Below is a quick overview of the open canons, wanted ads and in-play
characters in Assyria lands: specifically, the characters who currently occupy
positions of power and which roles are still open to be filled by original characters.
For more information on the different roles and levels of authority in Assyria see the Ranks and Hierarchy section in Assyria's Law page.
For the full, canon family tree of Assyria use this link and the 'Find:' function at the bottom right of the page, to find "Munirsuarta al'Kushiq" as a starting point. You can explore from there.
Ruling Powers
Assyria is an absolute monarchy. Laws are made and governed by the
Lugal. These decisions can be swayed, persuaded, bribed, negotiated or blackmailed in particular directions by the
Council of Advisors, composed of the eleven leaders, (or
Angals) of the Assyrian Houses but the final decision and power always rests with the Lugal (king).

Mitanni is technically a part of the Assyrian Nation. However, they were an
independent empire prior to their annexation. When the conflict between Mitanni and Assyria finally ended nearly six years ago, the peace treaty dictated that the Mitanni lands could be ruled independently
within their borders but must bow to the authority of the Assyrian king when matters concerning the Syrians were at play. The Mitanni leader is therefore a Lugal (king) of his own lands but holds the inferior seat of Angal or Advisor in the Council of the
Assyrian Lugal. There is no longer a Council / Senate within Mitanni itself.

Royal and Noble Families
The only 'royal' houses of Assyria are the rulers of the entire nation:
Kushiq, and the ruling house of the Mitanni municipality:
Tyareh. All other houses (or
Bêlu's) in Assyria are only noble because they possess royal bloodlines but everyone within those houses is treated as having
equal rank regardless of whether they were born to the house or married into it. All members of the Bêlus are classified as
nobility. Nobles who possess royal blood are given no 'Prince' or 'Princess' title - they are simply referred to as Lord or Lady, as appropriate.

Provincial Leaders
Each province in Assyria is led by a noble family. The head of that family is the
Angal and leader of the province and has a seat on the
Council of Advisors. Below is a table copied from our
World Contribution page. Any provinces that are indicated as 'Open' can be claimed by new characters if a member wishes to
create a new Bêlu (Noble House).

For a more detailed list of each province and its industry and benefits, see the Province Listings section of Assyria's Land page.
Military Leaders
Assyria's army is privatised. Each
Master Sergeant in the land leads his own
sargon of men, usually numbered (such as the 6th Sargon). Different sargons, depending on the lands the Master Sergeant trains them on, will have different specialties: charioteers, cavalry, archery, siege engines or infantry. Assyria is one of the few nations in Aeipathy who have cavalry as part of their military forces. Master Sergeants have several
Sergeants under their command, leading teams within the sargon and will often have one to three
Horse Masters depending on the scale of their chariots and cavalry teams. Master Sergeants are subservient only to the
Lugal, who is legally Commander-in-Chief of his own forces and more likely to go to war at the head of his armies than most other nations.
