Though it seemed that Nikos spent a lot of time in Doralis now, when Nikolias was in contact with his son, the young man seemed at best to be fighting off melancholy, and at worst...well. Nikolias didn't like to think about at worst. He had noticed a severe decline in his mood since last month, and though their relationship was strained most times. Nikolias did care for his son deeply- he just grew frustrated with what seemed to be almost a constant fixation on perhaps gaining the crown for himself. They'd been over that countless times, and he didn't want to see his only heir lose his head- figuratively or literally.
He had no idea what could have happened to make the young man sometimes look so grim. But he had his suspicions that it might have to do with a certain young lady....
He wondered if Fotios had suspicions about Nikos and Evie, too. Nikolias truly did like the girl, he was just somewhat surprised at Nikos' conduct with her sometimes. Regardless, the young man seemed to truly be miserable about something.
With this partly in mind, he had come to see him. House Condos needed more business, and it would be good practice for Nikos becoming Head of House Condos some day.
He mustered his most sympathetic expression- which, despite never having liked any other girl than Olivia himself, was easy. He didn't like seeing his often jovial son so sad.
"I have a proposition for you. Whatever your mood lately has been about, perhaps a project will help take your mind off what troubles you, son." He said when he had been announced and let in.

Nikos of Condos, the man known for his parties, and seize the moment attitude, felt absolutely dismal of late. Evangelina of Leventi was refusing to accept an audience with him. She seemed unwilling to return any of his letters. He had expected the sprightful young Lady to get mad at him, to take a step back from how serious things had been feeling with her lately. But to completely ice him out? No… this he had not expected and he was not happy about it either. Perhaps he’d gone too far in his taunting of her innocent way of thinking?
The Condos lord was in his office, sorting through the various business duties that required his attention and trying not to think of the woman he’d spent the last few weeks trying futilely to explain himself to. She would hear none of it, according to her younger brother. So why should he keep trying to scale that impossible wall?
A servant came to announce that Lord Nikolias had arrived and demanded an audience with his son. Nikos groaned audibly. What could possibly have brought his father all the way to Doralis and he was sure a missive would have sufficed! Nikos had little patience for much these days, and he knew in his gut that he would have no patience for the elder Condos lord this day. ”Fine. See him in,” the young baron grumbled. Nikolias had entered the room mere minutes later, but Nikos did not get up from behind his desk. He did put down the scroll he’d been reading and look at his father expectantly as the other lord took a seat.
’I have a proposition for you ... take your mind off what troubles you, son.’
A project. Oh, this should be entertaining. What hairbrained idea did his father have now? Nikos sighed. He wasn’t angry at his father, and he knew he shouldn’t think such things about the man he honestly looked up to and wanted nothing but pride from, but the arrogant young lord was having a hard time seeing his own character flaws right now. ”Not that I’m interested in any such projects, but go on… share what this ingenious plan is to distract me from the troubles you perceive me to have.” Nik did get up then, and moved to a table off to the side where a bottle of wine and two silver goblets sat. Nik poured himself a healthy portion of the bittersweet liquid and listened to his father’s ‘project.’
