Selene,
I am as I was before, but better now that I have a missive from you. Mama has passed on the potions. I have forced myself to take a few, however, I’d much rather keep to the finer tastes of life and leave my health up to the Gods. I do thank you for the concern. You have always been thoughtful, even when your travels take you far away. I know it is important for you to be where you are, but I also wish you were here to keep me company. Your mother and sisters here might be sick of me soon and need some relief. I am currently attempting to get Imma, Nana, and Theo to perform a comedy - I fear it might end up a tragedy.
Unfortunately, Fotios had not informed me of such a momentous occasion. It pleases me greatly that you were able to find such hospitality in a place so rumored to be cold. This is only a reminder that appearances and rumors can always be deceiving. Please be sure to give my best regards to the Crown Prince and as forgiveness for my absence. It would be a blessing to meet someone who has finally been able to make my eldest speak of happiness.
You can trust in me. This can be our little secret. And you should know by now that title means very little to me so long as your happiness is secure. All the crown jewels in the world are little consolation if you must be sad day in and day out. I know exactly how Fotios and Mama would take the news. You would find yourself married within a month. I hope that you cherish the memories you make now, without the pressures of vows, heirs, and prying eyes of the people.
If marriage is what you want, be sure to be honest with the man. I would not want you to live with the regret that so many others do. I know that you say he is the kind to come up with this on his own, but you are smart. I am sure there are ways to show your intentions without being blunt.
Above all things, it pleases me to hear that you find joy. I can tell even with your words that you are anticipating his arrival. If they find the time to travel all the way to Macendia, my health is of little consequence. I’d like to meet the man you speak so highly of, Prince or not.
I look forward to your next letter. All my love, Papa
