Imeeya could still hear the music and chatter from the night market floating in the air behind them as she and Lazaros walked away from the square towards the upper levels. Her arm rested in the crook of his arm, the proper way for such an escort, or so she had always learned and observed. She hadn’t had much of an opportunity to be escorted places by men who were not related to her, she tended to avoid the chance for her mother to make pointed suggestions about what their intentions might be. In fact, now that she thought about it, she was nervous about what her mother might make of a man escorting her home from the night’s festivities. Hopefully, her mother would already be in bed by that time, and Imeeya wouldn’t have to deal with a discussion of what a nice man like Lord Lazaros bringing her home would mean for her future.
But Imeeya didn’t want to think about these things now, she had been enjoying her time at the night market and didn’t want this good evening to come to an end.”I don’t think I’ve had such an enjoyable time in quite a while.” Imeeya said, trying to break the silence, and draw her own attention back to the happier aspects of the night. As they walked, the streets became emptier the further they walked away from the market and the festivities. As the wind whistled down the street, it knocked a piece of Imeeya’s hair that had escaped its hairdo during the dancing into her face. Imeeya reached up with her free left hand and tried to tuck it back into the ribbon that secured her hair on top of her head.
”So how long will you be staying in Midas?” Imeeya asked trying to make polite conversation with the commander. She had to admit, she didn’t know much about him other than the fact that he was in the military and had fought in the north, but Imeeya didn’t think that asking about his military experience would make for good conversation. It often seemed the kind of subject that men didn’t feel comfortable discussing around women, and she couldn’t blame them. As much as she’d always heard about the glory of war, it seemed like it was also a dangerous and bloody mess and she was glad that women were spared that particular role.

What a day it had been. It started out with Lazaros just thinking he was going to be more of a security detail for the royal family, however, Vangelis seemed to have other plans. His prince wished him to have a good time and enjoy the festivities, even going as far as inviting him along with him and his family. It was quite an honor and he would not turn down his general. At first, the Vlahakis man wasn't really sure what to think about all the noise and commotion. He was used to the craziness on the battlefield, however, the festival was nothing like it. The hustle and bustle was just the beginning of what was to come from such a happy time.
But it was now time to call it a day. Prince Vangelis and Princess Athanasia were leaving and had asked if Lazaros would walk Lady Imeeya home. It was her in which the blond commander had spent most of the afternoon with so it only seemed fitting that he would walk her home. The woman's arm was hooked into his own as he gently held her arm there. If he was being honest, Lazaros hadn't really walked many woman home in such a manner, let along one of Imeeya's stature. Even though she was younger than himself, he did not want to come across as being rude or anything worse.
It was quite between the two for a few moments before Imeeya spoke up. He listened closely, leaning down every so slightly to hear her better for her voice was soft. Lazaros couldn't help himself and let a small smile appear on his lips. "I must agree with you there, M'lady." He then straightened himself up again, continueing to walk. "It has been... some time since I have.. let myself have a little fun." His voice choppy, unsure of how to explain what he was trying to get across. As they continued to walk, Laz tried to tell himself to not walk too fast. His legs were much longer and he was used to a much more brisk walk. However, this escort was not about how fast they got there. Lazaros's attention was turned to her as she pushed a strand of hair back behind her ear. There was something about this young blond that had captivated him and gotten him out of his comfort zone. It was a strange feeling.
How long would he be in Midas? God's only knew. The commander thought about it for a brief moment and then he answered, his voice a husky tone. "It all depends on where my General wants me. I go where I am needed the most." There was a pause, without thinking he spoke again, "However, I may end up journeying to Alamosis sooner than I had planned." Lazaros didn't catch himself in time, until he had spoken the words and seemed to tense. His family was going through a hard time with his father and words from his sister made him worry more and more. He was needed back home but he was also needed in Midas. Trying to change the subject, Laz spoke again, this time his voice a bit softer, almost sad, "And what of you M'lady? Any plans here in Midas?" He took a moment to glance down at her.

As the pair continued down the increasingly quiet streets towards her house, Imeeya was intensely aware of her arm in Lazaros’s. Normally she didn’t have the occasion to be in such close company with a man. Sure, this wasn’t as scandalous as what Asia had done earlier, but there was something about it that still felt a bit exciting and forbidden about the feel of his arm on hers. Imeeya found herself smiling in spite of herself. Maybe tonight’s fun wasn’t over yet, after all.
As they walked, she could feel Lazaros fall into stride with her, his long stride shortening to match hers, and she could feel the tension she normally felt when talking to a stranger begin to fall away. She couldn’t help but feel flattered as Lazaros awkwardly expressed how much he had enjoyed the night, and some color rose in her cheeks at the compliment, as she looked up at him. Of course, another part of her mind had to point out that he hadn’t mentioned that he had enjoyed spending the time with her specifically, perhaps he had just had a good time at the rest of the festival. She didn’t want to embarrass herself by assuming, Imeeya looked again, hoping he couldn’t somehow see her thoughts in her eyes.
Luckily the conversation had moved on to more mundane topics, where she was much less likely to make a fool of herself. Imeeya nodded along as Lazaros explained his plans. ”What business do you have in Alamosis?” Imeeya asked trying to remember herself what was there. She mentally kicked herself as she realized a moment too late that that was where his family’s barony was located, but it was too late now to correct herself without drawing too much attention to her own mistake. She only hoped that he wouldn’t think her too empty-headed for forgetting where the Vlahakis family was from.
Lazaros’s questions of her distracted her from her mindless mishap. What were her plans in Midas? Well, that would probably depend on what her mother had in store for her. She didn’t want to trouble the man with her mother’s obsession with finding her a match. Nor, for that matter, did she want to give him any ideas in that regard. Her life in Midas was relatively dull otherwise, but luckily, she had plans to travel soon. ”I have no great plans here in Midas. I’m afraid my life is rather unexciting at the moment.,” Imeeya replied modestly. “However, my cousins and I are traveling to Taengea next week.” Imeeya looked up at Lazaros trying to gauge his reaction to the news. She didn’t know what she was looking to find, yet she almost hoped he might be disappointed she’d be leaving so soon after they met. ”Have you ever been to Taengea? This will be my first time traveling so far.” Lazaros of Vlahakis,
