Iason,
I wish you could see yourself as I do. You always seem so uncertain, so quick to suggest you are lacking. Yet, out of a crowd, it would always be you that I chose, no matter what Prince or King or charmer stood alongside you. Can you truly not see how desirable you are? Do you not realize the way your blue eyes can render me speechless or make my heart race with only a glance? Or the way I long to capture your attention for more than a passing moment?
I wish I was the sort of woman worthy of your time, your adoration. I know your honor will see you tied to someone truly worthy. Someone such as I isn’t worth your notice. Not in the realm of romance or courting at least. You are far too kind-hearted to ever truly look down upon another. But family means too much to you to ever consider someone who didn’t have something worthwhile to offer you. Someone whose honor, whose heart could mirror your own.
I know you shall never be mine and yet... it is a dream that I cannot let go of. On every rare occasion when I catch a glimpse of you, it all comes rushing back in an instant, and I wish I had the courage to beg you to be mine. Even knowing it would ruin you... it might almost be worth it to hear you call me yours. Just once.
Instead, I can only hope to give you the gift of seeing yourself through the eyes of another. You are the most worthy man in all of Taengea, perhaps even all of Greece. What you lack in polish you more than make up for in heart, a far more rare and valuable quality. Anyone who catches your eye is a woman I envy, a woman I long to be, someone truly blessed by Aphrodite to be so lucky in love.
Perhaps it will bring you comfort to know you are already loved exactly as you are. I could wish nothing more for you than that.
