The Hall of Neptune is a temple dedicated to Neptune located on the Campus Martius. Although so well-maintained that many would consider it one of the newest structures in the area, it is actually decades old and build by a renowned Legate to commemorate a naval victory. The circular temple is surrounded by a narrow moat that winds its way around the main courtyard and into the building proper. Inside, the waterways continue to encircle a stunning fountain topped by a statue showcasing Neptune, Thetis and Achilles surrounded by Nereids, Tritons and sea monsters. The back wall is similarly stunning, painted with an enormous frieze showing an image of an army guided by Neptune as they come face to face with a great sea beast. Many petitioners are often seen paying their respects at the temple, leaving offerings at the decorated altar as they whisper their requests silently to the gods.
