Once you are up there in age at some point marriage most cross your mind frequently, because it is a necessity for familial economics as well as politics. Nethis knows this very much, for the past few years marriage has been a tactic she has been using to accumulate drachma and political power as well as other resources for her family. Lord Fotios has been courtesy to allow the council of marrying a Lady of the Leventi House, Evagelina of Leventi. Dysius would be the destined head of the Thanasi House, marrying a woman of an honorable home would be more than profound, since the Leventi House has so many accolades and fields of power. This would probably Nethis’s most successful arrangement, working alongside Lord Fotios if she did should secure her ties to the family once more. Making relationships is all that is to win at the game of thrones, House Kotas has already been infiltrated and there are only a few years before an heir should be called. The only thing getting in Nethis’s way now would be the chance of the Prince getting a son of his own, which will forfeit Dion’s chance of taking any major responsibility – more so the throne. Thanasi blood will rise, and it will conquer along with its allies as they all chance an eternity of wealth.
Meeting with the Lord and the Lady of his choosing would be glorious. Rafail of Marikas has been dealt with, therefore she does not foresee him being a problem in her demands of marriage. Everything appears to be going as planned, despite her own brother not attending the meeting at hand. He has his reasons, but Nethis pushed him to understand the politics at hand and he should be in attendance. Still, to no avail did Dysius show himself to present himself as the future head of House Thanasi. Furthermore, Nethis must do a man’s job, hell, she is doing what she was promised as a little girl just without the title. Nethis has a small spite for her little brother, only because it was her dream to be the Head of the House and her future was bright until mother was pregnant with Dysius, then any say of Nethis becoming the Head was ceased. Nethis does not blame her brother, because he had no control of the gods’ blessing. If it wasn’t for her birth, Nethis would not have transpired to new ideals and new forms of power that has carried her outside of her House. Her brothers know little in comparison to their sister, because she has experienced years to what they are starting to understand. In time Dysius will understand his mistake in not arriving, but he will continue to know the comfort that Nethis has provided.
Lady Nethis was accompanied by an attendant as she was walked to the room of their meeting, as a compliant to their culture, Lady Nethis was draped in the colors of House Leventi as she walked in a hue of purple. Nethis wore a golden circlet that was fastened gently onto her head as she was led into the meeting area, where she graced the presence of Lord Leventi. The Lady spoke favorably, “Well it has been far too long, Lord Fotios.” Nethis said with a polite bow, “It is my pleasure to see you again in person.”

The Lady spoke favorably, “Well it has been far too long, Lord Fotios.” Nethis said with a polite bow, “It is my pleasure to see you again in person.”
Nethis of Thanasi was a woman to be reckoned with. Since her arrival in Taengea a week or so ago, during the coronation of his highness King Stephanos, Fotios had felt as if there were suddenly two major players within the main Leventi manor, instead of just one. While he admired his wife and her skills in the arenas she worked, Eirini and he were two sides of the same coin; they worked in perfect unison, and therefore counted as a single entity. Lady Nethis, however, had her own agenda and her own cunning mind to see it come to pass. As such, Fotios had been - not nervous - but certainly at the top of his game for the last week or so. His notes were kept more firmly under lock and key, his words were more hedged and careful. A dedicated perfectionist by nature he had never slacked in his privacy or secrets, but even a perfectionist could try for that one step further.
This wasn't to say that he disrespected the Lady Nethis. If anything, it was a sign of the exact opposite. Anyone that Fotios thought to be an idiot or of little threat to his plans and intellect would have forced him to adjust his behaviour in no such manner. The fact that he took such extra steps only indicated that he respected Lady Nethis far more than just about any other in his acquaintance. Did he trust her, though? Absolutely not. And she would have been insulted if he did.
For the last week or so of her attendance in the house, Fotios had interacted with the woman very little. He had offered hospitality, had meals sent to her rooms and had greeted her very briefly just after the king's coronation. But the woman had come to Taengea to handle her own business and her own connections. She had had matters to attend to the pre-dated his suggestion of talks of matrimony. Which meant that she had been in the manor very little and certainly not to in the manner that would have them sit down and discuss things properly. They had even, at one point, taken to sending notes down the halls to one another, to be left on bedside tables until the other returned at nightfall.
So, despite her staying with them for near ten days now, Nethis' greet that suggested they had yet to meet in person was entirely appropriate. For it was their first proper interaction since her arrival in his country.
With a smile, as Lady Nethis entered the lounging room, Fotios set his book aside, placed a hand on either arm of his chair and pushed himself to standing. Stepping across the room, his slim legs clad in riding pants seeing him across the Persian rug with speed and elegance, Fotios lent in to offer the lady a kiss to her cheek in welcome - a touch far more familiar than he graced with any of his own acquaintances.
"You are most welcome in my home, Lady Nethis." He commented as he stepped away from the greeting. His fingers lingered on the sweeping sleeve of her chiton, the purple tone catching the light. "You are most gracious as always, Nethis." He commented, dropping the title post their formal re-introductions. "But I'm surprised you think I can be goaded with flattery..."
This last he stated with a taunting smile, as he then left the woman to move towards a side bureau and poured the both of them two cups of wine, being sure the keep what he was doing visible to his guest. If Nethis was anything like him, he didn't consent to drink anything that had been given to him that he could not be sure was also being poured into the giver's own cup.
"I trust that the matters that brought you to Serenn have all been settled favourably?" He asked her, as he came back across the room with cup outstretched for the taking.

Lord Fotios would be a man Nethis would consider for marriage. He has the guile, the determination, the yearning desire for power, and the means to take it. A man like that is worth Nethis time, though she prefers men she can have a grip on tighter than the grip Atlas has on the world. Fotios is the kind of man she desires, but the man she will marry will be a man Nethis can control because she too yearns for power. Lord Fotios is a good business associate, Nethis would dare call him a friend and it would mean a lot for someone like Nethis to call anyone a friend. The guile woman respects both men and women who are in likeliness of her, because it takes a certain kind of person to live happily knowing your neighbor loathes your existence. It takes a kind of person to want what you want and will do anything to get, those kinds of people are feared and its those kinds of people Nethis likes to be around. Competition of any kind is refreshing, Nethis lives in Colchis and she is her only competition when it comes to intellect and politics. The only people Nethis could say would give her a challenge would be the House of Kotas, but they are only problematic because of the power that is at their fingertips and not the minds behind it all.
House Kotas is one reason for why Nethis is Taengea, speaking to a man of power. The more power House Thanasi gains, the more of a threat they are to the crown of Midas. Soon enough there will be Thanasi blood taking the throne that was once of Kotas, and Nethis will be there to see it through. The pieces were already at play, but now Nethis is just assuring success from all her pawns and all her moves. Marriage is the biggest key, marrying off her siblings is her strongest move when it comes to gaining power, influence, and wealth. There are other means, but the connection to another House means instant gratifications that will uplift her own house. House Leventi has been in the corner of House Thanasi for a long while, their connections have been discrete for many years, and it is about time their names together are finally made public.
Marrying Leventi and Thanasi would mean Nethis and Fotios will be working a lot closer in the coming years. Something the raven-haired woman looks forward in doing. Nethis smiled at the gestures of Lord Fotios, before gracefully taking her seat opposite to her longtime ally. The Lady sat in correct posture as she turned her head to look at Lord Fotios with a twinkling eye, “I expected nothing less coming from you or your House – I will say, Serenn is very different from the comforts of Midas.” The Thanasi woman chided, “I feel as if I am in no need of an escort a comfort I do enjoy.” Nethis eyed the drink, before returning her eyes on Lord Fotios – she trusts that he wouldn’t try and poison her, but there are many people who dislike Nethis and could know that she is in city limits. Other than that, it just makes good practice for a woman of nobility to only drink what she has prepared herself or seen made for her. Therefore, trust no one, because no one is a closer friend than yourself.
Nethis looked at Fotios with a smile, “I left Colchis in safe conditions, hopefully once I return it is in the way I left it.” The Lady said as crossed her legs, though keeping her body erect as she faced Fotios. “I come to Taengea, to your House, because it is time we carry on our business in the fashion of verbal communication,” A smile spreads as she continued on, “How is the lovely Lady Evangelina? I do hope she is feeling her best?”

Fotios nodded cordially regarding Nethis' comments on the business that had brought her to Taengean soil. He asked nothing further - another sign of respect for the woman. There was little point in prying, even if it was in the guise of polite social propriety. All that happened in the end was for the opposing party to come up with some lie or half-truth if they did not want their business known. Such a ruse was irritating to keep up and, as such, Fotios forced Nethis to neither create one, nor hold one, by saying nothing after her initial assurances that her business was going well.
When she moved the topic on the arrangements between themselves that had brought her to his home in particular, Fotios nodded calmly, retaking his seat, wine cup in hand.
"As to be expected." He commented with a shrewd smile. "I arranged an experience of marital consideration for her last week." He told the woman without shame that he had arranged a second marriage prospect within the time she had been in the kingdom. "To an Athenian with an a truly awful reputation. Luckily, the man was just as hedonistic as his legacy suggested and the Lady Evangeline was suitably offended." He smiled over the rim of his cup. "I should think any match proceeding such a disastrous one would be seen in a light most favourable."
Sipping from his cup, licking at his lower lip and then propping the bottom rim of the chalice on the end of the arm of his chair, Fotios waved a hand of leisure with his next words, indicating his plan to be already in motion.
"I have summoned Evangelina to be ready upon the hour and to be escorted to the dining hall." He told his guest. "As soon as she's present, a servant will fetch us to attend upon her and you'll be able to see for yourself her worth. She is a Leventi, after all."

An education was proving to be the most powerful weapon for which she could arm herself. It was only in the recent weeks that it had become so apparent to the petite girl that she was so evidently lacking in one. This was the first time to have been truly separated from that of her parents. It was the first time for her to stand on the ledge of her gilded cage and attempt to fly and as long as that cage’s door remained closed it was easy to forget just how far away the ground as if she could not spread her wings and learn to fly in this world on her own. Each step she made seemed leaden as she moved more cautiously now than ever before and her eyes didn’t just seem to look, but rather they saw. They saw more than just the actions but rather she was able to pick apart and see the pieces unfolding to create the reactions to the things around her.
Somedays, like today, it seemed to be more burden than a gift. What she thought she knew about the world and what she was finding out she knew about the world were, in fact, two very different things. Blessed were the ignorant, it would seem. After the last fiasco of her marital interview, she’d been excited and hopeful and altogether unprepared. Physically, she’d been stunning but mentally… well… Evangelina’s jaw tightened.
Embarrassed and disappointed in herself, how could she lost sight of facts and let herself drift way into some sort of land of quixotic dreams that was more befitting of Nana then of herself. Nana lived in a world that wasn’t reality… Evangelina did not. That wouldn’t be a mistake she made again. She’d made a promise to herself then… she refused to ever be caught off guard like that again. For here on out she was going to do everything capable in her power to make sure she was one step ahead rather than one step behind.
She didn’t know whether it a bit of fair play on her uncle’s part to disenchant her or if it’d been his method of delivering a rather rude awakening but in either case. Evie had decided it was time to get her act together because hitting the ground left bigger bruises at twenty-one then they did when you were seventeen.
Her finger maneuvered the last pin into her the pile of vibrant reddish-brown hair at the top of her head, the length of it curled and dropping elegantly over her shoulder. At her last meeting, she’d not wanted to prepare herself alone but this one… this one required it. She used the silence to focus her mind and go over everything she’d managed to discern about the Colchian powerhouse family that was to be her next interview. Her curiosity over the woman who was standing in place of her brother still intrigued her. Maybe because of Evangelina’s own brother would one day marry and she hoped… prayed that the Gods were kind enough to let the girl be the right sort for her brother. Someone who would not lead him too far astray in what was best for the family… and the kingdom, of course.
Byrony had busied herself after Evangelina had pressed that she’d needed a moment alone, only to reappear and let Evangelina know that her time was up and she needed to leave for her uncle’s manor. It was a short distance and Evangelina made it a point not to rush. Rushing made this look like a desperate attempt to please, and the pint-sized Leventi had absolutely no desire to start this relationship off pretending to be a puppet.
Walking up to the door, she was seen inside and directed to the dining hall. The fitted, emerald silk was neither demure nor as provocative as the last dressing choice she’d made for Lord Rafail, but it did the job of complimenting her with simplicity rather than distracting. With her bravado carefully in place, she strode into the dining hall only to find it empty.
Sucking in a vexed sigh, she glanced around momentarily at a loss. She hated a break in routines and her uncle knew that. It left her having to be quicker on her feet. What was she supposed to do? Sit… No, that would be rude but… If he was going to be a little while then she had absolutely no intention of standing here and waiting for him when she’d been the one beckoned to his home. Glancing around one more time, she eased down into a chair. Even his chairs were uncomfortable. She bounced in the seat a moment trying to get comfortable. Did he design them to be uncomfortable?
A noise broke her train of thought causing her to still before she lept to her feet again prepared to see her uncle and this Thanasi woman. The servant slipped past her carrying a vase out of the room. The tension slipped from her as she brushed a rebellious curl out of her face. With one hand on her hip, she let out another sigh when the sound of someone else about to come through the door. Thinking it might be another servant she turned her attention to the tapestry on the wall. She reached up to pick a loose thread off of it. Maybe their guest had decided the Taengean air wasn’t to her liking and went home? Evangelina tried to flick the fine thread away but it seemed to persist in sticking to her fingers, not one to back down, she was still persisting in trying to rid her finger of the fine thread when her uncle and his guest made their appearance.
