My Lady and Dear Friend,
I had not doubted the truth to your words, merely that you may not have had time for me with all of your duties. I am most amazed to hear that you have swelled on my words and deeds from that night, but I cannot say that you haven’t been in the forefront of my own thoughts either. I have known since early in our first encounter that you were not the sort to swoon over the physical appearance of a man, and that the mind he possessed would be far more important to you. It is a shame so few people find a spouse that can keep them interested both physically and mentally, perhaps some day when your sex is no longer sold as chattel. I am pleased to hear that my words have endeared me to you, but I merely spoke the truth, as I should hope all would do. I am pleased to hear of the success that you have made with Elani, and that you finished winter clothes for the family. It is a wonder you are able to do anything else given all of the time you devote to your people.
As for me, I have been kept very busy with the training of the newest group of recruits. I am ashamed to admit that I might would have better success teaching you and Rene to fight than these poor louts. Things have returned to normal since the festivities, and the threat looms once more on the northern border. It likely will not be long until we are back on campaign. That is the normal way of life here, I know things are quieter in your homeland. I am hoping that they fresh blood will be well enough trained that they won’t take flight at the first sight of an enemy. As for women, I am afraid that I have yet to find one that I would wish to marry. It is difficult to find an eligible match that is intriguing enough to pay a bride price for. I am afraid that you and Rene may have ruined my prospects by being so interesting.
Sincerely,
Alexandros Iraklidis
