It seemed like everything was going awry lately.
Things hadn’t felt right ever since Silanos had left. She had tried so hard to prevent any hurt feelings and in the end, that was all they had. As if that wasn’t bad enough, now he was off at war and she still felt sick every time she thought about it. And yet still she was entangled with Nikos. What had been meant to be a one night thing had become far more complicated. Arete had moved into the Condos manor and yet still he wasn’t done with Eleni. It seemed she had awakened something within him he was reluctant to share with anyone else or let go of. And she was simply too weak to deny him.
Add to it the chaos that came with the news of the King and the fear that came with it... The city was teeming with it. So many had crowded in to hide behind the walls, supplies were being seized to support them all. It was a mad time, and it seemed like things were only going to get worse with time. Eleni could only hope that better news of the war might arrive soon, something to ease the fear of invasion so that Vasiliadon would feel like the city she called home again soon.
Eleni needed a hint of normalcy. Luckily, she wasn’t the only one. Which is why receiving Pia's invitation felt like an answered prayer. The one good thing that had happened in the last month was the return of her dearest friend. Much had happened to Pia, from the ousting of her husband that labeled them traitors to the birth of her daughter. Yet when they’d reunited it had been just as it was long before her friend had ever been Princess or Queen. Like when they were just girls.
She hadn't felt this excited in a long time. Lately it seemed like every good moment was soured by some sort of dread. But not this night. When she arrived to see her friend, she came bearing some of the best bottles of her family’s wine. Tonight, they were going to get that feeling back. Just two girls, drinking, gossiping, braiding each other’s hair. Leaving all the complications outside the door for just one single night. All the mess would still be there tomorrow, but it could wait.
Upon her arrival at the Leventi Old Estate, a servant led her to Olympia, who she greeted with a hug and soft squeal. “It’s been too long!” she exclaimed. “Is Tisi sleeping?” With a glance around the room, she looked back to Pia with a wide grin before reaching into her bag and pulling out a bottle of wine in each hand. “I brought supplies. The best that Melis has to offer! So I hope you’re ready to unwind because I sure as Hades do,” she said, concluding with a dramatic sigh.
