The city of Vasiliadon this morning was veiled with the thickest of mists. A canopy of clouds had rolled in from the sea and had enveloped the capital. The everyday familiar sights and sounds of the bustling city were quieter, people still hawked their wares in the street but it was done with less vigor. You couldn’t see but only a few feet in front of you and it made the world difficult to navigate for those who lived here, but Evangelina could count on her hand the number of times she was in Vasiliadon in a month. Evie, her mother, and her brother had decided to join their father on this particular trip. It was an opportunity to visit with her cousins and perhaps pick up a few new songs to sing at the market.
Stubbornly refusing to let a little bit of fog ruin her plans, she’d ventured out. It hadn’t occurred to her that it might worsen once out. Separated from Byrony, she ambled along the streets, broadcasting the fact that she was separated and alone would not have done her any favors. Her time in the mist was starting to soak her pinned up chestnut hair and the coppery chiton she wore.
Up ahead, she knew the Naos to Aphrodite stood. She wasn’t one of the favored Leventi daughters but the Goddess had shown favor to her family with more than one blessing. Perhaps, she’d find a bit of shelter there for a few moments until she sorted out her game plan or until the mist cleared a little and she could return to the manor.
Sidestepping the commoners selling the roses and myrtle to place at the statue’s feet, she stepped up inside the temple. It appeared that the fog had made it a slow day to worship too. Slipping her hand into the pocket of her chiton she fumbled for a moment and produced enough coin to make a marked offering to the Goddess of beauty and love. Roses and myrtle were fine but coins… they were something better, she thought.
Laying the coins at the Goddess’ feet, she turned to leave and collided with a taller, more solid frame. Her hands reached out to steady herself grasping onto his shoulders. Tilting her pointy little chin up, she met a very familiar face and heat rushed to her cheeks. Lord Nikos. A cheeky grin appeared on her lips, “That was the fastest I think one of my offerings has ever been noticed…” She’d filled out some since the last time she’d seen him, though she was still a bit colty, long legs and long arms and hardly the curves of the Goddess statue behind her. She bit her bottom lip, her large chocolate-colored eyes blinking puckishly at him, “Escaping the fog or are you here for more reverent reasons?”

Nikos of Condos was most certainly not a celibate man, having more than a few lovers over the years since his maturity. But for some reason, Nik had not taken a lover in a few months, and in fact did not feel the urge to seek one out. Perhaps he was bored. Perhaps there just weren't any pleasing women in capitol or Doralis that he had not burned through. Or maybe... he'd just lost his touch. Either way, Nik was not enjoying this dry spell, this lack of... virility he was experiencing. And so, he set out that morning to make offerings to the goddess Aphrodite in the hopes that she would show favor on him and his worries would be ended.
He'd gotten up early at his estate in Doralis, dressed in a chiton of Condos blue that matched his eyes and red himation draped over his shoulders as it was a bit cooler outside that day what with the mist being so thick. But that was not going to stop Nikos from his plans for the day. As he was going to the temple today, the Condos Lord chose to only have one servant accompany him to the capitol, other than the driver of his carriage of course. Normally he would have ridden one of his fine horses, but the mist was just too thick and he did not want to be soaked through by the time he reached the temple after hours of riding.
The carriage ride was quiet, if a little bumpy, and slow because the driver did not want to cause the horses to stumble into a hole in the path. This left much too much time for Nik to ponder on things, and he was entirely too restless by the time they reached the square. Before the carriage had even come to a complete stop, he practically launched himself from the cramped quarters and out into the mist. What had been mist when the journey began was now a slow and steady soaking of sprinkling rain. Cursing under his breath, he rushed for the steps leading into the temple, ordering his servant to stay behind as he did not really need an escort into a temple. As he approached the statue, a dark haired young woman turned too fast for him to change his own course and she bumped into his chest. His hands instantly went to her sides to steady her even as she gripped his arms for support. I'm terribly sorry, my lady." he apologized, immediately.
'That was the fastest I think one of my offerings has ever been noticed… Escaping the fog or are you here for more reverent reasons?'
That face... he recognized that face. But from where? It was when she bit her bottom lip in that thoughtful way that it donned on him who he was looking at - and holding in his arms. Evangelina Leventi. Well, well, well. It had been at least five years since he'd spent an afternoon with this one - the better part of it in a tree, no less! She had been but a girl then. Now, though, it appeared that she had grown well over the last few years. "Mm... reverent ones. But escaping the rain is a happy benefit." he smiled down at her teasingly, that signature charm lighting up his face. He stepped back from her, realizing what the embrace in such a public place would look like. He bowed low to her, coming back up with that grin on his lips. "Its a pleasure to see you again... Lady Evangelina. I was not aware that you were in the capitol."

Lady Evangelina. I was not aware that you were in the capitol."
Standing there in the quiet of the temple the only sounds to be heard were those of the rain falling outside but it was the warmth of his hands that steadied her, pulling her close and keeping her standing up right that caused her mind to blank and her body to relax softly against his. ‘Mm... reverent ones. But escaping the rain is a happy benefit.’ His voice vibrated like a thick red wine pulling you deeper into it’s smooth warmth. With a slow sweep of her eyelashes, she lifted her dark gaze up to look up and meet his lighter ones from beneath her lashes.
Evangelina knew she should have been the one to step away the moment that she was certain that she wasn’t going to topple over but temptation had always been something she’d struggled with. A passionate and curious creature by nature this seemed like Aphrodite had dropped this gift into her lap. Her body swayed every so slightly into him as his teasing smile worked pulling some imaginary string on her, but then his hands were gone and her breath hitched as he stepped back and bowed to her, without a second though her body shifted into gear and dropped into a curtsy.
‘It's a pleasure to see you again... Lady Evangelina. I was not aware that you were in the capitol.’ One corner of her lip curved up slowly, revealing the dimples she’d grown into. Yes. It was indeed a pleasure to see the Condos heir again too.
Sinking her teeth into her full bottom lip to hide her smile, her eyes flickered to the side, “My father’s in town for some business and I thought I’d accompany him to visit with my cousins.” She managed to breath the words out, her pulse jumping in her neck as she drew her gaze back up at him. Did he think she’d grown much over the last few years? Some of the colty angles had softened but she was still lean, athletically built due to her time on her father’s estate riding. The last several years the two funny bumps on her chest had filled out a little more taking some of the childish form away from her. The coppery chiton offset her sun kissed skin, dark eyes, and reddish brown hair. It might have been a touch too long, try as she might… she would never be one of those tall, curvy, goddess looking creatures that her cousins were but she was still a Leventi beauty nonetheless.
The corner of her mouth lifted again in a puckishly teasing smile and her thick lashes grazed her cheek, “I should probably not keep you, my lord… Aphrodite needs your prayers.” Her lips had formed a smirk that might have given the impression that her words were anything but sincere. The Condos heir had never needed Aphrodite’s blessings, he managed quite well from all the things she’d heard. Maybe she wasn’t out and about in society as much as her cousins were but it didn’t stop her from hearing how he burned through the young women in Taengea. The thoughts of that warmed her from inside out and she found her dark eyes boldly meeting his again and a faint blush stole onto her cheeks, “It was a pleasure to see you again, Lord Nikos. I hope it’s not another few years before we see each other again.”
It was still raining and to be honest, she’d not thought it through very well but it was her feeble attempt at being polite and not taking up too much time of a busy man’s attention. Shifting, she moved to step around him and her dark eyes grazed over his mouth slightly. Was he really the wolf everyone said he was? And did he really bite? Her teeth caught her lip at the thought. She’d wondered if in the time since they’d seen one another last if she’d outgrown her feelings for him but seeing him here, it was evident she was in just as much danger now as she had been the first time she’d met him.

’My father’s in town for some business and I thought I’d accompany him to visit with my cousins.’ That smile, with just a hint of the dimples she’d had as a girl, and the look in her dark eyes. Oh, the places a man’s imagination could go with that. She had certainly grown into herself over these past years. ”Ah, well, give my regards to Lord Konstanos when you see him?” While Nikos often held covert verbal battles with Fotios, and refused to buy Levnti bred horses from Georgios, Nik had had very little to do with the third Leventi brother over the years. ’I should probably not keep you, my lord… Aphrodite needs your prayers. It was a pleasure to see you again, Lord Nikos. I hope it’s not another few years before we see each other again.’
Nikos was unsure if it was the look in her eyes, the blush of her cheeks, or the tone of her voice, or even the memory of their short interaction years ago and her obvious crush on him even then. Or maybe it was the goddess herself guiding his hand. When Evangelina moved to step around him, the baron lifted his arm out wide to block her path just before she passed him altogether. He turned his head to the side and looked down at her with a sly smirk. When he spoke his voice was low, for her ears only. ”Forgive me, Lady. If you have you have nothing pressing for your attention, might I ask for you to wait while I pay my respects to the goddess? Then perhaps we may wait out the rain together?” He lifted a brow as he waited for her to answer his invitation. His blue eyes sparkling with mischief. They could wait out the misty rain here in the temple, but Nikos hoped to convince her to at least take a ride with him in his carriage. Perhaps he could offer to take her to her uncle’s estate.

Dipping her head, a chestnut tendril fell down around her cheek as a guarded smile formed. It was the way he was looking at her. It warmed her from inside out… it was like he knew what she looked like without the fabric under her chiton on. She was at an age of curiosity, men stared and examined her much as they did the other Leventi women. Would this one be prettier then the first two? Would she be pretty at all? They fell short of opening her mouth and checking the length of her teeth. Sometimes, it was irksome but with Lord Nikos it shot a thrill of adrenaline through her.
He was a man who knew women, did he like what he saw? Her teeth chewed on her bottom lip as she slid a side glance from beneath her sweeping lashes up at him as he spoke. Politeness. This was just polite conversation but there seemed to be a dab of danger lurking just under the surface of such polite words. It made her chest hum with life.
“Of course, my lord,” Her voice thickened every so subtly. Konstanos wouldn’t be pleased with the regards, but that was neither here nor there, and more importantly he wasn’t here at this moment.
As he seemed to be of a mind to say his prayers, the pint-sized Leventi decided to make her exit stage left. That was, until his arm came out smoothly blocking her path. Something between a thrill of pleasure and a bit indignation flickered across her face at him from blocking her path. Her breath caught in her throat as he spoke so low… so quietly to her, ‘Forgive me, Lady. If you have nothing pressing for your attention, might I ask for you to wait while I pay my respects to the goddess? Then perhaps we may wait out the rain together?’ Her mink brown eyes flitted from his face to the doorway and as if the fates were answering for her the rain grew heavier pelting down outside.
She smiled faintly and drew her gaze back to him. Her throaty voice dipped deliciously low for him, “I’d have been far less forgiving if you’d sent me out in the rain, my lord.” Drawing her eyes back out to the steps outside, a slow sigh escaped her. “Say your prayers, I won’t be going anywhere anytime soon I am afraid.”

Nikos licked his lower lips and let his teeth graze it right behind as he waited for the Lady Leventi to answer his request. He heard the rain pick up outside and glanced over his shoulder. And when the heavier rainfall seemed to be what decided the choice for Evangelina, he gave a silent thank you to Demeter for her help. He looked back to her, smiling at her quip. He'd never send a woman out into the rain like that. "Thank you, my Lady," he said, inclining his head to Evangelina and finally removing his arm from her path.
He moved away from her, towards the bigger than life likeness of the goddess of beauty. He removed fresh flower petals from a pocket of his chiton, along with a few gold coins. He knelt before the alter and placed his offerings at the feet of the marble statue. He stayed there like this, pondering the reasons why he'd come here today... and running into the Leventi girl. Course she wasn't really a girl anymore. He smirked at this, and wondered if anyone had kissed her yet. But this brought his mind to the last meeting he'd had with Fotios Leventi's niece. HIs father had caught them in a tree together. It had been innocent, she'd only been a girl then. But, Nikolias had insisted that any Leventi girl should be the last girl Nikos should be even remotely alone with. The two families were strained enough with each other. More so now, than back then, Nik supposed.
But what were the odds that she would be here at the same time he arrived? Nikos had to take this as a sign from the goddess he'd come to pay homage to.
He stood, thanking the goddess, and returned to Evangelina who was nearer the door watching the rain. "How have you been, Evangelina?" he asked as he came to stand beside her, looking out at the fogged and rainy day.

It was the steady drumming of the rain that sent a tingle down her spine and not the man who she’d loved almost as steadily for the last five years, or that’s what she’d told herself. Pressing her lips together to fight off the overeager smile at seeing him again, she let him step away with the nod of her head to say his prayers.
While he prayed, she stepped towards the doorway and leaned her small feminine frame against the doorway and stared out at the rain. Outside, things were being washed clean. This sort of rain always made her feel hope. It was like watching a rebirth of something new. The world would be fresher, newer, when the clouds parted and that fierce Taengean sun shined down upon them again.
In the coming years, Evangelina would grow into herself as much then as she’d changed from the girl he’d met to now, not that she knew that. The hard, awkward angles of her childhood had softened considerably and the considerable hours she spent out working with the Leventi horses had toned her pint-sized frame into that of a lithe athlete. Her hair would be fashionably lighter in a few more months of being out in the sun but right now was a deep cinnamon brown but in another month it’d lighten to rich chestnut brown. She never would have that flaming auburn hair her mother had but at least the wild hints of red were something…
Hearing him thank the goddess of beauty and love, she tilted her head a little expectantly waiting for him to approach. The corner of her lips curved up and her dark eyes swept almost coyly to the floor as he spoke, ‘How have you been, Evangelina?’ It was the sort of question everyone asked but no one really wanted a complex answer for. Sliding a curious glance over at him, she hid a small smile at the familiarity of using simply her name, “Oh, you know… waiting for the demand on rock collections to increase in value so that I can recoup some of my losses.”
It was a tease considering they’d first met one another she’d been hiding under a table pretending to be rock hunting. It’d only become more embarrassing as she’d had to make the story seem more real by giving him a rock. What’d she know about rocks? Other than if she was about to take a fall off her horse, look for somewhere where the were none.
Her tongue came out and softly grazed the length of her bottom lip before she turned to meet his gaze and a crooked little smile formed on her lips as a thought occurred to her, “My, my… the rain looks to be picking up a bit.” Her puckish smile widened and she shrugged a little, “We might be here a while.” Shifting, so that the wall was to her back with her hands wedged behind her she faced him, her gaze taking a moment to rake over him looking for differences. Lines by his eyes? Or maybe that extra weight men seemed to gain as they aged. “And you? How have you been?”

’Oh, you know… waiting for the demand on rock collections to increase in value so that I can recoup some of my losses.’
Nikos couldn’t fight back that smile and soft deep laugh that bubbled up his throat. An image of a younger Evangelina peering up at him from under a table, dirt on her face and a rock being held out in offering, flashed through his mind. The first time he’d ever laid eyes on the girl. It had been an innocuous enough meeting, nothing to really stand out about it. Except that he’d ended up in a tree with her, and she’d amused him with her feisty attitude. He wondered if she still had that spunk? ”Well… rock collecting. It’s a lost art, really. You may be waiting a while.” What he didn’t mention was that he had kept that rock she’d given him. It sat on the mantle in his private chambers, at his home in Doralis. He wasn’t sure why he’d kept it. Maybe as a reminder of the argument he and his father had gotten into when the elder Condos had found Nikos in a tree with the girl. Or perhaps she’d left an impression on him that day.
Nikos broke his gaze from the Leventi woman to peer out at the rain. ”It does appear that way, doesn’t it,” he commented. He crossed his arms over his chest and swept his gaze around the temple. It seemed everyone else had made it out of there before the rain had picked up. They were alone. At least for the moment. Nik leveled his blue eyes on Evangelina as she asked how he had been. HE tilted his head to the side and smiled crookedly down at her. ”I have been well. The vineyards in Doralis turned out a good crop this year. I had planned to walk the market while I was here today. But…” he gestured at the dreary day before looked back to her. ”At least I am privileged with good company.” His smile grew, and his eyes shone with a mischievous light. He stepped forward, closer to her. ”How long do you expect to be the city?” he asked her curiously.

Warmth spread through her at his palatable, deep, rumbling laugh. It infectiously brought a smile to her own lips for the briefest of moments before her head dipped as she brushed a wild lock of her chestnut hair out her face, tucking it behind her ear. She wasn’t the sort of beautiful that her cousins Selene or Theodora were, she was more striking, but those that did take the time to notice her never realized that. For such a small creature, she held a larger presence then she’d yet to even tap into.
‘Well… rock collecting. It’s a lost art, really. You may be waiting a while.’
Sweeping her dark, mink brown eyes up from under her lashes up to meet him again as he spoke of rock collecting and lost art and the wait. The corner of her mouth curved up, a spark appearing in her eyes. “I am quite patient in my pursuit, my lord. If everyone knew the joys of rock collecting, where would the value be?” Her mouth twitched as she held his gaze for a moment longer than necessary before flashing him an all too perceptive smile and looking away.
The subject changed mundanely to the rain for a moment, and she tried not to focus on the shift of his body as he crossed his arms over his chest, and the desire to glance over and eagerly run her gaze over the lines of his shoulders and chest. She knew all too well that ladies fell at the Condo’s heirs feet. She’d heard other ladies talk, but she wasn’t going to stumble all over him. She wasn’t going to fall so easily at the man’s feet.
‘I have been well. The vineyards in Doralis turned out a good crop this year. I had planned to walk the market while I was here today. But…’ This drew her eyes to him, he’d leveled his gaze on her and she couldn’t help feeling just a little bit dizzy at the effect of it. Her heart ached for him to notice her, to love her… Blessed Aphrodite, please help me, Evangelina sighed silently to herself. He gestured at the weather outside but she didn’t shift her eyes away from him, ‘At least I am privileged with good company.’
Her cheeks flushed and smiled before she bent her head to hide her amusement again. She’d known flattery before, she was a Leventi and it wasn’t the first time someone had ever tried to play footsie with her under the table. Composing her silly feeling of happiness, she looked back up to find his cool gaze settled back upon her. Trouble sparkled in his eyes. Oh, he was delicious… Unconsciously, her tongue dipped out to lick her lips before she looked away as her dimpled smile spread on her lips.
He stepped forward and she was afraid to breath or else he’d realize she was not nearly as interesting as he thought. Her smile slipped off her lips as she looked up at him with big, brown doe eyes. Her heart raced and her mouth parted, she wanted something witty to come out but she felt momentarily hypnotized. No, this wasn’t how she wanted to appear to him… this was too easy. Blinking she reined herself in and pressed herself a little further into the wall before a carefree smile was born and she shrugged. Her voice dropped softly, “Here today, gone tomorrow. You know how business is…”

You know how business is…”
'I am quite patient in my pursuit, my lord. If everyone knew the joys of rock collecting, where would the value be?'
Nikos was pleased that the Leventi lady seemed to have retained her quick wit - she'd displayed it so prominently before. Part of the reason he'd enjoyed his time at the horse race that day. But the way she said it... Was he picking up something hidden between the lines? Nikos had enough experience with infatuation toward him to know that she'd been crushing on him before. Was she still? "Have you become an expert in rocks as well as horses then, my lady?" His smile was wide as he teased, bringing up their conversation of years before.
When she shifted away from him, pressing herself into the wall, Nikos rose a brow, but made no furthur move. "Yes, I am familiar with the demands of time when trade deals are in motion. I guess I shall have to be content with what time you grace me with while you are here." He let out a slow breath, letting his sharp blue gaze sweep over her in full. She really had grown up in the last few years. "I would beseech you walk or ride with me, but there is no telling how long the rain shall last. Perhaps the lady would agree to a carriage ride through the countryside?" His tone was innocent enough - slight disinterest to match her own tone, as if he were simply discussing his plans for the rest of the day with one of his sisters. Two could play at that game. Evangelina was a Leventi after all. A Condos must tread lightly.

Nothing and everything ran through her mind. The unmistakable twinkle in his eyes as they looked at her made her pulse jump as her mind instantly wondered what it was he was thinking about. His smile wide and teasing made her toes curl just a little. If she responded to a simple smile like this what would she do with a kiss or a gentle stroke of his hand.
‘Have you become an expert in rocks as well as horses then, my lady?’
The pint-sized Leventi looked up from beneath her bristly long lashes, her gaze focused on the way his lips moved as he spoke. A dimpled smile taunted him for a moment before she pulled her gaze away and focused over his shoulder with a mocking shrug.
“Four or five years is a long time. A girl can learn quite a few things in that span,” There wasn’t any mistake of the sauciness in her tone. She was allowed her secrets after all. The corner of her mouth curled again in amusement and she brought her charged warm gaze back to him and added, “Maybe even mastered a few of them in that time too.”
As the conversation shifted, she did too almost restlessly against the wall of the temple. ‘Yes, I am familiar with the demands of time when trade deals are in motion. I guess I shall have to be content with what time you grace me with while you are here.’ Her teeth caught her bottom lip to prevent an almost gleeful smile. Looking up at him from her lashes again, she gave another mock shrug playing indifferent but teetering on the inside like a child excited about a piece of sweets.
He raked a gaze over her and felt her body come alert, it was coming alive for the first time. He wasn’t looking at her like she was a little girl. ‘I would beseech you walk or ride with me, but there is no telling how long the rain shall last. Perhaps the lady would agree to a carriage ride through the countryside?’ Her eyebrows lifted. She should say no. She should definitely say no to that but… Oh, when had she ever said no to some sort of temptation. She loved playing with fire and Lord Nikos was definitely fire. She was anxious to show him how much she’d grown up. She wasn’t that little girl with dirt smudges on her face anymore.
Tilting her head she looked up at him again, “Sounds very risque… It’s a terrible idea you know…” Shifting against the stone again, she found herself swaying just a little closer towards him. “Of course, it’d be terribly impolite of me to refuse a ride home in this rain.” Her nose feigned a little wrinkle as she pretended to be weighing her options.
Taking a deep breath she brushed past him to step daringly out into the rain and glance over her shoulder to see if he was following, “You happen to be in luck… I’ve always liked terrible ideas.” The rain was wetting her coppery gown causing it to cling a little to the soft, lush curves she was still getting used to, “Come on, let’s go, Condos.”

'Maybe even mastered a few of them in that time too.'
Oh, indeed, Nikos could think of a few things she might have 'mastered' in the last few years. But of course, it wouldn't be proper for him to ask that. She'd just be coming of age, and a proper Lady of her station wouldn't do well to be caught or to let t be known that she had participated in such... activities. But that didn't stop his imagination from wandering.
The baron nodded, lowering his gaze to the floor, his consent that it was absolutely a terrible idea. One that he hoped she wouldn't take too much offense to him suggesting in the first place. Her next sentence had him smiling. "Of course, just as I would be terribly remiss if I did not offer the Lady Leventi a safe and dry way home. Such an act would likely tarnish both our reputations." The smile, and the spark in his eyes, would let her know just how not serious he was in suggesting such a thing, but that it was merely an opening, and excuse they both could offer if they were seen and questioned.
'You happen to be in luck… I’ve always liked terrible ideas.'
Nikos laughed at this, trailing after her as she stepped out of the temple and into the rain. "I'm rather fond of terrible ideas myself." He caught up to her, slipping his own himation from off his shoulders and flinging it over her to offer more cover for her from the rain. "My carriage is just this way." he told her, resting his hand in the middle of her back to guide her in the right direction - off to the left of the temple where his carriage and retainers waited. One of the men opened the door of the covered carriage for them, and Nikos made a gesture to him as the lady climbed inside. A gesture that his loyal servant would would understand as Nikos wanting to be alone in the carriage with the woman, and so the servant did not follow them inside. Instead he secured the door - Nikos telling him aloud that he wished to take the scenic route to bring the Lady Leventi to her uncle's estate here in the city - and joined the driver on the bench in the front.
Nikos settled into the seat opposite Evangelina, smiling widely, warmly, at her as moments later the carriage started the roundabout journey of taking her home.

Her smile only widened as he nodded his head and lowered his gaze to the floor. She gave a toss of her head sending the rebellious chestnut curls bobbing around her cheeks. She was the queen of bad ideas. As she spoke again, his head came up and a smile curled on his lips. ‘Of course, just as I would be terribly remiss if I did not offer the Lady Leventi a safe and dry way home. Such an act would likely tarnish both our reputations.’ There was a deeper interest in his eyes and it shot a thrill through her entire being. How long had she dreamed of him looking at her like that? Was she really awake right now? Her heart raced. The world could wait, right now the pint-sized Leventi had every intention of finding out just what that spark in his gaze meant.
She deliberately splashed through a small puddle before she spun around at the sound of his laughter to look at him and shoot him a mischievous grin. He stepped towards her, slipping his himation around her to guide her towards his carriage. The span of his hand softly resting on the small curve of her back. Her face warmed slightly and she bent it to smile at the ground as she hurried the few steps towards the covered carriage.
With a quick glance back at the temple, a small sigh escaped her. Today was turning out completely different than what she’d imagined. Her teeth caught her bottom lip and up into the carriage she went without another thought. As he settled into the seat opposite of her, his smile widened and she felt her own lips lifting a little.
Shifting in the seat, she crossed her legs as she exposed just a tiny bit of her thigh. Tilting her head, causing those curls to shift again against her cheek. Her dimples appeared, “Do you have any more terrible ideas?”

Evangelina shifted in her seat, her dress riding up and showing off a bit of her thigh. Nikos let his tongue slide across his lower lip, that spark, that hunger, growing his his blue eyes. Did she shift the fabric of her clothes on purpose? Or was it a happy accident? Either way he was pleased with the sight. It lent further credence to the fact that she was no longer a little girl. He'd wondered back then, with that fire that had already been evident in her personality, what she would be like as a grown woman. Perhaps it was time to find out. He was already enjoying what he was seeing so far on this chance meeting.
'Do you have anymore terrible ideas?'
He gave a breathy, quiet chuckle. "I might." He cocked his head to the side, his gaze sweeping over her, finally landing on those adorable dimples of hers. He took a deep breath and moved quickly. He pushed out of his seat on the opposite side of the carriage, standing yet still bent he turned on his heels and sat down again right next to Evangelina. "You look cold. Did you get too wet from the rain, my lady?' It was an obvious ruse, an excuse to get closer to her in the privacy of the covered carriage. He lifted a hand, the backs of his knuckles caressing across her cheek, as if he was merely checking the temperature of her skin. This was indeed a terrible idea. She could shove him away. She could scream for the driver to halt the horses, and jump form the carriage. She could accuse him of many things that would forever tarnish the name Condos. But Nikos had always had a weakness for beautiful young women. "Would you like for me to find a way to warm you up, Evangelina? There may be a blanket under one of the seats."

The carriage creaked and rocked as it sloshed it’s way towards the countryside taking a scenic long way to the Leventi Manors. It was a terribly wicked thing she was doing but it made her heart bound and the blood rush in her veins. She was playing with fire and she loved it. She’d been waiting for him, waiting to show him how much she’d grown up and if that appreciative spark in his eyes at the shift of her dress was anything to go by she was succeeding and only fed her ego. Her tongue came out to softly touch the spot on her lip that she’d been nibbling nervously at. The bangle bracelet with charms shifted on her wrist as she reached up and brushed a rebellious strand of her away from her face to smile to his reply of possibly having more terrible ideas.
His bright eyes burned like the blue in a flame, scorching the very fabric right off of her. She was pretty sure he looked at her like he knew exactly what she looked like without the wet coppery silk clinging to the soft curves of her frame. At fifteen, she wasn’t exactly blossoming into the lush curves of her Aunt Eirini but there was a lean, soft, youthfulness to her curves. Shapely calves and toned thighs from her hours astride the Leventi colts she’d started. The sharpness of the angles of her face resembled that of a fox including her large mink brown eyes that tilted up just a little bit on the far corners and a tempting curve to her lips. She wasn’t beautiful the way that Selene or Theodora was but you wouldn’t notice that if you noticed the puckish spark there in her gaze, regardless she was striking and unforgettable all on her own.
Her thick, sweeping lashes brushed down against her cheek as a borderline sinful smile roused from her as he shifted onto the seat. ‘You look cold. Did you get too wet from the rain, my lady?’ Sliding a sideways look up to him, her cheeks flushed warmly as he reached up to touch them with his knuckles causing her breath to hitch and her lips to part. ‘Would you like for me to find a way to warm you up, Evangelina? There may be a blanket under one of the seats.’
Yes. Warm me up. Those were the words that were screamed internally but they never made it out of her mouth. She’d turned her body towards him just when he’d stroked her cheek like some sort of magician. Looking up at him, she was primed to answer him when the carriage lurched in a deep rut sending her sprawling into his lap with a rather indignant ‘umph’ noise.
She shifted starting to pull herself back up when the carriage jerked again and sent her back unceremoniously into his lap. This wasn’t how she’d planned to show him exactly what sort of temptress she’d grown into. This position had it’s advantages but it simply wasn’t what she’d imagined when she’d planned the seduction of Lord Nikos in her mind.
Pulling her head back she looked up at him and offered an apologetic smile as she shifted against him but not exactly pulling herself away from him. “I beg your pardon, but the road seems to have gotten just a little bumpy.” That was the smoothest thing she could think of to say. Her brain had effectively stopped working with the feel of his warm body pressed up against hers.
