The high street in the heart of the city hums with the energy of commerce and conversation, a thoroughfare that cuts through Sector IX like a river of life. Lined with vibrant storefronts and market stalls, the street is a buzz of activity at all hours of the day, with merchants hawking their wares with hoarse shouts and hagglers battling prices to the ground. Some shops, grander than others, are framed by marble columns, selling fine textiles, gleaming bronze wares and fragrant spices from another land, while smaller kiosks teem with vendors offering fresh bread, fruits and other treats to those that pass. Overhead, colourful awnings stretch out from the surrounding builds to provide a modicum of shade from the relentless sun. All day, crowds of citizens jostle one another in the narrow space between the shops, but, at night, the area becomes quieter. Few vendors remain at these hours save for those who offer less savoury wares, and the street becomes home to a darker kind of activity that usually lurks in the alleyways. Nonetheless, whether one visits in the bright morning or in the dead of night, they are sure to find something to satisfy their whims.
