Maximus sighed and nodded, Adelpha knew that he was uncomfortable talking about his time during his first tour. If it weren't for men like Maleous who lead the counterattack against the Barbarians then Maximus would've been dead for sure. The way he wallowed in the mud like a coward was dishonorable and disrespectful to his descendants who fought served the Colchian army with honor and dignity something that Maximus couldn't even do for one second. The young soldier continued to close his eyes while Adelpha set something in front of him. It smelled like cake but he didn't even bother opening his eyes.
"I think a dried up fruit is better than the rations I've had while on tour," Maximus smiled opening his eyes and seeing the concrete ceiling. He wondered how Adelpha was able to maintain the beach house all by herself, she wasn't like other girls who would be prim and prober though Adelpha was clearly shown how to be act like "proper" lady but rather she was messy and can be somewhat off the wall at times. It was just the way Maximus liked Adelpha as she was unique and interesting.
Adelpha was a shy girl when they first met and it took a long time for her to open up and even play with Maximus and Basil, the three were inseparable with Adelpha often acting like the "mother" of the group and due to her lithe body, she was able to use her speed to her advantage while they played king of the hill which one the trio many games. "So Adelpha," Maximus sighed as he got up trying to remove the images of the battle out of his head. "What have you've been painting lately?"
The young man took a piece of cake and stuffed it in his mouth. "Clearly you've been busy lately."
