The harbor was not a place that one would see the royal family at. Filled with incoming ships with sea-hauls and plenty of commercial trade coming in via merchants from near and far, the Athenian harbor was a busy one. Despite a tail end of a storm hitting their harbor a month or so ago, the rebuild process was quick to happen, and it didn't take long before it regained its usual bustle and pomp as people filled it again.
Due to its busy nature however, Emilia was rarely allowed to go. However she had gotten wind of a new shipment of rare jewelry and gems coming in, the latest batch of items from Colchis after a long break due to the main storm destroying a major part of the kingdom. Excited and eager to add more to her repertoire, plus wanting to see if there is anything she could add to the making of new crowns for herself and her sister, Emilia had somehow managed to convince Persephone to allow her - so long as she brought more guards with her.
And she did. With Nicholai as her shadow by her side, Emilia was astride her usual gelding as they arrived at the harbor, where she was quick to be noticed. Even if the young sixteen year old had decided on the lowkey color of beige and cream for her chiton of the day, and even eschewing the crown, her face was known far and wide, and people were eager to say hello. Their Meraki Princess was friendly after all, even if she was young.
The girl greeted a few here and there, but soon signalled at her guards to close ranks to prevent more people from blocking her way, so she could actually move on to the stalls of the visiting merchants who were peddling their wares. The smells of sea-hauls filled the air, from fishermen and boats coming in
"Helen, would you please go get some of the freshest fish that just came in? I'm eager to have some Arcanian Fish Stew tonight. Sent it ahead to the palace so the kitchen can have some prepared." Emilia directed at Helen, her head lady's maid who nodded and hurried off to do as told.
The princess picked up her skirts, and headed towards the shiniest table she saw, not even noticing anyone else around her as her eyes were immediately riveted by the emeralds and rubies on display for sale.

Elias didn't much care for spending time at the harbor. It stunk. The smell of dirty residents and fish filled the air and his nostrils. He was a man that prided himself on his cleanliness and stepping into the harbor proper was enough to make him feel instantly dirty. He'd need to bathe several times when he returned home to fully rid himself of the stench. Unfortunately, some things were necessary.
When news had reached him that the latest ship his family had been overseeing the building of was nearing the final stages, he'd needed to head to the harbor to give it a good looking over. There were standards and expectations that the Stravos family held high. If something was lacking in any of those, things would need to be changed. And though his father saw over the majority of the family businesses still, he'd brought Elias up to be able to fulfill any such things in his absence. He was fairly certain he was sent in his father's steed as a trial, a test to see if he was living up to such things. He was. Of that much he was sure.
Meandering about a bit idly, Elias had made his way to the docks and quickly took note of the ship being finished. From a distance, it looked well enough. The wood was a rich mahogany in hue and stood out with its pearly white sails tied up on the masts. Some where left loose, ready for him to inspect. It didn't take him much longer to board the ship and give it a thorough looking over. It was passable, for now. There were things needed tweaked, more attention to the finer details, but it would make due until the final inspection. It wouldn't pass such an inspection, however, if the things Elias had noted to a puny little scribe that had followed him around taking said notes weren't addressed. The head of the construction of it, however, listened rather intently and seemed to understand the things Elias had pointed out. And, with a firm handshake, Elias was on his way once more.
Hell bent on getting back to his home to bathe, he hardly noticed the widened eyes and distraction of those around him. His main priority had clearly become that of himself so whatever was drawing the attention of the harbor dwellers was of little consequence. That was, until he took note of the royal insignia among the crowds. That brought a raised from of attention from the man as he shifted the scabbard at his waist to be realigned properly along his hips.
It was doubtful Minas was there, he was likely buried away in his bed. That meant the sisters were there, or at least one of them. Both needed wooing. Both needed to appreciate him for who he was and what he would become. Because, whether they liked it or not, he was hell bent on seeing himself upon that throne when their weak father was finally gone from this world.
Plastering an oh so debonair and charming smile on his features, he easily weaved his way through the crowd to determine just who it was that was in the harbor. It didn't take long for him to realize it was Emilia. The sweet summer child of a girl. Though the charming smile remained, there was undoubtedly a mischievous glint to his dark eyes as he moved to intercept her path. He moved to make it seem as though it were an innocent collision as he began to pause in front of the table she was intent on only to step right into her path. He was quick to raise his hands as the collision was had so as to catch her before she should tumble to the ground.
Feigning shock as his eyes fell to meet her own, he offered that charming smile. "Many apologies, my lady," he said in a deep and calm tone, "Are you quite alright?"

Attention fully taken by the jewelry and ware for sale as it always was when Emilia was out, she barely noticed the body which had walked in front of her, and would have almost fallen had another not caught her by her arms, steadying her just in time. Her feet caught in her chiton, and for a brief moment, Emilia had to adjust to get herself out of the tangle of limbs and cloth at the bottom before she could straighten up.
The smile had been a practiced one that she pasted on her face as she stood up, thanks almost on her lips to be spoken to her savior. Afterall, she was a gracious princess, and no matter who it was, he or she had saved her from a tumble that would have been disgraceful due to her station and status, and in that Emilia was thankful.
The thanks died on her lips however, as her eyes swung and she immediately recognized who it was.
Oh, she barely exchanged any words with him, considering Elias would be busy in the Senate meetings rebelling against Persephone's bid to take the throne. The few times she's seen him, was in court gatherings and functions, as part of the royal family. But in what she heard was bad enough. No matter who he was, her gripe with him was that he had dared to go against her sister, someone Emilia had looked up to her whole life.
Her eyes flashed, and the smile melted away to a formal look as she gave a small bend of her head, almost not even acknowledging his presence. Her lady's maids were quick to step forward and begin to arrange her silks again while she addressed the other. "No harm, although I would not have needed your help at all had you watched where you were going, Lord Elias." she sniffed, a display of attitude that was rare for Emilia, usually a sweet natured and loving girl. Elias did bring out the worst in her, it seems. "I am... surprised that you would deign to come here my lord?"

Elias took note of the quickly fading smile on the little princess's face. He, apparently, was not someone she was all that pleased to see. Though he was oblivious as to why, he imagined her sister had little good to say of him. He was quite adamant against Persephone being able to take the throne after all. Surely they saw how foolish their little ploy was. They'd never succeed with a woman on the throne, not if they were to be taken seriously. A woman simply couldn't do what a man could do, especially one such as himself. Though he may love himself more than anyone or anything, he was still certain he'd be a force to be reckoned with should he be the one on the throne. It was only his rightful inheritance after all.
But that was all of little point to dwell on in that moment. If he won over his little cousin, surely she could help to bring his sister to her senses. And despite the fact the little princess was not putting on the airs of a prim and proper lady. He couldn't help the smirk that creased his features at her small display of attitude. "You are quite right, my lady," he said in the dame calm tones as before as his smirk gave way to a genuine smile, "It is entirely my fault and I truly am sorry. I can assure you it will never happen again." Even if he wasn't entirely at fault. She'd been much too focused on the table with all the pretty jewels and trinkets that she hadn't even seem him cross into her path. Not that he was about to point that out. There was a time and a place for such things and it was currently not the right time. Women could be such fickle creatures after all. Point out the error of their ways and they were likely to get moody and he didn't have the time for that.
"Ah but sometimes I must," he responded to her surprise of his being there, "One of our new ships is near being finished. I needed to be sure that it was up to our standards. We wouldn't want another ship going down, after all." Having released her by then, he stood with his hands held behind his back, smiling down at her with an affection of sorts. He made a point to look far from intimidating as he stood there in front of her, trying to appear as cordial and pleasant as he possibly could. "But if it should allow for me to run into one of our lovely princesses," he started, a twinkle in his dark eyes as his gaze drifted slowly over her face, "Then I shall have to make it more of a habit."

Curse her and her liking for men and their handsome faces. As much as logic told her she should dislike Elias of Stravos, what with his actions against her own sister and family and the grief he was causing her father even as King Minas's health deteriorated, when he smiled, Emilia found her hard and tense posture softening to the genuinety she spotted in the smile. Attempting her best to still appear unbothered, she sniffed and averted her look from him, not wanting him to see the faint blush that dusted her skin, thanking heavens her tanned skin hid most of it.
Appearing only to half listen to him, the young princess feigned a look of mock surprise, as she took a step away from the young lord to maintain her decorum once her maid has finished dusting off her silken chiton. What was it about him? It wasn't fair, how someone who was so dastardly from what she's heard, was yet so charming, and was, Emilia dared say, one of the finest male specimens she's ever came across.
And everyone knew Emilia was a sucker for a pretty male face.
His words and the twinkle in his eye made her heart skip, and internally, Emilia scolded herself when her heart rate increased. Taking a deep breathe, she feigned an irritated look at him. "Do you speak like this to all the young ladies you come across, Lord Elias? Then perhaps you should find it in you to sweeten the way you treat my sister in court. Tis most unbecoming of you." she finally spilled in a way much like a female tigress would protect her cubs. Her hazel eyes flashed with the anger that warred with her want to flirt with the male.
Curse her own nature.
