Athenia hadn’t been a complete waste of time. Thea had managed to find some more interesting merchants at the festival and acquired some rather high quality goods to sample once back home. Thea had made sure to take note of connections, for she would always have a need for rare and dangerous herbs and poisons, as well as something a little more fun. Thea rather enjoyed letting opium fill her with a rush of euphoria and content. If she truly wanted to feel something, she would lock herself away for the night and let the smoke flow through her. There truly was nothing quite like it.
Some of the shadier merchants had interesting substances that caused all sorts of reactions, from dulling emotional reactions, to creating a nearly lethargic calmness. One product that caught her attention was a pouch of seeds. She was promised that when thrown into a bath of hot water, the fumes would make her howl with joy. She was somewhat sceptical, but if there was any truth to the claim, then she could think of a few ways to make use of such a product.
Beyond her personal connections and purchases, Thea had made arrangements with suppliers and taken stock of inventory, as requested by her father. While she was still displeased with him, she would not give him the satisfaction of seeing her fail an otherwise simple task. She would placate him with her compliance for now, but should he try to force her hand again, she would be willing to take more drastic measures. He was the head of house after all. If her ‘betrothed’ were to suddenly fall ill, then it would not be difficult to make it seem like he gave the order.
With her tasks completed, Thea had quite a bit of time to fill before returning to Colchis. Admittedly, she had found Daniil to be more entertaining than originally assumed. Absence made the heart grow fonder, so Thea spent some of her quiet time contemplating how best to act moving forward, especially once she was back in Colchis. Some correspondence through letters could work, perhaps Daniil might even entertain the idea of visiting Colchis. Being away from her grandfather and father might be appealing enough. Ironically she would be much safer with them around.
Using the excuse that she wanted to see more of Athenia before leaving, Thea made the journey to the temple of Poseidon. She’d already spent much time wandering the great Marikas gardens. Even she could appreciate the impressive blooms the Marikas had cultivated over the years. However while she could appreciate the wonders of nature, Thea’s true aesthetic appreciation came in the way of the finer arts and music. She couldn’t explain why, but she had always found pleasure in examining exquisite architecture or pieces of art. They were true embodiments of talent and expression. The deliberate use of colours, lines and texture made wonderful puzzles for Thea to solve. Music on the other hand was like a window to the soul. She enjoyed hearing the tales of adventure sung by bards, but truly it was not their words she found most interesting, but instead the timbre of their voices. She took pleasure in mapping the contours of the melodies, the variety of pitches and vocal styles. The spoken lyrics were like an over simplified telling of the tale itself. The true message in her opinion, could be found in the sounds alone.
Still, Thea had not gone to the temple to listen to bards. She had been curious to see the temple, for it was her understanding that Poseidon was rather popular in Athenia, especially with the common folk. She’d been interested to see how the temple compared to the one for Artemis in Colchis. She herself favoured Hades, but she had respect for the rest of the gods as well. Her voyage home relied on Poseidon’s good graces after all.
Once she’d made her humble offering to the god of the sea and prayed for safe passage home in a few days time, Thea left and continued to walk along the docks. As the sun began to set in the evening, Thea could not say she did not appreciate the fresh sea breeze against her skin as she walked. She could still feel the heart of the Summer sun from earlier under her skin, so the change in temperature was pleasing. Dressed in a dark green peplos, pinned at her shoulders by silver serpent fibulae, and pulled in at the waist with a fine silver rope, Thea did not seem particularly fitting along the docks. Crewmen bustled around their vessels, merchants hurried about with their cargo and even some soldiers stood at the end of a pier speaking quite amicably amongst each other. Thea observed the goings on about her, ignoring the lingering glances from some of the men nearby. Once their gazes tracked back to her two guards who remained far enough behind her to give her space, their lecherous looks dropped away.
As Thea continued past, she recognised a somewhat familiar face. There, speaking with the soldiers, was the younger Antonis boy, Stelios. Thea had seen him briefly at the dinner celebration in Colchis. He had seemed rather focused on the Drakos girl, who contrastingly seemed nervous, especially around him. Thea had watched them only briefy and had come to the conclusion that the two had likely fallen into bed together. It would after all explain the awkward dynamic between the two. Beyond that, Thea had not paid them much more attention. Imeeya of Drakos was Colchian, so it was in Thea’s interest to observe her behaviours, but Stelios was Athenian and so she’d spent less time tracking his actions, given that he would not have been in Colchis for much longer. She knew enough about him and his family though, for reputations travelled across the Aegean rather easily.
Ironically, it was Stelios’ brother that Dionysius had suggested Thea marry. Lord Mateos of Antonis, commander of the Athenian army, and a golden example of a first born, military son. Rumours suggested the man was nearly as emotionless as she was, which no doubt amused her father to some degree. As for Stelios, he was the middle brother and although he had an impressive reputation himself, being so very close in age with Mateos, Stelios seemed to live partially in his brother’s shadow.
Thea had no real desire to stop and converse with the Antonis man, but potential games began to bubble in her mind. It was truly exhausting at times, having to find ways to keep her mind busy and entertained. If he were to notice her and approach her, she might even entertain one of those ideas. If not, then she would continue on her way.

It had been nearly a months end since he had last seen Imeeya, and yet here stood Stelios, his mind consumed with the thoughts of her. Sighing, he blinked a few times before moving from on spot to the other and then again. Life since his return to Athenia had become dull and unexciting. He was asked to check on the ships that belonged to his family and was now here at the docks to do exactly that. So as he had arrived he found himself looking out at sea wondering how far he could push his mind away from the ever intoxicating thoughts of Imeeya.
It was only a moment later that one of his captains had come up to him with a question about a new formation they had planned on using in a battle. Shaling himself of the thoughts in his head, the soldier known as Stelios looked st his captaon with a smile and showed him the tactical know how that he had learned and experimented with. Eventually the captain had begun to understand this use of this tactic and returned back to his duties after thanking Stelios. And now once again, Stelios was alone. Sighing ever so slightly, Stelios moved from ship to ship, making sure all was attended to. He had become quite busy, busy enough that he hadn't noticed the time it took. Nightfall was approaching and he would likely have to find a place to rest his head before making the journey home. Looking at the last captain to his ship, Stelios smiled and bid the man farewell before disembarking. And as he descended down the steps he found his eyes traveling along the crowd.
At first he did not believe his eyes. But as he scanned a particular person once again, he found himself chuckling. So, the princess wasn't the only one paying Athenia a visit it seemed. Before him, yet a small distance away stood a very peculiar woman. Thea of Thanasi, one of the witch sisters as some men called her. Honestly, he did not believe in the rumors of these sisters. It was more likely that they used what they had in order to gain what they needed. And knowing that she had looked at him as he had looked at her, Stelios was...intrigued. Did she wish to start a flirtation, or was there a means to this end? Well the only way one could find out was by approaching the target. And so, Stelios moved through the crowd with an experienced grace before he came to stand in front of the young woman.
In a playful jest, Syelios smiled at her and spoke. "Careful my lady, the docks are dangerous at night. Full of men thirsty for a beautiful woman such as yourself."

Thea was no stranger to the rumours about her that circulated the Grecian kingdoms. She had no doubt that there were likely more that had not yet reached her ear, but she’d heard enough to know the general impression most had about her. Witch, mute, simple, clever, harmless, dangerous; there was no shortage of adjectives used by those who tried and failed to figure her out. When she lived to solve the puzzles in the shape of other people, she knew how to keep herself armoured against such scrutiny. Thea read body language as easily and fluently as the written word. So, she made sure each and every gesture or posture she made was intentional. She let people see only what she allowed. Same with expressions. Most people reacted too quickly to completely hide their true expressions. Or, they made awkward attempts to hide what they felt, which usually gave them away just as easily as their honest expressions.
When Stelios of Antonis caught sight of her, she could see the change in his demeanour. He was surprised to see her, which made sense, she was Colchian after all. Upon meeting her gaze—which was nothing more than intent recognition—Stelios seemed to have received all the affirmation he needed to approach her. Calmly, Thea waited, standing still now as she watched him approach her. Before long he was standing right before her in nearly the same way Daniil had chosen to stand in front of her at the festival. Perhaps it was an Athenian way of inciting an interaction. Or perhaps Stelios and Daniil had similar motivations.
’Careful my lady, the docks are dangerous at night. Full of men thirsty for a beautiful woman such as yourself.’ Stelios smiled as he spoke, his confidence accentuating his rather bold and playful statement. Thea was not surprised. Many people avoided her, unnerved by her. Those who did not, seemed to like the idea of a challenge; who could step up and survive a meeting with the second Thanasi Witch and live to tell the tale? Thea liked those types—usually men. The ones who were curious enough to see if there was any way to break her stony exterior and tame the storm within.
So far, no one had come close.
But Thea welcomed the challengers all the same.
With a casual but very intentional glance behind her at her guards, Thea turned her gaze back to the man before her and raised a single, arched brow. She had no true fear for her safety, but she also knew Stelios was not suggesting she was in physical danger either.
“Lucky you’re here,” Thea stated in a voice that was so calm, it nearly seemed bored. She was willing to play, however. How interesting that the younger brother of the man Dionysius wanted Thea to marry should decide to flirt with her. The gods truly did have a sense of humour.
As Thea awaited Stelios’ response, she wondered how long it would take her to discover his motivations. What would drive him? What could she use against him? What weaknesses could she exploit? She was willing to play and let him grow comfortable enough around her to let his guard down. Then she would really have some fun.

There was once a time when Stelios had entertainrd the thought of not ever dancing with another female due to his infatuation with Imeeya. There was also a time when he considered anyone but her to be dull and unentertaining. Yet, there was just something about this evening that said he would find it...fun. maybe it was because his mind was already reeling from the fact that Thea of Thanasi was here near his home. This was an oddity, but it wasn't one he didnt mind. In fact, maybe he could use this as a distraction to remove the constant thoughts of Imeeya away. So as he looked over Thea of Thanasi and then to the men standing nearby her, he came to a conclusion. She was protected enough she wouldn't need Stelios to act as a guard, so maybe just maybe he could assume a different position entirely from her.
Stelios knew of the potential arrangement that had been made years back for Mateos and Thea to marry, but he also knew neither would have wanted that action to occure. Mateos had actually yelled at their father for once stating he could find his own wife. Maybe it was because of Stelios' freedom of choice that spurned Mateos that day, whatever the reasoning, it had surprised the family long enough that the idea was just that, an idea. Still, looking Thea over once was enough to tell Stelios that Mateos had erred in his judgement. The woman was beautiful and had the potential figure of a mother. Maybe it was because of this that Stelios was approaching her in a different style than he had done with Imeeya.
Lucky you're here.
It was coated with an experienced smile and a bored tone. So perhaps the lady found herself at the docks to solve her boredom. Well to be at the docks when night was fast approaching was definitely one way to cure one of their boredom. Soon the docks would empty and the inns would fill with men and women looking to have their drunken fun. It wasn't something Stelios could blame them for, not at all, he had partaken in that affair quite often and even did so to this day. So, perhaps she was seeking a solution akin to this? If she was, he would gladly entertain her. In fact, he would insist on it if necessary. She was after all one of the few women be knew of that had such a...stoned wall. He woukd tear it down, and lay claim to a prize worthy of prying open a vaulted chest.
Taking a second yet quick glance over her revealed the fact that her clothes were far from worthy of being on the docks. It was more meant for entertainment purposes and perhaps a formal evening with food and wine meant for a feast. So with a smile, Stelios approached the woman. And as he got closer to her, he slightly bent down only to take hold of her hand and then kissed the top of it. "Lady Thea of Thanasi, it is good to see you again. We didnt have much of a chance to talk when I was kast in Colchis, so do forgive me about that. I was otherwise....occupied."
That was a lame way to put it. He was beyond distracted by Imeeya of Drakos, in fact he had tended to her every need and word as if he had been a lost puppy. If anyone had seen the awkwardness displayed between Stelios and Imeeya, it would have been Nethis and Thea seeing how they had been in close proximity to them during one of the feasts.
Releasing Theas band and straightening his back, it was obvious that Stelios had recently exercised in some manner, as the skin under his tunic was glistening with slight sweat, and the setting sun seemed to paint him in an almost olive color. Yet at the same time, he wore a smile for the lady, as if bidding his time. Maybe, just maybe this would be an entertaining evening and night for the two of them. Thea could distract Stelios from his thoughts, and Stelios could provide Thea with some entertainment of his own. Or, she could just as easily leave. For he presented no further conversational topic. Simply asking for her to indulge in his apology for not greeting her or visiting them when he previously had a chance to.

It seemed Athenia was gracious enough to gift Thea with more potential for entertainment that she could have expected. How vexxed her dear father would be if he were to learn how much she thoroughly enjoyed being sent to Athenia on his demand after all. The night was still young however and she was yet to see if young Stelios of Antonis was simply flirtatiously welcoming, or whether he had the grit to try his hand at her. Toying with men was usually a quicker game than with women, but fun all the same, should the man in question be willing to play.
Noting the way he looked over her again, Thea did not show any reaction. She did not fluster or swoon at the attention, she couldn’t care less. However, she was not modest, not in the way those who usually did not care for their appearance were. Thea knew she had the body of a woman and the royal breeding of a Thanasi. Men and women had been known to find her attractive, whether it be her appearance, status or the sheer challenge, Thea rarely had to try to appeal to others suggestively. As Stelios moved closer, a charming smile upon his lips, Thea let him take her hand and bring it to his lips, her icy blue gaze lazily following him.
’Lady Thea of Thanasi, it is good to see you again. We didn't have much of a chance to talk when I was last in Colchis, so do forgive me about that. I was otherwise....occupied.’
That was one way to put it. Thea had seen Stelios at the dinner party the day after the festival. She’d seen the strange ways he and Imeeya of Drakos had acted around each other, much like awkward, lovestruck pups. Imeeya had seemed rather deflated and uncomfortable, more than one would expect of a dragon. Perhaps if no one was really paying them any attention, they would not have noticed, but to Thea, it was quite evident that there had been something shared between the two. From what Thea understood of Stelios’ time in Colchis, he had spent a lot of his stay heeding to the young Drakos’ wishes, if the whispers that flowed back to Thea were to be believed. So a tryst then, perhaps one that led to some unrequited feelings, or perhaps a reluctance to accept said feelings. Imeeya was quite young still, was she not? Young women were groomed to desire a good match and twitter over the privilege to provide their husbands with children. It was not surprising to find lovesick young ladies yearning for men who had not thought about them since leaving their bed.
That was assuming Stelios did not have feelings for Imeeya. His current flirtations and confident charm would suggest that he did not, however why else would he have tended to the girl’s every need while in Colchis? Perhaps he was playing a long game to find his way between her legs, but to what cause? Was he truly that bored? Could he not have found his release in some other woman, rather than spending his entire stay in a different kingdom of fresh, new and unexplored women chasing after Imeeya? If he did have residual feelings for the Drakos girl, that could be a fun source of entertainment.
“No apology needed, Lord Stelios,” Thea replied with a slight bow of her head. She found pleasantries tiresome, but understood the need for class and formality every so often.
“I do hope you are well, you did seem quite distracted in Colchis,” Thea added simply enough. With that, she let her gaze scan over the docks, before returning to rest upon Stelios. “Do you frequent the docks at this time most nights?” Thea asked, her tone the same as before.
