Basic Information
Our encyclopaedia is vast and detailed. That's why this page was designed to give you the basic lay of the land for the Pharaoh's domain: K'm't. On this page you'll find key terminologies, basic political, climate and economic information and the land census, with links to all current in-play and open characters within K'm't. Most of the information below will also direct you to other pages where you can read up on the topic in more detail. If this handy overview is still not getting you where you need to go, please don't hesitate to contact a member of our staff team on site or on our Discord server. INSERT SAMPLE VISUALS FROM VISUALS PAGE General Climate INSERT FROM LAND PAGE Method of Rule INSERT FROM LAW PAGE Social Tolerance The Remetch'kmt have a wide variety of acceptable behaviours outside the norm of other lands. But they are equally intolerant of the few activities that they deem to be unnatural. Laws are based on this black and white thinking, creating extremely harsh punishments for those who deviate. Incest, for example, is an acceptable behaviour. Male homosexuality is punishable by death. They are also suspicious of African ethnicities and possess full prejudice against the Phoenician people. For more dramatic or dangerous plotlines of taboo or conflict, K'm't is a good choice for where to base your character. For a kinder environment, another land might be more appropriate.

For an overview of the social customs and ideals of the Remetch'kmt, see The Remetch'kmt section of K'm't's Social page.

For more detailed information on the Remetch'kmt's social opinions regarding sexualities, race, neurodivergence and all other forms of prejudice, see the Morals and Prejudices section of K'm't's Social page.

Forms of Address Addressing others correctly is hugely important in K'm't. Using the wrong form of address is considered a horrendous insult and can result in harsh punishments, including fatal ones. Using the correct terms not only keeps the immersion of our era intact, it could save your character's life.

Whilst there is no golden rule on when it is acceptable for a character to slip into informal address, a good rule of thumb is the measurement of two social ranks. The Ranks below are listed in order. If your character is just one or two ranks lower than the person they are addressing, it may be suitable for them to use an informal mode of address. Any lower and you are safer sticking with the formal.

Land Census
Below is a quick overview of the open canons, wanted ads and in-play characters in K'm't: specifically, the characters who currently occupy positions of power and which roles are still open to be filled by original characters.

For more information on the different roles and levels of authority in K'm't see the Ranks and Hierarchy section in K'm't's Law page.

Ruling Powers K'm't is a complete and absolute monarchy. The Pharaoh, known as the King of Kings, is the absolute mortal power in the land. But he is also believed to be the physical manifestation of Ra. He is therefore a God. The Council of K'm't is a group of men (and a few women) who act as advisors and executors of the Pharaoh's will in running the kingdom.

K'm't Houses The only 'Royal' House of K'm't is the Hei in which the Pharaoh is a part. Currently, that House is the Hei Naddar. All other Heis are of Noble status and are appointed and removed only by the power of the Pharaoh. The leader of each Hei (the Sirdar) is automatically a member of the Council and may or may not be given boons and privileges in particular provinces. They do not own or manage any land and have no authority over other men.

Provincial Leaders All land in K'm't is owned and ruled by the Pharaoh. The Council appoint a civil servant administrator to each province to supervise its economy and social needs. These administrators may be related to a Noble House but their jobs are otherwise unconnected. Certain Noble Houses may be given special considerations in certain provinces (such as tax breaks) but they are not leaders or rulers of those lands: the authority remains with the administrator. These administrators are not a part of the Council (though administrators can purchase a seat if they wish to, just like anyone else) and do not have political power. Below is a table copied from our World Contribution page. Any provinces that are indicated as 'Open' can be filled by new characters if a member wishes to create an administrator. To create an entirely new Noble House, is an achievement that must be gained through in-game play (see below).

For a more detailed list of each province and its industry and benefits, see the Province Listings section of K'm't's Land page.
Military Leaders Unlike other empires, where provinces have their own units of soldiers, in K'm't military legions are connected to particular Generals. When enlisting, a soldier joins General So-And-So's legion. Not the militia for Province XYZ. These legions are kept wherever the General decides, for training or active combat campaigns. At certain times of the year, the General will permit their soldiers to return home until next summoned for service. A General has several lower ranking officers (Pr'ras and Pr'senans) to manage their units. And they themselves ultimately answer to the Pharaoh. The appointment of the Sirdar rank is traditional upon newly minted Generals. This means that every General currently active in K'm't will have either established his own Noble House or already be a part of one. Ascending to the rank of General is a meritocractic progress, after which one becomes nobility. Below is a list of current military Generals under whom a new soldier can enlist.

For more information on military rankings and the authority and duties that come with them, see the Military Ranks section in K'm't's Military page.
Full Peerage The entire populace of K'm't includes royals, nobles and common folk from across the Pharaoh's lands. All open canons, open wanteds and in-play characters, from all classes of life, are listed below. The list also includes Legacy characters. These characters are deceased in our current timeline but open for past roleplay. Find their stories in our Historical Timeline.
