The royal seraglio is almost a village unto itself. It's first building is the legal queen's quarters, including her bed chambers, sleeping spaces for her personal aides, meeting and entertaining rooms, private courtyards and gardens, as well as a study or space for administrative work. The queen is considered the head of the seraglio regardless of her current favour and standing with the Tabarna but more dominant concubines can certainly upset and redress this status quo. After the queens quarters are hundreds of personal bedrooms for the royal concubines. These might include better views, warmer accommodations or additional rooms for servants or living spaces if the concubine is highly favoured. A concubine's prestige is calculated with a combination of her personal favour with the Tabarna and her personal background as royal concubines are almost exclusively chosen from noble families. All children birthed by the queen or concubines live in the seraglio. Daughters remain in the seraglio with their mothers until they marry. Royal-blooded sons are given their own households outside of the palace when they come of age at fourteen. Beyond the bedrooms, the seraglio also includes entertainment spaces and leisure rooms for music, recitation, food or general socialisation between the Tabarna and his concubines. The Tabarna has his own bedding room within the seraglio (separate from his sleeping quarters in the Tabarna Sarai). Concubines are almost exclusively summoned to serve the Tabarna within this room. It is incredibly rare for a Tabarna to show enough favour to go to a concubine's private space.
