Silanos lifted his attention from where he was rummaging in his pack to look upon the red-head. Her voice held some some sort of..worry, and he couldn’t understand at first why she was prattling on about permission. Until he realised blearily that she was concerned about being caught poaching, and he shook his head, grinning wryly to himself. “ Forget it” he waved a hand dismissively. “ I’m not the baron, thats my brother thank fuck, but if anyone asks you can tell them I gave you permission. Do you remember my name? If you have to give it?”
He was busy packing the pipe, and it saved him from having to acknowlege her response to what else he’d said. He didn’t even know why he’d said it at all. She was a stranger and gods knows he didnt want to discuss his mixed up feelings with her. And he might’ve laughed and pointed out how it didnt feel very fucking calm when he was about to be savaged by a dog, but then she alluded it to herself and the lord slanted an amused glance toward her. Silanos cast his eyes around and jerked his head towards a flattish outcrop of rock where they might sit.
“Do you want to sit?” He wandered over without waiting for an answer, and finding himself a comfortable perch, stretched long legs out before him and leant back against the stone at his back. He lit the pipe, took a couple of draws to let it catch and then extended it toward his odd companion. It ws something at least that Artemis didnt deny them all pleasures.
“So...your vows to your Goddess” he began conversationally before he blew out a plume of smoke skywards. There was curiosity evident in his tone and the sly gaze he fixed upon Aedea. “ Does that preclude...all sexual activity? Or are there work arounds?”

Aedea was truly relieved when Silanos told her that he could say his name if asked about the poaching. It wouldn’t be the first time the huntress got in trouble for poaching, and while most of the time she managed to hide and flee, she was someone easily located because people knew she was a priestess. It always was up to Kallista to save her ass, arguing that no man could own the product of nature that belonged to Artemis. It worked, but the problem was always brought up again.
“Yes. Lord Silanos of Valaoritis”, she repeated, making sure to say ‘lord’ at the beginning. The civilized folk seemed really worried about their titles and epithets… even Kallista, who was called High Priestess. Aedea didn’t demand everyone call her ‘Huntress Aedea’, that would be silly, but she accepted people calling her ‘sister’.
At his offer, Aedea looked at her bow. She was on a mission to hunt, but… she had the whole day, and even the night if she was crafty enough. Truly, nothing bad would come if he sat alongside this man to enjoy a smoke, so she slung her bow across her back and sat down beside him. Her dogs, upon seeing their mistress relax, they scattered around to sniff, stroll and just generally lollygag.
She took the pipe and took a long exhale, coughing a bit of the smoke. This was good, she realized… better than the herbs she usually smoked. She looked at him at his question… why was everyone obsessed by their chastity bows? So she said bluntly, “Yes. All. No ‘workaround’”, and she made it clear with her gaze that there was no way he would get a different answer.

Well good, it seems Aedea possessed some powers of retention, as she obediently recited Sil’s name back at him. Timaeus would probably choke on his wine if he heard that Sil had been going around giving permission to crazed women to hunt on Valaoritis lands, but there was something sort of satisfying about it anyway. And she was one lone hunter who would likely move on in a day or so anyway.
It wasn’t as if Silanos was particularly bothered if the woman chose to stay or go. He had set out on his own quite happily, and she was not exactly a thrilling conversationalist, though he could admit to finding some fascination in the wild girl. Once he was settled, he slanted a sideways glance at her, watched her seem to deliberate a moment before coming to join him. When she did, he passed over the pipe and watched her through half lidded eyes as she went to answer his question.
It seemed a droll existence indeed if she were supposed to abstain from everything, and Sil let a lazy smile spread over his face at her answer and the stern look she sent him. “Oh don’t worry. I wasn’t offering or anything. It was just honest curiosity. Surely it's part of your duties to spread the teachings of your Goddess isn’t it? So you should indulge me?”
He raised a brow as if daring her to argue with what was sound logic in his opinion, before he leant over to pluck the pipe back from her fingers, taking another long steady drag as he waited expectantly to be regaled with the teachings of Artemis. He wondered if she needed some prompting.
“For example..could you kiss someone? Is that against the Goddess’ word?”
Silanos thought the Gods rather fickle and treacherous beings, who toyed with the lives of the mortals as they liked. They gave life, they took it away without even blinking. He found it hard to imagine putting so much faith in the benevolence of a single Goddess. But then everything about this red head was a little odd to say the least.
He fell silent again and trained his gaze upon the three dogs that were now milling about looking fairly docile and nothing like the slavering beast that had seen him clinging to the rockface only a few moments ago. They were fickle too, it would seem. He kicked one foot over the other, crossed at the ankle and waved the pipe absently toward Aedea once again
“How did you end up being a Priestess anyway?

“How did you end up being a Priestess anyway?
Aedea looked at Silanos as if in deep thought. He made a good point, though; it was her duty to spread the word of Artemis to everyone, and in fact, that was one of the reasons why she travelled around Greece, other than to help women. Finally, she replied, “Yes. I teach. You can ask, then.”
She took a small moment to see the environment before her. Mountains as far as the eye could see, topped by a bright, clear blue sky, with a warm breeze sweeping her hair. She closed her eyes to feel nature around her; the wind, the earth under her, and the dogs that were at her side. She knew she had an special connection with Gaia… because where else could she be from? If Artemis blessed her, it was likely that Gaia was her mother.
At his next question, she also pondered, taking the pipe and taking a long huff of it, then passing it back to Sil. Artemis was the goddess of virginity, and thus, as she told him, there was no roundabout along it. But kissing? That seemed to be a grey area. It was something that didn’t occur her to ask. She replied, “Don’t know. Big question. I will ask.”
Most people always asked her where she came from, and how did she became a priestess. She came to learn to recite her story to everyone that asked, so she took a deep breath and began speaking: "Sisters found me young in wilds. Dogs and wolves only family. No name. Didn’t trust sisters. Then sisters treat me well. Give me food and drink. Then I trust them. Then they took me to temple. I was Aedea; blessed by Artemis. I no read, no write, no speak, no hunt. Sisters taught me. Now I read, I write, I speak, I hunt. Me Priestess now. Me Huntress. Best Huntress."
She thought that it was her turn to ask him a question, however. Something she wanted to ask since he saw him, “You. Don’t look like Colchis. You look like other place. Why?”

If there was a briefly satisfied look at the Priestess’ agreement to indulge his curiosity then Sil only wore it for a second before it was hidden behind the fog of smoke that he exhaled. And he almost choked in surprise when she admitted she didn’t know the answer to his question, the Lord sitting up from his reclined position to gape at the redhead.
“You mean...you never asked? That would be the first think I did. You need to understand your boundaries! Imagine, you could have been depriving yourself all these years for no good reason whatsoever.” He gave her an easy once over before sitting back again. “I’m sure if you cleaned up a little you’d have plenty of people willing to educate you.”
It all made a little more sense when she explained her start in life, and the young Lord cast a flickering glance between the woman and her dogs. “How old were you when they found you?” It was such an unbelievable story, but he couldn’t fathom why someone would invent such a tale, and it certainly fit with the redhead’s coarse manner. A wild woman indeed. If this was the new and civilised version of Aedea, then Sil dreaded to think what kind of feral creature she had been to begin with.
He swallowed his disbeleif and nodded at her assertion that she was ‘best’. “I’m sure you are. That’s quite some achievement from an unauspicious beginnings” And then the Lord frowned at her question, one doubtful eyebrow raised as he tried to fathom what ‘not looking Colchis’ was supposed to mean.
“I look like..other place?” Sil looked down at himself as if he might see what she saw, and then guessed at what she might be getting at. “If you mean I’m not a soldier then no, I’m not. Colchis has enough of them already, don’t you think? Besides, its dull.” He refrained from adding a few choice comments pertaining to her own appearance, deciding it was probably not worth the risk. She was within striking distance after all.
Silanos kicked one foot over the other and offered over the pipe again, settling back and folding his arms behind his head. “ I just got back from Taengea actually. Have you been?”
His time in the neighbouring kingdom had been fine and dandy up until his funds had dwindled and his pockets suddenly weren’t deep enough to support his vices. Coming home had seemed a sensible choice then. Only as Sil was finding, being back in Colchis was not without its complications either.

Aedea didn’t know if he was doing it on purpose, but the way he seemed shocked about her not asking made her feel like she was an idiot for not doing so. But for her, it wasn’t really a thing she thought of asking. Why would she? It was not like she actually felt the need to kiss someone on the lips… for her, kisses involved licking someone, and since she realized few people were fond of it, she assumed it was wrong. Kissing with your lips didn’t seem normal, “I ask when I return. No more licking now.”
She didn’t know what to make out about his last statement, though, and didn’t know if she should feel insulted. So she just looked at him oddly as the smoke covered his face.
At his question of her age when she was discovered, Aedea counted with the fingers of one hand, then passed with the other, and then back to his right hand again, before looking and Sil and said, “Fifteen”, she replied. It was odd, thinking about it… fifteen years of being wild and free, though with no memory of her past. That made her feel melancholic… sometimes she dreamed of returning there. But knew that her place was in Colchis.
She beamed with pride at what she perceived was approval, even though she didn’t know what one of those words meant. Aedea was aware that she lacked in many things… she had trouble with numbers and with words, not to mention with socializing, but she was the best huntress many people have ever seen.
“Yes”, she confirmed, as if it was obvious. He didn’t look like someone that has been born in Colchis – he didn’t seem hardened by the harsh environment or violent fights. Indeed, not a soldier, but something softer, “Maybe. Soldiers needed”, she affirmed.
She took the pipe and took a drag, held it in and then exhaled. Then did so again. Her head was swimming pleasantly, just as she liked, “Yes. Some times. I do missions for temple. Taengea is pretty”, she affirmed, and looked at him with a wolfish grin, “Taengea has good wine”, truly, the thing she enjoyed the most about it.
Aedea turned to check her dogs once again, and saw that they seemed restless. She stood up quickly and grabbed her bow, trying to figure out… their body language made it clear what was happening, “Prey near”, she said. She felt foolish, wasting her time with some noble and forgetting her mission. But then she looked at him, “You hunt?”

Has Silanos known Aedea’s peculiar take on kissing, he might well have agreed it was not something she should go around practicing. But, working under the assumption she was not entirely uncivilised, he didn’t see how she would not have tested the boundaries of her vows. Silanos was a great believer in the testing of boundaries, and sometimes, when he didn’t like them, ignoring them altogehter.
Still, he pulled a face at her mention of licking, and decided he’d let the subject drop only for his eyes to widen again when she said she’d been feral until she was fifteen.
“Wow. Fuck. Thats a… you were grown when they found you” How the actual fuck did that happen? How did she not get eaten by something? What did she eat?! Silanos could not make any sense of it, and he could not wait to regale Tim with the story. Excluding the part that had seen him hanging off the edge off a cliff trying to get away from a dog
He shot her a look at her assessment, but couldn’t be bothered to take offence, just rolling his eyes at the assertion than soldiers were needed. As if Colchis needed any more of them. It had long been a sore point, his lack of interest in pursuing the family craft as it were, and Sil has a feeling it wouldn’t be too long until it was brought up again. Having successfully dodged any family expectations for the last couple of years, there was something a little alarming about suddenly being expected to meet them again. He happily let the thought drift off on the next exhale, making an agreeable murmur of approva as the Priestess made a sound judgement about Taengea. They did have good wine. But it appeared the wild girl had allowed herself her designated minutes of laziness, for she stood and looked ready to leave whilst Sil squinted up at her.
“Urgh, not if I can avoid it” he said, waving a hand at her. “Go ahead though, Aedea the Priestess. You have my blessing. Happy hunting”
The Lord had no such intentions. He would while a way a little more time here, and then he supposed he should make the trek back to the Valaoritis Manor. He’d deftly avoided spending any real time with his mother since his return - her absent mindedness made him uneasy, and there was no small amount of guilt that he had been absent so long. He should see that right at least.
“Its not exactly been a pleasure, but certainly enlightening. May Artemis go with you”

Aedea nodded vigorously at his statement, “Yes, grown. But still puppy. I grew”, people were always in awe when she told them her story. She knew it was amazing, on a normal point of view, but she knew it was Artemis’ doing that she survived and grew connected to the wilds. Now that she was more or less civilized, she could spread her word.
Aedea would have liked for Silanos to join her in the hunt. Admittedly, he didn’t seem really prepared for it, but she thought it would be courteous to ask… but indeed, he didn’t want to participate, so she decided to leave him alone. She seemed rather happy with his farewell, though, so she smiled a wolfish grin at him and said, “Thank. Artemis guide your step. I make sure dogs don’t bother you”, and with that, she was gone, following her hounds that seemed to have gotten a smell of the beasts she was looking for.
Silanos seemed like an odd person, but she couldn’t help but like him. He listened patiently to what she had to say – most people didn’t have much patience with her –, shared his pipe with her, and even gave her some insight on something she wouldn’t have known… she decided that once she came back to the temple with the game, she would ask Kallista if kissing was, indeed, allowed.
