Thras was out and about, something that was not unusual for the man. He didn’t tend to spend much time indoors, though he supposed the fact that he didn’t really have a house sort of helped with that. But either way, he didn’t like to spend time at camp unless there was work to be done there. He would much rather be finding something else to do, making new friends or finding work or just helping someone out. Even just exploring new places was a good use of his time he thought. He was not one who could sit still for long, and the only time he could be found to be in one place was when his leg injury required him to rest for at least awhile.
Today was no different, and while he didn’t have anything specific to do that day, he thought he would head into town and see what sort of thing he could get up to. Lais was working, she had managed to find something to do for the day to earn them a bit of money, so he had set off from their camp that morning by himself, after completing the necessary chores to ensure they had food for the evening when both would return to camp.
Now, he had ridden his horse into town, leaving him with a local stable for safe keeping so he could wander the city. They had been there for awhile but hadn’t had much of a chance to see a lot of it. It seemed like with the departing of the soldiers, things had been hectic and he had been assisting where he could.
But today it seemed calmer, and he wanted to take advantage of that. And what better way than attempting to make some new friends? Thras had never been shy about approaching new people and trying to strike up a conversation. So far, most of the times he had done it, it had gone well.
“Excuse me, sir?” He said, picking his target and greeting him with a big friendly smile.
“I apologize if I’m interrupting, I find myself wandering the city without a clue as to where I am going, I was wondering if you had any suggestions of places to check out for a wanderer new to Taengea?” He asked, keeping his tone light and friendly. Either the man would return the friendliness or he would simply tell Thras to leave.
“I am Thrasius by the way. And your name?”

Planetes had been lucky lately. Over the past few days, he had obtained a larger haul of goods than was usual, and they had even been of a much higher quality than was typical as well, so that his clientele had not found fault in the majority. Today, his good fortune only seemed to continue, as he had (somehow) managed to arrive at the quickly-filling market in the earliest hours of the morning, almost even before the sun had started to poke over the horizon, and had found a suitable, central location for his small stall which would guarantee a fair amount of foot traffic. That was all he required. Once enough people were passing, Planetes could work his friendly charm on them and trick them into purchasing any number of trinkets they truly neither needed nor wanted.
Now, as the hours passed, he was starting to believe that perhaps he was not as lucky as he had previously thought. The number of eager customers had started to decrease - much to his chagrin - and he was beginning to grow tired of calling out to passersby to gain their attention. It was no trouble really, for he had succeeded in distracting enough patrons that morning that he could get away with a brief period of silence to rest his voice. Later, he would disappear to one of the other stores and negotiate a trade with its vendor to find some sustenance for himself and Atalanta over the next few nights. Where she was at present, he could not say, though he imagined she was conducting some smart trick of her own elsewhere.
In an effort to attract more silent business, Planetes had gone about reordering his stock, trying to form a prettier front of wares, though there was nothing there of excessive beauty. He was doing so with a fair degree of success when a voice cut through the cute daydream he was hatching about where he and his wife would visit next, half-startling him.
For a moment, he was quiet with surprise, reaching down to grab one of the carved wooden boats he had knocked to the ground as the other spoke, setting it precariously back on the stall before he turned to face his interlocutor. "New to Taengea?" he repeated, as if finding time to think, his conversational ability suddenly decreasing tenfold as he was caught off-guard. It wasn't quite time for the festivals that graced the summer months, and he wasn't sure what else to suggest, given that he spent most of his time either scouting out new wares or investigating the markets and targets that lingered around them. He decided to stick to what he knew best, a plan which usually tended to work.
"Well, you're right here!" he exclaimed, drawing himself to full height - still shorter than his new companion, though his scrawniness had always made him look taller - and dropping his hands to his hips. "There's no better place for a newcomer to be than the central plateía. Anything you need, you can find here: shops, music, people, entertainment. You need someone to show you around? I'm almost finished here." Planetes reckoned he could spare some time, since most of his day had been so prolific, and he could tidy his belongings quickly enough. At the request for his name, he raised an eyebrow in mild suspicion (you could never be too careful), but stretched out a hand. "Planetes."
