In some way, Chara supposed she'd always known that one day, everything she was and aspired to become would come back to bite her in the ass in some way or fashion. She wasn't particularly well liked, and although she had found her peace with that, it seemed that some people harbored feelings they could not rid themselves in any other way than direct confrontation.
Whether it was by her own actions, or those of her brother's remained unclear. She was well aware of the reputation her family had come across, and even more, what many seemed to think of her brother's current... Situation.
Perhaps that was why when she and her maid was stopped, Chara wasn't all too surprised. Yet, defiant as ever, the brunette didn't show the men in her path much attention. At least not until they had tried putting a hand on her in an attempt to stop her from moving past them. She had been quick to pull back, her maid even stepping forward in a fruitless attempt to shield her.
Chara knew better than anyone that she stood no chance if the two men chose to move forward. No, it was far smarter to remain calm and not do anything that would further anger them. Because they were angry. That much was clear, from the way they glared at her, and from the tension resting upon their shoulders.
One of the men shifted his gaze, taking in their surroundings as if making sure they were alone and left undisturbed.
It was clear that they had come here with some plan, and yet, when faced with the reality of the situation, hesitated.
"Gentlemen." She spoke, calling their attention to her. "As you can likely imagine, I have a very busy day ahead of me, and we would like to pass, but you seem to make that rather challenging. What can I do for you?" She kept her tone flat and devoid of any emotions. The two men looked at each other for a moment, before their gazes returned to the lady and her maid.
They exchanged words between the two, but whatever was said, the brunette did not catch. They kept their voices far too hushed, their intent likely for the words not to reach her. Furrowing her brows as she grew a little more impatient, the hazel eyed brunette was tempted to speak up, but knew better than to do so. As if sensing her growing impatience, one of the men snickered, lifting his hand in the air and held two fingers up.
Before she was allowed much of a chance to react further, the two men pounced. One of them went for her maid, circling her and holding her still by the hands. The other, the same man who had lifted his hands, grabbed Chara by the wrists and pushed her against the wall hard enough for the air to leave her lungs in a rapid huff.

Maximus was tired physically and emotionally. The young man had just completed his first tour as a solider of Colchis, Maximus trained since he was seven years old to become a solider and hopefully to go down as one of the greatest in Colchian history. When he enlisted into The Fifth Phalanx it was the happiest moment in Maximus' life. His father though urged him to stay alert for the path of a solider can be long and full of hardships and to also prepare to do menial tasks when not fighting. For the first time in his life, Maximus brushed off his father's advice feeling that he would be fine Maximus felt invulnerable and ready for what the Fifth Phalanx would throw at him.
After a successful training camp which earned him the praise of his commanding officers. Maximus was instantly send to the Mountains to build bridges and watch out for Barbarian attacks. When he received his assignment, Maximus was less than enthusiastic at the fact that he won't get to see much action but he was still excited that he is already starting a tour after training camp. Besides he has the opportunity to explore more of Greece which was always a plus for the young man. Grabbing his spear and shield, Maximus marched along with his brothers towards their destination with Maximus having more pep to his step compared to his comrades. A few months into the tour, Maximus already wanted to go home. The land that The Fifth Phalanx were to supposed upon and patrol easily became one of the more boring jobs there is. Tedious inspections, day after day of back breaking labor of building bridges for merchants Maximus wanted to bang his head against the wall. However he maintained discipline.
It didn't help that there was bad weather for most of the months Maximus was on tour. Rain came pouring down creating mudslides and ruining the camp. A couple of soldiers developed fevers as a result and Maximus became more miserable. By the time when the scouts reported that Barbarians were near the area, Maximus was almost happy that he would finally fight at last. If only he could beat his past self over how foolish he sounded. What was left of the Fifth Phalanx eventually left the area after construction was complete and were on their way home. Maximus was relieved he just wanted to forget what had happened during the tour. The company made a stop in Athenia to rest for a bit before traveling and Maximus spent most of his time wondering around the arena. He's been to Athenia a couple of times in the past and found it pleasant albeit a bit too focused on politics.
Maximus was about to go back to the barracks until he saw two women being harassed by a couple of men. The young man's heart began racing wildly. What were they doing? Maximus took out his Xiphos and without thinking rushed towards the men. "Leave them alone!" he declared his short sword.

All four of them, the two men, Chara and her maid all turned towards the direction of the shout. The man, dark skinned and seemingly young was not someone she immediately recognized. More than likely, he was not a child of anyone of the Athenian court — Chara rather prided herself in her knowledge and ability to remember faces.
But then, she supposed, who he was and where he came from hardly mattered.
While the man holding her wrists remained, the other let go of her maid, easily tossing her to the side as he turned towards the newcomer. "There's nothing for you to see here. Move along." He called out, and though his words could easily be seen as neutral, his posture told a different story. While Chara couldn't immediately see the men carrying any weapons of themselves, they were heavily built. It didn't appear as if it was the first time they'd ever attended a brawl, and though the newcomer had a sword, there was still two against one.
Shifting her gaze, Chara looked for her maid: The younger woman's gaze flickered between the newcomer and her lady, then to the man holding Chara against the wall. Chara wouldn't put it beyond the younger woman to make a move, but it wasn't as if she stood much of a chance against the man. The maid stepped forward, but stopped short as Chara shook her head no.
No. Nothing good would come of having her maid beaten to a pulp.
"Get him out of here!" Her captor called to his companion. Chara assessed the situation: The man was much stronger than she was, so wrestling free of his grip wouldn't do. But that didn't mean that was her only option. Especially not now that his gaze was no longer on her, but rather his friend and the newcomer. Making a split-second decision, Chara shot her knee upward and the man before her doubled over with a gasp, giving her enough room to push him off of her and push herself off the wall.

Maximus didn't back down, his hand gripping on to the handle of the Xiphos in his fighting stance. These thugs were trouble and they needed to be taken care of. But they had hostages with them there wasn't anything the young man could do, If Maximus made a move, the women could certainly be injured. "Remember your training," Maximus said. "Protect the innocent," although these women were Atheinian, they needed help all the same they were all Greeks despite hailing from different city states. Maximus was running different scenarios in his mind until the brown haired woman kicked the one holding her wrists in the gonads and pushed him off of her.
"Great job!" He shouted, but to the sides of them two more men came from hiding. "Hades flaming hair!" A man with a white scraggly beard said. "You mean to tell me that you can't handle two women!" And stared at Maximus glaring daggers into the young man. "No witnesses!" He declared. "Kill the Colchian!"
Before the woman could escape, the bearded man grabbed her by the waist and lifted her up over his shoulder like a sack of potatotes. The maid was then pulled by the arm by another man and lead away. Maximus gulped as there were multiple men converging at him at once.
