The Viatrix Bona stands as a formidable contrast to the more opulent homes of its neighbours, embodying the disciplined ethos of a military lineage. Rather than serving as a place of comfort and indulgent luxury, it is a home clearly designed for practicality and hosting when the family visit the city from the north. The villa's exterior is somewhat austere yet still impressively commanding, with its dark stone walls rising high and unadorned if not for a few carvings of icons — shields, spears, and busts of familial heroes. The entrance is flanked by two towering statues of armoured soldiers, opening onto a courtyard that is plainer than most gardens if solely because the maintenance of excessive greenery, while possible, seems an unnecessary matter. The most noticeable sign of luxury is the central fountain that gurgles endlessly, surrounded by neatly trimmed laurel trees. Inside, the decor is certainly expensive, but obviously chosen for functionality above all else. The walls are decorated with maps, military banners, and antique weaponry, and the lavish frescoes painted along the hallways are one of the few signs of a dramatic inclination.
