Desma looked none too thrilled at the chaos before her eyes. Her nostrils flared and her hands went to her hips. "Hades will be my keeper by the time time I get this mess packed away." She grumbled knowing that soon the four winds of change would do more than give her a disastrous living quarters to keep after. She sincerely hope Boreas, Notus, Zephyrus, and Eurus were well on their way to another estate, and here after Olympia would keep things orderly and neat.
She began to move about the room stooping down to pick up one item, article or another. She paused however when she came to a little dolly cast aside atop a pile of papers. "Oh...well old friend, my how times have changed." Memories flooded back and caused a pang of nostalgia to take hold of her old bones. "She's all grown now you know. All too soon...all too quick...But I tell you, she still has much to learn, much that old Desma will teach her." She looked around and moved over to the bed. She set the doll down gingerly, and began to make the bed if only to put the doll in the center.

The day had already been draining and all she had done was stand silently by her family. Only when they had returned home from the King's funeral had she told Desma everything that had passed between Stephanos and herself. The fact that she was to leave her father's home and move to the palace, that she would be queen. Everything was passing around her in a surreal haze and she found herself sitting, pale and silent once again downstairs with her family before her mother ushered her upstairs to rest. Nodding, Olympia had slowly dragged herself up to the chamber that had been hers since she was small, reaching up to unpin the black veil from her hair as she entered to Desma's cleaning.
"I fear I'll always have too much to learn from you, Desma."
Olympia managed her first smile of the day as she moved to her dressing table, setting the pins aside and letting the veil simply fall off of her as she moved. She sat with little difficulty thanks to the bruises and stiffness that had settled on her after the events in the Circus the day before, staring blankly at her reflection for a moment. She was going to be queen. In one day the Fates had decided to throw everything into chaos, dragging her down through Hades' realm and then up to the top of Mount Olympus itself. Stephanos' wife. The mother of his heirs. A hand fell to the swell of her gown, resting atop the bump where the babe had been squirming within her all day, almost as if he wanted to shout the secret to the world himself.
"You will come with me, won't you?"

"You will come with me, won't you?"
Desma looked up from the task at hand when Olympia came in, "Never fear learning, knowledge is power dear one, and better yet know this: Everyone has something to teach." She said as she moved to get an extra blanket and put it around Olympia's shoulders. She was not concerned about her charge being cold, but rather about the feeling of loneliness that embraced those left in the world of the waking. A blanket brought peace and clarity to the mind when worn like a shield.
"I once thought life began at birth. I didn't realize it truly began at your birth. It is said if you wish to learn about something then you should teach it. You my dear will learn more from the child within you than anyone else. It is I who have something to fear, loosing you." Her breathe quaked as she inhaled and she looked away as a single tear escaped down her cheek.
She then took a seat next to the woman once a girl and in some ways still a girl. Everything cracked and popped with resistance. She smiled back, though it was weary. "You thought you could leave me behind? Hmm?" She shook her head tsking, and went to grab for the doll she had been admiring earlier. "Dear girl, I am not your doll. I am your Desma, and though I am feeble and old, I go where you go. Besides who else is going to look after you while you are looking after them." Her gaze went to Olympia's womb and then she sighed. "I can only hope they don't take after all your clutter." She teased.

Pia leaned into the blanket that was draped over her shoulders, closing her eyes as she wrapped her arms around her stomach protectively. Helena had checked her over and determined her child was still alive, and so her hopes lived on but everything felt strange. Speaking to Desma was the first she'd really said all day, even through the funeral and leaning on her family, a silence had fallen over her and she didn't know who else but the old slave she could properly confide in. She sniffed back tears of her own as she looked up to the older woman, lower lip trembling.
"I'm afraid. Of all of it. It's everything I ever dreamed of, but how it's come about..."
She trailed off before speaking the thought that rested heavy on her heart. What if she was the net target, what if it was Stephanos. What if it was her child when they were finally born. There was so much danger and so little in the way of answers that she felt herself second guessing even the most firm of her resolutions. Did she want to become a queen in this way, and was she strong enough to do so? Laying her head on Desma's shoulder, Pia couldn't help the smile that the sight of the woman and doll brought to her lips, the first in a long while.
"I couldn't do it without you. I know nothing of being a mother, and now I'm expected to raise a king? I'll need your help, never leave me."

Desma had a rather harsh view of the world and wasn't one much for tears or fears. Still her Sweet Pia was a rather fragile thing, and to a degree she hoped the young woman would maintain some of that attribute. After all it was the pains of the world that roughened Desma's edges, pains she hoped Olympia would never suffer from. Pains unfortunately the girl was suffering from.
She pulled a handkerchief from her sleeve and gently lifted Pia's chin so she could wipe away dribbles from her eyes. She then put it to her nose. "Blow, there's no room for snot when dealing with royalty. As I understand it's in rather poor tastes." She said teasingly, a memory flickering back to when a slave had sneezed in the soup and didn't tell anyone. Desma had seen it though and warned Pia not to eat the soup, she didn't save the same warning for the bratty noble girl, who had been staying as a visitor. No, she let her eat it all up and even provided her with seconds.
She waited until Pia had done as instructed then folded away the handkerchief and set it with the rest of the dirty linen before returning to her charge's side. "Now now my dear you must not let your fear control you. If you let it control you and rule your every step then you let those who have instilled you with such terror win, and we can't have that now can we? No, we can't. What you must do is rise above this. You must show them that the House of Leventi will not be shattered, but instead will rise taller and stronger than ever." Desma of course knew a thing or two about rising among the ashes.
Desma couldn't help, but chuckle at Pia's next remark in regards to raising a king. "Focus first on raising a human, then worry about the king part. I find if you get it the other away around you tend to have an ill mannered spoiled rotten brat who lacks ethics, morals, and a sound mind. If that happens then you have every right to fear for your safety."

The queen to be gave a soft laugh at the old woman's order and did as commanded, blowing her nose obediently into the handkerchief as she had since she was a little girl. With her face dried and errant nose cleansed, she sat up straight and looked to her reflection in the mirror. The face of a queen, apparently, now that she was betrothed to the king. It was everything she'd ever wanted, but this was not how she had ever wanted this to come about, with the death of one man she'd admired leading to his replacement with another that she loved in her own way.
Nodding at Desma's comment about rising above, she straightened slightly and reached up to unpin the black veil from her hair, exhausted as she let it fall behind her. Black was never a color she enjoyed wearing, it washed her out too much. She much preferred jewel tones and color in her life, and she hoped soon she would be given the opportunity to bring that back into her life.
"You'll be there to help me, I can't worry about it too much."

Desma gave a nod in agreement and a knowing smile as she took the veil from the woman and began to neatly fold it up. "Now you and the child need rest hmm? I will make sure all your needs and wants are packed. You have nothing to fret or worry over." For once she bit her bitter tongue which had a tendency of saying comically morose things, in the right light of course.
She stood up if only to arrange the bed for the soon to be Queen. "Nightmares end, where dreams begin, and I will be with you every step of the way my sweet Pia." She gave the woman a wink, and then quietly went to tending to her duties, never leaving Pia's side or the room, but letting her rest nevertheless.
