Once he'd gotten over his initial belief that it was too hot and begun to appreciate the way the sunlight hit his golden locks and made them shine like the precious metal, his interest in Taengea had grown tenfold, and he had begun to venture out more often during his brief stay. Perhaps Father would allow him to stay a while longer as a little treat to himself. Maybe the man would - for unfathomable reasons - permit him to have a secondary residence in this Kingdom so that he would be able to visit whenever he willed it. Rafail would have liked that. He would have enjoyed the break.
However, perhaps Rafail had not thought things through as well as he had believed initially because, as he had made to visit the city of Vasiliadon that day, he must have made a wrong turn (though such things would never be admitted and were naturally to be blamed on Deucalion). The streets had darkened and become closer together, evidently more dangerous. He was lost and, dressed in such expensive garb with such a haughty look about him; the man felt nothing less than a target.
Urgh, someone would most certainly be suffering later on for allowing him to end up here, whether or not they were really to blame. First, however, Rafail needed to find a way out before he found himself murdered or robbed for all his finery.

Gods, Rafail loved this place.

The healer was about to start walking to his home from visiting a patient, when he spotted a man in a navy blue chiton, accompanied by someone he could only assume was his companion. Being the outstanding citizen of Taengea he was, Alek felt it was his duty to talk to the strangers, as they looked rather out of place amidst the darkness.
They were in an outlaying side street and admittedly, this wasn't the safest place for foreigners. Plus not many went out after dark. This was something out of the ordinary.
"Are you lost?" Alexandros called from down the small alleyway.

Oh, gods, Rafail was about to be murdered.
He was such a stunning image of nobility and wealth that any ruffian in the streets would have wanted to attack him and here was one clearly looking to do just that. The man dressed in obvious cheap white linens didn't exactly look like much - he was similar in stature to Rafail and yet seemed ever so slightly less muscular than the man he so clearly intended to attack - but you couldn't trust these peasants. More often than not, their looks would deceive you. He had screwed quite a few common girls who had proven too clingy at the end of it all and hadn't wanted to let go and their husbands. Some of those men might have looked pathetic but were far from it. It did not suit Rafail.
He eyed Deucalion, waiting for him to speak first and handle the situation himself. Poverty knew how to handle poverty. "Ahem...I was escorting his Lordship through the city and it appears I, as ever, made an error in my directions," the retainer answered as Rafail watched the pair of them interact, arms crossed and irritated pout on his lips. Neither of them had been attacked just yet, so he assumed it would be a safe interaction.
"I will pay," Rafail interjected, deciding Deucalion was useless as ever and taking matters into his own hands. "I require a guide around the city. You'll do, given that my staff insists upon being so incompetent."

Alek came a bit closer as the man's companion spoke. His lordship....? He definitely didn't belong here. Continuing to listen to the two men, the situation was bit of an odd one. He was healer, not a guide! But what was he to do? He didn't dare abandon the nobleman and his servant, that was like asking for a death sentence!
"It may be better to say that more quietly, you never know who may be listening, my Lord. I shall guide you. Where is it you need be?" His eyes glanced over them both now that he was nearer. They were both quite attractive, though the blond gave off an aura of wealth and power. His servant seemed to be eyeing him, but Alexandros said nothing of it.

What was that meant to mean? Rafail was inclined to believe that the man was implying he had some hidden companions who were all too ready to leap out and attack them. That said, it would have been a genuinely foolish move to reveal his fellow attackers if that had indeed been his plan and, as such, Rafail had opted to trust the man. The decision may have lacked much judgement, but he could hold himself in a fight if it became a necessity.
"Where need I be?" he repeated, an eyebrow raised in thoughtfulness. He supposed the only place he really had any obligation to be was at the Leventi home, though Rafail didn't expect he was meant to be there at all hours of the day. He had to take time off for himself, after all. Where had he been going? Well, no precise plans had been made but, presumably, he had wanted to return to the marketplace. Urgh, but he had been there already as well.
Glancing out past the man in question, as though trying to make a decision, he shrugged, giving him a proud look as though such questions did not bother him. "I do not care. Somewhere interesting, somewhere useful. A tour, if you must."
