taengea. Before Timaeus could start managing him. When Nico had been alive he’d mostly been willing to let Sil do as he would. It was Timaeus that was pushing all the time, expecting him to follow in the footsteps of both his older brothers and sign up to serve with the Men of the Heights. Sil couldn’t think of anything worse. He’d put as much space between himself and that future as was possible.
“Oh right, so you admit it’s a date then?” He pressed, choosing to ignore the pity part. And the fact that she wasn’t dateable and that he didn’t date.Idly, he poked around in the piled food, trying to decide if he was hungry or if he felt sick after the sweet treats he’d already shoved in his face. Fuck, why had they bought so much?
He tipped onto his side and propped his head up on his elbow, giving an exaggerated nod as Eliana protested that she did know how to have fun. At the rate she was necking that wine he didn’t doubt she soon would, even if didn’t come naturally.
“Wait, where did the cards come from?!” He asked, wondering how she’d managed to sneak off and find them or if they were just a thing that the Kassotis carried at all times. Pallas always had dice. Still, he waved a hand and paid attention, quirking a brow as she explained the rules. “You know, I’m not so dumb you have to pick the kid’s game” he muttered, but then decided he was more interested in the latter part of what she’d said, breaking into a dangerous looking grin “Oh ho ho. You sure you want to play dates with me sweetheart? No crying off. You have to do it, whatever it is?!”
Eliana seemed far too buttoned up to hold her own in a game like that but Sil was happy to let her find out for herself. “ Come on then. Let’s go.”

Eliana seemed far too buttoned up to hold her own in a game like that but Sil was happy to let her find out for herself. “ Come on then. Let’s go.”
Oh right, so you admit it’s a date then? Eliana threw another small chunk of bread at him. If this were an actual date it wouldn’t be with someone like Sil. It’d be with… a really rich merchant. That way Eliana could be a merchant’s wife and travel around. And she wouldn’t be forced to go to court with all those false smiles and stuck-up girls who were only there to score the latest gossip. Or if it had to be a noble… it still wouldn’t be Sil. He was tainted by Pallas. Absolutely not.
“You were taking too long sniffing out the best wine,” And flirting with the merchant. “I was bored. You didn’t even notice me wander off? Such a heartbreaker you are, Silanos.” Eliana put an over-exaggerated hand to her chest, feigning offense. Although the purchase was quick and when Eliana returned he was no closer to choosing between three different bottles before Eliana just picked two of them and forced them to move on. But, to be fair, the one she was drinking was pretty damn fantastic.
You know, I’m not so dumb… Eliana stopped listening before she smirked. “I mean if you’d rather play poker with me, I’ll happily teach you why you should never gamble against a Kassotis.” She was playing the game by the age of five. As a child, it was always for extra desserts, but as an adult, the game got much more lucrative. They weren’t a family when they were playing the game, they were all fucking sharks out for blood.
Eliana split the deck between them. To Silanos’s credit, for being hungover his reflexes were fairly good. Eliana, in her case, wasn’t taking it too seriously, drinking between dropping cards. It was a fairly tight game, swinging one way or the other multiple times. Towards the middle of it, Eliana was getting a little more giggly, having finished another mug. Perhaps, though, Eliana should have taken it seriously. As it started to tip towards Silanos’s favor they were on what could have been the last pile. Eliana ran out of cards and was just waiting for Silanos to flip a Jack when suddenly a bird swooped in and stole a piece of bread. Eliana jumped, distracted by the bird, and when she looked back Silanos’s hand was on top of a Jack.
“No fair, cheater! I bet you bribed that bird.” Eliana giggled as she downed the last bit of her mug. That smile flickered though when she heard the dare come out of Silanos’s mouth. To strip and to do a lap around the meadow how… totally Silanos of him. And he probably thought Eliana would protest and not do it at all. It would be proper of her not to do that.
But fuck it, she was tipsy, no one was around, and Silanos had already seen her naked today.
She found herself getting to her feet and working her clothes off once again until she was stark nude in front of the boy. Only this time she tossed the cloth on top of her head before she started her leisure jog around the meadow. Before long she returned, reaching over him for her clothes. “Kassotis will always pay their debts. Even when it’s to cheaters ” she stuck out her tongue.

Sil gave a half-assed shrug at the heartbreaker comment, flicking a bit of bread out of his hair as he did so. Eliana had him mixed up with some other guy if she thought he spent his time running around after girls. Sometimes, the chase was fun, but he got bored quickly. Besides, the wine had been really good.
The card game was simple enough, which suited Sil fine, he was still hanging and tired, and anything requiring brainpower was not what he’d signed up for. The same seemed to go for his companion, who was getting steadily more drunk and sloppy as the rounds went on, and Sil managed to knock her had away from a couple of easy wins before the bird sent by the gods swept down to secure his ultimate victory.
“Oh no! Don’t diminish my ultimate skill just because you’re a sore loser, Eliana,” he said, laughing as he ripped up some bread and scattered it for his unlooked-for helper. Side eyeing her, he spat out the first thing he thought of with absolutely no belief that she would actually do it. He was just trying to shock her, push her buttons a little.
Which is why Sil had to shake the surprised expression from his features when she just stood up and shucked out her clothes like it was nothing. And this time, there was no haze of steam or pretence at politeness. He looked, blinked and then gathered his thoughts enough to give an appreciative whistle before snapping his fingers obnoxiously. “Come on then. Chop chop”
Honestly, he hadn’t thought it through. He was definitely going to the depths of Tartarus for this. Pallas would kill him. And yet Silanos wasn’t a good enough man to keep his eyes away as Eliana made her naked circuit of the meadow. If anything, it would be rude not to look, right? Urgh, but this was awkward because she was fucking naked, and things were jiggling, and he was having very inappropriate thought about someone who was supposed to be in the friend zone. Tipping the remainder of the wine into his cup, he blew out a breath and tried to look nonchalant as she returned and leant over him - shoving her fucking tits in his face, he might add - to reach her clothes.
“ Remind me never to let your brother owe me anything then.” he quipped. “Because I don’t think id recover from that visual.”
But despite his best attempt, Silanos could not quite manage to tip them back into the teasing lightness of before. He drank more wine instead, and when that was gone, he flopped back onto the blanket to watch the clouds drifting lazily across the sky overhead. He absolutely was not knife-edge aware of where she lay down next to him, almost close enough to touch. Nope. No godsdamned way.
Fuck

Fuck
There were many things that went through Eliana’s mind: - What the hell am I doing? - Am I really this drunk? - Why am I having this much fun?
It shouldn’t be this fun, fucking around with Sil. He was her brother’s friend as she thought for the millionth time today. He was a bit of a fuckboy, and totally not her type. But… but it was fun. It really was. She didn’t have to pretend to be all buttoned up and proper. She didn’t have to be the scolding sister trying to get her siblings in line. She didn’t have to be the dutiful handmaiden or anything. She could do whatever the fuck she wanted to do.
Even if it was run around naked.
The look of surprise that was on his face was worth it too. It was like throwing up the middle finger. She might be the good Kassotis, but she wasn’t good. She knew when to say fuck propriety. She just… also knew when to not say that. And it did help that Eliana wasn’t sloppy but she was… well, not sober. Everyone was a little freer with alcohol in them.
The run wasn’t hard at all. In fact, it was quite nice. The sun beat down on her, there was a soft wind that kept her cool. And by the time she got back, she still had a smile on her face, even if she was a tad bit breathy. She pulled the chiton back on before deciding to follow suit and lay down next to Silanos. She was close to him. She could practically feel the heat radiating from his side. She stared up at the sky, but her focus wasn’t on the pretty clouds above her head, but instead, it was on the fact that they were so close to each other.
Is he cute? Fuck. Before Eliana could stop it the question found its way into her mind. He was cute. Eliana would admit it. He was funny, he was easy to hang out with, and while Silanos was no demigod amongst mortals… he was sexy. He had this shit-eating grin that oozed confidence that simultaneously made Eliana roll her eyes and bring a smile onto her own face. He was sexy, there- she thought it. Her pride kept her from saying it out loud, but to not appreciate his looks would just be a lie- and a bad one at that.
“Well,” Eliana said as she flipped to her side, propping herself up by her elbow. She leaned closer to him once more for a second, only this time instead of clothes she was grabbing the last of the wine. Two bottles weren’t enough for them, evidently. She poured the last of the second bottle into their mugs.
Then she raised her. As she did, however, she bit her bottom lip, teeth catching the corner of it for just a moment- her nervousness shining through for just a moment. What was this bubbling she had in her stomach? This… nervousness? “Here’s to a successful pity date?”

Silanos at least kept his eyes turned skyward as Eliana got back into her clothes, distracted himself by seeing what shapes he pick out in the clouds. Those clouds looked remarkably like boobs. Fuck, that wasn’t helping. And then he let his eyes half-close against the sun, anything to focus on something other than the awareness of her settling beside him. Damn. That fucking dare was coming back to bite him in the ass.
He was having an internal debate with himself about the morality of the sister exclusion zone. It was a dumb rule, and they’d never really talked about it, so maybe Sil was just making assumptions. Maybe Pallas wouldn’t even care, and Sil was doing him dirty, thinking the worst of him. Eliana was a grown woman after all, and she’d proven to him today he wasn’t nearly as shy as he’d thought. Eliana’s voice interrupted his musings. Opening one eye fully to look at her, he gave the smallest shake of her head when she leant in again. Because don’t make this fucking easier, will you, Eliana. She smelled like flowers and shit and sweet like those loukoumades he’d had to lug all the way up here, and it was seriously testing his resolve. Oh, what the hell.
He propped himself on his elbow, squinting a little against the sun as he accepted the dregs of their wine, though his eyes were more focused on her that on the cup she passed over.
‘Here’s to a successful pity date?’
Silanos shrugged, gaze flickering from where her teeth caught the edge of her lip back up to her eyes.”Is it? I don’t know. Maybe we measure success differently.”
He was going to go to Hades, but maybe it would be worth it.
He set his cup down and took hers away, too, placing them just out of harm’s way before shooting her a wicked grin. “I don’t usually count a success without getting at least a kiss for my troubles.”
And before she could overthink it and remind them both why this was a bad fucking idea, he’d leant over just to get a little taste of her, his lips pressing against hers gently at first. They were so close already, but Sil didn’t want to spook her, so his hand skimmed down the bare skin of her arm and sat, well-behaved, at the little dip where her waist curved into her hip. And then, when she didn’t immediately pull back and smack him across the face, more assuredly, kissing the faint traces of wine and honey off her lips.
