My Dear Lord Rafail,
There is no need for such apologies. I am honored by your invitation, and your gift - it is beautiful. If I understand your meaning correctly, I only hope that I shall be able to wear it well.
You are not wrong that my people are waging a war against Egypt - it is something I cannot seem to escape at home. It seems almost as if one is not allowed to be happy, at times. Yet, your letters have always brought me happiness, your recent invitation leaving me overjoyed.
Though my father is at the front, my mother has indicated that she does not object to my visiting, on the condition that I leave after the war has ended - the friendship between our two families is such that I feel my parents would not fear for my safety in your care. Thus, I am delighted to accept your invitation. I only worry that time shall pass slowly in the interim.
Eagerly awaiting to see you once more,
Nana of Leventi
