The Ayyaršātum Sarai's central courtyard is wide and open, anchored by a sunken round basin at its centre. Encircled by polished stone walkways and shaded colonnades, the courtyard is reserved for private ceremonies, seasonal rites, and rituals performed for the Tabarna, his concubines, and close kin. Flowering vines climb the walls, casting dappled shade, while the basin reflects the sky above, its waters lending serenity to the scene.
