Below is a quick overview of the open canons, wanted ads and in-play
characters in the land of Babylonia: specifically, the characters who currently occupy
positions of power and which roles are still open to be filled by original characters.
For more information on the different roles and levels of authority in Babylonia see the Ranks and Hierarchy section in Babylonia's Law page.
For the full, canon family tree of Babylonia use this link and the 'Find:' function at the bottom right of the page, to find "Sunti Haiwattama" as a starting point. You can explore out from there.
Ruling Powers
Babylonia is an
absolute monarchy. Laws are made and governed by a the monarch of the land. The
Lugal (King) or
Nin'Sēgallu (Queen) of Babylonia does not have to answer to a Council, Senate or other governing body at all.

Immediate Royal Family
'Immediate royal family' includes all living
parents,
children,
spouses, or
siblings of the current monarch. Those born to the extended royal lines grow up to become the nobilities of the Babylonian Court (see below).
As the current Queen of Babylonia has yet to marry and produce heirs, there are no immediate descendants or royal family members.
Royal and Noble Families
The only 'royal' house of Babylonia is the ruling house:
Ashina. The two other houses (or
Bêlu's) in Babylonia possess royal bloodlines but are not of equal rank to the ruling house. They are both classified as
nobility only. The leaders of each House are referred to as
Angals but, unlike in Assyria, this is not a political rank/position: it is merely a title of respect.

Provincial Leaders
Babylonia is a city state and therefore has
no provincial areas of note. The city itself has several neighbours or residential areas that are independently defined but these are not ruled independent from the whole. The main city of Babylonia is technically named
Babylon. However, the terms Babylon (the city) and Babylonia (the city, and its surrounding lands) are often used
synonymously.
There are no open provinces or opportunities to create new Noble Houses in Babylonia. If you wish to create your own Noble or Royal House in another land, see our World Contribution page for more information.
For more details on Babylon and its surrounding areas see the Province Listings section of Babylonia's Land page.
Military Leaders
The Babylonian armed forces are a single unit, ruled by martial specialists. The nobility and monarch of Babylonia may enlist in the army but it is not usual for them to lead it. The Babylonian army is divided into four
units: Infantry, Archery, Navy and the Babylon Enforcers. Each unit is commanded by a
Captain and their deputy. The four Captains take their orders from the
monarch: the legal (but not usually active) Commander-in-Chief of the Chaldean armed forces.
Lieutenants serve under their Captains and are in charge of units large enough to wage battle alone.
Ensigns are a lower rank of officer who serve and aide the Lieutenants. Soldiers without rank are referred to as
Erim.
