His visit to Colchis had been quick - but Hades had been glad enough that he managed to catch sight of that one soul who always seemed to evade him. For all that Vangelis of Kotas seemed to always get himself in trouble, it irritated Hades that he always seemed to just escape the grasps of Thanatos, just at the brink of the River Styx. That dastardly commander of his, always available to save his hide.
Curse them.
He wanted his soul... but he would have to wait, he supposed. Besides, he's already had one royal come by his realms just a few weeks ago, so for now Hades was satiated. Especially when his brother had oh so kindly channeled a large amount of souls into his realms thanks to the great storm that had occurred.
With no major souls to judge, he left the remainder of the day's work to the Fates, with Orpheus assisting them. His black cloak billowed as he swept out of the cavernous Underworld. Passing by the growling Cerberus, Hades was deaf to the cries and pleas of the souls waiting for judgement in Elysium. The dark god merely patted his pet's thick, scruff neck, casted a look at Charon, before gliding over the River Styx to the souls stuck on the other side with no payment to the boatman. Hades wrinkled his nose, disliking how packed it was thanks to the chaos Vangelis had caused from burning the Creed without any coin to pay to Charon.
He really did dislike that crowned prince.
It wasn't till he left Elysium, did Hades pull his cloak towards him, and a black cloud of smoke covered his body, bringing him to the palace of his brother in the underwater worlds. Refusing to deal with the problems of getting his clothes wet, Hades had transported himself right into the throne room of Poseidon's palace in his cloud of black smoke. His dark irises peered around, before Hades made himself known. "Poseidon, you've been busy with the seas, I see. Did you enlist Boreas's help with that storm? Or was it entirely of your doing?" the god snickered as he turned to face wherever his brother appeared from, a conniving grin on his lips. "I've been Overworld. Did you hear of the sailing competition happening in Athenia soon?"

With a nymph in his lap and several others floating about, Poseidon was examining the latest treasures from a shipwreck that he had brought about after one of the sailors spit into the sea. The man had claimed not to fear the gods, and he had paid the ultimate price along with the rest of his crew. He'd taken them all as tribute and now sorted through the valuables that had been aboard.
The dark fog materializing in his throne room was for once not an annoyance. He had been meaning to mention that particular sailor's name to his brother to make sure his punishments were carried out with additional horrors. As if being sent to the Underworld wasn't bad enough. Poseidon had never cared to visit that domain, better to let Hades come to them.
"Brother, welcome. We were just celebrating. You'll see a special gift from me when you return." His smile held no joy, only a gritting of teeth in his moments of triumph. The nymph sitting with him traced a hand through his hair and he pulled her into a fierce kiss for a moment before gesturing for her to leave him. If his brother was here to stay and chat his pleasures could be put on hold.
Standing, the king of the seas strode forward to lift a fistful of shining drachma, letting them fall back on the pile with a satisfying clatter before snarling once again. "It was a joint venture. Though I hear they've called it the Wrath of Boreas. See how kindly I'll look on them. The mortals forget their fear of me. A man spat in the ocean, Hades. Declared that he didn't think I could do anything."
The wild grin that wasn't a grin was back as Poseidon kicked at one of the vases in the pile, shattering it beneath his foot. "I showed him how incorrect he was."
It was truly troubling to him how frequently the mortals had been setting sail without proper sacrifice, hardly bothering to honor him for the most part except for the scared women that were increasingly aboard who in their fear managed to remember that he was the only one who could grant them safe passage. The mortal realm was restless and shifting, he would not allow them to forget him.
"Ah yes...I had been considering how to remind them that they play their games by my good graces only. Perhaps a large wave will remind them. Or I could split their city in half. The young princess is set to officiate though..I have always liked the look of her. I imagine Amphitrite would frown upon my taking a mortal and keeping her here though. We have our rules."

Hades eyed the nymph Poseidon had on his lap distastefully. Unlike his brethren, the dark god of the Underworld preferred to keep to himself, and did not partake in the pleasures of the flesh as his brothers seem to enjoy. Occasionally in his jaunts to the Overworld, he enjoyed slaking his desires, but otherwise Hades saw it as mainly slaking a bodily need, and not a necessity as the rest of the Gods seem to take it.
A special gift? He rose a wry brow, a pleased smile on his face as he reached out with his godly feelers and picked up on exactly the dead soul that Poseidon referred to. Making a mental note to peruse his files himself once he returned, the God rolled his eyes again at the obvious display of sexual desire, and instead turned away from Poseidon until he began to stride forward.
Only then, did Hades turned back to his brother, a snicker passing his lips. "You're too kind on them, brother. It wasn't till the storm did I see an influx into the Underworld. Have you been too pleased with all the... women you find then?" he murmured, a sneer curling his lips upwards. He found the attachment to pleasures of the bodily kind a weakness, the kind that Hades did not wish to partake of.
Unlike Poseidon and the rest of the gods who thrived on sacrifices and offerings, Hades had learned to do without - at the very least, not the usual offerings. He was satisfied with the services of his priests and followers, little as they were. Instead, this introverted God preferred to thrive on fear and the smell of death, imminent demise a better sacrifice to him then any blood, animal or beast.
"A large wave?" Hades echoed, disbelief in his tone. "Sure you can do better, Poseidon. A mere wave is paltry." His tone was mocking as he strolled over to the pile of treasures his brother had taken from the drowned sailor. He dipped is hands in the piles of coins, familiar against his skin. The god of the underworld had gold and precious gems all in the mines at his disposal, it is by his generosity that Colchis had such an abundance in their mines.
All he had to do was take it away.
His dark, swirling orbs flickered to Poseidon at the mention of the young princess, and he smiled. Athenia had fallen off his radar for a little - Taengea had been too delicious, it was distracting. But a recent missive his mortal self had received from Athenia had swung his attentions back there, and the smirk returned to his face. "She is a pretty little thing." he murmured, fingers trailing against a large golden ornament. "Split the city in half? So crude. Their waters are infested by sharks though. Whales cause a great deal of damage too?" Hades turned to Poseidon, a calculative look infusing the slow smile he wore. "Finesse brother. Where's the fun in simply splitting the city in half, when we can have havoc and disaster happen instead?"

Waving his hand at Hades' suggestion that he was too kind on them, Poseidon sifted through the gold before him until he found the strand of silver plated beads and strode forward to toss it about his brother's neck. He wasn't usually much of the sharing sort, but it was true that he hadn't sent as many souls below lately as he previously had. Call it softheartedness, but he'd been spending too much time with Amphitrite and she soothed him too well. See how they would all come to fear him again now.
"What do you want me to do? Drop a whale on the city?"
Poseidon laughed at his own comment, finding humor where little was to be seen except by himself as he continued to filter through the gold, tossing bits of it back into the trunk before returning to his throne once again. Settling himself in it, he looked up through the waves, glancing about to see if there was anyone or anything on his seas that needed his immediate attention before returning his gaze to his brother. If Hades wanted to see more finesse, he'd come to the wrong brother. In fact, he'd been born with the wrong brothers for that sort of thing. Neither Poseidon or Zeus was much for the subtleties.
Sharks. The Athenian harbors would run red with blood of those sailors who did not pay him tribute. Boats would crash, rocks would rip flesh, and his children would rush to the scene to feed. Perhaps it wasn't finesse so much, but it would be better than simply rending a city in two.
"Well, brother. If you've come all the way here you must have some idea. Or is there another plan you require my assistance with?"

He was amused at how Poseidon sifted through the various gold and jewelry he seemed to have scrounged from the wreckages he caused. Did he remember then, that most of the materials for those jewelries came from mines and underground chasms of which was under his domain? Hades can have any amount of riches he wanted. None of that intrigued him. What intrigued him was the complexities of human emotions and actions, their conscience and morality. He laughed at the idea of them praying to the other Gods, offering things to their altars, yet none approached him, or even if they did, they did so in terror. Did they forget, that it was he who they would have to deal with upon their deaths? Almost none of them would ever come face to face with Ares, Aphrodite, or even Zeus, the ones they so devoutly pray to.
But everyone would face him, in the sure face of judgment.
He sniggered at his brother's suggestion, letting the gold in his hands drop, as Poseidon tossed the strand of silver beads, swinging it nicely around his neck. It looked ludicrous on him, but for now, Hades allowed it to stay. He had other matters to tend to.
"A whale sounds nice, but pity the poor creature. Do you not have sympathy for your own children?" he murmured in a slow drawl, fingering the silver beads, sauntering closer to his brother's throne. There, he smirked at the question posed.
"Let the sea run red with blood. I'm sure your sharks would love a good feeding? Would they not?" Hades wore that slow smile that was his trademark, equal parts intriguing and mystifying, just like the God of Souls that he was. "Let them scream." he pulled at the silver strand, and collected the beads in his hands, before closing his fists around it."And bring them to me." With a final showcase of strength, Hades's grip tightened so much the silver beads broke to ashes in his hands, trickling out from the sides of his fist.

"It was only a suggestion."
Poseidon waved his hand dismissively as Hades vetoed his whale suggestion. It had originally been a jest but the more he thought about it, dropping a whale from the sea onto the city of Athenia would be quite the way to remind the people who they ought to be paying their respects to. With the event happening on the seas though it did make more sense to simply offer his sons the promise of fresh food and they would do the rest. He would tell the largest and oldest to make their way there, they would no doubt comply happily with his request not only for the reason he was their overlord but also because they dearly loved a good blood bath.
Watching carefully with narrowed eyes as his brother gathered the fine gems in his fist, the lord of the seas scowled at the dust that replaced them. While Hades might not flaunt his wealth, it was obvious the tricks he enjoyed playing to show how little it meant for him. When one had a constant supply, it was easy to toss it about like nothing, but he would have to bring down another ship for it and he'd quite liked those silver beads.
"Why are you so keen for this. Aside from the dead. Who do you want out of this."

He had smiled at the question his brother tossed at him. A plan he had formed for a long time, if only to feed his little need for some fun down in his dreary Underworld. After decades of being at the Judgement table, only with occasional help from the Furies (although he did not trust their judgement very well), he needed three very specific people to fill the three seats.
"I have Zenon." he murmured. Waving a hand in the air, a dark mist appeared that showed the face of the beheaded king of Taengea. A bloodied neck of the soul showed the way he died, but otherwise the former King looked quite as he did when he roamed the land of the living, if a littel perplexed at the little cavern Hades had closed him off in.
"Now I simply need two more." the male finished, turning on his heels to level a satisfied smirk at Poseidon. "Two more to fill the seats at my judgement table.... which leaves me free to do other matters." It was no secret who the other two were. They had three Kings in their kingdoms, and Hades would dearly like to have one of each at the seats of the Judgement table.
Besides, Minas had cheated death long enough. It was time for Thanatos to claim his dues.
"Besides, when do I ever complain of a lack of souls, brother?" he slowly drawled, eyes sliding away to back at the wealth the sea god had. Meandering slowly as if he was shopping in a mall, his hands tucked in between the dark folds of the chiton he wore, Hades picked up a red ruby, and flippantly rubbed its gleaming ages. "And your children get to have their fun. It would be fun, would it not?"

”I recall that affair. Many of my children died for that soul to become yours.”
Animals died, it was a fact he was well aware of, but the brutal way in which the chariot horses had been impaled or broken limbs due to the madness of the Circus that day had infuriated him. He wouldn’t have minded had the chaos in general distracted his Taengean faithful from their prayers for so long. In incidences like this they turned foolishly to Athena and Hera, begging for comfort and wisdom and seeing the look on their faces made him sick.
Poseidon waved a hand to erase Hades’ morbid image, finding the dark colors and bloodstains of the Underworld quite at odds with his deep blues and greens of his home. Leaning forward, he settled an elbow on his knee as he formed to his throne once more, pondering his brother with narrowed eyes. The three kings had certainly been good ones by mortal standards, but he still couldn’t fathom exactly what it was Hades had planned for them.
”I can’t guarantee Minas’ présence at the event. If you want him all you need is to ask for a tremor, so long as it spares the princess. I’m quite fond of her.” the god of the sea grinned wolfishly, more a baring of teeth than an actual show of happiness. ”Why. Why then in particular.”

Something that was akin to an apology fluttered across the eyes of the God of the Underworld for just a brief moment, as close as he would get to ever apologizing. That few seconds was quickly replaced with a smirk however, as the dark haired immortal waved a hand at Poseidon. "Some sacrifices have to be made for the greater good sometimes, brother. I'll promise your children will get a grand life in my realm for their contributions." Hades replied, smirking. He had no qualms with collateral damage for the main goal he aimed for.
Besides, there were few who paid respects to Hades unless they needed it. And the God wanted the people to pay. People prayed to Poseidon for safe passage across the sea, to Hera for childbirth, to Athena and Ares for war and strategy. But he? He only got prayers when a soul died, and during the course of their lives, he was given nary a second thought. The people of Greece did not fear death great enough, and for that Hades's ire grew.
It was true, what his brother said. It was unlikely Minas would be at the event, due to his health that has made the King stay in the Athenian palace more and more. But what Hades hoped was the added stress on top of the political turmoil going on in Athenia would speed up the process of his sickness, making it easier for Thanatos to stake his claim. "The princess?" Hades echoed, an amused smile curling his lips upwards. "The elder one? Tsk. You do have a soft heart, Poseidon." the darker male grinned, allowing his dark chiton to flare as he descended the steps that made its way to the sea god's throne. "But I have no interest in the chit. The King.... I have three seats on my table of Judgement. Zenon can take one... the other two belongs to the two Kings in Colchis and Athenia. They are fair, just, the kind that I can trust to pass the fair judgement to souls coming. And with them there... I can freely leave as I want." The taste of freedom so easy, if only he could fill his spaces of responsibility. "Besides, it makes for a nice little collection, do they not?"
