The Temple of Aurelius is, by all accounts, a stunning structure. Often praised for its beauty, it consists of a large complex surrounded by tall colonnades. Within this, two courtyards stand. The first is decorated with three flowing fountains aligned in the centre, and exotic jasmine hangs from the surrounding columns. The second, smaller courtyard, contains the entrance to the temple itself: an enormous archway flanked on either side by bronze statues of the gods that watch over the temple. This temple building is circular in structure, with an impressive domed roof. The room is sunken into the ground, accessed down a set of three steps, and surrounded by a selection of columns topped by miniature icons of the god's symbols. In the centre stands a large altar, where an impressive golden statue of Sol Invictus towers over worshippers. Here, whispered requests echo throughout the hall as people leave their offerings to the god in the hopes that their prayers, perhaps, will be answered.
