The Underworld was not the warmest of hearth and home. The cold caverns that comprised of his home however, was the closest thing Hades has ever known to call home. In his black chiton and long black cloak that was buckled around his neck with a golden buckle, the male god had let his jaw drop in shock when he had checked on the River Styx. "Thanatos! Erebus is packed! What just happened up there?!" Anger was evident in his voice as he strode with large, purposeful steps past Cerberus and into Tartarus and his chamber of judgement.
As he entered and roared again, the dark figure of his partner, comrade and friend appeared in a swirl, curiosity evident in the other's features as he peered at the lord of the Underworld. Hades glared. He knew Thanatos would know about this. The God of Death brought them to Erebus, for Styx's sake. He had to have an explanation for the reason why there was suddenly a pile of souls at the Gates who could not pass the river from having no payment for Charon?
"Well? Explain!" he growled out, sweeping his cloak out of the way to take his stone crafted throne in which he doled out punishment to all souls who entered his realm. In the faint distance, one could hear the clink of chains, wails of the dead who were being punished in the Fields of Punishment. The souls which had committed crimes and which, in Hades's eyes, were given a punishment befitting their crime. The wails of the sad ones, who spent eternity in the Asphodel Meadows, reliving the memories of their life. Perhaps the only place which had no screams or cries were the Elysian Fields to Hades's right, but he was not concerned with that now.
"There has been a... massacre of sorts, in the kingdom in Greece, Hades. Specifically in a place called Taengea." Thanatos responded with a small bend of his waist respectfully at Hades. The dark haired god raised his brows, leaning back in his stone-carved throne. A massacre? Death was his domain, of that Hades had no qualms about. Yet to have so many of them at his gates, and yet he had no way of bringing them across, it frustrated the systematic God. With an irritated growl, he closed his eyes, leaning his head back.
What does one do? Other then the payment for Charon, the ferryman was cantankerous and rarely did favors for others unless he was specifically persuaded to do so. Sure, Hades could pay for their passage himself - but how effective would he be in doling out punishments to these dead souls, if he paid for their punishments? They would only try to cajole their way out of it, and Hades hated those.
Scowling darkly, he turned his gaze back to the silent Thanatos. "Did none of my brethren do something to st- No wait, they probably caused this to begin with." he muttered darkly under his breathe, annoyed at the actions of those he had no choice but to call his siblings and family. There was a good reason why Hades secluded himself in his Underworld, afterall.
"Thanatos, guide whatever souls you bring next directly to Charon - if you just leave them at Erebus, they'll never find a way to Charon, what with the crush that's currently there." Hades growled out, satisfied when the God of death nodded and dissapeared again. In turn, Hades grabbed one of the scrolls he had on his stone-carved table, and unrolled it, peering at the new names that were appearing faster then he could process them. The frown on his face merely deepend as he studied them.
It has been too long, since Hades had last entered the mortal world. He had no business, nor did he want to bother himself with the small matters or mortal dalliances, quite unlike his brethren. But now... maybe now, he would go.
