Dearest friend,
I’ve never felt such joy as I did when I read that you were coming. I can not seem to stop smiling from your good news. My family has been teasing me unmercifully about my utter silliness over seeing you again though I can tell they are equal parts curiosity and happiness at the possibility of having a visitor. I know my mother longs for some news of Athenia, she speaks of her visits as a little girl often when she and my grandmother would visit her cousins and uncle. I fear I am not entirely sure that I wish to share you though. Petulant it may be but I can live with my petulance if it means that I can monopolize you.
My lord, I do yearn for your letters as often and as frequently as my greedy eyes can read them but you are a busy man… I thank the gods that you still manage to find time for me at all. Unlike myself, you have pressing matters at your fingertips. The most pressing matter I must attend is my uncle’s occasional dinner. I would wait for your letters if need be… never doubt that. Should you write, I shall reply…
With that I must embarrassingly admit, you have been my judge of all Athenians as of yet and I could not think higher of them by your standard. Such a kingdom to make a man such as yourself cannot be anything short of the praise I’ve given it and it’s people. My Taengean Flare Flair? Is that a pun about me catching my dress on fire? Haha! Maybe I should add witty to my list of traits of Athenians?
Beauty and spirit. That made me smile. I keep forgetting you have not yet met my cousins. They are not the easiest women to live in the shadows of, I fear. I am a simple country mouse by comparison… Were they not as good and as sweet as they were I’d despise them, yet they make that very difficult. You will be utterly charmed out of your senses by them…
You may rest certain that one day, I shall turn up on the shores of Athenia; if for no other reason than seeing Magnestis with my own eyes. It would bring me delight, and I shall firmly remind you of your offer of a tour incessantly. I am also going to insist upon meeting your family, so be prepared. It’s the least you can do after meeting mine. I’d like nothing more than to hide several of mine in the closet during your visit but I believe that might be highly frowned upon, no?
The only thing I wish you to bring is yourself. That is all that I need and all that I want. Your visit. I hope this letter finds it’s way to you before you embark on your journey back to Taengea and pray Poseidon guides you back to us safely. May the winds be in your favor!
With Love,
Lady E
