To Lady Selene,
I can only apologise, my lady, for the delay in my reply. Not only have matters been incredibly busy in Midas, but I have found myself full of observations I might like to make to you and yet limited in what my position will allow me to take down on parchment. Letters are not always private and I feel myself torn between what I would like to scribe and what propriety dictates I should.
Firstly, I'm happy to report that my family seems once again whole. Any personal issues seem resolved between certain members of the royal House and there is once again peace in the Kotas manor.
I have also managed to, once again, take up all of the duties significant to my positions.
Each of these developments has brought me and my family a feeling of peace.
Things seem almost back to normal. Though, normal is an objective word from me when I now realise - having spent so much longer in my home city than I would have normally - how disconnected I am from my family. Distance and time will of course cause such a fracture and I do not regret the path my life has taken me on. But I admit to having not noticed the effect to this degree.
As I mentioned in my last letter, I travel with my sister soon, for Taengea. She is, of course, excited at the prospect of learning from the Lady Dorothea (I thought some archery lessons might be a nice distraction after the chaos has the westerly storm has caused here in Midas) and I find myself light-hearted at the idea of visiting Macendia (if you do not still reside in the capital by then). I would be glad to meet the rest of your family and perhaps bring Phobos with me. It seems almost fitting that he should be broken on Leventi land over the rocky terrain of Colchis.
May the Gods keep the Leventi family safe,
With affection,
Vangelis of Kotas
